Hi Creative. As you may have seen, last week was a very scary week for me. My Dad, who I am extremely close to, was in the ICU for a subdural hematoma. At some point, I will tell the full story, but for today, I am sharing just a little behind the scenes of what has been going on, as well as resharing one of my favorite episodes in honor of my Dad. Please keep him in your prayers and good thoughts for a full recovery. I appreciate you. Original Description: Ciao, Creativo

Gould gives a background of Heroic Hearts Project and discusses their current projects and future goals, and Wilson talks about her nonprofit, The Hope Project, and its recent merger with HHP to bring more of a focus to the other side of veteran healing: the families of veterans. While Heroic Hearts and other veteran-aligned organizations have been an answer to many vets unable to find help otherwise (and frustrated with the inconsistencies of the VA), they talk a lot about that missing piece – how crucial it is to have family involved in a veteran's reintegration, and how that healing can impact future generations. "The Veteran's Guide to Psychedelics: A Preparation and Integration Workbook" was recently released, with all proceeds going to HHP, and they are hosting their first Gala event, "Operation: Freedom To Heal," this week, December 5, in Los Angeles. In this episode I dive  into the premiere of Sister Wives Season 19, which began with a tribute to the late Garrison Brown. The episode, filmed in late 2022, felt somewhat dated but provided new insights into the Brown family's dynamics. Kody appears less angry, while Robyn sticks to her usual narrative, and the family grapples with the fallout of their polygamous lifestyle. Christine, Kody, and Robyn attend Mykelti's baby sprinkle but don't interact, sparking online chatter about Christine's behavior. The episode sets the stage for more drama, with Kody and Janelle discussing their grief over Garrison's passing in People Magazine.  Timestamps: 00:00:00 - Season 19 Premiere of Sister Wives 00:00:13 - Addressing Garrison Brown's Passing 00:04:53 - Kody wants to sell Coyote Pass   00:08:05 - Christine's Petty Behavior 00:19:48 - Kody's Grief Over Garrison's Death 00:22:08 - Family Healing and Reconnection  ***Visit our Sub-Reddit: reddit.com/r/thesarahfrasershow for ALL things The Sarah Fraser Show!!!*** **Check out some of my FAVORITE things on Amazon Marketplace - especially if you're looking to get geared-up to start your own Podcast!!!** https://www.amazon.com/shop/thesarahfrasershow HALLOWEEN SHOW: Tuesday Oct 29, 7pm EDT, Join David Yontef and me for our Virtual Live Podcast Halloween Edition! ABOUT THE EPISODE:For those who haven't seen their child's life endangered by the misuse of substances, calling the experience "trauma" may sound like an exaggeration. But my guest today says that the effects on the body and mind are almost identical.    Dr. Amy Hoyt has been working in the field of trauma for 10 years, with studies ranging from genocide to addiction. But her understanding isn't just academic.  After suffering sexual abuse in her teens, Amy repressed the memories and began drinking before high school classes every morning. With the help of a good friend and parents who were willing to step in, she has been in recovery for many years.Over the course of her career, Amy has learned that toxic and vicarious stress mimic the effects of trauma in the body and mind. Constant stress changes our gene expression, and can even "turn on" experiences of pain, gut symptoms like IBS, autoimmune disorder, fibromyalgia, and serotonin issues. In this episode, Amy reviews some of the current research on stress and trauma relevant to kids using substances AND their parents, proven methods to down-regulate an overworked nervous system, and why psychological pain isn't "all in your head."EPISODE RESOURCES:The Mending Trauma PodcastDr. Hoyt's websiteDr. Hoyt on InstagramPeace After Trauma MembershipThis podcast is part of a nonprofit called Hopestream CommunityLearn about The Stream, our private online community for momsLearn about The Woods, our private online community for dadsFind us on Instagram: @hopestreamcommunityDownload a free e-book, Worried Sick: A Compassionate Guide For Parents When Your Teen or Young Adult Child Misuses Drugs and AlcoholHopestream Community is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and an Amazon Associate. In this profound episode of the #SiblingsToo podcast, we are introduced to Heather, John, and their daughter Brooke, a family united by the turmoil of sibling sexual abuse and united in their journey toward justice and healing. Heather and John, parents grappling with the revelations of their son's actions toward his sister, embody the resolve to advocate for both their children amid an undeniably complex emotional landscape. Brooke emerges as a beacon of courage and a voice for survivors, sharing her experience with clarity and a hope to inspire change.   Episode Summary:   The SiblingsToo podcast embarks on an emotionally charged dialogue as we delve into the critical issue of sibling sexual abuse and its ramifications on the family unit. This episode welcomes Heather, John, and Brooke, who bravely share their family's tumultuous journey after Brooke's disclosure of her older brother's sexual abuse towards her. Their story sheds light on the under-recognized epidemic of sibling sexual abuse and the journey towards justice and healing. Heather reveals the omnipresent danger technology poses in our children's lives, especially with the ease of accessing potentially harmful content like pornography. John shares his paternal struggle, anchored by his commitment to both his children, while Brooke illuminates her personal evolution, from survivor dealing with blame and shame to advocate for awareness and prevention. Together, they explore the complex intersection of familial dynamics, mental health, technology, and societal norms that often converge in cases of sibling sexual abuse.   *   The episode opens with Heather expressing concern for the overexposure of today's youth to content beyond their mental processing capacity. *   The family discusses the influence of pornography on their son's behavior and the importance of open dialogues and preventative measures in family settings. *   A powerful perspective shift occurs as Brooke underscores the necessity of reclaiming one's power as a survivor, advocating for both victims and abusers in the quest for healing.   Key Takeaways: *   Children are being exposed to more content, such as pornography, than their brains are ready to handle, influencing behavior in harmful ways. *   The challenge of advocating for both the survivor and the abuser exists within the same family, emphasizing the unique dynamics present in sibling sexual abuse cases. *   Parents should consider contracts, monitoring, and conversations about internet safety as preventative measures against the dangers of unfettered technological access. *   Brooke, as a survivor, aims to push for educational change within the school system, advocating for personal space rules and anti-grooming information. *   There is a possibility for family healing and reunification post-disclosure, with the prerequisite of respecting the survivor's timing and comfort.   Notable Quotes:   *   "Children are seeing more than their brains are ready to handle." - Heather *   "You should always hand the shame back to the abuser because if you don't, you're thinking it's your fault." - Brooke *   "We need open conversations...educate our children more so on dangers of family. A family makes you feel uncomfortable. People need to know not to be scared to come forward." - Heather *   "It's a sticky situation...it's totally upon Brooke on how she feels." - John *   "Everything will be fine... eventually you will [find your voice] too." - Brooke   Engage with the full episode to join Heather, John, and Brooke on their compelling journey through the complexities of sibling sexual abuse. In this week's show, Jennie talks with Susan Skinner and Ashley Blackburn about a book they recently published on family healing. The book, The Queen's Triumph: Family Healing Prayer Book, was a result of several years of prayer and discernment for them. Susan and Ashley share their journey from when God placed writing prayers on their hearts to share in their weekly prayer group to the process of writing the different types of prayers to compile into a book. Not only did they find personal healing through the writing process while learning how to step into their God-given gifts, but God used this project to bring healing to their families and marriages. Susan and Ashley share their first prayer, Litany of Our Lady, Healer of Families, which recognizes Mary as the daughter of God, spouse of the Holy Spirit and mother of Jesus. The litany is a reflection of the relationship Mary had with the Trinity and how she can intercede for each one of us to heal even the most broken relationships. Becoming a mother isn't easy. And that's especially true in the United States. Among wealthy nations, the U.S. has the highest rate of maternal mortality, which is defined as a death during pregnancy or up to a year afterward. Common causes include excessive bleeding, infection, heart disease, suicide and drug overdose. A recent study from the Journal of the American Medical Association found that tragedy also unfolds unequally, with Black mothers dying at the nation's highest rates. The CDC reports 1 in 8 women deal with postpartum depression. But many mothers have nowhere to turn. The Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health gave the U.S. a grade of “D” saying the country is failing to support mothers during and after pregnancy. Minnesota isn't much better, receiving a “D+.” But a local clinic is trying to change that. It's the Red Leaf Center for Family Healing and was Minnesota's first intensive mental health program for pregnant and post partum mothers. The founder Dr. Helen Kim joined MPR News Host Cathy Wurzer to talk about the clinic's work. Need help? The Red Leaf Center for Family healing has a HOPE Line you can call Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at 612-873-HOPE (4673). For immediate help you can call or text the 988 for the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

Ahead of his title bout, Caleb sits with Fred, Ryan and Channing to talk about his journey and why this fight means so much to him and opens up on how the emotion surrounding the two fighters isn't just for entertainment but is real. Growing up life wasn't easy and boxing wasn't a hobby, it became a way out for Caleb and now, it's a way of life for the former champion as he continues to etch his name atop the sport. Detailing his heartbreak of his young daughter's illness and her passing, Caleb emotionally shares how his life changed and how he was able to find strength in family and the will to keep fighting inside the ring. Losing his daughter Alia and also his mother shortly after, Caleb's motivation to be one of boxing's greats was fueled by his love of family and support from his best friend and now wife, Jordan. The foundation of his marriage is the structure if everything he does and fights for after recently welcoming their newest addition to the family, daughter Charly. Coming off a win in the fall after a loss to Canelo Alvarez last spring, Caleb understands what's at stake and is prepared to go to war this Saturday to win in the title and hand Benavidez his first loss. Caleb knows the sport comes with a good amount of trash talking but when someone talks about another man's wife or children, it's not reversible or forgotten…and Caleb is on a mission to let his opponent know there's no coming back from what was said. It's not enough to stand across from someone, it's about having your hand raised when the final bell rings.
