Clients don't really want a pretty website…they want a 24/7 sales machine. You work hard creating beautiful designs that are built solid and have intentional messaging and copy…but how do you know all that work is paying off for your client? How do you measure results? How do you keep your clients coming back for ongoing work over and over again?Well, at the end of the day…one of the best ways is to offer some sort of CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) as a service. But I'm sure you have a lot of questions on how to do this practically and how to sell it to clients so I can't think of anyone better to dig into this topic with than Leigh Scott, a conversion rate optimization specialist. As the founder of zainatain.com, a design and conversion consulting company, this is her bread and butter. We get into the weeds on this one including:Mapping out sales funnels for clientsMicro goals vs macro goalsCommon CRO metricsCreating a CRO roadmap for clientsSelling result-based CRO servicesA big thanks to Leigh for opening up her playbook on this one!If you want to learn more about CRO, she's the next industry expert who's doing a live training in my community Web Designer Pro! Welcome to Episode 17 of the Profitable Web Designer Podcast, where we're committed to helping web designers stop undercharging, overdelivering, overworking, and create a profitable, sustainable web design businesses. I'm Shannon Mattern, your host and founder of the Web Designer Academy where we teach the business side of running a web design business, and if you wanna make a consistent, full-time income as a web designer but you're struggling with things like pricing, boundaries, mindset and marketing and you're EXHAUSTED from going it alone… well, my friend, you're in the right place. Love the show? Tap here to leave us a rating and review! This week I'm talking with Leigh Scott about creating a 5-figure revenue months after charging by the hour! Leigh is a Web Designer Academy student who started her web design business in 2021 to spend less time at the office and more time with her son. She started out charging by the hour, and after hearing me speak at a summit, jumped into Web Designer Academy and we immediately identified pricing as one of her greatest opportunities. After creating a 3-part plan together, Leigh consistently has 5-figure months and is working on expanding her business to new avenues and even growing a team! “The way I'm thinking of pricing… What is something I think somebody won't agree to, but if they did agree to it, I would be excited about it?” - Leigh Scott Key takeaways from my chat with Leigh: It's okay to start out with getting paid by the hour. Leigh did it, and she even did some volunteer work for some non-profits that needed help with their websites. She doesn't regret any of these as this work helped her gain credibility, build her portfolio, and establish a network. But this is not sustainable in the long run. You're going to get as much results as the effort you put in. It doesn't matter how many courses you join, how many podcasts you listen to, or how many days of mindset shifting you do. If you do not put in the work, you will not get the result. There is an opportunity cost to undercharging for any period of time, and continuing to work with low-paying clients. Is this opportunity cost something you're willing to pay? “You don't have to learn things the hard way necessarily. You're still going to have to learn some things the hard way, but learn from someone else's mistakes and try to do it in a few months instead of a few years.” - Leigh Scott We also talk about how Leigh: Worked on her mindset to make the necessary shifts to raise her prices Analyzes current projects and client work to identify opportunities to add value and increase pricing Uses authenticity to effectively communicate with clients and help them see their opportunities If you're ready to raise your prices, work with dream clients and take control of your web design business, then I want to invite you to apply to work with us inside the Web Designer Academy! Simply head to https://webdesigneracademy.com, click the big Apply to Work with Us button, tell us about where you're at now and where you'd like to be, and if we think our strategies are a good fit for your goals, we'll invite you to learn more about our proprietary pricing frameworks and hear directly from us how we work with our students to empower them to create $10K revenue months. Zero obligation, zero pressure. We teach and live the exact opposite of pushy and sales-y, filling out that application is simply a chance for you to find out what unique opportunities we see for you and your business and to get all of the information you need to decide if working together is right for you. So, is it The Dunwich Horror? Witches? Witches: The Darkest Evil? No matter what its title, we all know what to call it: terrible. The Asylum alum Leigh Scott (of Transmorphers "fame"), writes and directs this adaptation that stars Dean Stockwell (sans mustache & perm) and fundamentally misunderstands the concepts of tension, faith, and competent filmmaking. While Corman and the 70's crew understood how to work within their meager budget, Scott does not understand, well...anything. Jim is taking off for the month of March to focus his physical and mental expenditures on his upcoming nuptials, but stay tuned to the Cast of Cthulhu Facebook and Twitter accounts to find out what James has in store until Jim's return!

“THE FORGOTTEN MURDER OF BONNIE LEIGH SCOTT” and 4 More Strange True Stories! #WeirdDarknessThe story of Bonnie Leigh Scott is a forgotten Chicago tragedy. Bonnie vanished on September 22, 1956. That evening, around 6:30 p.m., she left the home where she lived in Addison, Illinois, and told her grandmother that she was going out to look for a blouse. Bonnie lived with her aunt and uncle, Mrs. Robert Schwolow; their daughter, Sue, 15; and Bonnie's maternal grandmother, Mrs. Doris Hitchins. Her parents were separated and in the midst of a divorce. Bonnie was an ordinary girl, a sophomore at York Community High School and a babysitter for many of the young children who lived in the quiet suburban community. The five-room, newly built ranch house where she lived was virtually identical to all the others on the street. Before the night of September 22, Bonnie never caused a problem, never drew much attention, and seemed like every other girl her age. But that night, she became a mystery. As the police began tracing her steps, assuming that she was a runaway, they managed to find four teenagers who saw her at a diner in Addison around 7:30 p.m. that night. She was also seen at a surplus store, located next door to the town's police station. After that, she had apparently vanished into thin air.IN THIS EPISODE: Did lost cosmonauts make it into space before Yuri Gagarin? *** Don't take a gift from Gracie Watson's grave... or her life-like statue might cry tears of blood. *** A latchkey kid comes home to an empty house… or so they thought until they heard footsteps in another room. *** People often encounter strange and frightening things when they experience sleep paralysis – but in one particular story, the horrors began well before going to bed. *** Did Bonnie Scott run away? Join us as Dave, The Caregiver's Caregiver, & co-host, Adrienne Gruberg, (The Caregiver Space), interview actress Katheryn Leigh Scott, author of "Last Dance At The Savoy"), and is also caregiver to her husband, as they discuss, "How To Keep The Romance Alive Caregiving Your Spouse" When Kathryn Leigh Scott's husband was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a neurological disease for which there is (so far) no cure, it was a devastating time for both of them, not least because so little is known about the cause or treatment of a disease that affects some 20,000 Americans, a number similar to that of Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS). LAST DANCE AT THE SAVOY is both a personal story about Scott's husband, Geoff Miller, the founding editor of Los Angeles magazine, who lived life fully despite having a terminal illness, and a sharing of her insights on dealing with the day-to-day issues of caring for someone with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). *Includes a resource guide. *A percentage of royalties are donated to CurePSP
