Each week, Ian brings his wife Sam a new slice of his B-movie backlog and hopes for the best.

This week we are coming in so hot it might melt you into a nonfunctioning toilet that somehow still flushes. We watched it, so you don't have too!
***This weeks we transitions to a new system, and it sounds a little fuzzy. We appreciate you bearing with us*** We are back from our extended baby having leave, and we come back in style, with an 80s classic Sam felt physically ill to hear Ian hadn't seen. So come get your dance shoes on, loosen up for a Swayzeing, and for the love of good do not put an infant in the corner of a room!
We've been offline for a bit, and wanted to update everyone about what's been going on and our plans ad Do I Like This? returns March 2022!
This week DILT returns from a January break, and we begin Christmas in February with guest host Brett and Ian diving into the horror that is French Christmastime. www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
The holidays are full of many things, especially surprises! This past week Sam had a surprise case of voice-b-gone, and we were fortunate enough to have a fantastic surprise guest host in actor, writer, jack-of-all-trades creator Tom Downey sitting in for her. For his last minute kindness Ian rewarded Tom with the 1989 holiday marvel that is Elves. What a way to kick off our holiday themed month!! Cheers!
This week Brett returns just in time to take a trip down a modern Canadian nostalgia trip filled with alien slavery, Calvinball 2.0, a toilet jump scare for the ages, terrific practical effects, not as terrific pacing, power rangers inspired fight scenes, and a conversation on young Ian's forays into fiction writing. www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
This week Ian makes Sam watch arguably the worst movie ever made. We're talking space vampire plans, a foggy graveyard, a main character who wasn't even alive when they shot the film, gratuitous military stock footage, the origination of the modern woman, and a whole bunch of dialogue that we will never know since it didn't have closed captions. www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
We kick off a month of bad taste with the Peter Jackson origin story that is Bad Taste.
Sam achieved one of the greatest marriage goals yet- she got Ian to finally watch Rocky Horror Picture Show. If you don't know (like Ian), well, listen and now you'll know the glory that is Tim Curry.
We travel back to 1990 to revisit another of Sam's childhood terrors. Humanity really needs to stop ignoring local guides and exploring undisturbed locals. That's just one of many lessons we learned this week, along with the importance of home inspections when purchasing a house, a good local exterminator, unnecessary wine sub-plots, concerning local medical politics, always checking your slippers and sporting gear before putting them on, and the importance of a local meet and great. Oh yeah, some spider stuff too. www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
Sam hates bunnies. This movie is the reason why. Ian cannot un-see that which he had dodged for 37 years. The bell tolls today.
We venture back to Sam's childhood nightmares this week to discover the horrors that are wheelers, mountain snacks, a gump, the worst character potentially in any film we've done, some fantastic world design, a deadly desert, and a glorious chicken. Don't eat the eggs this week (if you are a mountain that is), and come join us as Disney weirds up a sequel to a classic. www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
We go back to our roots this week, and dive into the depths of prehistoric grudge matches as we watched The Asylum's Megashark vs Giant Octopus. So much to take into this week including whale kamikaze, test tube madness, janitors closet romance, possibly the greatest scene of all time, some submarine whack arounds, questionable decision making, octopus radar, and Deborah Gibson. Yeah, this movie might just have it all. Permission to come aboard, granted. www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
This week Ian scratched off an item from his bucket list, as he sat down with the hilarious and insightful Paul Bales, COO of The Asylum Productions. We learn about Pales career, the secret test name for Sharknado, the challenges of a VOD focused company during the rise and fall of the blockbuster age, oh, and what's coming next on The Asylum horizon. www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
It's time to travel back in time...to the mid 1990s. A time of Reebok pumps, Blockbuster Video, Starter Jackets and apparently this was acceptable as a movie. Oh my Ian, do you have feelings about this moving seeing it for the first time in 2021? Why yes I do. I have all sorts of thoughts on flying vampire turns, child bench traps, French Vampires (spoilers the worst), and so many questions for Sam - who might have come to a realization or two this viewing as well. It took a lot for me to keep this summary this professional. Sam almost had to lock me in a casket buried in a wall for all of a day. www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
We watched Battlefield Earth. I really don't know what to say about this movie. It lives up to its infamy in all the ways.
National Suicide Hotline: 800-273-8255 Hey, hey, wanna hear a true story? You do, great, okay let me obfuscate it with an illogical plane sequence, a terrible acting subplot, a major award, some Joey Lawrence, a great mine cart ride, a fencing mask, some twin stuff, and a coating of pretentious film school attitudes and outfits. Yeah, that's the stuff, that's what you wanted? You sick freak. I like your style. Okay, we can do that. In fact, we did that, this week. Did I mention we paid to rent this movie? www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
This week Ian welcomes Angel from That Strange Show to give Sam a break, because she's very pregnant and doesn't deserve to have to deal with the movies Ian brings her for a week! We talk about The Superdeep a Shutter original, the trailer to Blood Vessel, what makes a B-movie, what we've watched recently, and discover Ian's next Christmas movie he can't wait to watch!
Saved from the lost files of the interwebs, we had a chance last spring to talk with the delightful Gregory Bastien, aka Earl from our debut episode of DILT? Death Valley: The Revenge of Bloody Bill. We talk about the stuns, bad boy rip offs, the music, god good the music, and what he's working on now.
This week we welcome back one of our favorite actors Tom Downey, and he brought us a film from his youth that somehow Sam had never seen. Welcome to the Troma universe folks. It is definitely unlike anything you've experienced before.
This week it's a Snowbeast Miracle. We had the pleasure of sitting down with director Brian Brough, and discussing his journey with Snowbeast, his career and what he's up to now. Sam and I also reflect upon our feelings towards Snowbeast 30 episodes later, and we end it all with the full length original Snowbeast episode because you just can't have enough Snowbeast. And always remember: Snowbeast is her mom.
We walk the beat in 1980s NYC to discover what happens when a cop stops being nice, and starts getting real good at murdering. A battle of dueling chins, third act problems, a returning hero (to our podcast not the movie), some unexpectedly ahead of its time mental health conversations, Baby Bruce Campbell, oh, and some Jason vibes that could almost file trademark infringement. Buckle up, obey the law, and stay away from Pier 14.
This week we watched zombie Ocean's 11 with a dash of Dave Batista and a sprinkle of Tig Notaro for our Mainstream Monthly and we couldn't be happier.
Did you like The Chronicles of Narnia but thought Narnia wasn't Vietnam enough? Have you been craving your favorite secondary Cheers characters, but in really unlikeable roles? Are you into not watching your children around pools? Welcome to this weeks pick House, the movie for you. Also slug monsters. We think they were slug monsters. www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
Did someone say George Kennedy? How about some reluctant Nazis? Parental neglect? Or just some old-fashioned haunted ship fun? This we we watched Death Ship (not Ghost Ship) and it was something special. www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
A Bloodbath? Naked synchronized swimming? The mysterious disappearance of Paul Scheer? The best chainsaw? Sam's uncontrollable laughter? This movie has it all. Why are you reading and not watching it right now!?!?
Come one come all to the Shining Sea Aquarium. A place of magic and wonder for all ages. I'm sorry, I read the wrong copy. A place of horror and off-camera deaths for all 125 minutes. We journey into the newest release from The Asylum and experience a bromance for the ages, reanimated wildlife, a crab battle, unexpected starfish, a ceiling escape, an elevator what could have been, and an accidental trilogy realization too late. As soon as we can get the lockdown override lifted, we cordially invite you to join us in The Aquarium of The Dead. www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
This week Sam is out sick and Brett fills in to discuss the 2001 sci-fi prison snake horror science movie Boa. You got your Dean Cain. You got your Mark Sheppard. You got martial problems. You got cold snakes and blind runway landings. You want some inter-corporation departmental conflict, you got it. You like your science debatable, we got you covered. Early 2000s CGI graphics that sort of hold up, we might be able to find something. Maybe a few too many closed circuit security cameras but also somehow not enough, you got that too. Boa. You got it. www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
Do you like tropical settings? Michael Caine? Shoulder pads? A minimal amount of shark attacks? An obvious cash-grab? How about an unused voodoo shark curse plotline? This week, Sam chose a movie Ian had never seen (how?!) and that she had not seen since she was a teenager. My god. What a trip. Join us for Jaws: The Revenge (aka Jaws 4, according to Ian) www.doilikethispodcast.com Instagram Handles: @doilikethispodcast @the.ian.james Email: doilikethispodcast@gmail.com Twitter: doilikethispod Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/DoILikeThisPodcast Youtube (work in progress): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5-uNc7sqzACHUo6Wt6xdA
We welcome Brett back on this episode. We dive into the world of APEs, unnecessary helicopter chases, breakfast beers, car accident fights, a KFC imposter, George Kennedy continuing to owe someone favors, green blood, a drive-in shootout, the longest horse chase ever filmed, and god so many other things. Brett watched the trailer and said he was going to see this film no matter what. Will he be glad he did, or will those fateful words come back to haunt him?
This week Ian and Sam revisit their childhood, and we'll just say there were some feeling in this one.
Two thieves try to steal the rock of lazarus and prevent a demon from continuing his harvesting of souls. In the process they encounter a Do I Like This repeat actor, a perfect penis?, questionable one-liners, a supernatural-resistant garbage disposal, and a glorious headstone. Ian bought this movie for the 5th time for this episode, as we learn about his abilities to lose things. Was it worth the ebay price, only Sam can tell!
Unlike Santa Claus, this week's film did not check its list twice. And thank goodness for that, without an administrative error we'd have missed out on 3d hatchet toss, gross orderlies, the world's slowest car chase, an unexpected dragons lair cabinet, a sassy sheriff, and some boiler room shenanigans.
This week we sat down (virtually) with Katherine Kamhi Coghlan, know in horror circles for her role as Meg in the cult classic slasher Sleepaway Camp. Take a listen as we talked about raising kids who became horror actors, horror conventions, and learning the location of one of the original Sleepaway camp movie posters.
It’s never a good idea to go home again. Or in this case back into the woods where your sister disappeared on tape 20 years ago at the hands of a supernatural witch that was really good at her job. But you know, who needs common sense when you have creepy local racists, blurry cam footage, a bloodborne monster, space tents and one hell of a foot injury. We go back into the woods again for the 2016 continuation of the Blair Witch. At least this time Ian didn’t get motion sickness.
The premier episode of our Mainstream Monthly feature takes us deep into the Maryland woods on an adventure filled with shaky cameras, cigarette butts, stream crossings, and a genre establishing horror film. 20 years on does The Blair Witch Project hold up. We find out.
Anyone into shirtless James Woods in an S&M relationship with a TV? Anyone? Bueller? No takers? Don't worry, we were your wingmen for this one. Tune in this Thursday for the newest episode as we dive deep into an early Cronenberg.
Summers around the corner, so it was time to take Sam camping (apparently she never went to camp…WHAT!?!?). Time to get your bunk chanting in order, baseball taunts ready, work on your facial expressions, and try not to get left alone with the handsy cook (understatement of the year). Also show of your legs if you got them guys! And don’t forget to keep a secret for the summer that you only reveal to great effect at the end. We’re off to camp you guys, and when we think about it, it makes us want to fart!
We watched the Troll 2 Documentary Best Worst Movie and boy did we have some thoughts about it. Watch Troll 2 or listen to our Troll 2 episode before this special features episode for context. Really, it makes no sense if you don't. And we had some good jokes in that episode.
We journey into another CWB horror movie, featuring Supernatural star Jensen Ackles in a role that he might prefer you didn't talk about so much. Sorry Jensen, it's not you, it's the script. This movie has it all. Terrible roaches, a weird game of catch, post-partum Satan, a video game mogul, and the return of Ian's terrible, no-good, very bad music luck. Oh, and Sam's movie prediction skills are on point.
We welcome back Brett this week to discuss the Leigh Scott film Piranha Sharks.
What happens when you mix med school romance, plagiarism, a John Kerry look-a-like, impulse roommate choices, a cat attack, the first ever convention-center morgue, bad choices (looking at you Dan), amazing practical effects, and some wild tangents. Re-animator is what happens.
This week Ian and Sam sit down with director, producer, and a founding father of the mockbuster Leigh Scott to discuss his origins in the B-movie genre, the development of his own studio and streaming service, and some exciting projects he has in the works.
This week we welcome Ian’s brother Brett as our guest, and dive into Ian’s favorite B-horror film of all time. This one’s got it all. Soldier’s dicking around for way too long, nun piles, Frankenstein daddy issues, Nazis (gross), the coolest effing monsters ever, and Hans. Just make it through the first twenty minutes if you watch it - this one goes slow burn to holy shit.
We had the privilege of interviewing our favorite horror/comedy actor Tom Downey. Full of hilarious stories, excellent impressions, and a genuine innate talent for acting; he's the real deal. You are NOT going to want to miss this one. You can follow Tom on Instagram at @tfxdeez or check out his IMDB (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0236043/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1) for any of the films that he mentions.
