Happy Mocktober! In this episode, we kick off a month-long celebration of mockbusters, so get ready for some B-movie madness! In 2007, Michael Bay took 147 Million dollars and brought to the big screen a franchise that was more than meets the eye. Also in 2007, The Asylum took 0.2% of that budget and tried to do the same thing. To quote Sesame Street…one of these things is not like the other. Strap in as we kick off Mocktober and try to see if Transmorphers is not that bad. www.notthatbadcast.com Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/notthatbadcast Social Media - @notthatbadcast (X, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Spoutible) Learn more about your ad choices. Got you, suckas! Steve Martin Month concludes with an underrated gem of a comedy that hates Hollywood but deeply loves The Movies, 1999's Bowfinger, directed by Frank Oz, written by Steve Martin, and starring Martin, Eddie Murphy, Heather Graham, Christine Baranski, Jamie Kennedy, Robert Downey Jr. and Terrence Stamp. A movie producer at the end of his rope, Bobby Bowfinger's one last shot at Hollywood success goes up in smoke when action star Kit Ramsey won't agree to be in his movie -- so they make the movie anyway, starring Ramsey without his knowledge or consent. A classic comedy for both Hayley and J Mo's teen years, today we put the film on trial and ask whether it deserves to bask in the heavenly light of the ADHD-DVD film canon. Other topics this week include bad anniversaries, 12 Angry Men, Little Miss Sunshine, Borat, sex scenes in movies with your parents, The Producers, The Player, Dolemite Is My Name, The Jerk, Trading Places, and The Asylum Films' Transmorphers. Hyperfixations this week include film noir (in particular, 1945's Detour) and the British comedy game show Taskmaster. And we both pick our Top 5 All-Time Steve Martin Movies! Like so many of the comedies we've covered this month, this film is sadly not available for streaming at the time of publication. But if you can track it down, it is very much worth the time and effort to do so. Godspeed. We'll be back next week doing... something. We'll confirm on Twitter when we know which movie it is, so follow us there @ADHDDVDpod.
Byrd, Matt, Tom and Trev are back in the Asylum, this time reviewing their 25th anniversary film, 2025 Armageddon! Aliens invade our world by sending the Asylum's giant monsters to attack Earth. We have Mega Piranha, Mega Shark, Crocosaurus, Megaboa, Sharknado, Transmorphers, zoombies, and more causing mayhem. Does this live up to the hype? Listen and find out! But first we play a bit of Asylum catch up with a review of 2021's Megaboa starring Eric Roberts. We'll also spend a good amount of time talking about the state of the Asylum in a post-video store/TV movie special climate and how we think they should adapt to the new market. Relax and enjoy the conversation!

This week we're taking our first look at Avengers Grimm, a film from the infamous mockbuster movie company The Asylum (Creators of films like Transmorphers, Lord of the Elves, and Sharknado). Avenger's Grimm mixes together two of the mid-2010's hottest shows: Marvel's Avengers and Disney's Once Upon a Time. Join us as we discuss princess costumes (or rather, the lack thereof) silver Lou Ferrigno's, and much, much more!
Original eller rip-off? Vi har svaret! Med: Chris, Kurt og JørgenVignett fremført av: Filmjunkiene v/Ivar Nikolai Fallet og Aleksander U. Serigstad
We had the privilege of interviewing our favorite horror/comedy actor Tom Downey. Full of hilarious stories, excellent impressions, and a genuine innate talent for acting; he's the real deal. This week, Brian and Alec discuss their love of Asylum Films, the company behind mockbusters like "Almighty Thor" and "Transmorphers" and cheapie monster movies like "Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus" and the "Sharknado" franchise. From their they go on discuss other bad, or perhaps not-so-bad movies they love unapologetically. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

So, is it The Dunwich Horror? Witches? Witches: The Darkest Evil? No matter what its title, we all know what to call it: terrible. The Asylum alum Leigh Scott (of Transmorphers "fame"), writes and directs this adaptation that stars Dean Stockwell (sans mustache & perm) and fundamentally misunderstands the concepts of tension, faith, and competent filmmaking. While Corman and the 70's crew understood how to work within their meager budget, Scott does not understand, well...anything. Jim is taking off for the month of March to focus his physical and mental expenditures on his upcoming nuptials, but stay tuned to the Cast of Cthulhu Facebook and Twitter accounts to find out what James has in store until Jim's return!
Transformers isn’t a new thing. They’d been around since the 1980s. They’d had games come out in Japan. They’d had games come out on computers in America. But somewhere this is the first console game they got over here. Why? This makes no sense?Josh Garvey from the internet (ooooooh) comes by the show to take a look at Beast Wars Transmetals and to help catch me up on Transformers things since watching the cartoons is pretty much all I’ve ever done with them.Learn such things as: The fluidity of time and how that really messes with the history books. The impossible nature of making new characters that won’t immediately remind people of other, already established characters. The way a toy franchise whose previous commercial cartoon was based on making new characters, and thus new toys, adapts to a show with a very small number of characters. And so much more!

SPOILER, DO NOT LISTEN TO THE FIRST 24 MINUTES IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE GREY, UNLESS OF COURSE YOU DON'T CARE THEN LISTEN TO THIS A LOT! This week Ken Powell and Tom Seymour talk about cool films like "The Grey" and cockie films like Transmorphers and Birdemic. Wipe the shit out of your ears and get ready to romp. This episode we finally get around to watching Transmorphers (2007) and are joined by special guest Luis. If you’re going to make a ripoff movie you may as well rip off every sci fi movie. Then we talk movies that had you until a certain point. Usually the end but a clear point where the […]
This week Rock and Reel returns, after another slight delay in postings. We promise that we're working on improving our turn-around; we both have had some pretty crazy schedules. We should improve on that within the next month or so!First up comes the beach-novel-thriller-cum-Young-Adult-Horror-movie, The Ruins. This film wasn't provided to critics for early reviews; typically, this is a bad sign. Does this film fall prey to that stereotype, or is this a case of a studio not giving a film enough of a chance?Following that, we introduce the long-in-the-making segment, Knock Off Theatre. In this segment, we introduce and review a film that's been released direct-to-video in an effort to steal some of the thunder of a much bigger release. This week: The Transmorphers! Then its time for the album of the week. Kim Deal of the Pixies and her twin sister Kelley return with their band The Breeders (best known for their song "Cannonball") for their new CD Mountain Battles. They've not released an album since 2002's disappointing Title TK, and we were both interested to see how this one would turn out.We then introduce something new: our Theme Mix Tape! This week, to follow the sisterly duo of the Deals, we feature several songs from bands whose members have the same last name:The Ramones (song: "We're A Happy Family")Oasis (song: "Cigarettes and Alcohol")Los Campesinos! (song: "Death to Los Campesinos!")The White Stripes (song: "Sister, Do You Know My Name?")Radiohead (song: "Anyone Can Play Guitar")Tegan and Sara (song: "You Wouldn't Like Me")And that's the show for this week! Stay tuned though: shows featuring Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Flight of the Conchords, and Iron Man are in the process of being edited, and will be posted as soon as possible!:00-1:03 Intro1:04--23:37 - Our discussion of The Ruins23:38-34:18 - Knock Off Theatre: The Transmorphers34:19-41:22 - Album of the Week The Breeders' Mountain Battles (Featuring "Bang On")41:23-1:03:48 - Music Mix Tape: Bands with the Same Last Name (Feat.
