Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 2ú lá de mí Aibreán, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1976 bhí an ECC ag iarradh caith amach ball nach raibh ag déanamh an rud ceart. I 1993 tháinig an nuacht amach go raibh an GAA ag smaoineamh ar cead a thabhairt chuig cluichí rugbaí a imir I bPáirc an Chrócaigh. Dúradh go raibh siad ag smaoineamh ar de bharr go mbeidís ábalta níos mó airgead a fháil don fhorbairt ar an staid. I 2011 ainmníodh Liam Sheedy mar dhuine den bhliain don chontae. Bhí é féin agus an lucht bainistíochta go hiontach I 2010 d'iománaíocht. I 2014 fuair bean darbh ainm Kerrie O'Connor gléas ina ghairdín nuair a bhí sí ag glanadh suas. Chuaigh an scuad diúscartha buamaí chuici agus dúirt siad go raibh an ghránáid ón Chéad Chogadh Domhanda. Sin Brotherhood of Man le Save Your Kisses For Me – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo i 1976. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1977 chuaigh Fleetwood Mac chuig barr na cairteacha lena albam Rumours. Bhí amhráin ar an albam cosúil le Go Your Own Way, Dreams, Don't Stop agus You Make Loving Fun. Bhí sé an t-albam is mó a chuir Fleetwood Mac amach agus bhí sé sna cairteacha ar feadh 20 bhliain I Meiriceá agus dhíol siad níos mó ná 40 milliúin cóip timpeall an domhain. I 2001 shínigh Mariah Carey margadh iontach le Virgin Records do 3 albam leis an luach nach mór 100 milliúin dollar. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh amhránaí Marvin Gaye I Meiriceá I 1939 agus rugadh amhránaí Zach Bryan I Meiriceá ar an lá seo I 1996 agus seo chuid de a amhrán. Beidh mé ar ais libh amárach le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo. Welcome back to another edition of Ar An Lá Seo on the 2nd of April, with me Lauren Ní Loingsigh In 1976 The ECC was on the verge of putting the economic boot in against members stepping out of line In 1993 The GAA considered allowing rugby to be played at Croke park as part of its plans to secure millions of pounds of state funding for the development of the stadium. In 2011 - Liam Sheedy, the retired Tipperary senior hurling manager, was named Tipperary Association Dublin's choice for Tipperary Person of the year, The Portroe man along with his excellent management team led Tipperary to the holy grail of hurling in 2010 In 2014 - Kerrie O'Connor was tending her garden in Rathurles when she came across the device, prompting her to alert local gardaí. Members of the Army Bomb Disposal Team were called, the grenade dated back to around the time of World War I. That was Brotherhood of Man with Save Your Kisses For Me – the biggest song on this day in 1976. Onto music news on this day in1977, Fleetwood Mac topped the Billboard 200 with their 11th studio album, Rumours. Featuring such enduring Top Ten hits as “Go Your Own Way,” “Dreams,” “Don't Stop,” and “You Make Loving Fun,” the Grammy-winning album would become the band's most successful release, eventually spending more than 20 non-consecutive years on the US chart and selling more than 40 million copies worldwide. In 2001, Mariah Carey signed what was then the most lucrative recording deal in pop music history when she agreed to join Virgin Records in a three-album deal reportedly worth $100 million. And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – Marvin Gaye was born in america in 1939 and singer Zach Bryan was born in america on this day in 1996 and this is one of his songs. Fleetwood Mac's iconic breakup album ‘Rumours' hit No.1 on the U.S. album charts on April 2nd, 1977, and has never really left the public consciousness since.  With banger after banger—Dreams, Go Your Own Way, The Chain—it resonated across generations, but perhaps especially with the band's boomer contemporaries, many experiencing troubled relationships of their own. At the time of its recording in California, Mick Fleetwood was reeling from a collapsed marriage, John and Christine McVie were divorcing, and Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham were locked in an emotional war, with Nicks soon to embark upon a relationship with Fleetwood. Recording Rumours was a year-long endurance test.  In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly uncover the mathematical formula for Fleetwood's cocaine consumpion; consider how TikTok has revived interest in this seminal LP; and reveal how, despite making positive noises, contemporary critics missed just how important the album would become… Further Reading: • ‘Rumours' (Library of Congress, 2017): https://www.loc.gov/static/programs/national-recording-preservation-board/documents/Rumours.pdf  • ‘Fleetwood Mac: In the Middle of the Road' (The Washington Post, 1977): https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1977/02/09/fleetwood-mac-in-the-middle-of-the-road/537b612c-e519-4623-a118-144efcac1a1f/ • ‘Fleetwood Mac - Rumours [Full Album]' (Warner Records, 1977): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uFU79MGj00 #Music #70s #US #Celebrity Love the show? Following a blueprint is fine for building structures, but when it comes to life choices, someone else's recipe for success probably will be only marginally helpful. Plans are helpful, and perspective even more so.In this conversation with Sydney Malawer, we explore what it means to build a practice that actually works for you. From rejecting conventional business advice to embracing a model based on sufficiency instead of relentless growth, Sydney shares the mindset shifts and strategic choices that have allowed her to create a thriving, sustainable practice in one of the most competitive markets in the country.Listen into this discussion as we discuss redefining success in practice, why charging higher rates can lead to a more sustainable clinic, navigating the tension between capitalism and integrity, and how understanding your own archetype can shape the way you run your business. This conversation is a reminder that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to building a practice. What matters most is knowing what works for you and having the courage to bet on yourself.

In Genesis 13, the story of Abram and Lot offers profound lessons on faith, trust, and the consequences of our choices. As their flocks grow, tensions rise, leading Abram to propose a peaceful solution. He offers Lot the first choice of land, demonstrating his trust in God. Lot chooses the fertile plains near Sodom, a decision with significant future repercussions. God reassures Abram of His promise, leading him to build an altar in Hebron. This narrative teaches us to trust God's plan, reflect on our choices, and create moments to honor God's faithfulness.

September 4th will see the 100th and final episode of Music Talks and I know the guest for that episode pretty well as its ……ME!! Given I will be moving chairs I needed someone to be the host of that episode and who better than Steve Clayton, a dear friend, my very first guest on Music Talks and one of the best communicators I know. Given his role at Microsoft is ‘Chief Storyteller' that's no surprise. The original episode I did with Steve went out on June 25th, 2019, but I didn't  want to just re-post it. The brilliant Andy Rhode at Audionauts has been helping me edit Music Talks for almost three years now and so I asked him to re-edit and remaster that original recording and I think he's done a great job. I was never happy with the sound on that first episode and whilst it's still not perfect it sounds a lot better than it did. He's also edited it down to a Vinyl friendly 45 minutes and I'm pleased to say that most of what has been edited out is me not Steve! For those of you who have heard the original episode I hope this will be an enjoyable reminder and for anyone that hasn't then I hope this will be a good introduction to the host of Episode 100. Steve's music choices were: 70's –   Go Your Own Way -                                                 Fleetwood Mac80's -    Where The Streets Have No Name -                    U290's -    Unfinished Sympathy -                                          Massive Attack00's -    The Planets Bend Between Us                              Snow Patrol10's -    A Sky Full of Stars                                                    ColdplayEnjoy and see you on September 4th If you would like to be on the show then please contact me at musictalkspod@outlook.com Please follow and like Music Talks on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/musictalkspod . Rumours Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine Rumours is the kind of album that transcends its origins and reputation, entering the realm of legend -- it's an album that simply exists outside of criticism and outside of its time, even if it thoroughly captures its era. Prior to this LP, Fleetwood Mac were moderately successful, but here they turned into a full-fledged phenomenon, with Rumours becoming the biggest-selling pop album to date. While its chart success was historic, much of the legend surrounding the record is born from the group's internal turmoil. Unlike most bands, Fleetwood Mac in the mid-'70s were professionally and romantically intertwined, with no less than two couples in the band, but as their professional career took off, the personal side unraveled. Bassist John McVie and his keyboardist/singer wife Christine McVie filed for divorce as guitarist/vocalist Lindsey Buckingham and vocalist Stevie Nicks split, with Stevie running to drummer Mick Fleetwood, unbeknown to the rest of the band. These personal tensions fueled nearly every song on Rumours, which makes listening to the album a nearly voyeuristic experience. You're eavesdropping on the bandmates singing painful truths about each other, spreading nasty lies and rumors and wallowing in their grief, all in the presence of the person who caused the heartache. Everybody loves gawking at a good public breakup, but if that was all that it took to sell a record, Richard and Linda Thompson's Shoot Out the Lights would be multi-platinum. No, what made Rumours an unparalleled blockbuster is the quality of the music. Once again masterminded by producer/songwriter/guitarist Buckingham, Rumours is an exceptionally musical piece of work -- he toughens Christine McVie and softens Nicks, adding weird turns to accessibly melodic works, which gives the universal themes of the songs haunting resonance. It also cloaks the raw emotion of the lyrics in deceptively palatable arrangements that made a tune as wrecked and tortured as "Go Your Own Way" an anthemic hit. But that's what makes Rumours such an enduring achievement -- it turns private pain into something universal. Some of these songs may be too familiar, whether through their repeated exposure on FM radio or their use in presidential campaigns, but in the context of the album, each tune, each phrase regains its raw, immediate emotional power -- which is why Rumours touched a nerve upon its 1977 release, and has since transcended its era to be one of the greatest, most compelling pop albums of all time. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/comics-in-motion-podcast/message

Students who enter a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or veterinary technician program can choose the path that suits them, including nontraditional ones, as long as they have a mentor to help guide them, a willingness to step outside their comfort zone, and the confidence to seize opportunities when they present themselves. fWotD Episode 2539: Rumours (album) Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of the featured Wikipedia article every day.The featured article for Wednesday, 17 April 2024 is Rumours (album).Rumours is the eleventh studio album by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released on 4 February 1977 in the United States and on 11 February 1977 in the United Kingdom by Warner Bros. Records. Largely recorded in California in 1976, it was produced by the band with Ken Caillat and Richard Dashut. The recording sessions took place in the aftermath of several relationship breakups among the band members in addition to heavy drug use, both of which shaped the album's direction and lyrics.Recorded with the intention of making "a pop album" that would expand on the commercial success of the 1975 album Fleetwood Mac, the music of Rumours is characterized by a mix of electric and acoustic instrumentation, accented rhythms, guitars, and keyboards, while its lyrics concern personal and often troubled relationships. Its release was postponed by delays in the mixing process. Following the album’s release, Fleetwood Mac undertook worldwide concert tours in support of it. Rumours became the band's first number-one album on the UK Albums Chart and also topped the US Billboard 200. The songs "Go Your Own Way", "Dreams", "Don't Stop", and "You Make Loving Fun" were released as singles, all of which reached the US Top 10, with "Dreams" reaching number one.Rumours was a commercial success, selling 13 million copies worldwide by 1980. It garnered widespread acclaim from critics, with praise centred on its production quality and vocal harmonies, which frequently relied on the interplay among the band's three vocalists, and which has subsequently inspired the work of musical acts in various genres. It won Album of the Year at the 1978 Grammy Awards and received Diamond certifications in several countries, including the UK, Canada, Australia, and the US, in where it is certified 21× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). As of February 2023, Rumours has sold over 40 million copies worldwide.Often considered Fleetwood Mac's magnum opus, Rumours has frequently been cited as one of the greatest albums of all time. It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2003, and in 2004, Rumours was remastered and reissued with the addition of "Silver Springs", which had been excluded from the original release, and a bonus CD of outtakes from the recording sessions. It was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry in 2017, being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress. In 2020, Rumours was ranked 7th in Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:40 UTC on Wednesday, 17 April 2024.For the full current version of the article, see Rumours (album) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm Joanna Standard.

What the Riff?!?

We've already covered a couple of Journey albums.  Episode 250 profiled "Infinity," the introduction of Steve Perry to the group.  And episode 26 delved into arguably the high water mark for Journey, the album "Escape."  Here we take a look at the band as they are in their transition into one of the world's biggest rock bands. The appropriately-titled album Evolution is Journey's fifth studio album.  Here we find Steve Perry settling in as front man while still sharing lead vocal duties with keybaordist Gregg Rolie.  They have also replaced drummer Aynsley Dunbar with Steve Smith, previously with Ronnie Montrose's band.  The band is continuing to explore a more radio-friendly sound.  The lineup for this band includes Perry, Rolie, and Dunbar, along with Neil Schon on guitar, and Ross Valory on bass.At the time, "Evolution" was the band's most successful album, and it reached number 20 on the Billboard 200 chart.  It also featured their first single to enter the top 20.  The album was actually released in March of 1979, but was recorded in the fall of 1978.  We're featuring it in January of 1979 because - well - that's where we were able to fit it in.Brian rejoins us in todays podcast to sub for an absent Wayne, and to profile this album. Too LateA deeper cut written by Perry and Schon, this song was written about a friend from Steve Perry's hometown who was wrestling with addiction to drugs.  It was a plea to get out of town and the surroundings that fed his addiction before it was too late to break the chains of addiction.Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'The biggest hit from the album is a slow rocker with a shuffle beat.  It hit number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November of 1979, the group's first foray into the top 20.  The song is based on a true story about a cheating woman who finds out that turnabout is fair play - and that cheating on a songwriter can result in your being memorialized in a song.City of the AngelsWhile they were known as a San Francisco band, this album track pays homage to Los Angeles.  It was written by Perry, Schon and Rolie.  On the album, "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" immediately leads into this track, and you will occasionally hear these played together on album-oriented stations and satellite radio.Just the Same WayThis single finds Gregg Rolie taking turns with Perry on lead vocals.  It was written by Rolie, Schon, and Ross Valory, making it the only song on the album not written or co-written by Steve Perry.  It is an infatuation song, with a great call-and-answer in the chorus between Rolie and Perry. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:The Pink Panther Theme by Henry ManciniThe Saturday morning cartoon show with a silent protagonist, "The Pink Panther," ended its run after 10 years. STAFF PICKS:Gold by John StewartLynch's staff pick is a top 5 hit from John Stewart's album "Bombs Away Dream Babies," his first solo top 40 hit.  Both Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks contributed to the album, and Nicks provides backing vocals on this song.  The vocals describe the dark, cynical side of the recording industry.Planet Claire by The B-52'sRob brings us a musical interpretation of a B-rated sci-fi movie.  Once the instrumental and sound-effects - with a Peter Gunn-inspired beat - give way to Fred Schneider's vocals, we find that the girl is from Planet Claire, drives a Plymouth Satellite, and "some say she's from Mars, or one of the seven stars that shine after 3:30 in the morning.  Well, she isn't!"Dance the Night Away by Van Halen Bruce features the first US top 20 hit by Van Halen.  This song is unusual because it is the only song on the "Van Halen II" album that originated in the studio rather than as a song the group had honed on tour for a long time.  It also downplays Eddie Van Halen's guitar virtuosity and brings up the vocal harmonies.  Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way" was an inspiration for this single.Rock n Roll Fantasy by Bad CompanyBrian's staff pick was written by Bad Co. front man Paul Rogers, and reflects the truth that Rock music is escapism, a fantasy to take you away from the stress of the everyday world for a bit.  It was the lead single from the album "Desolation Angels."  While not their highest charting single, it is their best selling single. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:Main Theme from the motion picture "Alien"The disturbing soundtrack was one element of what made this sci-fi horror film so creepy. We have already seen ups and downs in Abram and Sarai's journey. We have seen Abram follow God's calling and promises with bold faith and obedience. We have also seen him run in fearful faithlessness. We have seen Abram at his peak as he led a campaign to rescue his nephew and the people of the cities of the Jordan River Valley, and as he refused to leverage his victories for political gain but received a blessing from Melchizedek. Last week we saw Abram receive God's promises again, but this time as a covenant – in a mysterious passage that shows that God's promises to Abram are not contingent in the least on Abram, but only on God to come through. Just when everything looked like it was headed in the right direction, chaos descended. Abram, who had “believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness,” turned back again to his own solutions and plans. He and Sarai took God's promises into their own hands, with the best of their ideas for how to bring them to fulfillment. The best of their efforts, though, were not what God had called them to. In truth, they showed a lack of faith, a lack of trust in God's ability to do the seemingly impossible. Genesis 16 is a dramatic, made-for-Netflix story that reveals impatient hearts that reflect our own more closely than we would like to admit. And still there is hope in the midst of chaos.

Massapequa ,Long Island makes sure its high school students know that mindfulness is important. High School English teacher, Lisa Davi proves in all she does that mindfulness matters. Lisa has developed and implemented a high school English elective course, to help students learn to love themselves and go your own way.  What's up everyone? Welcome to episode two hundred four of Above Ground Podcast. This week we talk mindfulness, Don Miquel Ruiz and The Four Agreements, High School English and how we can learn to connect and stay connected to ourselves.  Lisa's inspired idea sprouted when she started to notice a shift in students levels of anxiety, overwhelm and loneliness. Inspired by Tim O'Brien's, The Things They Carried, Lisa proposed the question to her tenth grade pre -AP class of what do you carry everyday? Then the second day she asked what do you carry mentally and emotionally?  This assignment was issued for three years and Lisa was noticing a difficult trend to ignore, our teens were hurting. It was being exacerbated every year by culture, social media  and our unwillingness to change the way educate our adolescents. In a world that is on hyper speed and it's harder to compete on every level, we as parents have an important role to play. We have to acknowledge and fix our shit. We owe it to our children and the world.  The foundation of Lisa's Mindfulness Matters class is The Four Agreements by Don Miquel Ruiz. The district even goes as far as providing the students who enroll in this class their own copy. In turn, they take it out and spread it to parent, grand-parent, caregiver and society.  Into the Magic Shop written by Dr. James R. Doty,  Rhonda Byrnes book The Secret, which is about the Law of Attraction, and Ruiz's sequel, The Fifth Agreement round out the reading list for her English elective. An elective that not only is making the school district notice. CBS 2 Long Island News recently spotlighted the class on a broadcast and is bringing attention to this young but hopeful and needed program to be picked up District wide.  Lisa Davi is a true change agent exemplifying Gandhi's words of, be the change you wish to see.
