Killing retired racing greyhounds is now banned - after Parliament's unanimously passed a law - in less than two hours. The Bill - read under urgency - will protect nearly three-thousand dogs needing re-homing, as the Government shutters the industry. A rapid-fire string of speeches included many addresses from MPs on their own pet dogs. That includes Labour MP and former racing minister Kieran McAnulty. He adopted a greyhound - and is urging Kiwis to do the same. He says greyhounds are the most gentle, loving and caring animal anyone could imagine - and the best pet you could hope for. We bring to you this special episode dedicated to the new film the Bikeriders. It tells a fictional story inspired by the 1967 photo-book of the same name by Danny Lyon, depicting the lives of the Outlaws MC, a motorcycle club founded in McCook, Illinois. The film stars Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, and Norman Reedus. Jim and Mike sit down with Norman Reedus to talk about his role in the film as Funny Sunny, and find out what else he's been up to. Then they interview Jeff Millburn, who was the stunt coordinator and bike wrangler for the film. Mike points out that the bikes are just as much of a character in the film as any of the actors, and get lots of behind the scenes stories from Jeff about the filming, training and finding all of the period bikes. Check out the movie at a theater near you.
This week's guest is writer-director Jeff Nichols, who is on the show to tell Simon all about his long-awaited, star-studded crime drama ‘The Bikeriders', which stars Simon's fave Austin Butler, and tells a fictional story inspired by the 1967 photo-book of the same name, which depicts the lives of the Outlaws MC, a motorcycle club founded in McCook, Illinois. Mark will give his thoughts on the film when it comes out next week. He also reviews ‘Freud's Last Session', an Anthony Hopkins-starring drama based on the play of the same name, which sees the legendary psychoanalyst invite iconic author C.S. Lewis to debate the existence of God; and ‘Arcadian', a post-apocalyptic action horror, which sees Nicolas Cage play a father living with his twin teenage sons as they fight to survive in a remote farmhouse at the end of the end of the world. The big review of the week is ‘Inside Out 2', the follow-up to the now-classic children's movie, which sees Riley, now a teenager, encountering new, difficult emotions like Anxiety. Abbie Chase is a junior at McCook Central High School and is serving as the chapter's Vice-President of Building Community. Abbie is also a very determined bee keeper, which you will figure out when you hear her story, and she is growing the number of hives she keeps as quickly as she can. This was a very interesting interview for me because it incorporated a story of a severe weather phenomena that I have never experienced. Abbie did experience this, and it really changed her outlook on the service component of being in the FFA. It also impacted her personally because of the impact that it had on her bee hives at the time when it occurred. So, in today's episode not only is there a great story of an outstanding FFA student, but there is a great weather story that leads right into perseverance in agriculture!

Have you ever wished you could just ask an expert, “how the heck do I do this…in simple terms?” That's exactly what I thought as I was planning out 2024 content for The Found Podcast. Why not give entrepreneurs and small business owners an opportunity to ask real questions in real time and get real answers that matter to them? In this new format called “Coaching Calls,” small business owners and entrepreneurs are given an opportunity to submit one question they would like to ask me about marketing, business growth, personal development, or anything that we touch on here at The Found Podcast. When I saw the first submission come in from this friend of the pod, I was so excited! And I knew we had to have her on, not just because she's amazing and her business is so impressive, but also because her question is so relatable and probably on your mind too: “Molly should I add TikTok in 2024 to my marketing tool kit?” Why to Add TikTok in ‘24 Now, my friend this is a very layered question, and as I go into with Alix, it's not as simple as just starting an account and saying “Hey, follow me now!” I highly recommend that anytime you add a platform to your marketing toolkit you make sure A: that it is aligned with your ideal audience B: that you have the time to dedicate to the learning and the growth it's going to take to get started on the platform C: that you develop a long-term and short-term plan for how this new platform will serve your business In 2024, I do think that TikTok offers a great opportunity for business owners who are product based and are direct to consumer, but I do think there are a few other items to consider before diving into TikTok for business. For example you'll hear me talk with Alix about developing a serial approach to your TikTok videos so there are multiple videos produced in a similar style. You'll also hear me advising Alex on growth strategies and understanding which accounts are already connecting with her ideal client and how she can use some of those accounts to inspire her creativity or guide her content as she grows for her business. If you are asking yourself: “Should I add TikTok to my business marketing?” go ahead and tune into this coaching call, my friend. It's a 20 minute conversation that will really help you as you consider adding a platform to your marketing repertoire in the new year. A little more about our guest today… Alix and I got to know each other in 2021 when she enrolled in the first iteration of MKM Social School, and over the past few years I've gotten to know her and her business a little better. Alix and her husband live in McCook, Nebraska, where together they raise three boys and own and operate Sehnert's Bakery & Bieroc Cafe, a 500-year-old business that originated in Germany. You can here more of her business' evolution and her founder story in Episode 77 of The Found Podcast (which was called Small-Minded when we originally recorded this interview in 2022). Learn more about Sehnert's Bakery Give Sehnert's a follow over on Instagram and Facebook and head to their website to get in contact!

Join us for an important mental health conversation with authors Jake and Laurette McCook right here in The Locher Room. This mother and son duo will be here to discuss their new book, The Cliffs of Schizophrenia. Jake is the son and Laurette is the wife of The Bold and the Beautiful's John McCook.Jake was hospitalized at 30 with anxiety, depression, and paranoia. He was later diagnosed with schizophrenia. Their new book will invite you in. Jake designed it with short alternating chapters between mother and son, written in larger font for simplicity and clarity. While creating it, Jake's worst paranoid thoughts were triggered. He overcame this by writing some chapters in free-form style, allowing you to experience what goes on inside his head with remarkable insight and humor. Laurette enhances those thoughts by shining a light on logic wrapped in a mother's wisdom, as if it might keep her son from dropping into an abyss. Together, they paint a picture of today's mental health challenges. If you are bound by this brain disease, or are a loving caregiver, you won't want to miss this conversation on December 20th and more importantly you must keep a copy of this book beside your bed for days when you long for normalcy. You are not alone!https://www.jakemccook.com

Hadley Steifvater is an American Star Finalist in the category of Agriscience Research. She has grow up around her father's veterinary practice, raising livestock of her own and also helping to solve problems in the production agriculture world in her region of South Dakota. Hadley was homeschooled for the entirety of her primary school career, and her pathway into the FFA and agriscience research are a bit different than normal. Hadley was actually recruited by the FFA Advisor for McCook Central High School, Terry Reickman, as her father had been the FFA and Terry had been his advisor too. This recruitment took place her 7th Grade year, but it was not until 8th Grade that her parents allowed it. In the first year, another of Hadley's FFA Advisors, Tracy Chase, encouraged her to do an agriscience research project. Hadley went on to win both state and national awards with that project in just the 8th Grade! This set her on a course of seeking research projects, and soon she was researching the best methods of farrowing pigs and caring for newly born pigs on behalf of her father and for one of his customers. This led to Hadley researching block chains in the beef industry and assessing whether or not the origins of a steak could be traced back to the farm the calf was born on - a topic of particular interest to me. Hadley is now at South Dakota State University, majoring in Animal Science, and she is looking at a future career in the veterinary field as either a veterinary nurse or veterinarian.
According to food photographer Mica McCook, the secret sauce is more than simply visual appeal, it's connecting to how the images make you feel. As McCook likes to say, she creates cravings, one photo at a time. McCook's photos are dramatic like telenovelas, embracing the magic of a chef's palate, and delighting in the vibrant flavors that bring dishes to life. Her approach is theatrical and bold, akin to setting the stage for a grand performance. Each element, from the decadent chocolate drizzle to the vibrant pop of a fresh herb, contributes to the culinary drama. For McCook, food is not just about sustenance, it's an experience. In a world where fast food and quick meals are often the norm, McCook is here to remind us of the richness and pleasure of a well-composed dish, and to celebrate the chefs who create, the farmers who cultivate, and the diners who savor. As an extension of her photography business, McCook launched her biweekly podcast, The Savory Shot, in June 2022, because she is perpetually curious about the food industry and those who dwell within it. Listen in to hear how a life-altering trip to the Reading Terminal Market, in Pennsylvania, laid the groundwork for McCook's career transition from people to food, and even inspired her unique business name of Austin Food Guide. Grace DiGiovanni is a 2022 National Proficiency Winner in the category of Service Learning. With a title like that, you know that she had done something significant to help out her community, but after doing a complete interview with her it was obvious that she is wired to help her fellow human. Grace is currently attending college at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She has her eyes set on medical school and oncology. She has a scientific and inquisitive brain, and all of us are blessed that people like Grace exist. She has a desire to work on the macro and micro in oncology in her career. On the micro level she sees herself helping individual patients through oncological surgery to address their specific needs. On the macro she sees herself studying the tumors that she has just removed for the betterment of all of society! Of course, this is no surprise when you learn what Grace's SAE was. She saw that the food that was being included in a local backpack food program was not very nutrient dense or healthy. So, she obtained a grant, community volunteers and donations from the community to change this. Ultimately she wound up taking over the entire program and leaving a legacy in her community. And, during all of this she obtained over 80 college credits through dual credit courses. That number is a new record of college credits obtained in high school on the Off-Farm Income Podcast!

This week, in McCook, Nebraska, a couple goes missing, with the family suspecting foul play, but they never suspect just how, or why any of this has happened. Turns out, jealously, anger, threesomes, throuples, and sexually explicit graffiti caused it. Also, it just shows how you can never tell what freaky & wild things are happening, behind closed doors, in what seem to be extremely normal & square households. And what untold horrors can happen there, including some of the most hideous body disposal, ever!A twisted tale, where no one seems to do whatever the normal thing to do is!! Along the way, we find out that sometimes people who have nothing to do with anything get murdered, that female body parts may more buoyant than male body parts, and that throuples are just as unhappy as any couple!!
