The Red Stars (my first team, but truth be told, I would support any NWSL team) seemed passive in attack; maybe as a result of no Mal Pugh. And Angel City came out with the 1-0 victory. Great game, always a great experience, and most importantly easy trip to the stadium on the metro. Ban cars. Anyway. Chris reviews the CONCACAF Championship which kicked off with the USWNT convincing 3-0 win against Haiti to celebrate July 4th in Monterrey, Mexico. Alex Morgan continued her tremendous form with two superb goals in the 16th minute delivered by Mal Pugh and 23rd minutes, by Kelly O'Hara. Then in the closing stages Midge Purce sealed the win in the 84th minute, thanks to a Kristie Mewis' handy delivery into the box. Alex has really found her rhythm this season in the NWSL and then like a true veteran brought it to the national squad in time for the World Cup and Olympic Games qualifiers. She always looks so polished but there a new shine on her brilliance as one of the best forwards in the game.
