Tammy Parlour, is the co-founder of Women's Sport Trust. She works with leaders from across sport, media and business to understand how to practically raise visibility, increase impact and create a stronger women's sport ecosystem and was awarded an MBE in 2019 for services to gender equality in sport. She is a Master in the Korean martial art of Hapkido, having practiced for over 40 years, and currently runs a club in central London. She is a club rep on The FA Women's National League Board since the end of 2023 and sums up her approach to life succinctly on her biography on LinkedIn as “I love learning”. Our conversation starts with how she discovered martial arts and hapkido in particular and the collateral impact of building extreme proficiency in the sport – in particular how moving to each belt level required “inhabiting” the roles and responsibilities that came with each level (e.g. to teach other classes). We trace then her move back to the UK from the US and setting up a studio in the discipline. This discussion is a particularly personal one, as we explore the benefits that sport and discipline can bring to an impressionable teenage mind, particularly one that might have struggled with other issues such as an eating disorder, and we discuss how this informed a life-long mission for Tammy to further equality in sport and the creation of a stronger women's sport ecosystem. The themes of voice, empowerment, inner strength, discipline, loyalty and passion are all intertwined in this conversation, which we bring to you as a special bonus in the aftermath of the Olympics 2024, which were a triumph for diversity and inclusion.

Rachel Pavlou was described as the most selfless person in women's football by former England coach (and a previous guest on this podcast) Hope Powell. Rachel has over 30 years of sports development experience, specialising in the development of women's football at The FA for almost 25 years. Rachel is currently the FA Women's Development Manager specialising in Diversity & Inclusion. Her main areas of responsibility are to develop football opportunities for females in under-represented communities. She is also a designated Expert in Women's Football Development at FIFA, and a Trustee at the Aston Villa FC Foundation. Rachel's been a key member in the implementation of the Barclays FA Women's Super League, and has managed participation and talent development programmes, along with heading up research into mixed football and initiating the Kick Off Your Career campaign. Rachel continues to be an integral part of The FA's work, through her experience working at both the domestic and international level of the women's game. It's no wonder that Rachel was the woman most suggested when we asked on social media for potential guest for The Game Changers. Her passion for the game and ability to drive change is extraordinary, but she does all this with huge humility. We explore the vast changes in women's football and attitudes to the women's game when she first joined the FA in the 90's. Rachel shares her own path in sports development and coaching, and we explore the development and future of the Women's Super League and the potential legacy of the Lionesses win in the Euros this summer. Rachel is very open about the challenge the FA faces in making women's football truly ‘For All' and shares her learnings and work in the diversity and inclusion space. We also explore what other sports can learn from the experience of women's football in the past decade.Thank you to Sport England who support The Game Changers Podcast through the National LotteryFind out more about The Game Changers podcast here.Hosted by Sue AnstissProduced by Sam Walker, What Goes On MediaA Fearless Women production

When they retire, some professional footballers train to become coaches, and a few rise to become the team manager or director of football. But very, very few players do what Maheta Molango has done, and cross the divide between the playing side and the C-suite, to become the CEO of a top club. It's a massive Church and State divide, a journey that reveals much about the person who is now in charge of the PFA, The Professional Footballers' Association, the union for all current and former footballers in the Premier League, the FA Women's Super League and the English Football Leagues.Molango passed his law degree during a playing career in Spanish and English football, going on to specialise in employment and sports law. In 2015 he was seconded to Atlético Madrid where he served as legal counsel, focused on contract and transfer negotiations and the following year was appointed the Chief Executive of RCD Mallorca after the takeover by former NBA star Steve Nash and Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver. His four years at RCD Mallorca saw the club achieve back-to-back promotions in to La Liga.Molango became Director of FIFA's Diploma in Club management programme, where he helps train executives, with speakers ranging from Arsène Wenger to Fabio Cannavaro. So this podcast is about the role of the players in the football business conversation. We discuss Molango's change agenda for the PFA, the launch of a new Business School and the broader questions on the relationship between those who run the game and the men and women who play it. This is an episode of ReThinking Sport, our series created in collaboration with Portas, the global strategy consultancy dedicated to sport and physical activity. My co-host for the podcast is Adam Paker, partner at Portas who was formerly Director of FIFA Marketing, delivering on the commercial rights of two FIFA World Cups, and Chief Executive of two British national sport federations, Commonwealth Games England and Swim England. For our weekly analysis of the sports business, subscribe to the Unofficial Partner newsletter that goes direct to the inbox of thousands of people across sport every Thursday.
