I live in Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire, having settled here in 2017 after leaving the RAF following 34 years service. I now work for Leidos UK Defence  division basically as an MOD logistics contractor - it's busy!I started multisport in 2002 after becoming frustrated during a military training course that involved running and swimming. I'd be the fastest runner but slowest swimmer virtually drowning actuallyI've race for RAF Triathlon for many years but now represent Newcastle Staffs Tri Club (NTC). I've had some UK age group success, with some national podiums and a win at the 2011 National Middle Distance Tri champs at Emberton Park (yes, I know Jon Cowell!). I've had some RAF representation also. Dabbled at Ironman distance, winning my age group at the 2014 Outlaws event. Races in Almere at the 2008 World Long Dist Championships and survived an aweful 4K swim to do well on the bike/run. Went through some turmoil after leaving the RAF and that impacted my multisport ambitions - but I kept going. Now focusing on Duathlon as I lost my swim mojo during COVID. Had a rejuvenated 2023 by getting in some balances training and qualified for the European Sprint Duathlon Champs at Darley Moor. Ran a 37:31 10k, 18:09 5k and a 57:46 25 mile bike TT. Now want to minimise the decline in performance as I age! That's why I started the YouTube channel described below. Started a YouTube Duathlon channel recently to document my training as I target the British standard distance duathlon champs on 24 Marc 24. Episode 22 "Football, a family tradition." Nigel Adderley has commentated for BBC, Talksport, BT Sport, as well as numerous others. In May 2019, Nigel commentated on his beloved Tranmere Rovers, as they faced Newport County in the league two playoff final.  12 months previous, Nigel had decided not to attend Tranmere's national league playoff final with Boreham Wood, following a painful defeat at Wembley 12 months previous against Forest Green Rovers. Five months before the playoff final, Nigel's father had passed away, and on the advice of his mother, Nigel took an offer to voice the Newport Tranmere playoff final for Talksport. After a nervy 119 minutes of action, Nigel belted out the words "Jennings with the header. . .Jennings has done it." After the match, Mark Saggers praised Nigel for being so composed and unbiased whilst commentating on his own team, and that his father would be proud of him. At that moment, Nigel broke down in tears. The emotions of the previous six months, coupled with the ecstasy of the late winner, all came out at once.  We talk to Nigel about his career as a commentator, the ups and the downs, his love of football, and its inextricable link to family.

Former Manchester United and Norther Ireland goalkeeper Harry Gregg has died aged 87. In an interview from 2008 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster - which claimed the lives of 20 passengers including Manchester United players and staff - Gregg talks to Mark Saggers about his role in saving the lives of those trapped in the plane, his friendship with other players, and how he was delighted with the club's training regime after first moving from Doncaster Rovers. Gregg made 247 appearances for Manchester United, following 99 for Doncaster Rovers. He finished his career at Stoke City. He made 25 appearances for Northern Ireland, and was named goalkeeper of the tournament at the 1958 World Cup.
