So it's that Derby tine of the year - whether you call it the the M1 or Herts/Beds Derby - its the match you just don't want to lose.We speak to Billy again from the Oak Road Hatter podcast about last Octobers game and everything that has happened since from Rob Edwards joining them and Slaven Bilic leaving us and how they are very content with the way things have gone since Nathan Jones departure. It's all measured and informed and then Justin and Carl weigh in and things all go off kilter, Pete is, as ever, too weeks late with his opposition "Star Man" assessment but as Carl puts it - "that's still just wrong").We look at players who have played for both clubs and find out who is a Mr Logic (from Viz) lookalike and who is only awarded a lanyard.Carl makes a depressing prediction which Justin disagrees with until its explained to him and then he agrees with it again.Big important game - but the usual nonsense from us!COYH(orns)!!!Huge thanks to our Patreons:Chris Giannone,RichWFC2,Steve Holliman,Ian Ball,Paul Fiander Turner,Lee Anselmo,John Parslow,Mark von Herkomer,Neil Silverstein,Steve Brown,Dave Lavender,Skyla Rose,Kasey Brown,Nipper Harrison,Boyd Mayover,Colin Payne,Gary Wood,Karl Campion,Uncle Ron,Kevin Kremen,The Big Le – Bofski,Greg Theaker,Malcolm Williams,Jason Rose,Michael Abrahams,Ian Bacon,Ken Green,Nick Nieuwland,& PDF.This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. So we capitulate to a QPR side that is devoid of its best most creative players, who have one once since the end of October - how Watfordy is that! The answer is very but that doesn't go far enough to describe the abject and disparate nature of this performance which was as far removed from a "new manger bounce" as you could get! Everyone is upset, Carl dislikes Pete and Justin's sofa's for being comfortable and warm (we suspect Loftus Road was neither of these things) and for Uncle Rons call that the manager (Slaven Bilic) was to blame. Ron replies but there are many other calls in the first part of a post mortem for a game that insted of feeling like a start of something - felt like levy breaking. Pete's hope that we might recreate the home atmosphere created at Loftus Road is given short shrift as the supporter base see the play offs, if not slip out of sight, certainly see hope of getting close to them evaporate. Mr Wilder the taks before you is now starkly clear.COYH!!! DNSYE is part of the TalkSPORT fan network. This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. Well we really wanted this to be an upbeat and hopeful post match phone in, but the game and performance were so low on quality, coherence, game plan or anything to really get us on the edge of our seat, that it ended up as a post mortem of the game and potentially Slaven Bilic's tenure at Watford. After 26 league games and a further transfer window are we in any better shape? This was the game when we had pretty much our main players back and with some game time in their legs but it fell well short of anything that might justify taking three points. On the plus side though - we are giving away some merch, we have launched the charity tee-shirts and we do fin dout what the Finnish word is for "sitting around drinking in your underpants" - so, you know, every days a school day!COYH!!!!!A huge thank you to our Patreons who help us to much of this daft nonsense:Chris GiannoneRichWFC2Steve HollimanIan BallPaul Fiander TurnerLee AnselmoJohn ParslowMark von HerkomerNipper HarrisonBoyd MayoverColin PayneGary WoodKarl CampionUncle RonKevin KremenThe Big Le – BofskiGreg TheakerMalcolm WilliamsJason RoseMichael AbrahamsIan BaconKen GreenNick NieuwlandPDFDNSYE is part of the TalkSPORT fan network. This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. Part One of the post Swansea City 4-0 away defeat. This felt like "the straw that broke the camels back". Lot's of calls and lots of frustration from fans far and wide!We have a number of regulars building on themes of culture and ownership as we see a team bereft of midfielders as it was of effort, commitment and resilience. We also hear from Darren calling all the way from Australia who even from the other side of the planet suffers along with the rest of us and, along with pretty mch everyone on the podcast delivers a good line in swearing momentarily taking the "Sweary Trophy" down under , until we are finally able to get hold of podcast regular Alex King driving back with his Uncle who reclaims for the "Sweary Cup" for Ireland. As ever lots of laughs to go along with the frustration. PART TWO coming very soon including the wonderful Andrew French calling in after the press conference to give the fans the low down on the situation with Slaven Bilic post game - and also, just to vent - cos he's a fan too! Championship football is back and so is From the Rookery End! After a break, we were raring to go as Watford lined up against Hull. And then the game kicked off… If Hornets fans were hoping for a scintilating performance to raise the temperature on a bitterly cold afternoon, it quickly became apparent that it wasn't going to happen, as Slaven Bilic' men recorded their second 0-0 in a row. Jas and Mike got together at the final whistle to discuss the game, which featured a concerning injury to Hamza Choudhury, leaving Watford's threadbare midfield even more depleted. The boys discuss how Jeremy Ngakia, Joesph Hungbo and Tom Dele Bashiru did after being handed rare starts, while Mike also speaks to Canadian football expert about the signing of exciting midfield prospect Ismael Kone. It was cold. It was frustrating. But it's good to be back. This is From the Rookery End. Come on you ‘Orns. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
So a break of a month for the World Cup but the performance felt as though the Bristol City 0-0 just kept going. Callers ask where the midfield has gone with Louza, Cleverly, Gosling and then Kayembe out for the start of the game closely followed by Hamza Choudhury - leaving us with a midfield duo of Tom Dele Bashiru and a redeployed Joao Pedro - so much for the break allowing us to clear up the injuries and get fit! On a bitterly cold afternoon it was frustrating for the Hornets as the Tigers had been conceding goals aplenty - but they seem to have tightened up over the break. Lots of opinion and thoughts as rumours emerge half way through that Slaven Bilic was not happy at the no show of Sarr following his World Cup adventure!COYH! Learn more about your ad choices. It was a frustrated Mike, Jas and DCW that hunkered down outside Vicarage Road to discuss a disappointing, but not too disheartening defeat to Coventry City. The Hornets were unable to make it four wins on the bounce, with a second half strike enough to give the visitors the points, despite a positive and impressive start to the game for Watford. The lads discuss what it was that went wrong, what could have been done differently - or whether it was simply one of those days for our heroes in yellow. There's also a look at Slaven Bilic and what his impact has been on he club since arriving, along with a look back at some of the Watford games that have been played in memorably bad weather conditions. So, with some fearing an "after the Lord Mayors Show" style result we saw different qualities in a less enthralling game and performance than last week as we faced a home team who were prepared to match any work rate we might apply. In truth, this was a classic away smash and grab of a performance, but we saw character and determination which we hope will be a hallmark under Slaven Bilic. In other news the podcast is two years old, we got some contrasting reviews of the Wigan Kebab and Peter's attempt to create interest in making a Watford equivalent was received about as well as the last time he went banging on about white hankies!!! Justin got very upset about pre-programmed tweets which we all thought was very funny - mainly cos he didn't and Wendover Horn started singing and making requests (for once not of Mrs Wendover!!!). Two wins on the bounce and two clean sheets!!! Bring on Cardiff then! Thank you so much for your support - it means the world to us. COYH! Learn more about your ad choices. PART ONE of the fan reaction following a second consecutive defeat under Slaven Bilic who is realising the poison chalice he has been handed. The verdict for many is in that the time to make voices heard beyond the online environment and inside or outside the stadium in terms of the treatment of the managerial model overall, the transfer situation over several windows, the Technical Director and "Super-Agent positions, the level of debt leveraged on the club, in part to the owner and of course the seemingly knee jerk reaction to jettison the previously stated level of support for Rob Edwards by clearly not supporting him with the squad and not providing anything like the level of time required to change the toxic culture that clearly exists at the club - plus it would be nice if ALL the players even pretended to care! So in Slaven Bilic's (soon to be known as Slavic according to Ellie) first game in charge we discuss a 4-0 away win at the potteries and all are quite stunned at how well, especially in the second half, we play. Some think Gaspar wasn't great in the first half, some say he was, but all agree that by the final whistle - it didn't really matter. The departure of Rob Edwards and the ownership issue is very raw with people and we will see if it remains so moving forward if Slaven's team can take this one game, and turn it into momentum for the season.
