In this week's show, The YP's football writing team of Stuart Rayner and Leon Wobschall join host Mark Singleton once again, starting off in the only place possible – Leeds United's promotion back to the Premier League. They also look ahead to Sheffield United's play-off challenge as they look to join their Yorkshire rivals in the top tier. What next for Huddersfield Town as their already-fading League One play-off hopes are finally extinguished, while the panel assess Barnsley's decision to appoint Conor Hourihane on a permanent basis as their head coach. In League Two, we preview this Saturday's Yorkshire showdown between Doncaster Rovers and Bradford City – both teams gunning for promotion AND the title. As ever, there is also time to pick a Team of the Week and a Player of the Week.
Better late than never, as they say, for this week's pod... though with the two results we have to talk about, maybe never would have been a better option? Defeats to Doncaster Rovers and Chesterfield leave United teetering on the edge of falling into non-league football - it's a must win-game this weekend, so can they perform a minor miracle and get all three points against Newport County? In this episode of the Brunton Bugle, we look back on the away defeat against Donny and the Spireites, before previewing the huge game with the exiles at Brunton Park - plenty covered including:
In this week's show, the YP football writing team of Stuart Rayner and Leon Wobschall join host Mark Singleton and start off by looking at the race for automatic promotion in the Championship, the past week seeing Sheffield United get their noses in front, thanks to their impressive Friday night win over Coventry City, while Leeds United slipped up by conceding a late equaliser at home to Swansea City the following day. Elsewhere, Doncaster Rovers ensured their hopes of automatic promotion from League Two remain in their own hands, following up a 3-0 win over Carlisle United with a 2-2 draw against leaders Walsall. There are growing concerns for Huddersfield Town's play-off hopes in League One after defeats to Charlton Athletic and Lincoln City which saw them fail to score a single goal.Steve Evans' second period in charge at Rotherham United ended badly when he was sacked after a dispiriting 4-0 defeat at home to struggling Crawley Town. Replacement Matt Hamshaw enjoyed a promising start to his interim spell in charge, though, with the Millers winning 2-0 at Northampton Town. Also, Leon plumps for a Team of the Week this time around, while Stuart focuses on the standout Player of the Week.
Two wins in a row continues to elude United, but a hard-earned point after coming from behind twice against MK Dons shows the fighting spirit remains - can they keep the unbeaten run going and get two positives results from tough away games at Doncaster Rovers and Chesterfield and keep alive the fight to stay in the EFL?In this episode of the Brunton Bugle, we look back on the 2-2 draw against the Dons and look ahead to the trips to face Donny and the Spireites - plenty covered including:
Billy Sharp is a home town hero. A 'Roy of the Rovers' style striker in his native Sheffield and a blade through and through. On this episode, David Prutton travels to Billy's home turf to talk about a career that has not only seen him score more than 100 goals for his boyhood club, but also move away to the South Coast with Southampton and travel abroad to LA Galaxy, before returning closer to home with his current club Doncaster Rovers, who will always have a special place in his heart. This is a brilliant chat about what it means to be in the business of scoring goals, and understanding the feelings of the fans on the terraces.
On this week's show, The YP's football writing team of Stuart Rayner and Leon Wobschall join host Mark Singleton to discuss the latest news from the Yorkshire football scene. They start with assessing the race for automatic promotion in the Championship, in particular Sheffield United's credentials of securing a top-two finish, as they battle it out with Yorkshire rivals Leeds United and Burnley. Elsewhere, it is the automatic promotion aspirations of Doncaster Rovers that come under the spotlight in League Two, Grant McCann's side letting a two-goal lead slip at the weekend against Swindon Town, although they still retained a place in the automatic promotion top three spots. They also discuss the sacking of Michael Duff by Huddersfield Town in the wake of their 1-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers, a result which saw them drop out of the play-off positions. Was owner Kevin Nagle right to make a chance in the dugout, or was he too hasty? Also, the writers choose their team and player of the week. Please note, this podcast was recorded BEFORE Barnsley sacked head coach Darrell Clarke and Leeds United's 2-0 Championship win over Millwall on Wednesday night.
In this week's podcast, YP football writer Leon Wobschall joins host Mark Singleton to look over the latest news from the Yorkshire football scene. They start at the top of the Championship where Leeds United and Sheffield United continue to slug it out – both hoping to secure an automatic promotion spot. They then turn their attention to the Yorkshire derby between Barnsley and Huddersfield Town and compare the respective League One play-off hopes of both teams. In League Two, meanwhile, Leon gives his take on Doncaster Rovers' climb back into the automatic promotion spots after their “biggest win of the season” – according to manager Grant McCann – at Morecambe. PLUS the duo pick out a player and a team of the week.
In this week's podcast, YP football writers Stuart Rayner and Leon Wobschall join host Mark Singleton to discuss the latest on the Yorkshire football scene, starting with Leeds United marching on together at the top of the Championship and free to do so following their FA Cup exit at the hands of Millwall. Sheffield United are not particularly fluid at the moment but they are finding a way to stay in touch with their Yorkshire rivals at the top – will that be enough? The promotion ambitions of Rotherham United have taken a hit recently but they stopped the rot with a hard-fought draw at Blackpool – but have their chances of making the play-offs gone? And in League Two, the panel look at the automatic promotion credentials of Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers and whether both teams can secure a top-three finish.
With another round of fixtures coming up with huge significance at the top and bottom of the League Two table, Jordan and Keiron take a look at the games taking place this weekend, and what they think the outcomes will be. The two also take a look at the action from the six midweek matches, as well as a discussion about different awaydays, as well as Keiron dropping his Xbox controller onto a glass, shattering it. Ben and Matt discuss Palace's FA Cup fourth round win in South Yorkshire.
Grimsby backed up their impressive win at Bromley last weekend with an equally impressive performance and result at home to Carlisle this Saturday, showing perseverance to come from behind and win 2-1. The panellists begin by discussing the growing benefits of this recent switch in formation, a dominant attacking display and stand out performer Jason Dadi Svanthorrson. They then go on to debate the controversial penalty decisions in the game, why keeping Justin Obikwu fit and playing alongside Danny Rose could prove pivotal to our chances of a play off push and salute fan favourite Kieran Green on his 100th game for the club… and his new moustache!Doncaster Rovers fan Daniel Nice joins the show in part two to help preview the Mariners trip to our local-ish rivals next Saturday and explains in detail how the South Yorkshire side have been progressing since their convincing win in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. In this week's show, YP football writers Stuart Rayner and Leon Wobschall join host Mark Singleton to discuss the latest news and developments in and around the Yorkshire football scene. They start by looking the two games played by Championship leaders Leeds United in the past few days, beating Norwich City before battlking out a stale 0-0 with promotion rivals Burnley. Have Hull City turned a corner following their 3-0 win over second-placed Sheffield United and can Huddersfield Town quickly stop the rot that has seen them lose their last two games and ground on the top two of Birmingham City and Wycombe Wanderers. Doncaster Rovers maintained their push for automatic promotion by edging out Yorkshire rivals Harrogate Town ahead of Wednesday night's trip to Barrow, but they have joined in the race for a top three spot by Bradford City, who boosted their own chances of getting out of League Two with wins over leaders Walsall and struggling Morecambe. Could Yorkshire have two teams going up from the fourth tier?

In our first Goodison Park: My Home interview published in 2025 – the year Everton finally depart the Grand Old Lady – we speak to the Blues' favourite Yorkshireman Ian Snodin. Despite hailing from the other side of the Pennines, ‘Snods' as he is affectionately known by Evertonians, became a True Blue and adored by the Goodison fanbase when snubbed Liverpool's Kenny Dalglish to accept Howard Kendall's offer to join the club in 1987. Ian's decision was vindicated as he was rewarded with a League Championship medal in his first season on Merseyside and his hilarious tale about what happened to him on the way home from that title success clinched at Norwich City is worth watching the interview alone! He also speaks candidly about his upbringing in a mining community, his formative years in the game playing alongside his elder brother Glynn at Doncaster Rovers and the influence that Billy Bremner had on him both there and at Leeds United plus the varied role he now plays as an ambassador for Everton Football Club. He also touches upon his recent struggle with memory loss and the possibility of having CTE (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy). CTE is a brain condition thought to be linked to repeated head injuries and blows to the head. It slowly gets worse over time and leads to dementia, but with the right help and support can manage the symptoms. Steven Leslie Wignall (born 17 September 1954) is an English former professional football manager and player. During his playing career, Steve played as a Central defender and made over 600 appearances in the Football League. After Aldershot went out of business in 1992, a new club, Aldershot Town was formed, and Steve became their first-ever manager, winning back-to-back promotions before former club Colchester United signed him in January 1995. During his time at Colchester, he led the club to promotion via the play-offs in 1978/79 and to the final of the Associates Members Cup the year before. He stayed as manager until he resigned in January 1999, believing he had taken the club as far as he could. In April 2000, he joined Stevenage Borough and was offered a two-year contract but never signed it and, when approached a month later by former club Doncaster Rovers, he decided to manage them instead, having only managed 8 games at Stevenage. He managed Doncaster for just one season, In 2003, he became manager of Southend United but only lasted seven months. He also worked as a first-team coach and assistant at Wivenhoe Town from 2005 before leaving the club due to financial reasons in January 2008.#HeartTransplant#EbsteinsAnomaly#RareCondition#HealthJourney#LifeChangingDiagnosis#MentalHealth#Vulnerability#SelfCompassion#PostTraumaticGrowth#MedicalMiracle#BBCSports#Inspiration#Cardiology#Surgery#Podcast#Healthcare#HeartHealth#MedicalBreakthrough#EmotionalJourney#SupportSystem#HealthcareHeroes#PatientStories#CardiologyCare#MedicalJourney#LifeLessons#MentalWellness#HealthAwareness#InspirationalTalk#LivingWithIllness#RareDiseaseAwareness#SharingIsCaring#MedicalSupport#BBCReporter#HeartDisease#PodcastInterview#HealthTalk#Empowerment#Wellbeing#HealthPodcast#ChronicIllness#joepasquale#mywishcharity#comedy#funny#jokeCheck out our new website at www.whostomanddick.comCheck out our new website at www.whostomanddick.com

Rough is one way to describe it. Three defeats on the spin and play off hopes dwindling. It's not quite turning out to be the season we hoped it would be. Sadly for Mike Dodds, it was more Doncaster Rovers at home than it was Leeds United at home and a shambolic first 45 gave Sunderland far to much to do at the SOL against Swansea City. There's plenty apathy but more than a handful of questions to ponder as Brad and Dave join me to go over another Sunderland defeat. Enjoyed the episode?
