Great to Chat to Mark Saggers for the latest episode of our pod. Mark got in touch via e mail and wrote:My name is Mark Saggers and I am 59 years young. I move into the 60-64 Age Cat in 2024. I live in Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire, having settled here in 2017 after leaving the RAF following 34 years service. I now work for Leidos UK Defence  division basically as an MOD logistics contractor - it's busy!I started multisport in 2002 after becoming frustrated during a military training course that involved running and swimming. I'd be the fastest runner but slowest swimmer virtually drowning actuallyI've race for RAF Triathlon for many years but now represent Newcastle Staffs Tri Club (NTC). I've had some UK age group success, with some national podiums and a win at the 2011 National Middle Distance Tri champs at Emberton Park (yes, I know Jon Cowell!). I've had some RAF representation also. Dabbled at Ironman distance, winning my age group at the 2014 Outlaws event. Races in Almere at the 2008 World Long Dist Championships and survived an aweful 4K swim to do well on the bike/run. Went through some turmoil after leaving the RAF and that impacted my multisport ambitions - but I kept going. Now focusing on Duathlon as I lost my swim mojo during COVID. Had a rejuvenated 2023 by getting in some balances training and qualified for the European Sprint Duathlon Champs at Darley Moor. Ran a 37:31 10k, 18:09 5k and a 57:46 25 mile bike TT. Now want to minimise the decline in performance as I age! That's why I started the YouTube channel described below. Started a YouTube Duathlon channel recently to document my training as I target the British standard distance duathlon champs on 24 Marc 24. This podcast is over 6 years old now and during that time, we've had many inspirational guests. Our guest this week absolutely falls into that category!   In 2012, Sue Reynolds weighed 335lbs (that's 150kg) and couldn't even tie her own shoelaces. She was about as far away from being a triathlete as one can be. Her first exercise session amounted to a 100yd walk to her neighbour's driveway and back, and it left her exhausted.   One year later she'd lost over 100lbs and entered her first triathlon still weighing 226lbs. Imagine the courage that took!   She continued on her journey, exercising regularly and eating real food. Today she weighs in at 135lbs and has two triathlon world titles to her name (Aquabike and Mixed Team Relay). This is a story of courage, inspiration and hope to discover the athlete inside. Our discussion covers many subjects, including:   There are no quick fixes (15:10) Sweat is a trophy (22:45) Everyone is an athlete (30:00) The start line is the victory (35:40) Success mantras and the first triathlon at 285lbs (36:30)  Kind words and how one man at the finish line changed my life (52:00) The process is the fun part (1:11:00)   To find out more about Sue Reynolds please visit these channels: Website - suereynolds.net Facebook - Sue Reynolds Triathlon X (Twitter) - @SueReynoldsTri Instagram - sue.reynolds   Go here to get your copy of Sue's book The Athlete Inside: The Transforming Power of Hope, Tenacity, and Faith    Links to my referenced podcasts: Matt Pendola - How to unlock FREE running speed in 12 weeks Bobby McGee - How to be a more efficient runner   To contact Beth regarding Life Coaching, please email her at Info@BethanyWardLifeCoaching.uk.   To leave a review of the podcast on Apple podcasts CLICK HERE.   Sports Nutrition questions - if you have a sports nutrition question that you would like answered on the podcast, please email it to me via Beth@TheTriathlonCoach.com.   Join our SWAT/High Performance Human tribe using this link, with a happiness guarantee! Although not a sport, it was to prove effective in laying down a good base for her fitness in later years.Crystal was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, she was told it would be chronic. Refusing to simply accept it, she began making changes to her health and fitness regimen –  she started running and biking, when an injury forced her into the pool she taught herself to swim and after a conversation with her friends was persuaded to  enter and train for a triathlon. After getting her first one under her belt she got the bug and now an accomplished athlete, she has represented the USA over at the world champs in Abu Dhabi earlier  this year.Since she began training and competing, Crystals own health has improved. Her “chronic” autoimmune disease is now in remission. She has learned the importance of believing that she can, and she hopes to share and model that lesson for others.Since competing in her first sprint triathlon in June 2017, she has learned how to improve at every event, finishing an Olympic distance triathlon only a year later. crystal, who has  qualified for USA Triathlon's Age Group National Championships on several occasions, has also completed the Ironman triathlon in Lake Placid, .Crystal says her story is not that of an individual who was told she could not. Great to speak to Jeff and hear how things are done in the USA as well as his awesome story.Jeff says:"My own background in sport goes back to early childhood.  My father and his brother were American football players of note, earning university scholarships and playing briefly professionally in the NFL.  I grew up playing many of the ball sports, like soccer (I know, ‘football' to you) and baseball, and as I grew taller, basketball, and then as I filled out a bit more, American football.  I played as a quarterback through my college years in the mid-80s and then had a short stint playing American football as a professional player-coach in the U.K., in a semi-pro league that just preceded the old World Football League minor league system for the NFL, for a team in the Midlands called the West Bromwich Fireballs. I returned to the U.S. and embarked on a 30-year career in financial services with General Electric and a family with my wife of 29 years (we have two grown children, ages 26 and 22) and stayed somewhat active during that time playing basketball, and had a brief dalliance on the practice squad of the U.S. Olympic team handball team while living in Atlanta around the time of the '96 Summer Olympics there. It was not until I reached age 45 that I moved into endurance sports, after re-injuring a surgically reconstructed knee playing basketball, and slogged through my first sprint triathlon as a fundraiser for a chromosomal birth condition our daughter lives with.  Needless to say, I caught the multisport bug – it has moved from a weekend hobby to a lifestyle -  and I've progressed since then to do some 75+ endurance events, mainly short and middle distance triathlons, with Ironman 70.3 as my longest distance to date.  I first qualified to represent Team USA in age group world championships in Aquabike in 2018 and have now raced in World Triathlon multisport events across various disciplines in Spain, Slovakia, Germany and next year plan to race in Australia … though, as Dr. Jim noted in your podcast, “the elite podium-level racers are definitely not worried about me”.  I'm in it for the amazing experience of representing my country's jersey at these events, being a good ambassador for the sport and the great camaraderie that happens with age-group cohorts from across the world.  I have enormous respect for Team GB and its members. More recently, I've become more involved with helping others get into the life-changing experience of endurance sports, coaching local cycling classes and serving as an active board leader of a local triathlon club in our Utah community, and have most recently served as a race guide and push/assist partner for young para-athletes.hope you enjoy this one as much  as I did.You an follow Jeff on Instagram @schreibinutahYou can Find us on Instagram @amp_1967X : agegroupmultisportpodcastFacebook : AMPGBfind all our episodes on our websiteWebsite is : https://agegroupmultisportpodcast.buzzsprout.com/email: agegroupmultisportpodcast@gmail.comif you are an agegroup athlete and would like to come on the pod, get in touch.

It was great to hear from Andy Tucker who dropped us an email and said he would like to come on the pod and when we found out he was a Guinness world record holder, we couldn't wait to hear what record he had broken.Andy didn't have any sporting background as a kid, but like many kids, spent most of his time playing football and riding his bike. As a young father he realised that he needed to get fitter to be around for his son and so a seed was planted. Andy says "I started in 2012 with my first Triathlon, and am currently training for the Ironman Nice world champs.I have taken a few AG wins, been to the 70.3 world champs and am racing my first GBR age group race at the European Champs in Menen on the Aquabike discipline and hoping for a good result! We are delighted to bring you our chat with Agegroup Athlete Darren BirdDarren Says:I'm now 42 years of age, 43 in August. I'm a serving firefighter in the London fire brigade and have been for 21+ years. I joined at the age of 21. I'm actually a 3rd generation Firefighter following in the footsteps of my father and grandfather which you would think is why I'm in the industry as it's a family thing but it's actually a very different reason which I will go on to explain at some point further on! Sports participation wise, triathlon wasn't even something I had heard of until my late 20's and I didn't take part in my 1st one until 2011 at the age of 31. I was always an active child, I always had lots of energy and if I didn't exercise it out then I think I could be considered a pain in the arse which to be fair is not to dissimilar to now! I would always be out on my bike or over the park playing football after school which I know now makes me sound like one of them old moaning generation but that is how it was back then! Ride to the park, play football or tennis and get back for dinner. I started playing rugby at 6 or 7 years of age but I think then the youngest team started at under 8s or 9s so I was allowed unofficially to join in training with my brothers team but not play until I was older to start legally. There was something I really loved about rugby. I think it was the pure physicality of tackling. I was reasonably good (even if I do say so myself!) but football was always the cooler sport in my mind as that's what all my school mates played and we would even play that after rugby whilst our parents were all chatting and having a beer in the clubhouse. I started playing football in little league on a Saturday and rugby on Sundays. By complete chance I got a new Guvnor on my watch at work who used to race as an age grouper for GB at triathlon. She mentioned it to me a few times but I kind of palmed it off as I hadn't swam really other than messing about on holidays since my parents used to take me to swim club as a child. The more I raced the more I chased that buzz! I applied for a GB slot for the 1st time in 2015 and took part in the European long distance triathlon championships. I had loads of friends and family come to support me. I was so proud putting on that GB suit! With covid and the going through a divorce and now sharing custody 50-50 off my son, racing has had to take a back seat for a while! I do really miss it and can't wait to put on a GB suit again one day! I think the time away has probably made me hungrier! I will certainly appreciate that moment next time I'm stood on that start line absolutely shitting myself!Follow Darren on Instagram @dazza_birdFind us on Instagram @amp_1967Twitter  agegroupmultisportpodcastFacebook AMPGBfind all our episodes on our websiteWebsite is : agegroupmultisportpodcast.buzzsprout.comemail: agegroupmultisportpodcast@gmail.comif you are an agegroup athlete and would like to come on the pod, get in touch.if you have enjoyed this pod please leave a rating wherever you listen.

On this Episode we chat to Agegroup athlete Julie Gadsden who is a member of the GB Agegroup Team and competes in the 70-74 agegroup.Julie tells us "I had no interest in sport at all throughout school and all the way up to the age of 40 – though I did a lot of sailing and also eventually took up mountaineering.  I decided to try to start running around the age of 40 when I was commuting to work in London, just to save my sanity.  I managed about 50 metres before collapsing in a heap – but persisted and became a very slow social runner.  (It turned out I had asthma, which explained why I always hated sport at school.)  I used to ride a bike so I entered a local sprint tri relay event in 1994 and then my first solo sprint race in 1995.  I was always extremely slow but enjoyed the social side of it – and just the sense of achievement.  I did a few local events – some standard, some sprint distance – up to around 2000, when I took a break for around 10 years and focussed on running (slowly!)."" I retired in 2011 (at the age of 60) and decided to get back into triathlon, now focussing entirely on sprint distance.  I entered the local race in Petersfield (Hampshire) and shortly after joined Petersfield Triathlon Club.  I bumbled along happily, becoming ever more involved in the club, until I went to a triathlon training weekend in 2015 and ended up signing up with a coach (Jo Lewis of Tri50) to see if I could be a bit smarter with my training.  Jo persuaded me I could have a go at qualifying for the GB age group team (which I didn't know anything about) – I thought she was probably mad!  But she got me to the start of the World Sprint Tri Championships in Rotterdam in 2017 (qualifying by the skin of my teeth).  And since then it's become something of a habit – competing in Glasgow, Lausanne, Valencia and Munich).  Along the way I qualified as a Level 2 triathlon coach and had a couple of years of coaching myself and a year or so ago I signed up with Ade Bungay of Goal Specific Coaching who is now coaching me.  The highlight of my triathlon journey so far was getting third place in Munich last year in the 70-74 age group (I am now 71)." "I always try to view the international events as something to enjoy – but I do work myself hard in the training to get myself there in the best form I can.  As a retired scientist I enjoy learning more about the research which underpins training and performance, particularly for the older athlete.  This year some friends from my club persuaded me to throw my hat in the ring for the Aquathlon teams, and I have been accepted for the World and European Aquathlon Championships (Ibiza and Menen) as well as the Sprint Tri events in Madrid and Hamburg.  There are some astounding athletes in the older age groups, so my aim is to stay fit, train hard and just see where it gets me."Hope you enjoy Julies story as much as we did. Find us on Instagram @amp_1967Twitter  agegroupmultisportpodcastFacebook AMPGBfind all our episodes on our websiteWebsite is : agegroupmultisportpodcast.buzzsprout.comemail: agegroupmultisportpodcast@gmail.comif you are an agegroup athlete and would like to come on the pod, get in touch.if you have enjoyed this pod please leave a rating wherever you listen.

Stop the press! In a correction to what we may have said in the podcast, the Xterra events DO NOT allow gravel or cyclo cross bikes. You are only permitted to ride a mountain bike with straight handlebars. Full British Triathlon rules are available HERE.   Have you ever thought about doing a triathlon or multisport race in a different format? There are plenty to chose from these days - swim/run, Aquabike, crossTri and Xterra.   In 2001 I participated in the first Xterra event to be hosted in the UK, and I thoroughly enjoyed the day out. It's always been a surprise to me that this format of triathlon has never really taken off in the UK as it's really popular in the US and Europe.   Today I'm joined by Tim Lloyd, founder of Always Aim High. I'm sure you have heard of their adventure triathlon series comprising Slateman, Snowman and Sandman in N Wales as well as a range of other events. And now they have taken over the Xterra license and will be promoting this year's event (and hopefully for many years to come) at Weston Park in Shropshire. Unable to exercise properly, surfed for years but in his own words "got fat". Andrew discovered that cycling helped all the back spasms from the arthritis, and realised regular movement controlled it.He has now been doing Triathlon for nearly 10 years. He has been Welsh age group champ, Brit champ, Euro champ . He didn't have much time for too much sport in the beginning within that career as he was away on operations or on exercise. A little later into his career he took an opportunity to represent the Navy at Bobsleigh, which he did and then did 3 inter-service championships. he even had an opportunity to race for the junior GB squad. From there he moved base where the Royal Marines started playing rugby league. Brian got involved and eventually represented the Marines and Navy. Brian left the forces and joined the fire service. He continued to play rugby league in a semi pro league. After a while he switched codes again and played both Union and league for about 6 years. Ended up starting a club in the town he lived in and continued playing for a few more seasons. During Brians time in the fire service, he got into cycling after a tragic accident of a colleague. The team cycled to Bournemouth and Brian did it on a borrowed bike. It was this event that gave Brian the bugler cycling. A colleague and former para on his watch, asked Brian to do a triathlon and then it became a bit of a competition between them. They raced sprints first and then aimed to qualify for the worlds in Vancouver which they both did. Unfortunately due to finances he couldn't take his spot. From there he was pretty hooked. He carried on with rugby and represented the county and Royal Navy at rugby Union in the vets and he  still plays today even around his Triathlon training. I took up track cycling for a while but missed the challenge of multi sport so signed up for another challenge and did an Ultra. That gave me the bug once more so completed another Ironman distance event. Brian left the fire service for the police, but found that it wasn't really working for him so an opportunity came for him to go back to the Royal Marines as a full time reservist working with cadets and schools which is where he is now. please enjoy this pod and if you do please leave a review, like and comment.you can follow Brian on Instagram @stokesy72if your interested in the Triathlon Guys Events duathlon in March you can get 15% off using the code AMP15 their website is https://www.thetriguys.co.ukand you can find them on instagram @thetriguys_coachingYou can listen to this AMP episode and all the others on most podcast platforms Find us on Instagram @amp_1967Twitter  agegroupmultisportpodcastFacebook AMPGBWebsite is : agegroupmultisportpodcast.buzzsprout.comemail: agegroupmultisportpodcast@gmail.com

He went undefeated in 21 straight races for an incredible two-year winning streak. He has been inducted into the Hall of Fame for IRONMAN, USA Triathlon, and the International Triathlon Union. Allen has coached for 28 years and is now a coach on the TriDot platform.   Best Questions and Answer from Thursday, July 28th from 8-9pm CT:   Question: Why did you choose TriDot?   Answer: Paving the way for how this industry is going to change. This is the future of triathlon training. It's reached a point where there's too much data for a coach to evaluate and adjust training fast enough. Been watching this trend for many years. "This is what I've been looking for and I didn't know it existed."   Question: Besides nutrition, what is the diff between training for 70.3 and 140.6?  Do you recommend 70.3 first?   Answer: Experience is helpful to learn pacing and begin to understand nutrition. Misconception that the training is double. Fitness to do a 70.3 is 2/3 to 3/4s of what you need for an Ironman. Those long rides and runs get you the remaining training. You pace your race to give it everything you have for the distance. An Ironman feels a little bit longer than a 70.3.   Question: What is the most important skill to master as an athlete? Coach?   Answer: Pacing yourself. Follow the training, be consistent and make it a lifestyle. As a coach, respond to an athlete when they have a need. If it takes two weeks to get back to an athlete. I try to be very responsive. TriDot allows me to see what I do very efficiently. "Using this technology is a lot like using an MRI to diagnose an ailment vs a stethoscope."   Question: Key to a fast marathon?   Answer: Have pace yourself on the swim and the bike. Manage yourself, pace yourself and nutrition. Get extra fitness on the bike. Get out of the water fresh. Over distance in the swim and over distance on the bike. Marathon focus on preparing for what you can take in for nutrition. Do the brick workouts with the 20-40 minutes for running.   Question: What is the mental strategy when you want to skip a workout?  Advice to keep attacking it and getting better?   Answer: It's important to identify the key workouts each week. It's more important to balance the sport with the rest of your life. You don't want to lose all the other things that are important to save 3 minutes on the bike. If you find those key workouts, they will give you 80-90% of what you need. The other workouts will help, but they only get you the remaining 10-20%. If getting all your workouts in causes stress in other parts of your life, that's not the goal. If you are feeling like not training, you need to ask yourself if you are recovered enough. Listen to your body. There's no device or metric that can replace how you feel. I like to get out the door and if after 10 minutes you feel like you're full of lactate or feeling lethargic, then turn around and go back home.   Question: What are some of your mental strategies during tough spots in IRONMAN?   Answer: How you deal with it starts long before the race. There will things that will come up that you couldn't have expected. You don't need a perfect race to race perfectly. If your goggles get kicked off, put them back on. You drop a water bottle. Shake it off and get an extra the next time. When you get to the whining phase, I have to change the channel. Get to a mental state where you take a big breath, stop the voice in my head, and analyze what's going on. Maybe I can walk a bit and be steady quiet and engaged. What ever my potential attention and energy I can bring, bring 100% of that. What's my purpose? Do I drop out? My body is working at 20% capacity. If I can give 100% of the 20%, I'll do that. You will be proud of the peace, purpose and quiet and strength to finish.   Question: What is your inner dialogue when you are racing? Do you have a phrase or mantra?   Answer: You should have the positive affirmation. Early in my career I tried that. When you do fall apart, I was never able to remember the mantras. I'm not light as a feather on the marathon, I feel like an elephant. The most powerful place to race from is a quiet mind. In a way you tune everything out but yourself and your process and engaged in the moment and not judging. Try to lock in and give everything I have. There's a magical switch point where all of a sudden you realize you are giving everything I have that day.   Question: How do the principals in your book show up in your coaching?   Answer: Fit Soul / Fit Body. Each of those elements got me from trying to win to winning IRONMAN. Quiet the mind Key. What is your Quest? Why does this have important for you? Is it part of the fulfillment of being a part of a community? Live what you asked for? What does it take to win the IRONMAN? Follow what TriDot is telling you to do. Go hard when you need and easy when you need. Taught me how to be fulfilled even when I have bad days of training and racing. Nothing is inherently good or bad, it's just how you react to it. Phil Liggett looks like Mark Allen is a matching. I was just steady and controlled.   Question: Tips for older athletes and taking days off.   Answer: I'm 64 and I don't take days off. You need to be tuned into your body and take a day off and recover and regenerate. You need to eat a little more good quality protein to stimulate the body to rebuild. Strength training is also key. It can be body weights and cords. If you just swim, bike and run.  20 year study on Boston Marathoners. 1 group just run. 2nd group that did strength and running kept all their muscle mass. Sleep and recovery. Protein and strength training.   Question: What advice do you have for amateurs for longevity in the sport.   Answer: Be consistent. Be steady with your training and recovery. You can only absorb so much stress. If you overdo it you will become stressed and overtrained. This sport should bring fulfillment and happiness.   Question: If I go into my anaerobic zone during my aerobic, will I burn carbohydrate the rest of the workout.   Answer: Depends on how long and how fit. When you aerobic, your ancient genetics detects danger and the adrenal system starts and turns off fat burning and continues to burn carbohydrate. It's a survival adaptation. You go into high stress physiology. It's not a faucet you turn on and off. It's more like a river that continues to flow for several hours. That's why people bonk.   Question: What's the best marker for choosing to go pro?   Answer: What do you think your potential is? If you feel like your just getting going, go for it. If you're just barely there and you think your at your potential.   Question: What hydration / nutrition to avoid cramps?   Answer: Different cramps have different reasons. Early in the swim your feet cramp - typically when you are under high stress. Your body excretes sodium and magnesium when under stress and your adrenal system kicks in. Okay to have a little anxiety. As best as you can load up on sodium and magnesium. You need to keep on top of magnesium all year. If late in the race the quads cramp, it's because you are putting more load on the quads during the race. Do strength work so you have extra muscle to utilize. Calf cramps come from being under stress for a long time. When your adrenal system gets depleted you get calf cramps. Side stitches come from fast shallow breathing. Slow down the breathing and take deeper breathing. Otherwise rub your knuckles on the sternum.   Question: What gets you most jazzed about the future of the sport?   Answer: Seeing this whole new generation of pros and redefining what is possible. We've had several generations. You can tell some of these great athletes like Daniel and Alistair are on the way out. The way these new athletes like Kristian Blummenfelt and the Sam Longs and Laura Phillips are a new generation that want to race the top folks. Not like it used to be were the new pros were scared cats.     Our News is sponsored by Buddy Insurance. Buddy Insurance gives you peace of mind to enjoy your training and racing to the fullest. It was a dream start and it set up a memorable day for Ashleigh.   A well-paced bike ride followed, and the addition of a killer run resulted in $100k first prize courtesy of a comprehensive victory in the debut event of the 2022 PTO Tour. With a wedding coming up, it was quite timely! Gentle delivered in some style.   Swim – Lopes leads the way Brazilian short-course specialist and middle distance debutant Lopes, said goodbye to the rest of the field inside the first few minutes of the three-lap, 2km swim at Hawrelak Park.   With the field including Lauren Brandon (USA) and Sara Perez Sala (ESP), among the top-ranked swimmers from the PTO's number-crunching, that was an impressive start. Given that she exited the swim at Tokyo 2020 on the feet of Jess Learmonth in a very select group at the Olympic Games, perhaps not surprising – but still very impressive.   Brandon and Perez Sala were in the small chase group along with Julie Derron (SUI) and Gentle. That represented a fantastic start for the Australian, who had been a minute down on Perez Sala in the opening discipline (over a shorter distance), at CLASH Miami. If she could maintain that to the swim exit in Edmonton, a great start to her day.   Lopes did lead into T1, but Brandon was only 12 seconds back after a strong third loop, with Derron, Perez Sala and Gentle a further 10 seconds down. Unfortunately for Lopes, going the wrong side of one of the swim buoys would cost her a 30-second penalty later in the race.   Among the pre-race favourites chasing were Holly Lawrence (GBR), Paula Findlay (CAN), Ellie Salthouse (AUS) and Nicola Spirig (SUI) – all around 1:10 down, but not the best start for Emma Pallant-Browne (GBR) or Laura Philipp (GER) in relative terms. The Brit was 3:35 down, with Laura a few seconds further back. The German had four athletes behind her, and 27 ahead… time to go to work.   Bike – fast Findlay takes control The bike course in Edmonton comprised of four laps of 20km. As the race started to take shape going into lap two, Lopes – on her standard WTCS road bike – was still holding strong at the front but home favourite Findlay was now only 10 seconds back in second place, having made up 1:15 on the bike.   Gentle, Salthouse, Spirig (road bike, of course!) and Derron followed, just over 30 seconds down.   India Lee was seemingly having a great day (9th at this stage, +1:46) and riding just in front of Lawrence. Philipp had moved up to 16th (+2:57) and was riding quicker then everyone except Findlay.   Pallant-Browne's day looked as though it was all but over however. From riding with Philipp, she dropped from the timings suddenly, with news subsequently confirmed that she had suffered a front wheel flat. Very frustrating, and with $1million on the line and the last chance to display Collins Cup form, potentially very costly too.   The end of lap two represented the halfway mark of the ride, by which point Findlay's charge had seen her take the lead and continue to set the fastest splits on two wheels.   Findlay crossed the 40km time split with an advantage of just over a minute on a quartet of Gentle, Salthouse, Spirig and Lopes. Jocelyn McCauley was sixth, 2:08 back. Philipp was now in seventh, 2:40 back and continuing to gain ground.   Another lap on and the Findlay lead had grown to 1:34, with the chasing quartet of Gentle, Salthouse, Spirig and Lopes together. McCauley was still having a great race, 2:16 back in sixth, with Philipp holding pace to Findlay, but still 2:42 back in seventh. She would be hoping to reduce that a touch ahead of the upcoming 18km run.   Completing the top 10 at the 60km mark on the bike were Skye Moench (USA), Jacqui Hering (USA) and Lawrence (GBR), four minutes behind the hometown leader.   McCauley's progress continued through the final lap, which saw Findlay start the 18km run with a significant lead. Following on the four-lap course were Gentle (+2:04), Salthouse (+2:14), McCauley (+2:19), Philipp (+2:32) and Spirig (+2:42). After taking that penalty incurred in the swim, Lopes started the run in seventh (+3:32).   Run – Gentle takes control Gentle looked brilliant from the start of the run and immediately started gaining on the 2020 PTO Champion Findlay, reducing a 2:04 deficit to 1:35 within the first 2.5km. Philipp had moved into third and was also gaining on Paula – but most significantly she was losing time to Gentle, the 2018 ITU Grand Final winner.   At the end of lap one of four, Findlay's lead was down to just one minute over a flowing Gentle, but Philipp's charge from 28th exiting the water was perhaps coming to a stall. Still in third, she remained 2:30 back and was matching, but not catching, the pace of Paula. Unless anything changed, this was all pointing towards an Australian winner.   The inevitable pass came around the 7.5km mark, and by the midpoint of the run (9km), she was already 23 seconds up, with Philipp now three minutes back in third. Making rapid progress and now up to fourth was Chelsea Sodaro, who had finished a distant second to Philipp at IRONMAN Hamburg. The tables looked set to be turned here, unless the German could raise her pace over the closing kilometres.   Ashleigh Gentle PTO Canadian Open 2022 finish Photo by Darren Wheeler (www.thatcameraman.com) While she didn't get the win, a very happy Findlay held strong for second place and a $70k pay cheque.   The battle to complete the podium went to the final few hundred metres, when Sodaro hit the afterburners and left Philipp unable to respond.   PTO Canadian Open 2022 Results – Pro Women Saturday July 23, 2022 – 2km / 80km / 18km – Edmonton   Ashleigh Gentle (AUS) – 3:30:54 Paula Findlay (CAN) – 3:33:16 Chelsea Sodaro (USA) – 3:34:56 Laura Philipp (GER) – 3:35:10 Julie Derron (SUI) – 3:36:18 Holly Lawrence (GBR) – 3:37:43 Vittoria Lopes (BRA) – 3:38:14 Ellie Salthouse (AUS) – 3:38:34 Sophie Watts (USA) – 3:39:28 Nicola Spirig (SUI) – 3:39:50 India Lee (GBR) – 3:45:04 Nikki Bartlett (GBR) – 3:46:15 Laura Siddall (GBR) – 3:49:06 DNF. Fenella Langridge (GBR) DNF. Emma Pallant-Browne (GBR)     PTO Canadian Open 2022 results: Gustav Iden tops Blummenfelt There was plenty of action on the run at the first ever PTO Canadian Open on Sunday, but when the dust settled, it was Team Norway topping the podium once again.   Gustav Iden took the spoils of victory (including a $100k cheque for first prize) as he came home in front of compatriot Kristian Blummenfelt.   That though tells just a tiny part of the story on what was an incident-packed day in North America.   Swim – Schoeman sets the pace When we previewed the Pro Men's race in Edmonton, one of the factors we mentioned was the quality of swimmers in the field and the likelihood that the pace would be on from the start.   That, not surprisingly, proved to be the case and we saw an elite group of six break clear, headed out of the water by Henri Schoeman (RSA). Separated by just 17 seconds, Schoeman was joined by Aaron Royle (AUS), Alistair Brownlee (GBR), Sam Laidlow (FRA), Ben Kanute (USA) and Kyle Smith (NZL). Plenty of biking legs there too.   The chasers were led by Olympic, World Triathlon and IRONMAN World Champion, Blummenfelt (NOR), who was 1:16 back on the pace-setting Commonwealth Games gold medallist. The Blummenfelt ‘group' was significant, and included the likes of Miki Taagholt (DEN), Frederic Funk (GER) and Iden (NOR).   All told there were 23 athletes within two minutes of the leader after the opening three-lap, 2km swim in Hawrelak Park, but as expected, Lionel Sanders (CAN) was not one of them. ‘No Limits' was 34th of 37 in the water, 3:48 down. The slowest T1 of the entire race, by some margin, was hardly helping his cause, and he would start the bike in 35th.   Bike – Brownlee and Laidlow break clear 20km down – the end of lap one of four – and Laidlow and Brownlee had gained a small advantage, 21 seconds up on Smith and Royle. They in turn were now 10 seconds clear of Kanute and Schoeman.   The Blummenfelt/Iden/Taagholt/Funk and co. chase group started lap two 1:44 back. Sanders had Sebastian Kienle (GER) for company, but will still four minutes behind Brownlee and Laidlow at the front, but now up to 26th.   Brownlee and Laidlow continued to work well at the front, swapping the lead and both clearly fully focussed on optimising the bike section. 40km in and they were now 47 seconds up on Smith who was now riding solo.   Royle, Schoeman and Kanute had now been swept up by the Norwegian express, who has slightly reduced their deficit to 1:32. The pressure was on though, and that group was now down to just seven.   Sanders was losing nothing – but while now up to 20th and still more than four minutes back, he was gaining nothing in time terms either.   The second half of the ride didn't see too much change in terms of the shape of the race. A few seconds here and there, but when the T2 dismount line arrived, it was still Brownlee and Laidlow leading the way. Alistair's dismount however was pretty poor – clearly crossing the line.   The chase group was 1:07 back comprising of Iden, Funk, Blummenfelt, Smith, Royle, Taagholt, Pieter Heemeryck (BEL) covering 3rd-9th in close order. Sanders completed the top-10 (alongside Andrew Starykowicz) at this point and has gained back some time. He was 3:19 back as he headed towards his bike rack.   Run – Gustav holds on as Kristian battles back A late entry to the event, Brownlee had said pre-race that the run was where he was likely to struggle, courtesy of a lack of enough running miles, and he certainly didn't look too good over the opening mile as Laidlow took the lead.   Ominously, Iden and Blummenfelt were now practically stride-for-stride and less than a minute back. They also looked, well, like they usually do – brilliant.   Clearly in pain, Alistair was soon struggling big time, dropping back through the field and seemingly in danger of a DNF. In Brownlee terms, he was in hobble mode and it was painful to watch, from an athlete who has been one of the greatest we've ever seen.   Laidlow started the second lap of four with a 16 second lead, but his chances of maintaining that spot for another 4.5km were basically zero, with the way that Iden and Blummenfelt were flying… and then suddenly Blummenfelt came to an abrupt halt with an apparent hip flexor / quad injury / cramp.   Brownlee broken, Blummenfelt hobbling and just as Iden moved into the lead, Laidlow pretty much came to a stop too with cramps. Carnage all over the course – and all within about 10 minutes. Unexpected excitement and lots of things to be considered for each athlete, considering future season plans and avoiding long-term damage.   With his biggest potential challengers falling away, Iden was now in prime position. At the midway point of the run, his lead was a minute and a half over Blummenfelt, who had seemingly had his own Terminator moment, regenerated, and was looking (very) good again. Remarkable – but given his last 18 months, why expect anything different?   Aaron Royle was continuing to have a great day, holding third place (+1:48), followed by Laidlow, Heemeryck, Funk and Taagholt.   Sanders (+3:44), Smith (+3:45) and Collin Chartier (+4:55) rounded out the top ten with 9km of running remaining.   With one 4.5km lap remaining, Gustav continued to lead – but Big Blu was not giving up, bouncing back, gaining time and just 56 seconds in arrears. Surely even he couldn't take this victory?   At the final turnaround – 2.25km to go – Blummenfelt had cut that 56 seconds to 43 seconds. Exciting racing certainly, but the odds were definitely in favour of the reigning and two-time IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion.   So it proved, and despite the best efforts of his training partner, the legend of the lucky hat remained intact as Gustav Iden took victory at the PTO Canadian Open by just 27 seconds.   Royle capped a fantastic all round performance to complete the podium, ahead of an impressive Laidlow who, like Blummenfelt, bounced back from his mid-race issues for a superb fourth position.   Not the day he wanted, but if you'd told me at 3km that Brownlee would even finish the race, I'd have said you are mad. Kudos to the twice Olympic champion for showing his grit to complete the race.   Gustav Iden Kristian Blummenfelt Aaron Royle photo credit Jamie Dellimore PTO Canadian Open [Photo credit: PTO Canadian Open] PTO Canadian Open 2022 Results – Pro Men Sunday 24 July 2022 – 2km / 80km / 18km – Edmonton   Gustav Iden (NOR) – 3:10:48 Kristian Blummenfelt (NOR) – 3:11:15 Aaron Royle (AUS) – 3:14:26 Sam Laidlow (FRA) – 3:14:47 Frederic Funk (GER) – 3:14:56 Pieter Heemeryck (BEL) – 3:15:23 Lionel Sanders (CAN) – 3:15:49 Max Neumann (AUS) – 3:16:39 Kyle Smith (NZL) – 3:17:02 Miki Taagholt (DEN) – 3:17:14 David McNamee (GBR) – 3:19:07 Alistair Brownlee (GBR) – 3:23:15   What's New in the 303:   Boulder 70.3 Preview and Athlete Information - Athlete Guide General: 20th Anniversary of this epic race! Agegroup Multisport Podcast

On Episode 51 we have GB Agegroup Triathlete and former GB Pentathlon athlete Matt BarnesHeres Matts Story:I started out as a swimmer from being about 8 years of age. I was ok, club/county standard. However, my swimming club had a biathlon club attached to it (run/swim competitions) and I was a better runner than swimmer. From 11 I gradually picked up the other events of the Modern Pentathlon  - shooting, swimming and horse-riding, until I was doing full Pentathlons at 16. I started taking the sport more seriously at University and won my first international appearance in 1997. From then I competed at 2 European Championships and 3 World Championships as a Pentathlete. My last year in the sport was 2002, when I was National Champion and finished 24th at worlds. In 2002 I started my job as a lawyer, working in the sports industry, so retired from Pentathlon and decided to focus on just running. I became a 1500m runner and my best year was 2007 when I made the National final, ran 3.42 and a sub 4 mile. I moved up to 5000m a year or so after that and ran a 13.58 5,000m and got a Great Britain vest on the road. From my md thirties I suffered with a few injuries and was back in the pool trying to keep fit and also doing a bit of cycling, but nothing structured. Alongside my running, I entered a few triathlons from about 2016 and in 2017 I went to the world standard distance champs in Rotterdam and got a bronze in the 40-44 age group. In 2018 I also won a silver at the european sprint. I was still also competing as a runner and in 2019 I won the european 1500m title as a v40 in Italy.Obviously the last couple of years have been hugely disrupted with COVID. I have also had some medical advice that I have to run a lot less as I had a hip operation in 2015 and my cartliage has degenerated more since then. However, I have started working with a coach to improve my bike, which is my weakest event and have seen some big gains this winter. My run is also still holding up so I am hopeful of medals in Munich and Montreal at this year's sprint distance europeans and worlds respectively.Link to Presca Sportswear https://www.prescasportswear.comYou can listen to this AMP episode and all the others on most podcast platforms and now we a have our own YouTube channel : AMP GBFind us on Instagram amp_1967Twitter  agegroupmultisportpodcastFacebook AMPGBYouTube AMP GBWebsite is : agegroupmultisportpodcast.buzzsprout.comemail: agegroupmultisportpodcast

Welcome to the Pod Agegroup Athlete David BaggeDavids story of how he went from last in school sports day and not doing any sport until the age of 41 to GB Duathlon (run, bike, run) Champion and World Silver in the  55-59 Age Group. David had quite a few knock backs along the way but through 15 years of hard work and perseverance he achieved more than he  ever thought possible.  He  hope this inspires school kids who don't feel encouraged at school sport or those later in life who might think it's too late to start – it's not!. It's also a testimonial to triathlon and duathlon – sports that are wonderfully inclusive, with an ethos that finishing is winning and which give you a chance to compete internationally at any age. Anyone remember that humiliating ritual at school where you lined up to be picked for a team? David says he  was the skinny, scrawny, non athletic kid who was picked last. No wonder he hated the weekly sports sessions.  His  school sport focused on the sporty kids  and he was never given the chance to try something he might be good at and thus never got motivated. his build was suited to running but he doesn't remember much running other than short track which needs power. The one time we did cross country he surprised himself by doing quite well and was encouraged by it only to be knocked down againAfter a surprising result at cross country and think maybe running is for him.  So he stuck his hand up to be in the house team at school sports day and get put in the 400m. Well little did he know then that 400m is a very different race from endurance cross country – it's all running right?. He  came last and was told by classmates in no uncertain terms that he had let them down,  they knew they should have never have picked me.  The faint flickering flame of love for sport was extinguished that day and he never ran again until he was 41 years old. David went through life not doing any sport  due to a deep ingrained belief that he was not made for it.Then at the age of 40 his wife  decided to do a triathlon. David  took the kids to watch and saw that there were all sorts of people competing. That and the fact she had gone from doing nothing to getting a good result was inspiring. The finishing is winning ethos of triathlon was  particularly appealing and it didn't matter if you came last. David  signed up for the September 2007  Sevenoaks triathlon and started training. As he still had a sporting inferiority complex He states he did train quite a bit and as a result surprised himself and came in well under his 2 hour targetDavid now had the bug,  so  started to sign up for some races and steadily improved. After a good set of results and some podiums, in 2013 I entered the GB Duathlon Championship. This was also a qualifier for the Duathlon World championship David came 7th in  age group but that was good enough to qualify as some of those above me were not GB eligible. He was over the moon and felt that the chance to compete at the Worlds in a GB trisuit with his name on it was prize enough. He went to Canada that year just looking to enjoy the Worlds He has since gone from strength to strength and has frequently represented GB.please enjoy Davids story. You can listen to this AMP episode and all the others on most podcast platforms and now we a have our own YouTube channel : AMP GBFind us on Instagram amp_1967Twitter  agegroupmultisportpodcastFacebook AMPGBYouTube AMP GBWebsite is : agegroupmultisportpodcast.buzzsprout.comemail: agegroupmultisportpodcast

Coming Up On Episode 46, Chris Lewis. This is Chris's story:I'm a massive rugby league fan. I support Leeds Rhinos and was a season ticket holder for years. I started playing age 7 at for my local team Normanton Knights in West Yorkshire. I represented the Wakefield District at junior level. At 16 I progressed in to the professional academies, played in the 1st team for Wakefield Wildcats in 2006 and then shortly after I signed for Doncaster. In 2008 in got injured rupturing my ACL in my left knee. I had a knee reconstruction, did the rehab. 18 months after the injury I had my first game back and ruptured the same knee. I had the 2nd reconstruction but the rehab took about 2 years. I managed to get back playing for my local team Normanton Knights but then a few games in a ruptured my o we for a 3rd time.I decided I didn't want to go through another operation and rehab so I stopped playing rugby in January 2013. Having only played about 6 games in a 5 year period I could accept quitting the game. From 2013 I stoped all cardio and just did weight training 3 times a week in the gym. I got in great shape and it filled the gap from not playing rugby. In 2017 my mate Jason asked if I wanted to do a triathlon he had entered. My response was, “absolutely not, why the hell would I want to do that?”Again, he asked me in 2018.My response this time was, “ ok I'm not really doing anything else I'll give it a go”Now Im addicted to tri.You can listen to this AMP episode and all the others on most podcast platforms and now we a have our own YouTube channel : AMP GBFind us on Instagram amp_1967Twitter  agegroupmultisportpodcastFacebook AMPGBYouTube AMP GBWebsite is : agegroupmultisportpodcast.buzzsprout.comemail: agegroupmultisportpodcast

McElroy’s fifth-place finish was his best international result since a string of three consecutive World Triathlon Cup wins in the fall of 2019. With a time of 55 minutes, 11 seconds on the sprint-distance course, McElroy was 12 seconds off a podium that was led by Great Britain’s Jonathan Brownlee, a two-time Olympic medalist and 2012 World Triathlon champion, in 54:48. Adrien Briffod of Switzerland claimed silver in 54:52 for his first World Triathlon Cup medal since a June 2017 win, while three-time World Triathlon champion Mario Mola of Spain was third in 54:59. On a warm, dry day in Italy, it was Seth Rider (Germantown, Tenn.) who appeared to be the U.S. favorite through the start of the race. Hungary’s Márk Dévay led after the 750-meter swim, followed by a group of 10 that included Rider. In third after the first transition, the 2014 U.S. Youth Olympian took the lead at one point during the first lap of the bike among a trio that included Dévay and Brownlee. Rider, McElroy and 2010 Youth Olympian Kevin McDowell (Geneva, Ill.) all remained in the large lead group of up to 24 athletes throughout the three-lap, 19.3-kilometer ride with McDowell and McElroy sixth and seventh at the end of the bike, which was led by Frenchmen Paul Georgenthum and Arthur Berland. Rider was once again the leading American after the second transition, in fourth, until McElroy made his move during the 5-kilometer run. McElroy vaulted from 11th to fifth in the first lap of the run, and fought to maintain that pace through the finish while Brownlee and Briffod broke away on the second and final lap to lead the race.  McDowell placed 21st in 56:05 and Rider 24th in 56:36. With a time of 57:43, 2016 Olympian Ben Kanute (Geneva, Ill.) was 35th, while Darr Smith (Atlanta, Ga.), who had raced the Olympic-distance World Triathlon Cup Lisbon one week prior, was 47th in 1:00:23. McElroy’s finish improved his rank in the World Triathlon Olympic Qualification Rankings by one spot. The U.S. will send three men to Tokyo if it maintains three men in the top-30 of the Olympic Qualification Rankings by June 14. On Episode 25 we have the 3rd and final part of our Strength and conditioning chat with Dave Cripps from TriTenacious. Then we have Agegrouper Andy BiggsAndy was Born and went to school in Sussex.  Liked sport but as a late developer and the smallest kid in school year, never excelled.  Going ‘up north' to University in Durham coincided with growth in height and strength, so enjoyed sport more. Got into rowing, and ran as training.  Andy was doing some sport 6 days a week.  Ran his  first half marathon (great North Run 1987 – 1:41)Andy Graduated, stayed in Durham, got married and stopped being consistently athletic.  Ran a Great North Run every three years or so, getting slower each time. After  Ten years of marriage and professional career passed, with two kids along the way  he decided to get consistently fit.  Started running Great North Run every year. Finally beat his time from 1987In 2003 Ran first of 11 marathons (one a year). In 2004 Andy Joined Athletics club (Durham City Harriers) – realised it was very social and welcoming and wished he joined years earlier. In 2009 Peak of speed/fitness.  10K 37:53 5K 18:13  Aged 42. He did his first Sprint Triathlon. Pool swim and used his  offroad, flat handled hybrid bike.  He loved it, but still reckoned Triathlon would be too expensive. Didn't want to buy a wetsuit and flashy bike out of the family budget. In 2010-2013 he focused on Marathon training.  After a (slow) PB at 2013 London Marathon, Andy got fed up with trying to chase three hours and thought about doing something else.So 2010, 2012, 2013 he Bought a road bike and did the Vatternrundan 300km cycle sportive in Sweden with a team from work (they had a factory in Sweden).2014 (aged 47) set new PB for half marathon (1:24:26) – 16 minutes quicker than he ran as a 20-year-old in 1987!In 2014 Andy decided to have a more serious go at Triathlon.  So he bought a wetsuit and had a summer of swim, cycle and running events for charity, culminating in a Standard Triathlon.  Got hooked….!It was 2014 when For a bit of a laugh, Andy thought he would have a go at GB Age group qualification….2015 ETU Sprint Duathlon in Alcobendas, Spain.  Weather that the team manager described as “the worst she's ever seen for a championship event”.  But he Love it nevertheless.  In 2016 Qualification trail – Got Hypothermia at the Oulton Park Spring Duathlon.. yet qualified for Penticton ITU 2017.In 2017 – 2019  Andy completed a further 11 appearances in an Age Group Tri suit.  Went to every World and European Duathlon championship.  Finished nearer the back of the field than the front…..but justified my selection by beating at least one Brit each time.In 2019 Andy Finally swam in GB Kit –he  did Aquabike in Pontevedra and Targu Mures, plus Aquathlon in Targu Mures (one of four ETU events in a week!)In August 2019, Andy had an almost life changing crash off his bike in training, breaking three vertebrae.  He could easily have been dead (if no helmet) or paralysed.  Ended up with a Halo vest just like Tim Don has after his Kona Accident. Stephen and Raya are back and are becoming eco worriers. That's right - they're worrying (well Stephen is) that cycling isn't maybe quite so touchy-feely to the environment as he thought it was. Maybe the only way he's going to hug a tree is by wrapping himself around it off a tight bend. Not to worry - Raya ups the ante with news of her Aquabike adventures, and the Pod goes all multisport as new boundaries - and events - are invented. With minimal thought. And what happens when you let Strava plan your whole day? We find out. But our main topic is as green as the look on Stephen's face when he's descending Leith Hill; because we not only find out which bikes are nicer to the planet, but we speak to PRESCA - the new manufacturer who's taking the one area of cycle kit nobody thought to make sustainable. And it's all British, donchaknow (Stephen wipes patriotic tear from his eye). Plus velominati, laughing, rudeness, yada yada, etc. The Cyclist Pod (c) Stephen Grant and Raya Hubbell www.cyclistpod.com Music 'Zazie' c/o Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3

John Young is a high school math teacher, a husband, a teacher a runner and a triathlete. He has completed 35 triathlons including 7 half-ironman and is training for a full Ironman at Ironman Maryland. He has run 6 marathons including 4 Boston Marathons. Most of our interview is about his recent Boston Marathon finish. If you follow endurance sports online you may recognize John Young. John runs as part of Team Achilles because he has dwarfism. He and his son have coined the hashtag #bethehammer. During the interview we talk about where that came from and what it means. If you are curious about Team Achilles and the amazing work that they do visit www.achillesinternational.com We talk about how not sleeping well was the first step to getting John involved in endurance sports. We talk about being inspired by Team Hoyt. If you aren’t familiar with Team Hoyt take a minute and explore their story at www.teamhoyt.com In 2009 John did his first Aquabike in Lowell Massachusetts. 4- weeks later he did the Witch City Tri. He said after that he was, “absolutely hooked.”  John works with a coach from Work Live Train for his running coaching. He credits his coaching with helping him make a huge marathon PR. You can find Work Live Train at www.theeverydaytriathlete.com We chat about how the start of the Boston Marathon is different and what it feels like to be run with the elite runners even if it’s just for a few seconds.  All runners have their own long course nutrition plan and we talk about what his nutrition plan was this year and the Swedish Fish. Listen to find out what in the world I’m talking about. John is lucky that he lives near Boston and he’s had the chance to run and train on this course. We chat about some special places of the Boston Marathon course. Shout outs to John’s friends from Summerville Run Club, Lowellville Run Club and Breakthrough Performance. We also talk about finding good friends on the course and how running and finishing with good friends Wes and Sarah made a very special race day memory. John is on a journey to become the first Little Person to complete an Ironman. He’s riding a custom bike from Seven Cycles for his journey. He put the hashtag #bethehammer on his bike. Give some love to Seven Bikes at www.sevencycles.com and John’s local bike shop Salem Cycles. We talk about the challenge of having a smaller bike in an Ironman transition which is a frustration that John and I share. I ask John the same question I ask every other Ironman in training, “what’s the biggest challenge in training. “ John leaves me with what might be my new favorite motivational quote, “Your will has to be stronger than your won’t.” – John Young You can follow John Young on Twitter and Instagram at @dwarfparatri and he’s also on Facebook as athlete John Young.

There what Tim said about her: On this topic, I did want to recruit my buddy Chelsea Sanders for the real age grouper of the week. She has been working her ass off training for this ironman and ended up being the first women! This was her first ironman distance race and she got first place! Unbelievable! I mean this was no Hawaii or Ironman sanction event but, hard work is hard work. And she did awesome. (and she's an ironman listener) High 5How to look after your eyes 1.    UV Protection – in NZ all sunglasses must have higher than 98% UV protection but overseas ?? – some optoms have a machine to measure UV & infa red2.    Lubricating drops – your eyes can become dry in some conditions (very dehydrated, dry conditions etc), use preservative free eye drops (more expensive but worth it).3.    Always have an eye exam every 2 years especially if you are over 45 (why? Because over the age of 45 higher risk of glaucoma (silently robs your sight)4.    Contact lenses – be careful when swimming because it’s easier for bacteria to grow in the matrix of the contact lens material more so than the human eye (clean lenses as told by optom)5.    If you have sight issues you can get prescription swimming goggles (and good glasses for that matter eg Oakley with Transition lenses)  Website of the weekSlowtwitch.com has made some changes to the look of there forum page.
