Bölüm Kapağı: Hans W. The minuet is a dance that started in the 1700's in the French court. Gradually, the minuet began to be used for non-dancing purposes, as a musical form -- especially as the third movement of symphonies. Minuets found their way onto the stage, too, in operas, plays, and ballets.

Donald Macleod follows Beethoven as he sets himself up in his new home of Vienna. All through 2020, Donald Macleod takes an unprecedented deep dive into the compelling story and extraordinary music of Ludwig van Beethoven. In this uniquely ambitious series, told across 125 episodes of Composer of the Week, Donald puts us inside Beethoven’s world and explores his hopes, struggles and perseverance in all the colourful detail this amazing narrative deserves. Alongside this in-depth biography, Donald will also be meeting and talking to Beethoven enthusiasts and experts from across the world to discover how his music continues to speak to us in the 21st century. Through story and sound, the series builds into a vivid new portrait of this composer, born 250 years ago this year, who made art that changed how people saw themselves and understood the world. Let’s start episode 320 of Secrets of Organ Playing Podcast. This question was sent by Hanna, and she writes: Hi Vidas, This is what I studied and practiced last month, just recently adding the 2 Minuets and this new one. I don't speak German so can't pronounce it. 10-Day Pedal Exercise Ich Ruf zu Dir Praise to the Lord Doxology If you Could Hie to Kolob- piano/organ duet I am working on to play in sacrament meeting at Church. Our Prayer to Thee - Hymn out of the hymnal for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Minuet in G Major #132 God is in His Holy Temple Organ Technique- listen (I have listed to one 30-min presentation). I am only 5'1" and can't block the church organ up. So it is difficult to skim the pedals like I want to. But I'm trying for better range of motion in my ankles so my heel can reach as I stretch the achilles tendon more. It is a thrill to sense even minor improvement, so your teaching must be working. Thank you. -Hanna

Here are two reels from the pen of 18th century fiddler and composer Robert Mackintosh (c 1745-1807). Known as "Red Rob", he was born in Tulliemet, Perthshire and has long been recognised as one of our foremost composers of Scottish dance music. There are 4 collections of his music containing 350 tunes. You can play them all in the amazing Highland Music Trust book 'The Mackintosh Collections' http://www.heallan.com/mackintosh.html When I was learning these tunes I was amazed at the dexterity needed to play them especially Miss Jessy Dalrymple's Reel. I think I might be playing them at a more modern reel speed (!) but all the same they're difficult! Concerto Caledonia made a lovely album of Macintosh music in 2013 entitled Robert Mackintosh - Airs, Minuets, Gavotts and Reels which is well worth a listen. http://www.concal.org/albums/9-albums/7-robert-mackintosh-airs-minuets-gavotts-reels
