This week, EJ looks at some of the September and October releases that are on his radar, for good or for ill. (Spinal Tap 2 seems, if we're being honest, ill-advised.) Plus, some talk of Long Story Short and Nobody 2.
Shane drops by for a late-summer update with thoughts on recent and ongoing efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine War, actions taken by the Trump administration to reduce crime in Washington DC, and to preview the legislative agenda and tasks ahead for Congress upon their return to Capitol Hill in September. No fluff—just the roadmap. Marvel EIC C.B. Cebulski hosts a sharp Fall preview anchored by headline books. Jonathan Hickman lays out the architecture and character heartbeat of Ultimate Spider-Man—how this relaunch reframes Peter, the scale of the new Ultimate line, and what's next. Joe Kelly digs into Spider-Man—voice, velocity, and how to keep the wall-crawler surprising without losing the core. Charles Soule covers three fronts: the moral grind of Daredevil, the horror-thriller pulse of Carnage, and galaxy-shaping storytelling in Star Wars—why each book matters now and six months from now.Expect first-look pages, honest craft talk, and a candid Q&A. If you want where Marvel is headed this Fall and beyond, this is the map
Tyler Coates joins Katey and Christopher Rosen to look at the slates for three indie labels owned by studios that all hope to stake their claim in this year's awards race. Searchlight Pictures, the only one of the three to ever win best picture, is hoping to win hearts with Rental Family, while Focus Features is going heavy on auteurs with Yorgos Lanthimos's Bugonia and Chloe Zhao's Hamnet. Meanwhile Sony Pictures Classics has a tried-and-true formula for getting their films in front of voters, and have a heavy historical drama, Scarlett Johansson's directorial debut, and much more. The episode also includes Katey's conversation with Stephen Graham about his labor of love turned worldwide phenomenon, Adolescence. He calls the experience of making the show like working with a theater troupe, and talks about how he built the confidence to build the series around a series of astonishing single-takes, and why he thinks the show has hit such a nerve since it debuted on Netflix earlier this year. David Canfield joins Katey and Chris to kick off our five-part fall preview, in which we take a close look at the lineups for every studio that has won best picture in the past 10 years. We're starting, naturally, with reigning best picture champion Neon, who shepherded Anora from Cannes breakout to best picture juggernaut, and are aiming to do it again this year. Can they continue their winning formula? Are they facing challenges from their fellow indie distributors? And can they finally get Elle Fanning the awards season respect she deserves? We get into it all, and much more. Don't forget that this week brings the launch of Prestige Junkie After Party, where you can get video versions of future episodes and lots of special bonus content. Back in the day, when large console TVs dominated American living rooms, the harsh reality of back to school was blunted by the fact that September also heralded the premiere of the new Fall TV shows. That era is long behind us. ABC, CBS and NBC no longer hold sway over our viewing habits, as cable and streaming options offer seeming infinite choices of content year round. So, are there still upcoming things this fall worth watching? The Regular Joes dig in, with some optimism, a fair bit of skepticism, and a dose of, “we'll wait and see.” There's also the usual random topics, and a virtual cornucopia of other segments some not revisited for several years. Thanks for listening!

It's a new season - welcome to Fall. How was your summer? Join me in this episode where I have designed it to share what's happening in the fall and I give you some powerful new coaching content and how to apply it to your life right now! Hoping you find this as profound as I have. I am giving you a feel for my new body of work that has changed my life in the last two months and that of my clients. I give you four immediate steps to take to begin the process. I love this stuff! It works. The premise is: when considering the next version of you (new identity), if that's even on your radar, to know that the focus, change, and permanency of your new identity requires self-love and embodiment. The result is manifesting your imagined vision from news skills I never had been taught until now and it works beautifully as you will hear what happened in my own life. I give you the formula to begin the change. I also update you on the Italy culinary adventure which is coming up mid-Sept (finally here!) and new options to receive coaching Sept-Dec.
