Incredible chat with Noel Hogan, record producer, lead guitarist and co-songwriter of the Cranberries. We talk about the semi “Jestons” level future we're living in, the trappings of social media and sell phone culture, remembering the people who were good to you, the the ebb and flow in 90s music nostalgia over the years, his brief brake dancing career, how the band met and stuck together through thick and thin, comedy, art, touring and working on new music! Enjoy!

Paul Brennan and Noel Hogan spoke to Carol about how a community play was conceived and produced as a result. A Hook in the Heart was performed and filmed in Scarriff, Co. Clare in January 1994, with a cast of 70. Playwright Paul Brennan wrote the play so the community could learn about this aspect of their local history. The Cranberries guitarist Noel Hogan reveals the uniqueness of his latest song collaboration: I have written long distance before but eventually you do end up in the studio. Bronagh and I have never actually met in person! It has been a massive challenge but just goes to show what can be done. A mutual friend suggested that Noel and Bronagh hook up virtually and chat tunes! That fateful suggestion gave birth to a brand new joyous track, called 'Cry Baby' This will be Noel’s first release since The Cranberries released Grammy-nominated In the End in April 2019 – the band’s eighth and final studio album, which they had been working on prior to Dolores’ premature passing in January 2018. The two national music treasures spoke to Fergal D'Arcy as part of his brand new 'All Irish' show now airing every Sunday from 8-9am just before Weekend Breakfast. In a specially extended warm and engaging chat Noel and Bronagh reveal the challenges of making a song virtually, getting gigs going again, trying to adapt in a pandemic, Bronagh on 'Brassic', Noel's future projects and loads more 'Crybaby' is available for download and streaming now. Together with American Songwriter we had the pleasure of interviewing Noel Hogan and Fergal Lawler of The Cranberries over Zoom video! Island Records/UMe are proud to announce the release of remastered and expanded versions of No Need to Argue by The Cranberries on November 13, 2020. Originally released in 1994, No Need To Argue was the band's biggest selling album with global sales in excess of 17 million and contained the band's most commercially successful single "Zombie." The video for "Zombie" has since been viewed over 1 billion times on YouTube, making The Cranberries the only Irish band to pass this milestone and putting them in a very small club of artists to do so. Dolores O'Riordan - the band's powerful and captivating lead singer - tragically passed away in January 2018.The expanded 2CD and digital versions of No Need To Argue include a remaster of the album and three B-sides: "Away," "I Don't Need," and "So Cold In Ireland" from the original tapes. Also included are 19 previously unreleased tracks including two songs not officially released in any format: "Yesterday's Gone" - recorded unplugged for MTV in New York in 1995 - and a demo of "Serious," which until now has only existed as a low quality live bootleg on YouTube. The 2CD edition features previously unseen photographs taken from the album photo sessions. We want to hear from you! The two take us through the first album's success, working out these songs on tour, learning to make heavier sounds, and the lasting impact of "Zombie". They also revisit the music video for "Ridiculous Thoughts", covering The Carpenters, featuring on soundtracks for Clueless and Empire Records, winning at the MTV Music Awards, and the time one of their shows started a riot in Washington DC. Later on, they explain what happened to the famous sofa that graced the album’s cover, revisit the Doors and Windows CD-rom, and digress a little on their forthcoming career-spanning documentary. The series will continue every fortnight until mid November with readings from Muse Productions, the Corofin Dramatic Society and Sliabh Aughty Drama Group. On Wednesdays' Morning Focus, Gavin Grace spoke to Bernie Harten from the Ennis Players, Noel Hogan from Sliabh Aughty Drama Group and the director of Glór, Orla Flanagan.
This Must Be the Gig is joined by Fergal Lawler and Noel Hogan of The Cranberries. The group formed in 1989 in Limerick, Ireland, along with Noel's brother Mike on bass and later joined by vocalist Dolores O'Riordan. Over the course of eight albums and 20 years, the group wrote some of the biggest, most memorable sing-along anthems of the '90s, from "Linger" to "Dreams" to "Zombie" to "Salvation", becoming a worldwide phenomenon. Tragically, the group's most recent record, 2019's In the End, turned out to be their last, as Dolores sadly passed away prior to its completion. But now, Fergal and the Hogan brothers are honoring their late friend and continuing the strength of their legacy with a 25th anniversary reissue of The Cranberries' second album, No Need to Argue. In addition to the original album, the package will include B-sides, demos, live recordings, a slew of unreleased photos, an essay from the band's archivist, and more.. Lior spoke with Fergal and Noel about looking back at No Need to Argue at 25 years, the beloved song "Yesterday's Gone" making the cut after only previously appearing on MTV Unplugged, seeing Irish heroes U2 as teens, the power of a good cover, and so much more. Head here for more info on The Cranberries. Head here to pre-order the reissue of No Need to Argue. Gracias, Dolores, gracias, Cranberries.

It's been less than a year since the music world lost one of it's most unique voices. The singularly talented Dolores O'Riordan passed away back in January of 2018 and since then in Ireland and across the world people have reflected on her amazing contribution. Noel Hogan from the band spoke to Fergal D'Arcy about their recent Grammy Nomination, a documentary that is in the works and more poignant memories of Dolores and the band. And according to Noel, if Dolores was alive to get The Grammys news: "She would have loved the nomination, she really would" We are humbly honoured with the news that our final album “In the End” has been nominated for a 2020 Grammy in the category of Best Rock Album. It’s a fitting tribute to Dolores and her truly amazing talents. When Noel Hogan met Dolores Oriordan in the late 1980s, neither of them could have imagined that together they would write the music that would go on to sell over 40 million records. He tells us what it was like compiling the demos that would eventually become the last Cranberries album. This episode is a brilliant insight into the background of one Irelands most successful bands, and of a music industry that is changing by the day.

The Cranberries formed in Limerick, Ireland in 1989. Singer Dolores O’Riordan joined a year later, and the group went on to become one of the defining bands on the ‘90s, eventually selling over 40 million records worldwide. In January 2018, while the band was working on their eighth album, Dolores O’Riordan passed away unexpectedly. Later that year, remaining members Noel Hogan, Mike Hogan, and Fergal Lawler announced that they would end the band, and that this would be their final album. It's called In The End. It was released in April 2019, and in this episode, guitarist and songwriter Noel Hogan breaks down a song from it called “All Over Now.” You’ll hear how Hogan and O’Riordan first started the song, and how the remaining members worked to finish it without her. songexploder.net/the-cranberries

We announce the Art Fund Museum of the Year 2019 shortlist. Chair of the Judges and Director of the Art Fund Stephen Deuchar explains why these museums are in contention for the £100,000 prize. A recent report commissioned by President Macron has recommended that France should return all of its African artefacts unless they can prove that they legitimately acquired them, marking a significant shift away from the status quo in how museums deal with contested objects. As the debate about cultural repatriation and restitution intensifies we consider what impact it'll have on the way museums operate in practice. Subhadra Das, Curator at the UCL Collections, and Neil Curtis, Head of Museums and Special Collections at Aberdeen University, reflect on this complex issue. The Cranberries were in the process of recording their eighth album in 2018 when lead singer, Dolores O’Riordan, tragically died. The remaining band members decided to finish the album and on tonight’s Front Row, Noel Hogan, guitarist and co-songwriter with the group, reveals why they made the decision to continue with the album and what that process has been like. Presenter: Stig Abell Producer: Hannah Robins
