The Big Bark dog podcast is Irelands Number 1 dog related podcast. Each episode, Darragh and his trusty sidekick pups Bruno, Milly & Roxy bringing all the canine stories to you, with the biggest interviews with pet professionals.Once again, this week, we welcome back Dr. Ashleigh Bugler from Treaty Veterinary Clinic to our health hub - Dr. Bugler this week gives an overview of skin allergies, how to handle these and how to know if your dog is suffering from issues with their anal glands and how you can provide them with some relief. This week, we take a look at the case of a Cork woman who walked away with a minimal 250 euro fine after pleading guilty to 12 counts of animal cruelty. With dogs found stuffed in crates, living in their own shit and with one dog even being presented to a local vet with a broken pelvis after being forced to try mate with a larger breed dog, the ignorance of the judge in this case can only be described as astounding, proof that the justice system is a failure when it comes to the protection and welfare of animals. We also tell you how you can nominate your favourite pet business for the local pet awards.Links:https://www.facebook.com/thebigbarkpodcasthttps://www.instagram.com/thebigbarkpodcasthttps://www.twitter.com/bigbarkpodcasthttps://www.patreon.com/thebigbarkpodcasthttps://thebigbark.ieGuest Linkshttps://www.treatyveterinaryclinic.com/https://muttmittsireland.iehttps://thelocalpetawards.com Become a member of The Big Bark Podcast + By becoming a member and subscriber, you can gain access to behind the scenes videos and interviews, bloopers and see what our wonderful puppies get up to. https://plus.acast.com/s/the-big-bark-dog-podcast. There appears to be a general widespread fear of all dogs by a specific cohort of society, which is coming from mainstream media fuelling the fear along with local councillors such as DLR council and most recently Cllr Gavan of Limerick Council calling on Mayor John Moran to introduce bye laws to deal with what she says are over 70 restricted breeds. The spread of misinformation from councillors is causing an unease among both the public and dog owners. We discuss why councillors need to display effective control of the information that they share and why our local authorities and the dog hating cohort of society need to be re-educated on matters surrounding dog control.xLinks:https://www.facebook.com/thebigbarkpodcasthttps://www.instagram.com/thebigbarkpodcasthttps://www.twitter.com/bigbarkpodcasthttps://www.patreon.com/thebigbarkpodcasthttps://thebigbark.ieGuest Linkshttps://www.treatyveterinaryclinic.com/https://muttmittsireland.i Become a member of The Big Bark Podcast + By becoming a member and subscriber, you can gain access to behind the scenes videos and interviews, bloopers and see what our wonderful puppies get up to. https://plus.acast.com/s/the-big-bark-dog-podcast. By 1984, John Williams' film music was familiar to audiences the world over and it was only natural that the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee would turn to the city's most famous composer of popular instrumental music when they decided to commission a fanfare to be used during the Games. While it was an honor to be asked to compose such a piece of music, the prospect was not without its challenges. Leo Arnaud's “Bugler's Dream” fanfare (from his Charge Suite) had become synonymous with the Olympics since ABC began using it for its televised coverage of the Games in 1968. Any new composition would necessarily compete with the attachment listeners had developed to Arnaud's music. At the same time, the opening fanfare was to be played by herald trumpets at all of the medal ceremonies and official Olympic events, so it had to be based on the harmonic overtones these instruments were able to produce. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/musicspeaks-podcast/support

We start with three noble Barry's: Barry the Bugler, Barry the Bodyguard and Barry the Burger (horse). Will the Barry's successfully escort their leader, who might also be called Barry, along the yellow brick road to find out who's behind the curtain? Will they succeed? Will they successfully stop the war? Or will they each get a faceful of snuff? Whatever happens, we can all agree, it's absolutely NOT like rain on your wedding day. ///patreon.com/wapin7 - Emerge from the shadows and support the podcast!wapin7.com/rate

SynopsisThe composer of this familiar theme was born on today's date in 1904 in Lyon, France. He was christened “Noel” Arnaud, but is better known as “Leo” Arnaud, the name he adopted after emigrating to the U.S.A. Arnaud studied music in his native France with two of its leading composers, Vincent d'Indy and Maurice Ravel. In the 1930s, Arnaud settled in Hollywood, where he churned out scores for everything from Blondie Goes Latin to The Ice Follies of 1939. The high point of Arnaud's cinematic career was an Oscar nomination for his work as an arranger for the 1964 musical The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Some years earlier, Hollywood Bowl conductor Felix Slatkin commissioned Arnaud to write some music for a 1958 LP sonic spectacular designed to show off the new “stereophonic” recording process. The album was titled Charge! and featured military style fanfares and suites, and included a cut entitled Bugler's Dream. In 1968, when ABC television was looking for a musical theme for its Olympic coverage, they chose Bugler's Holiday. By 1988, when the NBC network secured TV rights for the Olympics, Arnaud's theme had become the instantly recognizable signature theme for the games. As the scherzo movement of his new symphony, Beethoven recycled a tune he originally used as a musical salute to Johann Nepomuk Maelzel, the inventor of the metronome. For a time, Maelzel was Beethoven's friend and sometimes collaborator on concerts and various mechanical projects. Beethoven used Maelzel's metronomes to add precise, if sometimes debatable, tempo markings to some of his earlier works. Some conductors choose to ignore these metronome markings, since they came after the fact of composition and at a time when Beethoven was increasingly deaf. In fact, in addition to metronomes, the versatile Maelzel also supplied the Beethoven with ear trumpets—the 19th-century version of hearing aids. Perhaps Beethoven was using one of those ear trumpets when someone asked him why his Seventh Symphony was more popular in Vienna than his Eighth. "Because the Eighth is so much better," he growled in reply. Closer to our own time, the American composer Leroy Anderson, who lived from 1908 to 1975, immortalized the tick-tock of a mechanical timekeeper in his piece entitled The Syncopated Clock. Leroy Anderson was a master of the musical miniature, creating dozens of witty pieces with titled like Plink, Plank, Plunk, Bugler's Holiday, and Fiddle Faddle. Music Played in Today's Program Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 - 1827) Symphony No. 8 in F, Op. 93 Berlin Philharmonic; Herbert von Karajan, conductor. DG 429 036 Leroy Anderson (1908-1975) The Syncopated Clock St. Louis Symphony; Leonard Slatkin, conductor. BMG/RCA 68048

Back in the 70's, were you a ramblin' man, never going to the same place twice? When you passed through the Nutbush city limits, did you and your companion think we may never pass this way again? Did you just keep on truckin' along the highway, or sometimes grabbed a ride on the midnight train to Georgia? In some places you probably were not welcome, and if you tried to engage a local they would just say “leave me alone”. In other places, they would play mind games, and even though you told them I've got a name, they would instead call you other things, like the joker or half breed. In frustration sometimes you probably just greeted people with a generic “hello, it's me”. At the end of your journey, hopefully you felt like you were at the top of the world, and at that point, took a photograph of the scene. Elk Hunting Storytelling Session with Dirk Durham Show Notes: In hunting, when you mix years of practice and experience, you become an expert. Dirk Durham is a world champion elk caller, and he's here for a storytelling session about his elk hunting journey. He started with a bow when he was 15 and hasn't missed a season since. This fall will be Dirk's 33rd year of elk hunting. Outside the hunting season, Dirk is a marketing manager at Phelps, where he wears a ton of different hats from social media and content management to R&D on new products, even customer service. When Dirk started elk hunting in the 80s, there wasn't a whole lot of information on how to do it. There were a few VHS videos and books here and there, and Dirk's dad wasn't into bow hunting. But he wanted to elk hunt and once his dad saw that he was serious, he told him that if he got an elk with a bow, he would reimburse Dirk for what he spent on his bow and supplies. He put in a ton of time learning calls and how to shoot a bow and even went out hunting in the mornings before school. Dirk eventually came through and his dad made good on his promise. Dirk shares tips on how to get close to bulls. It takes a lot of practice, time, and patience and we all learn from experiences. He also shares a story about him and his brother hunting in a storm and the challenges of tracking a bull with the blood getting washed away. Taking advantage of the weather and shifting your strategy can be a benefit if you know what you're doing. The hunting community has come a long way in terms of information out there for new hunters, so it's always great to hear from people who became successful hunters directly from experience. What's Inside: Stories from Dirk's elk hunting career. Tips on how to get close to bulls. How to make the best of hunting in a storm. How to locate elk in the dark.
