On this Laetare Sunday we are delighted to have + Paul Dempsey, one of the auxiliary bishops of Dublin join John and Shane on the podcast to share his journey to priesthood and to becoming a bishop but also what he learnt on a visit to Kenya in January 2024 and what the people of the diocese of Marsabit in northern Kenya could teach the Irish church about sharing the faith. Bishop Paul Dempsey is one of the current auxiliary bishops of Dublin although he started out his episcopal service as the bishop of Achonry in the west of Ireland until Pope Francis decided to move him to assist Archbishop Farrell in Dublin as part of the reorganisation of the dioceses in the west of Ireland. He shares with us some of his vocation story and about what he ministers to now in Dublin. But he also shares with us his experience of visiting the diocese of Marsabit in January 2024 and what he learnt about being church in that vast space in northern Kenya. He takes us through the role of the catechist in the small Christian communities and how key they are where there are no priests, reflects on the basic nature of missionary work and what we can learn from that in Ireland where the assumed role of the faith in the fabric of society has come under so much strain and rupture. Taking the work of the theologian and missionary Fr Vincent Donovan, Bishop Paul reminds us that as a church we are called to work with people "not to call them back to where they were......not to try and call them to where you are, as beautiful as that place might seem to you. [We] must have the courage to go with them to a place neither you nor they have ever been before".Text us at +353 874668950 or email at comeandseeinspirtaions@gmail.com

Bernard Fanning is no stranger to the limelight. With Powderfinger he sold millions of albums and rocked out to stadiums of adoring fans. Then he stripped it back as a solo artist and went Number 1 again. Bernard holds the record for the most amount of Hottest 100 number 1's, he is adored by generations of Australians, and is one of the most enjoyable people to chat music with.Bernard's new project with Paul Dempsey proves he's still compelled to create music, and with all of this history, we sat down in Melbourne's legendary Bakehouse Studios to Take 5.Interestingly, Bernard came up with his own theme for this one; he was super keen to explore the world's of vulnerability and bravado. And from Bowie to Nina Simone, AC/DC to Bob Dylan, we unpacked a whole lot more. Settle in for this special extended cut of Bernard Fanning's Take 5.AC/DC – ‘Jailbreak'David Bowie – ‘Sound And Vision'Nina Simone – 'I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free'Prince – ‘1999'Bob Dylan – ‘Most Of The Time' Watch Take 5 on ABC iview: https://iview.abc.net.au/show/take-5-with-zan-rowe

As the director of Winterman and Goldstein Management and co-founder of Ivy League Records and Ivy League Music Publishing, Andy has successfully nurtured and launched some of the biggest bands in the world. The Vines, Jet, Empire of the Sun, Paul Dempsey, Youth Group, The Avalanches, Something for Kate, The Living End, just to name a few of the bands this great leader would reportedly jump in front of a speeding train for. Andy's lifetime of success in the music industry is a credit to his ability to write his own rules and to challenge the existing structures within the industry. His reputation is enormous and his stories about working with the great Michael Gudinski are hilarious. The other day when Bernard Fanning and Paul Dempsey were here, we touched on something dear to my heart - using music as a way to enhance your day. I've used music as a tool for as long as I can remember. To shift mood states, to help me remember things, and to concentrate. It's the last one that had me thinking a bit - and it's something I wanted to share with you in the hope it might be useful Spotify Playlists:https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5kahhMRNRn3cGvZgnzNhzp?si=1d81b69c466c4ff9https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3boTr6G5GYwBaI78lXbVOU?si=3de2f14e675240e3Artist Instagrams:Instagram (@hailconan)Instagram (@sunnofficial) Hosted on Acast. Bernard Fanning and Paul Dempsey are Australian artists and songwriters. Their debut album "Fanning Dempsey National Park" is out now.
What would you do if you had nothing to prove? If you were free to make any project you liked, in whatever shape you liked, to reflect your experience in that moment? Better yet - what if you got to do all of this with a close mate you've known for over 20 years? That pretty much describes the conversation Osher has around the new music from Bernard Fanning and Paul Dempsey. Two seminal Australian singer songwriters, they both have enormous careers and a legacy of music which has been the soundtrack to Australian life for nearly 30 years. Yet when they team up - the music they make sounds nothing like Powderfinger or Something for Kate - yet is still so very distinctly them. The new album is “The Deluge” - “Fanning Dempsey National Park”. Are touring in Oct - OG will see you there. Thanks to a Patreon patron we checked out their 1999 sophomore follow-up Beautiful Sharks to hear the evolution of the band. Whereas the debut offered some catchy alt-rock, Beautiful Sharks is a more subdued yet intricate album, putting new bassist Stephanie Ashworth on display as the guitars back-off to allow more space for lead singer/guitarist Paul Dempsey to weave intricate vocal and musical melodies. "We've been in rehearsal the last couple of nights and it's a bit of everything from across our... whatever it is, seven albums, eight albums," he smiled. "We've just done a bunch of shows, the three of us playing our first record, because it's been the 25th anniversary this year of our first album so we will be playing a fair bit of stuff from our first album, but also a few things from our latest album and everything in between and probably a couple of covers. And we've got our friends Adrian and Olivia who join us on extra guitars and keyboards and stuff, so we're touring as a five piece and we're itching to play. While they aren't a primary care facility, they do offer a variety of services that you won't find anywhere else. Dr Dempsey sees patients that have been referred by physicians for medical consultation, our Special Kids, Special Care services, and Sport Medicine Clinic. As with medical consultation, his Special Kids, Special Care services for children with special needs are by hospital or physician referral only. Some of the conditions for which shared care would be an option include: cerebral palsy, congenital heart diseases, Down Syndrome and other genetic disorders, epilepsy and other problems. In Special Kids, Special Care situations, patients continue ongoing primary care with their family doctor, while he assumes responsibility for monitoring and coordinating care of medical issues which require specialized training, or additional time not available to most family physicians. Ultimately each diagnosis has a different list of needs and as such the treatment options he handles vary on a case by case basis.
