On this episode of Cinedicate, we become another brick in the wall. Diego, Chicago graphic designer, returns to talk about the rock album turned live-action film, The Wall. Pink Floyd's album, The Wall, was adapted into a film three years after its initial release. Pink Floyd combined the experimental visuals of animation and live-action to create a unique story that mirrored what their record stood for thematically. Pink (Bob Geldof), a successful musician, while strung-out on drugs reflects back to his childhood in his hotel room. There he reminisces about the loss of his father in WWII and how his mother coped by becoming overbearing. Pink's trauma, both past and present, manifests in the creation of a wall around himself. Ultimately turning him into the very thing that killed his father.
Hilary and Lacey are joined for the first time by Sam Mason to discuss Pink Floyd's 1982 surrealist musical The Wall. We also talk about the Dark Side of Oz, Demi Lovato's new album, and Hilary's recent SMASH binge watch. https://linktr.ee/weirdos_pod --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/we-are-the-weirdos-mister/support
Again I'm dumbfounded as to how the fuck to shut up about this guy, Doug Cheatwood. He's a great friend and one of the most amazing musical minds I know. He has a massive body of work and produced 10 albums with their own full length videos in just the past 2 years alone. And has 5 more coming! This guy's the real deal and has chosen one of the most revered and challenging records of all time, Pink Floyd's The Wall. Figures. I hope you like the show and please check out all of Doug's music, especially his latest project, The Totalitarian here: https://thetotalitarian.bandcamp.com https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvorCWF03EI76yj6EndDn3g And learn more about us and find all our social media here: www.psychicstatic.net Theme song written and performed by Jeff Robbins of 123 Astronaut.

What happens when a cold-case detective applies his investigative skills to the New Testament Gospels? Find out as Timothy meets up with award-winning detective and bestselling apologetics author J. Warner Wallace. In addition to being a detective and apologist, Wallace is also a guitarist, bassist, and—Timothy is thrilled beyond words to discover—a fan of Steve Perry and Journey. With great difficulty, Timothy manages to restrain his adoration for Steve Perry just long enough to ask J. Warner Wallace a few questions about apologetics and the New Testament Gospels. In the second half of the podcast, Garrick and Timothy examine a band that was known at different times as Sigma 6, the Meggadeaths, and the Tea Set. Not surprisingly, the band never took off until they changed their name to Pink Floyd. "Another Brick in the Wall" is the musical focus for this week, but it's difficult for Garrick and Timothy to remain focused when talking about a band that once lost an inflatable pig that was roughly the size of a bus in the skies over London. In the end, however, the dynamic duo suppresses most of their attention deficits and manages to look at Pink Floyd's The Wall from the perspective of a biblical theology of guilt and shame. Also, Pig On the Lam would be a great name for a band. The first few minutes of the Toy Box Hero Tournament go completely off the rails as Garrick raises a grievance that forces Timothy to make a painful confession about the first episode of this season. In the end, however, your intrepid cohosts put their differences aside long enough to engage in a battle that forces a triad of testudines into mortal combat against Captain Marvel; in the end, the only thing that can possibly save the testudine triad is the hope that Carol Danvers might be an environmentalist. This Week’s Guest: J. Warner Wallace J. Warner Wallace is a cold-case homicide detective, popular national speaker, and best-selling author. Wallace became a Christ-follower at the age of thirty-five after investigating the claims of the New Testament gospels using his skill set as a detective. He continues to consult on cold-case investigations while serving as a Senior Fellow at the Colson Center for Christian Worldview. He is also an adjunct professor of apologetics at Talbot School of Theology (Biola University) and Southern Evangelical Seminary, and a faculty member at Summit Ministries. What do pretentious rock stars sound like? Have a listen to this episode with The Eagles! Sure, Hotel California is a classic, but Don Henley and Glenn Frey make it sound like it’s a soundtrack for how to live a purposeful life. Henley & Frey DO make some excellent points as well, but Christopher and Tom spend a lot of time having fun at their expense! We also have an incredible early ‘70s interview with the great Diana Ross, reflecting on the early days of The Supremes. She also talks about her great affection for The Jackson Five and tries to answer the question of who really discovered them! And in one of our favourite segments ever, Canadian legend Bob Ezrin talks about producing Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”. Bob explains how Roger Waters was both the best and worst person to work with – and the struggles that came along with creating the biggest selling album of the ‘70s. It’s a great insight behind the scenes of a classic!

In a career spanning nearly 50 years, Canadian record producer Bob Ezrin has been just as close to the heartbeat of the music as the musicians themselves. He's produced huge albums, like Pink Floyd's The Wall, wrangled some of the most colourful and challenging personalities in classic rock, travelled all over the continent and earned a spot in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. In that time, he's worked on major records with Lou Reed, U2, Kiss, Nine Inch Nails, Peter Gabriel, Alice Cooper and many more. Ezrin joined host Tom Power in the q studio to take us through the highlights of his unbelievable career, including one of the most notoriously troubled recording sessions ever with Pink Floyd, why his first gig as a producer for Alice Cooper "was like stepping into a Hieronymus Bosch painting," and why he once duct taped Peter Gabriel to a pillar.

Matt is a multimedia artist, musician, inventor and sculptor. He was a founding member of the dark ambient band Lab Report that included such diverse musicians as Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Lydia Lunch and Chris Connelly. Schultz also invented the A.T.G. or Anti Tank Guitar and utilized this instrument with the Lab Report and Pigface. In total, Schultz has appeared on over 29 cds with 9 solo productions and 2 feature film soundtracks (Ivan's XTC and Snuffmovie) for Hollywood director Bernard Rose. In 2010, Schultz manifested the esoteric and ancient fraternal order of The Division which reconstructed ancient spells and rituals reinterpreted aurally. Mantras is the first in a trilogy of discs that express all aspects of The Division. Matt's latest release is Mandalas. This album contains binaurual beats and tones to aid in meditation and dream states. Matt has also spent time in Peru working at an Ayahuasca healing center as a facilitator. He has worked extensively with Lakota and Mayan Elders for over 15 years and is a water pourer for sweat lodges. He continues to be involved in indigenous medicine ceremonies of many varieties. The ladies embark on the Great Glen Kayak Trip before a little carving at their Nordic Woodcraft in the Forest excursion. Now for the big one, they go in search of "Nessie" on the Deepscan Vessel out in the Loch Ness waters. Alison looked for a Loch Ness monster prop to scare her friends but all she found was this. For a real taste of local flavor, they head to a Scottish home for an authentic meal, beer and bagpipes.LULU’S 10K DAY - YEKATERINBURG, RUSSIA: (43:12) Lulu stays in a suite at the Novotel, whose concierge finds her a car and driver. Satirical cartoonist Gerald Scarfe nominates Walt Disney. Gerald Scarfe spent much of his childhood in his sick bed, so it's not surprising that Disney cartoons and feature films meant so much to him. He can still recall the thrill at the prospect of seeing Pinocchio at the cinema, and then the agony of being lead away again in the rain because the tickets were too expensive. Walt Disney came from a working family. His god-fearing father Elias, said by one writer to have 'hated Capital, and favoured Labour, but really needed to make a buck', found work where he could. So Walt lived a peripatetic childhood, and sought solace in drawing and play acting. Hard times early on did not make Walt frugal with money in adulthood, and despite the huge successes of the golden era of Disney, it was only with the opening of Disneyland that Walt attained any substantial personal wealth. You don't have to look far to find myth surrounding Walt Disney. Even after his death, rumours that his body had been cryogenically frozen spread so widely that they soon slipped into folklore. He had actually been cremated, but the readiness with which the cryogenic claim was accepted perhaps bears witness to a man who was terrified of dying, who believed in the white hope of technology and who, some might say, had been searching all his life for an escape into an immortal, fairytale world. Matthew Parris, Gerald Scarfe and guest experts Brian Sibley and Richard Williams, creator of Roger Rabbit, discuss the life of a complex cultural icon. A man who was seemingly unpretentious, and did not fit the image of movie mogul with his scruffy tweed jacket and awkward demeanour, yet a man who was accused of being a tyrannical egomaniac. The son of a socialist who ended up naming names at the House of Un- American Activities committee. Above all else perhaps though, they discuss the life of a man who strove tirelessly for perfection and who changed the cultural landscape of a little boy called Gerald, and arguably of the world, for ever. Scarfe himself is best known for his classic images lampooning the great and the good of politics, and also in his iconic animation for Pink Floyd's The Wall. He reveals in this programme that he also spent time working on the Disney production Hercules. The producer is Miles Warde.
