If you know without any question that the call of God is on you, then God will do something dramatic in your life. Get yourself ready spiritually for that moment! I am determined that I am going to get what I want from God! Stop dreaming, get into ACTION, now! Do you want to be where God is? Do you want the power of God? 'Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat its grapes? Who tends a flock and does not drink the milk? Do I say this merely on human authority? Doesn't the Law say the same thing? For it is written in the Law of Moses: ‘Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.' Is it about oxen that God is concerned? Surely he says this for us, doesn't he? Yes, this was written for us, because whoever ploughs and threshes should be able to do so in the hope of sharing in the harvest. In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.' (1 Corinthians 9.1-14, NIV) In this chapter, the apostle Paul the Apostle defends his rights as an apostle but explains why he chooses not to use those rights, for the sake of the Gospel. Paul teaches that Christian freedom and rights should be willingly set aside when necessary for the sake of others and the advancement of the Gospel. I'm 94 - I do everything to win some by all possible means - I run to win the crown that will last forever: "Lord, keep me faithful to the end!" So Apollos and I should be looked upon as Christ's servants who distribute God's blessings by explaining God's secrets. Now the most important thing about a servant is that he does just what his master tells him to, (1 Corinthians 4.1-2, TLB). The Corinthians had begun acting spiritually superior, as though they had already “arrived.” Paul contrasts their self-confidence with the reality of apostolic ministry, which involved suffering, humility, rejection, and endurance. True spiritual leadership is marked by sacrifice, not status. Paul speaks to them as a spiritual father, correcting them out of love. His goal is restoration, not punishment. He reminds them that the Kingdom of God is not just talk, but power – genuine faith produces transformed lives, not just impressive words. Through the prophet Joel, God says, 'I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh...' He goes on to talk about the first and the latter rain. I believe that the first rain fell 2000 years ago on the Day of Pentecost, and that today we are living in the days of the latter rain. As a young man I was determined I would have an experience with God that was incorruptible, that could not be destroyed, that would last until the appearing of Christ! In the late 1950s, I heard that the first World Pentecostal Conference in Jerusalem would be held on the Day of Pentecost, in May 1961. - I was determined to be there to receive a new baptism of fire! My Bible says that the church of God began in fire on the Day of Pentecost, and the church will end in fire when Christ returns! The foundation of our Christian life is Christ Himself and the Word of God. But now Paul says, “Let every man take heed how he builds on that foundation!” What a challenge to leaders and pastors - and today's influencers! V11, “There is no other foundation can be laid except Jesus Christ” - not some preacher, not Paul, not even David Hathaway! Come on! It has to be Christ who is the foundation on which our Christian lives are built! You've got then to be careful how and what you build on that foundation, v12. “If any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay or stubble - every man's work shall be revealed - by fire on that Day!” Did you know that? It's not just the sinner who gets tried and then cast into the fire, but when Christ comes back, when you enter the Kingdom, what you have done will be tested by fire! Fire will test everyone of us! You, me, every Christian believer. V14ff, if your work, what you've built, survives, you will receive a reward! When I grew up, I was taught that there's a reward in the Kingdom for faithfulness! What we do down here is building a home for ourselves for the whole of eternity! Some build with hay or stubble - it won't last, it won't stand the fire! I don't want riches or fame down here. Jesus said, “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?” You can be the richest, most powerful man on earth - Putin or Donald Trump, whoever. But in eternity it's gone! I know what Putin built, it wasn't on Christ. For some, if our work is burned, v15, we will suffer loss, but we ourselves will be saved - if our foundation is Christ. What you do after salvation - is tested by fire. Everything you build for your own profit and gain will be burned up. V16, “Don't you know that you are the Temple, the House of God? … if any man defiles the Temple of God, God will destroy him, for God is Holy, and you are His Temple!!!  Even leaders in the Church can find that their work is destroyed and they're only saved as out of the fire. Church, imagine your reaction if your house were burned down! But, v23, “You are Christ's and Christ is God's”! When you come to Christ, you leave behind worldly things to live in a ‘Christ dimension' - a dimension so distinct and different from the world we grew up in. That's why Jesus said you've got to be ‘born again' - come on! You've got to die to the old, and, like a new-born, you've got to start and learn the basics. That's why Paul says in v2, “I gave you milk and not meat, because you were not able, and you're still are not able. You still behave like worldly people do…” Even today we too easily follow men, rather than Christ! I don't follow men, even though I grew up in the days of some very great Pentecostal leaders in Britain - among them Evangelist George Jeffreys, Smith Wigglesworth. I don't look to those men, even though when I was born Jeffreys wanted to adopt me as his son. I don't want to follow any man. I want to follow Jesus. Come on! I want to do what Jesus said, I want to do what He told his disciples to do - preach the Gospel, heal the sick. My power doesn't come because somebody laid hands on me; my power comes because God touched me! The evidence is there, in my life. So v7, it's neither Paul who planted, nor Apollos who watered, it's God Himself who gives the increase! The Power comes from Him! Paul says, v8, “He that plants and he that waters are one, and every man shall receive his own reward according to his work, what he has done.” Now this is a very important point.There is a reward in the Kingdom, but the reward depends on what you do for Christ.  Paul explains, v9ff, “We are labourers together with God… you are God's building.” It's God who makes us who we are, it's God who builds us. “According to the Grace of God given to me, I am the masterbuilder, I laid the foundation, and another builds on it.” Very simple. The evangelist lays the foundation which is Christ, but then you need another to build on that foundation. But if the foundation isn't right - and this is what Jesus taught - if you build your house on sand, it will collapse. We need a final Holy Ghost revival to sweep the final ones into the Kingdom of God, as promised in the prophecies of Joel! Prophecy is unfolding fast, and in a different way to what most expected. I will speak more about this here in the UK, because it seems to me that the most neglected prophet is Joel, but all my life I have been greatly influenced by him. Before Covid, we filled the Westminster Central Hall in London to overflowing with more than 2,000 people to pray for our nation. On 12 July a capacity crowd filled the Emmanuel Centre, London, for a Holy Ghost Impartation service, celebrating 75 years of David Hathaway's ministry.  With anointed worship led by Lara Martin and Steve and Velveta Thompson, plus an incredible video performance of My Tribute (To God be the Glory) as recorded by Vinesong for David's 70th anniversary celebration; powerful prayer led by Evangelist Daniel Chand and Tim Vince; and a moving video compilation of David Hathaway's ministry as filmed over the years; then as David spoke, the Holy Spirit came down in power. Healings – anointing – and a powerful spiritual challenge. The Power of God today is stronger now than even in the days of the Bible – his life is a witness to the ‘greater miracles' Jesus prophesied.  David says: “All my life I set out to prove who Jesus is, to prove His power, to prove His authority. My life has been a demonstration of the truth, the effectiveness and the Power of the Word of God. Now, aged 93, I have not reached the limits of God's Power HERE, ON EARTH! But the faith driving me is not in my head, it's in my heart. I want to share this passion with you.”

Why is star formation the workhorse of the universe? What is a flocculent galaxy? Which cosmic cataclysm creates new globular star clusters? And why are we currently seeing such amazing aurora in unusual places? To find out, Dr. Charles Liu and co-host Allen Liu welcome astronomer Dr. Kelsey Johnson, past president of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) and of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP), and author of “Into the Unknown – The Quest to Understand the Mysteries of the Cosmos.” As always, though, we start off with the day's joyfully cool cosmic thing, the auroras that have been occurring during the peak of the current solar max period of the roughly 11-year-long solar cycle. From the Mother's Day aurora borealis in May to the amazing night of October 10, when millions of people as far south as Florida and Mexico were treated to one of the most spectacular, vibrant light shows many of them had ever seen. Kelsey shares the story of the first time she saw an aurora, as a high school student in Minnesota who didn't even know what one was. Upon leaving her boyfriend's house at around 2 in the morning, she saw a brilliantly glowing sky. Kelsey's availability bias kicked in, and her assumption was that it had to be either god or aliens, with the latter being the more likely. Needless to say, the next day the front page of the local paper solved the mystery. And then it's on to a nerdy discussion of existential curiosity, deep, philosophical questions, and her book, “Into the Unknown.” You'll hear what drove Kelsey to write the book, and about her lifelong drive to understand our place in the universe. Kelsey and Allen nerd out over Calabi-Yau manifolds (concepts from string theory), imaginary numbers and complex numbers, Euler's Formula and more, and then, thankfully, it's time for our first question. Johnny asks, “What is a flocculent galaxy, and why are they interesting?” Kelsey says that they're spiral galaxies with spiral arms that aren't very pronounced, that are exceptionally “floofy and chaotic” with very different, but very cool star formation. Chuck and Kelsey explain why star formation is the workhorse of the universe and how important it is. Kelsey also explains why globular clusters are her “favorite” type of star cluster. There are about 150 of them living around our galaxy, and they're almost as old as the universe itself, over 10 billion years old. Kesley studies them to learn how the universe was formed and how galaxies came together. New globular clusters are rare, but they can be created by the collision of two galaxies. Sudden Death Records and Roots Round Up are pleased to announce the release of "Up Rooted," the 6th full-length album from one of Vancouver's long-time music scene veterans. The album was recorded by Stephen Hamm at Simian Studios in Burnaby, BC, with final mixing and mastering by renowned Canadian music producer Chris Wardman. "Up Rooted" features 12 tracks, including six new original songs, a cover of DOA's classic "War in the East," a unique take on the Sarcastic Mannequins' "Red Fury," and four live recordings from a performance on Denman Island, BC, in June 2023. According to member David Hathaway, “Roots Round Up has always been more about the live shows than the recorded output, but capturing that in a recording has proved elusive. The live songs were captured at our first full show after the pandemic had settled down, and we were more than a little excited to be playing again. Especially on Denman Island where we have played many times over the years. We had gotten an audio feed from Chris Wardman's mix of the show and as we listened back the next day, we thought "wait a minute… this came out well!" In addition to finally capturing their live sound, the album also captures Roots Round Up's distinctive and eclectic sound, blending rock'n roll, reggae, ska, afro-beat, folk, funk, and punk. Roots Round Up has a storied history in the Canadian music scene, with band members Greg Hathaway, David "Dymitri" Hanna, David Hathaway, Keith Rose, Mark Campbell, Eric Napier, and Bradford Lambert contributing to their high-energy, globe-spanning sound. Formed in 1985 in East Vancouver, the band became widely known throughout Canada during the late '80s and early '90s as one of the hardest working and touring worldbeat dance bands. Formed out of the hardcore punk scene in Vancouver in 1985 but included elements of reggae, ska, and old school rock'n roll in their sound. He's also a former supervisory agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration, and he participated in the DEA's largest-ever homicide investigation, Operación Leyenda, to track down the killers of DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena in the 1980s. Hathaway's participation in Camarena's murder investigation, and his discovery that the CIA was not only smuggling drugs but also involved in Camarena's death in Mexico, led Hathaway to conclude that America's war on drugs is a failure, which spurs government corruption on both sides of the border as illustrated (yet again) in the current trial of former Mexican anti-drug official Genaro Garcia Luna in New York. David Hathaway is the sheriff in a county of Arizona that borders Mexico. He does not believe the government is the way to solve our problems, but he's in office for now so no tyrannical person will be. He's doing what he can to protect everyone in his large family as well as his ranch and personal freedom. He has refused his governor's offer of troops to patrol his portion of the border. He works to show everyone in and near his county God's love. His consistent experience with the church and other freedom-lovers spewing wild hate when it comes to the wall led him to write a book on immigration and several articles for Lew Rockwell and the Libertarian Institute. Jesus instructed us to love our neighbor and our enemy. So regardless of how you view them, it makes no sense to attack people for crossing a man-made line in the sand. But a lot of Christians and anarchists who stand on principle for many other issues completely change their tune when it comes to the wall and Mexico. Many of us are hoping to someday be a part of a voluntary society. We often ask: would a sheriff be a part of that? David shares his thoughts. Also, we all know the mainstream media hides the truth from us. But they are pretending so hard that COVID is terrible, they're completely ignoring the fact that suicide and overdoses killed more people during the lockdown than this “epidemic” did directly.
