How can Christians respond to human trafficking in a way that reflects the heart of the Gospel? In this episode, I'm joined by Raleigh Sadler, author of Vulnerable: Rethinking Human Trafficking, to discuss the intersection of vulnerability, justice, and faith. Raleigh shares why vulnerability is at the core of both the problem and the solution to human trafficking, and how our understanding of the Gospel should shape the way we engage with our neighbors. We also talk about how the Church can become more aware of and intentional in caring for the vulnerable — whether by preventing exploitation or showing compassion to those already in hard circumstances without judgment. If you've ever felt overwhelmed or unsure of where to start, Raleigh offers practical steps to empower you to take meaningful action in your community. It's one thing to be vulnerable by choice and quite another to find yourself unwittingly so. Today, we discuss the healthiest ways to share our human vulnerabilities with expert Raleigh Sadler, Enneagram Type 6 (The MercyCast ) in a rich conversation on what vulnerability is and how hard it is to be vulnerable in relationships, especially when we've been burned or haven't known how to navigate sensitive terrain. Here you'll find tips for when to lean in, when to set some distance, and when rest is needed after a vulnerable event. We also specifically give tips for men seeking a culture of healthy vulnerability, since there are often extra layers of barriers here. Lastly and most urgently, we touch on some of the most vulnerable populations out there as Raleigh's outreach largely surrounds the most vulnerable in our population, sex trafficking victims, with his world outreach, Let My People Go. In this episode, Katie Koplin and Gretchen Ronnevik interview their friend Raleigh Sadler, who is the founder and executive director of "Let My People Go" which is a ministry that empowers churches to fight human trafficking, and reaching those most vulnerable. These guys have had a lot of laughter together at various conferences, and we start by talking about the weird humor that comes from working in such heavy, dark places. He wrote a book called "Vulnerable: Rethinking Human Trafficking" and how everyday, regular church goers can reach their most vulnerable neighbors--not by being a superhero, but by tapping into their own vulnerablity. He gives the old youth group illustration of standing up on a chair, and trying to pull someone up, and how much easier it is for them to pull us down. He invites us instead to step off of our chair, and be vulnerable in the low places. It's an interesting conversation on righteousness, holiness, vulnerability, and what it means to love our vulnerable neighbors. How can the most difficult moments of our lives point us to our purpose? Where can we find God's will for our lives in the sufferings that we have faced? Raleigh Sadler, author and founder of the anti-trafficking organization, Let My People Go, experienced a shift in his life's trajectory after the tragic loss of his best friend to cancer. From that painful moment, God seemed to align a path that he had never considered by helping the most vulnerable and yet his first task was leaning into his own vulnerability in the aftermath of his pain. Since then, Raleigh has led many churches in the fight against the injustice of human trafficking and has seen his own purpose emerge in the process. In this conversation, Eric and Raleigh discuss how our vulnerability often unlocks our life's purpose, how the gospel applies to the most forgotten of people, and the way in which suffering forges deeper meaning in our lives than we could have ever imagined for ourselves. If your pain has left you wondering if God could use you, this episode will show you that every moment of suffering is illuminating a path forward in helping others heal if you allow vulnerability to lead the way. Raleigh is an author and nonprofit leader. As the executive director of Let My People Go (lmpg.org), his passion is to see the local church fight human trafficking by loving those most vulnerable.
In this week's episode our friend Raleigh Sadler joins us. He is the founder and director of Let My People Go. He has written a new workbook to help churches understand human trafficking and vulnerable people. Also, we laugh a ton because he is genuinely hilarious. He closes us out with a devotional on rest.
Episode 131 – Get ready for a vulnerable, powerful conversation today with Raleigh Sadler, author, activist and global influencer against human trafficking. Raleigh shares his personal journey away from the comforts of an expected faith, and into the unexpected world of serving “the least of these” in the Name of Jesus. He tells Stephanie about facing his fears and how daring to be vulnerable with God and with others is the key to embracing weakness as Paul does, and to live the life that God created for us. It is not easy—it will actually require everything you have, and then some—but it is modeled after what our Lord has done for us. Today, we invite you to dare to take a small step towards embracing Stephanie's favorite verse, Philippians 3:10: For my determined purpose is that I may KNOW Christ, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering. As you discover practical ways to serve the orphan, the widow, the vulnerable and the least of these in your own communities, you will taste fresh flavors of fellowship with the One who left everything behind and made Himself vulnerable in the ultimate sense, so that in Him we may learn to be weak so that He may be strong. MEET RALEIGH SADLER Human trafficking can affect as many as 40.3 million people globally. The problem is that most often those who are trafficked are hidden in plain sight. Victims are often hidden behind our assumptions. In other words, human trafficking is the exploitation of vulnerabilities for commercial gain. Exploiters are looking for those who are marginalized and stigmatized. They are looking for the people who won't be noticed by society at large. For this reason, human trafficking can happen anywhere because there are vulnerable people everywhere. But what would happen if the local church began to take notice of those who are most at risk of exploitation in their communities? Having served in Christian ministry since 2001, Raleigh Sadler believes that the local church is God's answer to those most vulnerable. Currently, he is the founder and executive director of Let My People Go. His passion is to see the local church fight global injustices, like human trafficking, by loving those whom traffickers most often target. His passion is to see the local church fight global injustices, like human trafficking, by loving those most vulnerable. He believes that the church should be leading the way in the fight against human trafficking because the Gospel frees us to pursue justice and mercy in our communities. With this message, he has worked with churches, universities, and other collaborative organizations around the country. He believes it is the responsibility of the church to love those who are at risk of exploitation. Practically, this "love" is evidenced throughout the congregation as the church identifies, empowers, protects, and includes those who traffickers would normally target. While any church can begin a ministry to the vulnerable, not every church can actually sustain this ministry overtime. For this reason, Let My People Go paces with each church as they aim to empower their congregation to care for the hurting in their respective communities. BECOME A GOSPELSPICE MEMBER TODAY! The vast majority of Men on Purpose resist their calling in the beginning. We don’t think we’re ready. Or we believe the problem is too big. Or that we’re not good enough. So, how do we develop the courage to say YES to the reason we’re here? And how do we keep moving forward—even when we’re face down in our own frustration? What You'll Hear: Raleigh felt led to get involved in fighting human trafficking after hearing a message in a conference, he realized that "If we're not paying the highest price, someone else is" He saw there was a need to work with churches to help the vulnerable people that were being trafficked "You take one step at a time and learn" He read the book "Start Something that Matters" and that was very impactful If you can start an organization and have a passion about it, that's very important If someone's already doing it just work with them "There's a strong 3 years of struggle when you start a non-profit...push through and keep going" Investigate who are the stakeholders already in this space You want to have a clean mission statement that gets right to what you want to address At first Raleigh confused his strategy with his mission, your strategy is how do you get to the mission You need to know the difference between your vendor and your client You want to think of a good name You want to hire a tax attorney or accountant, you want to appoint board members, file articles of incorporation, get an employee identification number, get a business bank account, draft by-laws, apply for a 501c3, apply for state tax exemption, have board meetings, address letters you receive immediately "If you never feel like you want to quit, you're probably not doing it right" If you work with your spouse, just like Chip and Joanna Gaines, each have your area of focus "Your starting Board is going to be different than your Board in years to come" Your Board of Advisors should be different than your Board of Directors It's not common for Board members of non-profits to be compensated Go to www.lmpgnetwork.org

A = Announcement - Earlybird Registration on/or before Sept. 1 is $39.95 for Christian Men at Work Retreat on Oct. 4-5. Go to www.LivingHisDream.com S = Something on My Heart - What is your mission statement? - Raleigh Sadler interview on non-profit the importance of a clear mission statement - For this ministry - "We are a movement of men bringing heaven to earth, living God's dream for our daily work, casting aside the last brick between God's will and ours, imperfectly but fully and completely integrating our faith into every part of our lives, positively changing the trajectory for the rest of our lives as well as the lives of dozens of others we will impact, inspire, love on, and bless both inside and outside our workplace." Along with that second chances. In my church, we had 3rd in a series on the book of Jonah focusing Ch 3 where Jonah goes to Ninevah, tells them what God wanted him to tell them, and the people of Ninevah listened, repented, and God decided not to destroy them. God is a God of second chances (by second mean more than 1). Recent interviews, testimonies about a 2 step process, being "saved" and then fully committing (making Jesus their Lord). For what do you need a chance? Being saved ? (probably not) Fulling committing to be a follower of Jesus (maybe). Fully surrendering your work, the part of your life where you spend most of your waking hours, and not just saying that but begin the process of working out what that actually means. Maybe you've blown it as a husband or father, either generally or in a very specific recent way. Maybe you've drifted from God and been floating along the river of life going with what our culture feeds you and carving out a small part of your life (Sunday morning ) to God. Maybe you've been a religious zealot like Saul or the Pharisees of the New Testament, following the letter of the law (or man's religious tradition) buy not following the spirit of the law, loving God and loving others. Or fill in the blank. We've all missed it and we all daily miss it. Isaish 43:25 says "I, even I, am He that botteth out they transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins". Psalm 103:12 "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us". Romans 8:37 "We are more than conquerers through Him who loved us". So when establishing your mission statement for your work (I'll be making one for mine), don't make a weany, weak mission because you think you're not worthy of anything more. Remember God is a God of second chances so no matter what your past looks like, your future is promising and exciting as a follower of Jesus Christ. - Founder and Exec. Director of Let My People Go (NYC) - Passion to see the church fight global injustice - Author of an incredible book: Vulnerable: Rethinking Human Trafficking
Raleigh Sadler preaches from Exodus 20:12-13.
Raleigh Sadler, Founder of Let My People Go ministries talks about human trafficking in the context of Psalm 41.
What You'll Hear: Raleigh wasn't growing up in a Christian household. He was invited to a vacation Bible School and they had cookies He later prayed to receive Christ at 8 years old, though he doubted it for years He is the founder and Exec Director of Let My People Go, a non-profit dedicated to stopping human trafficking which is the exploitation of vulnerability for commercial gain He had his dream job as a campus pastor in West Virginia when they phased out his job. At the same time, God was calling him to be involved in the issue of human trafficking A great way to find what God is doing is to seek out those most vulnerable Our churches often reflect us, our socio-economic background. We like to be comfortable It's easy to love those who are clean and aren't dealing with trauma. God is calling us to love those of His choosing, not those of our choosing We can seek out those most vulnerable in the workplace, just like in our high school cafeteria If we want to get to know someone, we have to actually sit down, and hear their story on their terms If we do this, it will broaden and will deepen our dependence on the Gospel Vulnerability is not easy, but it's worth it When we talk to people and are being transparent in a way where we're actually risking something, people open up Men have been taught that emotional constipation is the norm and something to which we should aspire If we focus on self protection, we'll never be free to protect others The Pharisees used their religiosity as a mask and hid behind it, as Christians we often hide behind our own masks and we aren't vulnerable If you're not vulnerable with God, you're not going to be vulnerable with others There's a big difference between the theology of the glory and the theology of the cross Human trafficking can happen anywhere because there are vulnerable people anywhere Human trafficking includes sex trafficking, but also labor and domestic servitude Debt bondage involves a trafficker making someone owe them something and continues to increase the debt Your brokenness could ultimately point someone to wholeness Go to www.thevulnerablebook.com or www.lmpgnetwork.org

*Just a little warning about this week’s show: It gets very heavy at times and may cause some triggers. Don’t want anyone to be blind sided.* Did you know that 45.8 million people are exploited globally through human trafficking? It’s a 150 BILLION dollar business. These numbers shocked me and even more than that, I […] The post Duffified Live: Raleigh Sadler of LMPGNetwork.org appeared first on Radio Influence.
Today we begin to examine the ten plagues sent upon Egypt that testify to the power of the great I AM. It has been suggested that each plague is designed to show pharaoh, and all of Egypt all with him, that their gods are no match for the God of Israel, systematically robbing them of any power they claimed to have. While he is bested over and over again, Pharaoh’s heart is hardened and refuses to concede. ::: Did you know that in our present day there are over 40 million people in slavery? That’s 40 million of God’s image-bearers being held in captivity and oppressed by those who seek to profit from them. This is the beginning of the book of Exodus, a pivotal story in the history of Israel. Throughout Scripture, Israel is often reminded that God is the one who led His people out of bondage and out of Egypt; it’s a way to point to His power, His kindness, and His covenant faithfulness to fulfill His promises. As we enter the text, we’re told that Joseph has been forgotten and that the nation of Israel, though numerous, is being oppressed in the bonds of slavery. ::: Did you know that in our present day there are over 40 million people in slavery?
