Buckle up for an exhilarating ride with rally champions Andy and Mercedes Lilienthal as they steer us through their bone-chilling conquest in the Alcan 5000. Their tale isn't just about the miles; it's a masterclass in precision driving through winter's worst without the crutch of modern tech. In a tale that encapsulates the raw, unforgiving nature of rally racing, the Lilienthals reveal how their trusty 2024 Ineos Grenadier weathered the icy gauntlet, emerging not just as a winner, but as a seasoned warrior of the Arctic. The spirit of adventure doesn't end there; we salute the grit of all 36 teams that carved paths through the winter rally realm. Each journey is a testament to endurance, but imagine tackling snow-clogged transmission tunnels in a stock Mini Cooper Clubman – that's the kind of plucky resolve we're talking about. From vintage Capris to reliable Pajeros, these stories aren't just about the cars; they're about the relentless heart behind the wheel. And when it comes to the Grenadier, you'll get the inside scoop on its evolution from a mere prototype to an Arctic rally icon, now sitting proudly in a dealership, its battle scars worn like medals of honor. But what's an adventure without friends to share it with? Pull up a chair as we reminisce about old pals, the kind that bring tales of solar eclipses and leave you yearning for the next reunion. Switching gears, we lavish some attention on the 2023 Lexus LX600, an embodiment of luxury that proves you can have both velvet and vigor. From its upscale cabin comforts to the punchy performance of its twin-turbo V6, we explore the LX600's highs and lows, reinforcing our love for the companionship and storytelling that drive the heart of the automotive community. The Original Lupe' Tortilla Restaurants Lupe Tortilla in Katy, TexasSponsored by Gulf Coast Auto Shield Paint protection and more!Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. Explorer Series: We launch a new series, where we dive into a particular domain and explore the dynamics of a profession, craft and art. On this 2-part series we curiously dive into the art of Rally Racing.  Racing combines the best of engineering, road design and skill- It's about the human and machine moving as one.  Rally is one of the most unique forms of racing where you drive mostly with your feet, the road is completely unpredictable and communication in the cockpit is key. Dave Carapetyan (aka Texas Dave), Founder & CEO of Rally Ready and Professional Rally Driver, has spent nearly 20 years sliding rally cars in the dirt and pushing the limits.  This 11-time Pikes Peak and Baja 500 winner has learned a lot about himself and others through rally.  He believes the more we know, the further we are from the destination, making it difficult to feel settled in what one has accomplished.  Ego and the relentless pursuit for more is equally a superpower and liability in all of us, but those that can harness it are destined to change the world.  Dave transformed his career as a racing driver into something that he can share with others.  By introducing and teaching others the sport of rally, he has found a new gear.  The greatest rally instructors sometimes have little to no experience in rally, but are highly empathetic, great listeners and understand People deeply.  A great coach is not necessarily a great olympian.  Dave shares that the journey has become the destination and winning is not as important.  The further we chase the glory, the further we get away from our destination, because it will never be good enough.  Get obsessed with the ride and loving others - You'll arrive at your destination. Rob Winter, General Manager & Head Instructor at Rally Ready, has spent years perfecting his art of rally and teaching others this incredible practice.  This classically trained anthropologist and landscape architect says he was destined for rally, especially after studying People and Dirt. Rob shares that if Formula 1 is classical music, Rally is jazz.  Improv on the road and dealing with imperfection is paramount when getting the most out this practice.  He dives into the importance of keeping things simple (especially at high speeds) and how powerful clear communication is, with anything in life. Teaching folks and instructors how to rally has been an incredible privilege for Rob, especially since it's showed him how far empathy can really enhance an experience.  Being a student is much harder than being a teacher and putting yourself in the seat of those learning can make all the difference.  One of the things that makes Rally unique, is the driver/co-driver dynamic.  Being able to drive a car fast is one thing, but being able to verbally direct someone at high-speeds and do it calmly is another.  Rally can help us face our fears and work on the things that might be holding us back in life, but we have to first learn to let go.  Racing and life is supposed to be fun, but if you don't spend the time working on them, you'll just be a passenger.  Learn more about Rob & Rally Ready: www.rallyready.com Check out other ways Joseph and Team are serving other Leaders at www.cabreratoro.com Follow @cabreratoro_explore (Instagram) Follow www.youtube.com/@JosephCabreraExplore LinkedIn:CabreraToro

Derek Tam(Hyphen)Scott has waited for years for the chance to school Jason Cammisa on the importance of Lancia. Now reduced to little more than a badge-job, Italian-market joke, Lancia was once an automotive powerhouse. Derek speaks with interest and precision about Lancia's storied history — as if he was there, personally. It's a fascinating story that demonstrates just how incredible this Italian Automaker once was — and how resilient its spirit was. Once a champion of front-wheel drive rally cars, Lancia became part of the FIAT Group and was stripped of much of its core value. However, its desire to be a technical pioneer remained, and so Lancia continued to be untouchable in its racing efforts. WRC (the World Rally Championship) might not be as popular in the United States as it is and was abroad, but Lancia's dominance here is unmatched. When the ability of its front-wheel drive cars were threatened, Lancia created the first car ever to be purpose-built for Rally Racing and then adapted for street use. The mid-engined Lancia Stratos became an instant legend due to its immediate success. However, when that success threatened parent-company Fiat's WRC standing, it was killed off so that Fiat could campaign its Fiat 131 WRC. Lancia's never-dimmed spirit rose again with the outrageous 037, which was the last rear-wheel-drive car to ever win the World Rally Championship. Left ultimately with an uncompetitive fwd corporate economy hatch, the Delta, Lancia set about creating a legend: the Delta Integrale would grow to become one of the most successful race cars in history, winning SIX consecutive World Rally Championships — something no other car has ever managed, before or since. And this is just scratching the surface of Lancia's incredible history. === The Carmudgeon Show stars automotive journalist Jason Cammisa and walking encyclopedia Derek Tam-Scott, and is part of the Hagerty Podcast Network. Today's KLIM Dakar Rally Daily show from Stage 12 is here and we are blown away by how close the front of the race continues to be. Amazing rides at the front of the race today shook the results up and turned predictability on its head. But, the front three contenders are still in control and the time gaps are someone staying unbelievably tight. We're talking less than three minutes separating the top three, 28-second gap between the top two! That's right, 28 seconds is the gap at the top of this Dakar Rally. We hear directly from stage bosses Daniel Sanders and Toby Price as they represent Australia with big pride at the front of the race today, delivering crazy strong performances in the dunes. Skyler Howes steals some internet access and sends us an update from the last few stages, as well. Great to hear from you, Skyler! Finally, our on-the-ground man with the microphone, Ashley House brings us two quick interviews today. First up is Technical Director at the KTM group for Rally Stefan Huber, who we've talked to before, but never during a Dakar quite like this. Then, House takes us to the Original by Motul class and gets the two front runners, who are separated by less than three minutes for the win, in a dual-interview full of drama! Ok, not really, but it is entertaining to hear directly from the gladiators of Dakar.More fun and great race insight on today's show. Enjoy!

In this episode Amalia's guest is Roberto Yglesias, during the week he is a successful Product Manager for one of the top Software companies in the world (yes, that Software Company), and on the weekends, an adrenaline seeking National Rally Champion . Roberto's passion for cars as a child, eventually led him to discover rally car racing (rallying). That's just like normal track racing, right? Wrong! Rallying takes place on gravel and dirt roads, surrounded by trees and unpredictable terrain. Picture 80 – 90 vehicles racing each other at top speeds through windy roads in the forest and you still don't get the full picture. Luckily Roberto gives Amalia a Rally 101 of sorts, explaining the ins and outs of it all including how a young boy growing up in Costa Rica would eventually travel to the U.S., becoming the latest Rally Champion of Latino decent to hold the title. But this conversation isn't all about finding a higher gear. They also discuss how finding something as unpredictable and uncontrollable as racing has done wonders for his mental health. In Roberto's words “I'm an overthinker always strategizing so I have a hard time being present. So, when I'm driving, it forces me to be present. I found this to be very good for my mental health.” It's that “being present” that has benefitted him in more ways than one, from strategizing for projects, analyzing opportunities, to impacting his overall outlook on life. So buckle up and get ready for Amalia and Roberto to take you on a ride; learning to disconnect, embracing the unpredictable, and feeling the adrenaline to enjoy life to its fullest. Enjoy! In today's show we go deep into what many competitors are calling the toughest day of racing in the 2022 edition of the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia. Massive miles and challenging terrain, mixed with navigation complications right out of the gate, had front runners scrambling to limit time loss, while those who set off in a favorable starting position further back reaped maximum benefits.Starting the day in the overall lead for the rally, Monster Energy Yamaha's Adrian Van Beveren had a tough task starting towards the front of the race with rival teams surrounding him. It didn't take long for it to get worse as major time was lost in the first miles. We speak with Van Beveren's Yamaha teammate Andrew Short about the stage and what happened as time bled from Van Beveren's lead. We also hear from Pablo Quintanilla on the Monster Energy Honda team, as he kept his podium position intact after a tough day. Matthias Walkner on the Red Bull KTM is right there with him. Both of these riders needed to make more time today for overall victory considerations, but they're certainly not out of anything yet as anything can happen!Overall leader, once again, is GasGas' Sam Sunderland who had a great day, finishing only four seconds back from winning the stage to set himself up for a nice ride to the win in tomorrow's final, short, special stage. Red Bull KTM's Kevin Benavides re-entered the race after a mechanical DNF yesterday to take the overall win today from a deep 30's starting position. He will be a big asset to Sunderland's championship ride home tomorrow.More in today's episode you won't want to miss!

Stage nine of the 2022 Dakar Rally is done and dusted and Monster Energy Honda's Nacho Cornejo chowed down on the course to take his second stage victory in three days. We call in to Johnny Campbell inside the motorhome shared by American Ricky Brabec and the Chilean Cornejo as they prepare dinner with master chef Kendall Norman. Brabec and Cornejo give us the lowdown on the race, and Norman let's us all know what's for dinner. Then, we get a very cool surprise special guest on the show when Motocross and Supercross champion, ISDE Gold Medalist and MXGP podium regular/race winner Zach Osborne calls in on his way to the track. We expected Zach-O to have some unique perspectives on the rally so far, but we are honestly blown away by his race knowledge and smarts about rally. Also, he has a FACTORY RALLY RACE BIKE sitting in his garage. Will we see Osborne in a race soon? Sounds promising! Don't miss our chat! The race to the finish is still almost 1,000 km's away over the next three days. But the overall standings have never been this close. Time is hard to find out there so some BIG moves will be coming. We hear from overall contenders Kevin Benavides and Adrian Van Beveren in today's show. It's so exciting. Enjoy the show!

The 2022 Dakar Rally entered stage 7 after the "day without a race" rest day,  and it didn't take long for the drama to unfold.Daniel "Chucky" Sanders crashed violently seven kilometers from the start of the morning's liason, injuring his elbow severely and ending his Dakar hopes for 2022. The forceful Australian was confidently charging into the front of the race day after day, but a very harsh accident today ended it all. We talk with Jordi Villadoms from the KTM Group effort about the crash.Monster Energy Honda's Nacho Cornejo was the big winner today taking his first stage win of the year, and bringing a bright spot to the Honda camp as the rally enters the second week. Likewise, Joan Barreda came out firing today, ignoring a painful injured shoulder to finish high in the standings.  Ricky Brabec and Pablo Quintanilla raced to the front of the pack, and navigated well together today to finish the stage out front, physically, finishing seventh and 11th, respectively on the day.We hear from Ricky Brabec about the day. Other racers lost significant time today on the stage, and we have a new overall leader as Monster Energy Yamaha's Adrien Van Beveren took the reigns at the front of the general classification after a successful day.  previous days' leader Sam Sunderland (GasGas) and Red Bull KTM's Matthias Walkner lost big time today in the stage, but still sit comfortably in the top five of the overall. Don't miss today's show as we get back to racing at the 2022 Dakar Rally!

The Dakar Rally starts after the rest day. We've heard that plenty from racers, managers, and  more. And it certainly seems to be holding true in 2022's edition of the Dakar. Today on Stage five, we saw our first contender fall and abandon the race with American success story Skyler Howes headed to the hospital right after completing the stage. He reported in to the show with a decent prognosis after a massive crash: concussion, sore heel, no broken bones. But his race is over.Others crashed as well, two-time stage winner Joan Barreda crashed and injured his shoulder. After finishing, he said he'll wait until the morning to inform the organizers if his race is over. Daniel Sanders seems to have hit the deck again, as well - two days in a row for the fast Australian.Despite the carnage, an unlikely winner emerges. MotoGP veteran Danilo Petrucci, participating in his first Dakar (maybe his first rally) took the stage win after Toby Price was docked with a six-minute speeding penalty. The win is a milestone as never has a MotoGP winner won a stage of Dakar.  Also, he's a true rookie, which puts him in rarified air again. In today's show we try to keep up with the changing pace of the race results, get an update from Ricky Brabec, hear from race leader Sam Sunderland, get a quote from Ross Branch and dig into what's to come. Check it out!

After a shortened stage three of the 2022 Dakar Rally the top racers reveal, quite bluntly and obviously, their strategies for the upcoming long-distance race days. We hear from stage winner Joaquim Rodriguez after his and Hero Motorsports' first stage in Dakar history, Johnny Campbell checks in with a report and we get American Mason Klein to give us his recap from the day. Racecraft is back in the mix, big time, as racers position themselves for a big time windfall during tomorrow's stage 4 - the longest special stage of the rally. Today's stage three was more of a sprint, relatively. But it was still a long day on the bike for the competitors. How is strategy playing out, well, GasGas' Daniel Sanders was fast all day, leading the time sheets at every check before deciding to stop and have a picnic... literally. Sanders was so confident in his speed today that he decided to blatantly sacrifice some minutes at the end of the stage to put him in a better position for tomorrow. Wow. Others held back, as well, although not as obviously.Hero Motorsports' Joaquim Rodriguez topped the charts today, grabbing his maiden victory and taking his Hero Motorsports team to the top for the first time, as well. American Mason Klein rode very fast, moving up through the pack to grab third on the stage, an impressive result for anyone, no matter the day at a Dakar Rally.  GasGas' Sam Sunderland, leading the race going into today but starting second on the course, finished 17th on the day but still retains the overall lead by four seconds over Monster Energy Yamaha's Adrian Van Beveren.Mathias Walkner (KTM), Skyler Howes (Husqvarna), and Daniel Sanders round out the rally top five standings after the day.Tune in and see what went down, and what the racers are in for in the days to come. This race is getting better every day.

It's Stage 2 of the 2022 Dakar Rally and the racing shakeups continue as racers work their way through a challenging navigation trend that's defining this year's edition. We chat with Sam Sunderland about navigation and course challenges and Skyler Howes calls in with a race report from the past two days. Joan Barreda takes the stage win (his 28th!) and Sam Sunderland is the race's newest leader, the second leader from the GasGas brand, with a strong performance in today's stage which was supposed to be day one of a marathon. It turns out the marathon bivouac was flooded after days of rain, so organizers moved the pits to a new location and scrapped the marathon. The race is on otherwise and what a race it's turning out to be. Big time gains were grabbed by KTM's Kevin Benavides and Toby Price today in the general standings. Also on the move was Joaquim Rodriquez on the Hero machine and Andrew Short took some time back on the Monster Energy Yamaha.  In fact, all the Monster Energy Yamaha machines of VanBeveren (2nd), Short (16th), and Branch (12th overall) are knocking on the top 15 in general classification. One of the strongest day-by-day performance so far in this young race is from Husqvarna Factory Racing's  Skyler Howes as he once again maintained an incredibly consistent pace finishing in the top five today, avoiding errors and looking solid.American Ricky Brabec made up some time from a tough day yesterday, but not as much as his fellow competitors. This race is just getting started with 10 more days of gnarly racing to come!

Ricky Brabec should need little introduction to American race fans. As the first American to win the notoriously brutal Dakar Rally, Brabec put his Monster Energy Honda Rally bike on the top of the most elusive step in motorcycle sport - an accomplishment that is hard to describe in scale or challenge. Americans have tried to win this race, and a few have even landed on the overall podium, but the challenges the Dakar Rally serves up simply kept Americans from winning until Brabec and Honda made it happen in early 2020.It certainly wasn't an easy road to get there. In fact, Brabec DNF'd  three years in a row after finishing 9th overall his first attempt in 2016. That's a DNF in 2017, 2018, and while leading the rally in 2019. So, 2020's win was certainly sweet and, from Brabec's standpoint, almost easy in comparison.Brabec himself is the first to admit that the complexities of Dakar make the race a crazy, crazy place. And that a lot of luck goes into being first. But, as we learned in our interview, Brabec and the rest of the American rally racers are working harder than ever to start their own winning legacy. So, how did he win and how is he going to win again? It turns out it has a lot to do with feeling at home in the desert and reading the terrain faster than the others. Oh, and he's probably training harder than anyone else. Brabec brings his honest and refreshingly blunt opinions and insight to this interview covering topics from training with Jimmy Lewis, building and riding roadbooks with Andrew Short, having Johnny Campbell, Kendall Norman, and Eric Siraton in his corner and more. And if you want some real insight into Dakar's new tire rules, slower navigation, roadbook handouts in the morning, and more, Brabec tells it to us straight including his thoughts on the in-team dynamics and "teamwork", or lack thereof, inside the pits. Settle in and enjoy this long talk with a living legend of American motorcycle racing. Plus, he tells us what it's like to have an airbag vest go off when he went over the bars at Glamis!

We also heard how 3d printing changed the process of designing you own game and about testing the gameplay at the giant gaming conference called Gamecon. Rally On will launch through Kickstarter to fund the initial production. Show #654   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Wednesday 27th November 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   Welcome to a new Patreon Producer! That’s you CURTIS HIBBERT!   Good luck for Thursday's Thanksgiving Carmageddon!   2021 FORD MUSTANG MACH-E FIRST EDITION IS SOLD OUT IN U.S. "Motorists in the market for a Ford Mustang Mach-E are down to four variants. The First Edition model positioned near the top of the trim hierarchy is sold out on the American market." reports Autoblog today: "Ford opened Mach-E reservations shortly after unveiling the model on Nov. 17, and America's entire allocation of First Edition models was spoken for in nine days. Sold out is a little bit of a vague term, because the firm hasn't revealed how many units of the First Edition it plans to make or how long it will be in production. First-in-liners in other countries still have time to secure one of the First Edition models. The trim level remains available in France, in the United Kingdom, and in Germany, among other countries."   https://www.autoblog.com/2019/11/27/ford-mustang-mach-e-first-edition-sold-out   FORD TARGETS EUROPE’S ELECTRIC MARKET "According to insider information, Ford wants to sell 60 per cent of the electric SUV Mustang Mach-E produced in the first year in the EU. Of course, the reason for this is the local fleet limits that Ford wants to meet with the sale of electric cars." says Chris Randall for electrive: "30,000 vehicles would be delivered to the EU and around 20,000 cars would remain in the USA with the 60 per cent share mentioned above. However, there is no confirmation from the manufacturer for these figures. It is also unclear how the vehicles will be allocated to the individual markets. While Ford is based in the US, which would ease delivery logistics, the EU’s more strict environmental regulations are seemingly pushing Ford to prioritise the European market."   https://www.electrive.com/2019/11/27/ford-takes-aim-for-europes-electric-market/   VOLKSWAGEN'S AUDI TO CUT ONE IN TEN JOBS TO FUND SHIFT TO ELECTRIC VEHICLES "Volkswagen’s (VOWG_p.DE) luxury car unit Audi (NSUG.DE) on Tuesday said it would cut one in ten jobs, freeing up billions of euros to fund its shift towards electric vehicle production." according to a Reuters report out today: "Audi said it would cut up to 9,500 jobs, or 10.6% of its total staff by 2025, saving 6 billion euros (£5 billion), but also create up to 2,000 new positions in the areas of electric mobility and digitalisation. The group said the cuts, which would also include management positions, would take place along the demographic curve through employee turnover and early retirement programmes and help it reach a profit margin of 9-11%. Audi said a fund would be set up at the Neckarsulm site to fund the shift towards electric vehicles and would be worth 300 million euros by 2025."   https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-volkswagen-audi-costs/volkswagens-audi-to-cut-one-in-ten-jobs-to-fund-shift-to-electric-vehicles-idUKKBN1Y019F   BMW TO CUT STAFF BONUSES "BMW AG will reduce bonus payments for employees in Germany as the luxury-car maker grapples with the costly shift to electric and self-driving vehicles." says Bloomberg today: "BMW’s bonus cuts and other measures are part of a broader push to save more than 12 billion euros ($13 billion) and free up funds for developing new technology. Stricter emissions regulations are all but impossible to meet without sizable sales of electric vehicles"   https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-11-27/bmw-s-electric-car-savings-push-to-lower-staff-bonuses   MERCEDES-BENZ LAUNCHES “ENJOY ELECTRIC.” CAMPAIGN FOR THE EQC SUV November sees the start of the advertising campaign “Enjoy Electric.” for the market launch of the Mercedes-Benz EQC with various moving image formats and a major print and online communication initiative. The videos describe the EQC with its characteristic Mercedes-Benz qualities such as quality, safety and comfort. This is expressed by the campaign film with The Weeknd as the main protagonist.   BMW AND VW AIM FOR CLOSE CONTROL OVER BATTERIES, DON’T WANT TO MAKE THEM "Like nearly all global automakers, BMW has decided it doesn’t want to manufacture battery cells. How does it maintain an edge on the battery side—and characteristics that are a good match for the automaker—when it’s potentially using what look like the same “commodity cells” as other automakers?" asks Green Car Reports: “The answer to this is by being very active (and proactive) in what it wants and needs—with the newly opened Battery Competence Center, in Munich, a facility that it’s invested more than $220 million ($200 million euros) into over four years. In it, up to 200 “smart scientists” work on cell chemistry, with collaboration between BMW and the supplier companies. And it allows BMW to have control over the whole process. The fifth-generation scalable electric toolkit is being launched as a whole with the upcoming iX3 and the iNext, both due to arrive by 2021.Through the center, it can test out entirely different cell types. BMW doesn’t see solid state becoming common until the 2030s, though, and it sees its integration into cells and modules as barriers as well as the setting (and meeting) of safety standards for them. "   https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1126210_bmw-and-vw-aim-for-close-control-over-batteries-don-t-want-to-make-them   ADAC OPEL E-RALLY CUP PRESENTED AT ESSEN MOTOR SHOW  Preparations for the world's first electric one-make rally cup are in full swing. The ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup and the Opel Corsa-e Rally car will be presented to sports enthusiasts at the Essen Motor Show from November 29 to December 8 (ADAC stand, Hall 3). At the same time, two purely battery-electric Opel Corsa-e Rally cars will complete an extensive development programme. The 136hp electric cars are currently undergoing endurance and component testing at the Test Center in Dudenhofen.   OVER A QUARTER MILLION EVS IN INDIA HAVE RECEIVED SUBSIDIES "The Indian government has reported the number of electric vehicles that have benefited under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles in India (FAME) program. The program had been launched as part of the National Electricity Mobility Mission Plan to boost adoption of EVs in the country." says CleanTechnica: "According to the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, around 285,000 electric vehicles have so far been issued a total of $50 million in subsidies. A large number of models across two, three, and four-wheel options are listed as eligible to receive subsidies. The subsidies are available not only to pure EVs but also to hybrid cars."   https://cleantechnica.com/2019/11/26/over-a-quarter-million-evs-in-india-have-received-subsidies-reports-indian-government/   AUDI UK LAUNCHES NEW WHATSAPP-BASED SERVICE FOR EV OWNERS "Audi is making EV ownership easier with a new service for buyers of its new e-tron electric vehicle range." says Motor1.com: "The e-tron Concierge Service is a new 'premium communication tool' based on WhatsApp which allows customers to ask questions and get a response from EV experts in a matter of minutes between 8am and 9pm, seven days a week. Photos, videos, and voice recordings can also be added to messages. The service has already been in operation since September for those that have placed an order for an Audi e-tron. Those signed up to the service will get an email inviting them to start a chat with an expert on it. The e-tron Concierge Service has already proved to be popular with customers, with questions regarding access to charging points, accessory and winter tyre availability already being asked."   https://uk.motor1.com/news/384324/audi-e-tron-concierge/     QUESTION OF THE WEEK The MYEV.com Question Of The Week…   "The controversial, and botched, Cybertruck launch is now the most-Googled search term in the companies history. But did it help or hinder the wider movement to EVs?”   I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the 249 patrons of this podcast whose generosity means I get to keep making this show, which aims to entertain and inform thousands of listeners every day about a brighter future. Okay. Here we go. Focus. Speed. SaaS is Racing. I remember a couple of years ago I watched “Cars” the movie with my two boys. What struck me most about the story was that the main character, Lightning McQueen, didn’t learn to be the best on the race track; he learned it on the training dirt track. So today’s update comes from the DirtFish Rally School just outside of Seattle. The more time I spent here hucking, hoping and trying to keep my momentum…  the more I saw there are so many lessons from racing that apply to entrepreneurship as well. In this week’s video, I share with you the 8 racing lessons that can help your business grow. Here’s a summary of the key lessons to help you ramp up your growth and keep your eyes on the prize 1. In like a lamb, out like a lion 2. Sacrifice speed for stability 3. Model then modify 4. Don’t commit to chaos, lift to vision 5. Adapt for success 6. Be patient, set it and wait 7. You can’t look ahead if you’re patting yourself on the back 8. You gotta be chill to kill Something I learned on the dirt track is, when you’re attacking a turn it’s better to get rid of some speed and come in slower.  Then, once you get lined up for your exit, you can POWER ON like a rocket. Same thing goes in business. When a big opportunity comes up, you should start slow… prepare… assess… align… and when you know it’s going to be a big win then you can go all in. I learned this from Jim Collins (author of Good to Great). In his book he talks about firing bullets, then cannonballs. Before investing resources and effort in an opportunity, make sure you test it on a smaller scale… once you prepare and align, ATTACK LIKE A LION. Check out the full ep here, and then drop me a comment letting me know any other similarities you can find between racing and entrepreneurship. It’s AMAZING how universal and cross-function strategies are, don’t you think? -- Dan Martell has advised more startups than his hometown has people and teaches startup founders like you how to scale. He previously created, raised venture funding for and successfully exited two tech startups: Flowtown and Clarity.fm.
