Este tema me toca la fibra sensible porque afecta directamente al derecho a la movilidad de los más jóvenes y de las rentas más bajas. ¿Has intentado comprar un coche pequeño y económico últimamente? Es imposible. El Segmento A ha muerto. Modelos honestos y racionales como el Seat Mii, el Ford Ka o el Citroën C1 han pasado a mejor vida, y no por falta de clientes, sino por un "suicidio financiero" provocado por la normativa. El "impuesto" de la seguridad obligatoria Desde 2024, con implementación total en este 2026, la Unión Europea exige que todos los vehículos nuevos incorporen sistemas ADAS (seguridad activa). Hablamos de frenada de emergencia, asistente de carril, detector de fatiga y la famosa caja negra (EDR). Técnicamente, instalar estos sensores en un coche de 100.000 euros es insignificante, pero en un utilitario diseñado para costar 10.000 euros, supone un sobrecoste directo de unos 2.000 euros. Rediseñar el cableado y el salpicadero de un coche diminuto para que todo quepa dispara los costes de ingeniería. El fabricante se queda sin opciones: o vende el coche a 17.000 euros (y nadie lo compra) o deja de fabricarlo. La estocada final: La Normativa Euro 7 Si la seguridad hirió al segmento, la Euro 7 le ha dado la estocada. Para que un motor de 1.0 litro cumpla con los límites de óxidos de nitrógeno y partículas en condiciones reales de conducción, necesita un sistema de escape extremadamente complejo. Catalizadores de tres vías avanzados y filtros de partículas de última generación añaden otros 1.200 euros de coste mínimo por motor. La física y la química no entienden de presupuestos ajustados; limpiar los gases requiere metales preciosos y tecnología cara. El refugio de los SUV y la rentabilidad Las marcas han descubierto que es mucho más rentable vender un B-SUV que un utilitario tradicional. Mientras que en un coche de 12.000 euros el beneficio neto podía ser de apenas 500 euros, en un SUV basado en la misma plataforma el margen salta a los 3.000 o 4.000 euros. El valor percibido por el cliente es mayor, aunque la tecnología interna sea casi idéntica. Estamos pasando de una industria que buscaba motorizar a las masas a una que busca maximizar el beneficio por unidad. La falsa promesa del coche eléctrico Muchos dicen que el eléctrico salvará el segmento, pero la realidad industrial de 2026 dice lo contrario. Una batería con autonomía digna cuesta hoy cerca de 6.000 euros. Si solo la batería representa el 40% del coste total, es imposible fabricar coches eléctricos de 10.000 euros. El coche eléctrico pequeño se está convirtiendo en un segundo o tercer coche para familias de alto poder adquisitivo, no en una solución para el ciudadano medio. Consecuencias: Un parque móvil envejecido Al encarecer artificialmente los coches pequeños, estamos consiguiendo el efecto contrario al deseado. Como la gente no puede pagar un coche nuevo, mantiene su vehículo de 15 o 20 años. Estamos envejeciendo el parque móvil y, por tanto, contaminando más. Es la paradoja de la movilidad moderna: hemos legislado contra la sencillez y, al final, hemos expulsado a la población de la movilidad privada nueva. En el video de hoy recordamos clásicos como el Fiat Panda de segunda generación, el ejemplo perfecto de lo que hemos perdido: un coche indestructible, lógico y barato que hoy sería ilegal fabricar. Der Olympia-Winter nimmt jetzt so richtig Fahrt auf, und in der Jahresauftakt-Folge des Dreierbobs ist das nicht nur ein sprachliches Bild. Zu Gast diesmal: Michael Rösch, Biathlon-Olympiasieger 2006, TV-Experte bei Eurosport - und mittlerweile auch bekannt geworden mit ausgefallenen Ideen. Zum 20. Mal jährt sich in diesem Februar sein größter sportlicher Erfolg, und wieder finden die Olympischen Winterspiele in Italien statt. Das sind die Eckpfeiler von Röschs neuestem Projekt. Mit einem Fiat Panda, seit Kindertagen sein Lieblingsauto, will er sich auf den Weg zu Olympia machen, um als TV-Experte im Einsatz zu sein - und um auf dem Weg dorthin Spenden einzusammeln. 44 Sportlerinnen und Sportlern mit geistiger Behinderung sowie zwölf Begleitpersonen ohne Behinderung soll damit die Teilnahme an den Special Olympics im Juni in Saarbrücken ermöglicht werden. „Es war eigentlich eine Schnapsidee, als es um das Jubiläum meines Olympiasiegs ging – und nun ist dieses große Projekt daraus geworden“, sagt Rösch, der seit vielen Jahren in Dresden lebt und die Aktion mit der Lebenshilfe Dresden sowie der Stiftung Lichtblick umsetzt. Der Clou: Jeder Spender, der ihm zudem ein Foto zuschickt, ist dann auch bei Olympia mit dabei. Denn Rösch lässt die Bilder auf den Fiat drucken. Die Aktion mit den Fotos läuft bis zum 26. Januar (gespendet werden kann noch länger), dann wird der Oldtimer startklar gemacht. Und am 2. Februar fährt der 42-Jährige los ins 800 Kilometer entfernte Antholz, wo die olympischen Biathlon-Wettbewerbe ausgetragen werden. Die Dreierbob-Hosts Tino Meyer und Fabian Deicke haben direkt während der Podcast-Aufnahme ihre Spende inklusive Foto abgeschickt. Wer das auch machen will: Hier geht es zur Aktion auf der Plattform „Gofundme“ Und natürlich blickt Rösch im Podcast auch aus sportlicher Sicht auf den Saisonhöhepunkt, spricht über Ambitionen und Aussichten der deutschen Athletinnen und Athleten und insbesondere auch von Justus Strelow, Sachsens besten Biathleten. Herausfordernd für ihn wie alle anderen: Die Sportstätten von Antholz liegen auf etwa 1600 Meter Höhe, was eine besondere Vorbereitung verlangt. Auf die Frage, ob drei Biathlon-Medaillen fürs deutsche Team bei Olympia realistisch sind, muss Rösch nicht lange überlegen. „Es können auch viel mehr werden“, meint er, wohlwissend dass gerade beim Saisonhöhepunkt mit den fünf Ringen vieles zusammenpassen muss. So wie vor 20 Jahren, als Rösch als zweiter Starter mit zwei Schnellfeuereinlagen am Schießstand die deutsche Mannschaft auf Goldkurs brachte. Auch davon erzählt er im Dreierbob, und er verrät seine Vorsätze fürs neue Jahr.

Det er sjældent, man henter en fabriksny bil, som allerede føles gammel. Men præcis dét er sket for hundredvis af danske ejere efter helt nye elbiler får markante forbedringer. Polestar har opgraderet sin store SUV så markant, at den nærmest er blevet en ny model. Volvo følger samme strategi med EX90, og kinesiske Xpeng er klar med tilsvarende teknologiske spring. Lynhurtig opladning, længere rækkevidde og markant flere kræfter betyder, at udviklingen går så hurtigt, at biler, der stod i forretningen i går, i dag kan virke forældede. For de kunder, der allerede har betalt mange penge for de første udgaver, er det en bitter erkendelse. Måske er det i fremtiden vilkåret, at en elbil kan blive teknisk forældet på bare få måneder. FOLLOW UP: JLR WOES STILL CONTINUE BUT SOME PROGRESSWhilst JLR is still battling against the hack that caused them to shut all their systems down on the 2 September, there is some positive progress. The company has started a phased process of turning back on some systems and they expect to begin limited car production later this week. On top of that, the Government has guaranteed 80% of a loan the company is seeking to take out to help cover the costs resulting from the shutdown. VW GROUP PAUSING EV PRODUCTIONDue to a lower demand than anticipated, the Volkswagen Group is pausing EV production in several factories. The factories in Zwickau and Emden in Germany, as well as Tennessee in the US, will pause production of various electric models in the coming weeks. STELLANTIS PAUSING PRODUCTION ACROSS EUROPEStellantis is another company that is pausing their car production facilities due to cost savings, lacklustre sales figures and the impact of the tariffs. Italian Designer Andrea Marazzi recently chopped up a 1993 Fiat Panda to create the world's narrowest EV, a historic feat that yielded a fully-drivable car that's only 50 cm (less than 20 inches) wide. Marazzi started with the chassis of an old Fiat Panda, cutting it vertically, and sandwiching the parts together to make a single seat EV from recycled components. Marazzi used his family's auto recycling business and workshop to make about 99 percent of the car from original parts.

George and Queen were raising the (non roof) of Wem-ber-lee, Ace of Base were confusing us all about wanting babies (possibly), Gabrielle was setting chart records and certainly not mentioning fast cars and Freddie Mercury was rewizzled and jigging away. And outwith these HUGE No1s we had Tina Turner getting a leg up from Lulu, Sade not getting a leg up from Lulu, Louche Lou and Michie One channeling Lulu. Yes, the variety was indeed...(enough! Ed)(Turns page)Big IMPORTANT 90s acts such as REM (stuck in traffic), New Order (stuck in Baywatch), Duran Duran (stuck in, well, being bloody brilliant).Big DANCE choons from Sybil, Robin S (not that one) and 2 Unlimited (diminishing returns ahoy!) were keeping the frugging youngsters (and those on revolving dancefloors on boats!) moving.
