Det er sjældent, man henter en fabriksny bil, som allerede føles gammel. Men præcis dét er sket for hundredvis af danske ejere efter helt nye elbiler får markante forbedringer. Polestar har opgraderet sin store SUV så markant, at den nærmest er blevet en ny model. Volvo følger samme strategi med EX90, og kinesiske Xpeng er klar med tilsvarende teknologiske spring. Lynhurtig opladning, længere rækkevidde og markant flere kræfter betyder, at udviklingen går så hurtigt, at biler, der stod i forretningen i går, i dag kan virke forældede. For de kunder, der allerede har betalt mange penge for de første udgaver, er det en bitter erkendelse. Måske er det i fremtiden vilkåret, at en elbil kan blive teknisk forældet på bare få måneder. FOLLOW UP: JLR WOES STILL CONTINUE BUT SOME PROGRESSWhilst JLR is still battling against the hack that caused them to shut all their systems down on the 2 September, there is some positive progress. The company has started a phased process of turning back on some systems and they expect to begin limited car production later this week. On top of that, the Government has guaranteed 80% of a loan the company is seeking to take out to help cover the costs resulting from the shutdown. VW GROUP PAUSING EV PRODUCTIONDue to a lower demand than anticipated, the Volkswagen Group is pausing EV production in several factories. The factories in Zwickau and Emden in Germany, as well as Tennessee in the US, will pause production of various electric models in the coming weeks. STELLANTIS PAUSING PRODUCTION ACROSS EUROPEStellantis is another company that is pausing their car production facilities due to cost savings, lacklustre sales figures and the impact of the tariffs. Pomigliano factory, in Italy, is currently not making the Fiat Panda and Alfar Romeo Tonale. The Poissy site, in France, will pause production for the middle of October. Un 28enne marocchino, residente a Montecchio, è stato fermato ieri dopo un prolungato inseguimento da parte di una pattuglia di polizia locale dei Castelli, avviato ad Alte Ceccato e concluso ad Altavilla. Nelle spericolate manovre di sorpasso, la Fiat Panda ha urtato un autocarro e lo straniero ha tentato la fuga a piedi, ma è stato acciuffato. Per lui 9 mila euro di sanzione.

Italian Designer Andrea Marazzi recently chopped up a 1993 Fiat Panda to create the world's narrowest EV, a historic feat that yielded a fully-drivable car that's only 50 cm (less than 20 inches) wide. Marazzi started with the chassis of an old Fiat Panda, cutting it vertically, and sandwiching the parts together to make a single seat EV from recycled components. Marazzi used his family's auto recycling business and workshop to make about 99 percent of the car from original parts.

L'incidente è avvenuto oggi,  giovedì 19 dicembre, poco dopo le 14, lungo la Strada Provinciale 8 in via Monticelli. La squadra dei vigili del fuoco arrivata da Lonigo, ha messo in sicurezza i mezzi ed estratto da una Fiat Panda e da una Volkswagen Tiguan le due conducenti, rimaste entrambe incastrate al posto guida. Ferito anche il passeggero della Panda.

The Fiat Panda is the Italian poster child for "cheap and cheerful." Known to be aggressively simple to manufacture, run, and maintain, it is as much the car of Italy as the 500. But is it any good? And will Steve's dog fit in the back? We get into all that and more this week, without somehow talking about the Porsche Panamera again...

Los Fiat/Seat Panda y el Seat Marbella están de moda. Son coches muy conocidos por todos los aficionados… o eso creía yo. De los Seat Panda y Marbella y sobre todo de los Fiat Panda, hay mucho, pero mucho que contar… no hay que dar nada por sabido. Realmente los Seat Panda de la primera generación, reconvertidos luego a Marbella, no tienen muchos secretos, pues es un coche sencillo, yo diría que simple, pero que en España no evolucionó mucho, más allá de cambiar su estética para diferenciarlo del Panda. No es el caso del Fiat Panda, del que hay segunda generación, pero que en la primera si evolucionó y mucho con los modernos motores FIRE, una suspensión trasera mucho más sofisticada e incluso con la exitosa versión 4x4. A finales de los 70, Fiat buscaba un coche barato para situar en su gama por encima del 126, sucesor del 500 y eminentemente urbano por tamaño y prestaciones, y por debajo del 127, un muy buen coche, pero ya con una imagen ya algo “gastada”. Era un reto difícil… y decidieron contratar al mejor: Giorgetto Giugaro. Y Giugaro lo consiguió a base de imaginación: Estética atractiva, salpicadero muy útil y sencillo, asientos que se podían lavar y convertir en cama y una parte trasera muy practica y plana que el 127 no tenía… El Fiat panda nació con dos motorizaciones: Un dos cilindros de 650 cm3 y refrigeración por aire derivado del Fiat 126 y un 4 cilindros de 903 cm3, árbol de levas lateral y refrigeración líquida, el mismo que el 127. En España, ya sea como Panda o como Marbella, solo se usó el motor de 4 cilindros, en versiones muy minoritarias se llegó a utilizar con 843 cm3, pero nunca con más de los 903 cm3. Pero en Fiat sí, porque con en 1984 llega moderno motor FIRE, acrónimo de Fully Integrated Robotised Engine, por eso se dice FIRE, porque no es “fuego” en inglés. Con este motor, muy moderno, con árbol de levas en cabeza, se abren las puertas a usar motores de mayor cilindrada, porque este bloque motor permitía llegar hasta 1.300 cm3, aunque en el Fiat Panda, al menos que yo sepa, la más que se utilizó en los tracción delantera fue el 1.100 i.e. que con inyección electrónica y 55 CV era un verdadero tiro. Por haber, hubo incluso una versión diésel de 1.3 litros y 37 CV y, ¡aunque no lo creáis! En 1990 apareció un Panda eléctrico, el Elettra, de solo 19 CV y un precio que triplicaba al del Panda de gasolina… Pero no nos podemos olvidar de las versiones 4x4… Ya sabéis que Seat “regañó” con Fiat. Yo lo contamos en dos vídeos, en uno contamos la verdad, se titula “Cuando Seat cambió de Fiat a VW” y en otros la mentira, “Seat pierde el juicio contra Fiat”… la mentira no porque seamos mentirosos, sino porque es un vídeo de lo que llamamos “Historia ficción” donde contamos que hubiese pasado si Seat hubiese perdido en ese litigio… Lo cierto es que ganó, pero se vio obligada a que sus modelos, aún con base mecánica Fiat, no pareciesen Fiat. Y entonces se diseñó el Marbella. En junio de 1983 aparece en Fiat Panda 4x4… estoy totalmente convencido de que ni Fiat ni nadie esperaba el éxito que tuvo esta versión. Una versión a la que Fiat recurrió para este sistema de tracción a los mejores del momento: Los austríacos de Steyr-Puch. Lo cierto es que estaba muy bien hecho. Todo el sistema de transmisión, embrague, cambio, árbol de transmisión y eje trasero, con diferencial viscoso y frenos incluidos, se fabricaba en la planta austriaca y se enviaba a la fábrica de Termini, donde se instalaba en el Panda. Pero este Panda 4x4, sin diferencial central con autoblocante trasero y un peso inferior a los 1.000 kg era, sencillamente, imbatible en la nieve. Y es que si sumamos las versiones especiales sumadas de los Fiat-Seat Panda y de los Seat Marbella… necesitaríamos no un vídeo más, sino probablemente dos. En España hubo cerca de 20 y por citar solo algunas, me acuerdo del Sprint, del Junior, del Street, del Fun con tapicería de tela vaquera o del Open Air con techo parcialmente de lona. Del Fiat hubo incluso más, pero sobre todo no eran simples versiones de marketing, sino que tenían más enjundia. Ya hemos citado el Elettra y el 4x4, pero hubo incluso una versión de cambio continuo CVT, como el de un scooter, realizado con la colaboración de los holandeses de Van Doorne Transmissie. Y es que es un coche agradecido. El Panda fue un coche de éxito durante su juventud. Lugo paso el obligado “purgatorio” que pasan, durante más o menos tiempo, todos los coches, y ahora vuelve a estar de moda. Y mi opinión es que lo seguirá estando por los siglos de los siglos… y para acabar, me voy a mojar… ¡es mucho más bonito el Panda que el Marbella! Sobre todo, los primeros. Lo siento, pero es que Giugaro… ¡es mucho Giugaro!
