Guest co-host: Maura Carabello KSL NewsRadio Reporter Don Brinkerhoff recently spoke to Washington County Clerk Ryan Sullivan about mail-in voting in Washington County. After former CD2 candidate Colby Johnson claimed that mail sent to Las Vegas was postmarked as late and wrongly counted, Sullivan conducted experiments in the timeliness of mail delivery to Las Vegas and back. His results showed that the postmark in Vegas was not reason for major concern. Maura and Dave listen in on some of Brinkerhoff's and Sullivan's interview, and discuss the question "Have we overcomplicated voting?"

They discuss the use of computer models and data analysis in understanding glacier behavior and predicting sea level rise, and a lot of other fascinating topics.Andy grew up in the Swiss Alps, and studied Earth Sciences, with a focus on atmospheric and climate science and glaciology. After his PhD, Andy moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, and became involved with the Parallel Ice Sheet Model, the first open-source and openly-developed ice sheet model. His first PhD student was no other than… Doug Brinkerhoff! Doug did an MS in computer science at the University of Montana, focusing on numerical methods for ice sheet modeling, and then moved to Fairbanks to complete his PhD. While in Fairbanks, he became an ardent Bayesian after “seeing that uncertainty needs to be embraced rather than ignored”. Listen to this podcast, then listen to it again to digest all the wisdom of my guest, Stephanie Brinkerhoff, as we discuss the difficult road to empowerment as an Ex-Mormon. It's time we get to the heart of the process. From leaving a church that took away her autonomy and intuition, and how psychedelics helped her break free, my guest Stephanie discusses associations of safety with following the rules of the Mormon Church. She believed she would feel safe if she ticked off the boxes and followed the teachings. However, after leaving the church and deconstructing her beliefs, she realized that true safety is an internal state of being, a cultivated inner state. A safety that comes from within and involves connecting with oneself, cultivating inner peace, and trusting in one's own intuition. With real examples,I hope this episode is useful for everyone still trying to find their power as we answer questions from viewers! And please leave all your experiences with empowerment in the comments! For more of Stephanie's goodness, follow her on Instagram at: https://www.instagram.com/stephanieannagain/ Listen to Stephanie's Mormon Stories interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1JB-albFoU Don't miss this amazing discussion with Doug, Mike, and Stephanie at Mormon on Mushroom's podcast: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2KUTQwWlB4DiWfkk9V1mwK

One perennial problem for market farmers is how to make local food and flowers available to customers every day, without having to spend seven days a week standing behind a table or giving up most of the value to a wholesaler. The farm stop is the most innovative answer to this problem we've heard of in years, and Kathy Sample & Bill Brinkerhoff of Argus Farm Stop are on the pod this week to tell us about it.Billed as a “year-round, everyday farmers market,” it isn't a replacement for farmers markets, but a complement to them. In fact, many farmers make deliveries to the farm stop on and between market days. The Argus Farm Stop is a local food grocery store, stocked with products from over 200 farms and producers, where farmers own the produce, set the prices, and keep 70% of the sale, and customers know who grew the food and flowers. Hear how the model works, where they got the idea, how they minimize waste, how they work with farmers, and more on this week's Growing for Market Podcast. In this episode, Teemu Lilja and Fredrik Peterson Herfindal speak about their pivot to a performance-oriented approach at their organisation, the Swedish company Telia, and how this has led to both incredible business impact and recognition by their colleagues and the industry. Theirs is an inspiring story that started by listening to podcast conversations just like this... KEY TAKEAWAYS You have to measure the impact training is having on the company to demonstrate that it has positive business outcomes. If it is not producing that, there is little point in doing it. Taking this approach also secures the future of your department. Steer things in the right direction from the first planning conversation you have. Using The Programme Performance Path from Brinkerhoff is a good way to ensure you do this. In the episode, Teemu explains how he does this. When designing training it is essential that you use the people who actually do the job to show and explain the workflows to you. As well as share what they need to get from the training. Tap into their expertise to tweak things, but don´t forget to speak to low performers too so you can include what not to do in your training. Create a user story and make sure everyone can respond appropriately regardless of what the customer does. In the episode, Teemu shares, in detail, how they did this to double the sales of their streaming services. An example anyone, regardless of industry, can use to create laser-focused and effective training. BEST MOMENTS 'I was oriented to performance from day one. ' 'Evaluate the outputs you produce, the business outcomes.' 'By involving people in our analysis, we create ambassadors and champions for further initiatives. ' 'Knowing your competitors is a big success factor. Why are natural history collections so important? In this episode, VMNH Administrator of Science Ben Williams sits down with Dr. Jory Brinkerhoff from the University of Richmond and VMNH Curator of Mammalogy Dr. Nancy Moncrief to address that very question. Drs. Brinkerhoff and Moncrief recently collaborated on a paper about the historical prevalence of Lyme disease in Virginia, and their research was only possible thanks to some long-preserved mice in the VMNH collections. The results of their research showed a dramatic rise in Lyme disease in Virginia over the last couple of decades; be sure to listen in to hear a few theories as to why the numbers have increased.

Just go to ratethispodcast.com/openloopsMarc Brinkerhoff is an ET Contactee and Lucid Remote Viewer of his ET Family, Crew, and Spacecraft who was born FULLY AWARE of his intergalactic origins. He has memories that go beyond this lifetime. He's a "conscious walk-in." He travels out-of-body to spaceships and planets like you scroll mindlessly through Instagram. He captures photos of UFOs like you mindlessly take selfies to post on your Instagram. Marc's life is visuals that no iPhone 15 could ever capture...as he sees in at least 12 dimensions. In this series, Greg interviews Marc and his wife Phyllis to see if he can understand the higher multidimensional nature of our universe, as well as make sense of Marc's existence, a "man" who 100% lives the reality of an extraterrestrial soul inhabiting human form. This one is a mind-bender-into-breaker, and a conversation that Greg still can't explain away.
