The San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), while no longer the largest comic con, remains the harbinger of all things nerdy. This year announcements were split between long awaited projects such as, The Sandman and the Game of Thrones prequel House of Dragons, and many others we will likewise be waiting a long time to see. The Regular Joes dive into the litany of announcements, teasers and trailers. Most notably from MARVEL, which unveiled a dizzying (if incomplete) plan for the next few years, or Phases, for the MCU on the big and small screen. There's a lot to be excited for, including Daredevil Born Again! and two Avengers films in a single year! Unfortunately that year is 2025, and we will be waiting two years for Daredevil. No MARVEL announcement is complete without the prerequisite Fantastic Four name drop, again with no details. Though curiously there was no mention of Eternals. There's also Random Topics, because, at the Regular Joes Podcast the random never stops. Thanks for listening!
This week the regular Joes Barry Dave and Tod , and the Irregular Joes, Derryl and Brian get together to nominate, aggregate and calculate the definitive list of their top 100 favorite films. On any given day it’s hard getting all five of these guys to agree. But this isn’t just any day, or any episode, it also marks the eighth anniversary of the Regular Joes Podcast. So sit back, pour yourself a delicious, and possibly elaborate, beverage, and learn in real time along with the Regular Joes (expect for Tabulator in Chief Derryl) just which films make the cut. For beverage suggestions check out the Joes themed drink recipes at RegularJoes.com. And check out the first ever video version of the podcast on YouTube, search Regular Joes Podcast. Thanks for Listening!
It doesn’t take much effort to rewatch a film like Goldfinger. It shows no commitment to cue up The Rock. What takes true dedication is committing 102 extremely long minutes to a film that you know Is going to be excruciatingly bad. This week the Regular Joes pay tribute to the late Sean Connery by watching the the 1974 John Boorman sci-fi/Fantasy film Zardoz for the latest installment of Disaster-Piece Theater. And, because misery loves company, they bring long-time friends Jim Bush and Derryl DePriest along for the ride. Please Note: the Regular Joes Podcast accepts no responsibility for any lasting psychological effects suffered by listeners who choose to watch this film. There’s also the usual Random Topics and an extra large helping of What’s in The Box. Thanks for listening!
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been around almost as long as The Regular Joes Podcast. Last week, after seven wildly inconsistent seasons, the serially reanimated Agent Phil Coulson and his stalwart squad of Agents, former Agents, and not quite Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finally bid adieu. It’s been a bumpy ride. But, for those dedicated, or just stubborn, watchers who stuck it out the 12 episode 7th season provided some of the best moments the series has offered. If you haven’t watched season 7 this episode does contain some SPOILERS, but hopefully the Joes (rare) unanimous endorsement will inspire you to finish the ride. Ok, so Lower Decks, week two ... yeah, what can we say. We promise we won’t be updating you again on this until something changes. So maybe never. There’s also Random Topics and What’s in the Box, because even if you aren’t going out you can still order stuff. Thanks for listening!
For seven years Barry, Dave and Tod have been getting together, more or less, each week to record the Regular Joes Podcast. This week is whole lot like the other 337. They start with a plan, and then get somewhat sidetracked during random topics. Next they get caught up on current projects with What’s on My Workbench. Then, on Barry’s recommendation everyone checked out Amazon Prime’s Upload. Ok, so if you have been paying attention you know Barry tends to grade things on a curve. So how does this particular suggestion hold up? Lastly there a round of What’s in the Box. SPOILER Barry has a vintage Star Wars item, Dave has a Watch and Tod has a book. They never even get to one of their planned topics, but hey that’s what the next seven years are for. Thanks for listening and stay safe!
Three guys get together and talk about whatever comes to mind. Sounds like the formula for every episode of the Regular Joes Podcast, right? Believe it or not there is usually some sort of plan. In this ep there is no plan, no theme, not even any segments. We just turn the mics and record. Did it work? That’s really up to you to decide. Warning: there may be spoilers about two-year-old episodes of The Americans and Last week’s episode of Discovery. And, in a shocking turn, Tod And Dave reveal they don’t like The Last Jedi. So, yeah pretty much a normal episode. Thanks for listening!
After a troubled history of changes in direction, directors, and significant reshoots, Justice League opened last week to an underwhelming critical and audience reception. After a series of misses DC needed to prove the success of Wonder Woman was not a fluke. Did that happen? The Regular Joe’s put Justice League under the microscope examining the good, more than you might think, the bad, there’s a lot of that too, and where does this trouble franchise go from here? Also, Barry and Dave get intimate with Robbie the Robot. Henceforth, known as “the most expensive film prop ever sold at auction.” They see other stuff too. Check out the companion gallery at RegularJoes.com. All this plus What’s in the box in our Thanksgiving eve edition of The Regular Joes Podcast. Thanks for listening!
