Just what does it take to be among Entertainment Weekly's "50 Best High School Movies?" According to "Just One of The Guys," a film needs to be horny, depict decent journalism and have a jaw-dropping fight scene. Bonus points for cross-dressing. This 1985 adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" shocked Dick Ebert with its depictions of a boys locker room, delighted Gene Lyons with its outlandish characters and ventured dangerously close to cringe with a surprise James Brown reference. Chaos in Russia! Wagner's pagan neo-Nazis. Is conspirituality unique to a failing American empire in the internet age? Does it require Californian New Age spirituality, with conspiracy theories that weave around alternative medicine, for-profit pharma with no social safety net, and the reactionary politics of White Christian Nationalism? This week, Julian explores a different version of Conspirituality. Locals in Australia have taken to "speak(ing) softly and carry(ing) a big stick" and it has nothing to do with an appreciation of Teddy Roosevelt. Find out what's gotten them so jumpy. Plus which famous person went along on a UK drug raid, seemingly for the fun of it? And, would you be offended if you were asked to pay an admission fee to a wedding? And it's the time of year that kids dread and parents' rejoice: back to school. In honor of the beginning of a new year, we re-watched, "Back to School." Rodney Dangerfield does not disappoint in this 1986 film that holds up to this day. The only thing going against it? "Not enough Zabka" for Anne (as in William Zabka). The Equalizer Season 2 Episode 20: First Light Aired on CBS: May 13, 1987 Directed by: Richard Compton Written by : Jack Fogarty Featuring: William Zabka, Lori Laughlin, Robert Modica, Quentin Crisp (!), Kaiulani Lee Ladies and gentlemen, strap yourselves in. William Zabka is back as Scott McCall aka Son of the Equalizer. And with EQ out of town, Scott is trying to do some equalizing himself, namely protecting his girlfriend Lori Laughlin (!) and her boss from a man seeking vengeance for a double cross at a WWII POW camp. And that's just the tip of the iceberg for the EQ episode: EQ and Control in DC sub-sub committee meetings; Quentin Crisp as an older Liberace-type Broadway icon turned set designer for criminal's evil whims; Monuments Men-esque Nazi art thievery; Zabka's traded a violin for a guitar; so much more. And the EQ episode itself is just the tip of the iceberg for what we consider our duty to cover in this podcast episode. @equalizerspod equalizerspodcast at gmail dot com

It makes sense that “Cobra Kai” star William Zabka often uses phrases common to musicians, like “find the rhythm” and “in the pocket,” to help describe his acting process. Not only is he a musician himself, but music plays a fascinating part in his process. The phenomenal surprise success of "Cobra Kai” is due in no small part to the depth and intensity Zabka brings to the role of Johnny, which obviously has deep roots in his career. On this episode he talks about those roots, breaking down the text until it “falls into his belly,” the “rivers” that run through his characterization, the layer of secrets that “aren't intended to be discovered,” and the necessity to “cut the lines” to all those things in order to lay in the moment. Plus much more! It's a fascinating talk with an actor who is delivering a performance for the ages that has caught the attention of viewers across generations. Follow Back To One on Instagram

Tread Perilously's look at the USA Network Blue Sky dramedies continues with the Psych episode called "A Nightmare on State Street." Following his breakup, Gus's sleep habits have become erratic at best and sleep therapist Ashford N. Simpson (special guest Bruce Campbell) offers no real guidance. Instead, Gus's few moments of rest are marred by vivid nightmares of losing Shawn or finding himself in classic horror movie situations. But is all of it a dream? And will Shawn be able to clear guest star Dean Cameron of a murder involving guest star William Zabka? Also, will Tears for Fears' Curt Smith survive in one piece? Erik imagines a lost 1980s slobs-vs-snobs movie starring Cameron and Zabka. A Psych star plays Secret Mexican, although Erik totally understands why. Justin explains the actual premise of Psych, which is not just "a funny version of The Mentalist." Erik reveals the one thing he really doesn't like about Psych, which leads to a discussion of Topper Returns. Both he and Justin recall an all-day movie marathon they planned featuring Exorcist II: The Heretic. Clive Barker's Texas Barbecue & Great American Steakery becomes a new sponsor. The episode's homage to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre leads to a Tobe Hooper lovefest and Justin realizes Psych is more popular than he thought.

Zapraszam Was na odcinek specjalny podcastu z Wojciechem Koczorowskim z firmy Grzegrzółka&Ko. Dzisiaj robimy wprowadzenie do tematu trade marketingu. Na czym on polega? Sprzyja to ustabilizowaniu planów sprzedażowych. Dołącz do grupy networkingowej podcastu Marketing ludzkim głosem:https://www.facebook.com/groups/MarketingLudzkimGlosem/

Have you ever experienced one of those things that you didn't know how much you wanted it until you had it in your hands? Jake and Tom had just such an experience with the show, "Cobra Kai". Being children of the 80's & 90's, they of course grew up with the saga of Daniel Larusso, and so they were naturally a little hesitant to see the story continue after almost 30 years. As such, they brought in the friends, Peter (host of the excellent "Podstalgic") to discuss what they wanted from s show showing Johnny Lawrence's side of the story. Flash forward almost two months, and the guys reconvened to discuss what has surprisingly turned out to be one of their favorite new shows of the year. Listen in to find out what they thought of where the classic characters have wound up, what they think of the the new characters, and why Coors Banquet is such an awful beer. And for more extensive coverage of Cobra Kai, head over & listen to TV Ate My Brain for Peter & Tom's in depth analysis of each individual episode, interviews with members of the show's cast, and much more! And, as always, be sure to help Jake and Tom in their quest for world domination by rating them highly on iTunes, sharing their stuff on social media, and by telling your Android using friends to listen to them via the Amazing And FREE Couch Party App, available exclusively on the Google Play Store! IT in the D, Episode 63. We've been looking forward to this episode for a while now. We were joined in-studio by Mike from Motor City Drone Co...yes, a company right here in the area that makes drones, one of our favorite topics. Also joining us were Matt and Jon from RhinoCoders, a great program focused on getting children more involved and engaged with technology in the best way possible - by diving in and getting hands-on with it... Just like always, our first segment was all about some of the news and events that caught our eye this past week. Of course, we had to kick off by sending a happy birthday shout out to William Zabka, because, well, we still laugh and talk about the conversations we had with him at Motor City Comic Con. We talked about our event last week at Blackfinn, our upcoming event with Social Media Club Detroit, the November casual networking social at Stray Cat Lounge, the December event at Falling Down Beer Company, and the other events you can find out at http://www.itinthed.com/meet/. We got into the recent news that HBO and CBS are launching their own online streaming services, which seems like it's leading to the dream of unbundled content...but there's an inevitable downside. The chaos going on in a local school with teens, sexting, and pending felony charges. And so, so many more rantworthy topics... For segment two, we dove in with Mike from Motor City Drone Co. And you know how we love to talk about drones. It was really cool having someone in-studio with us who's very close to the topic and paying attention to things like pending legislation, what the market for drones is, practical applications of it for home and corporate buyers, and all sorts of other topics we've been dying to deep dive on. They're a great local company with drones ranging from a few hundred dollars all the way out to something that could, you know, hypothetically speaking, move a body if you wanted to. Not that Motor City Drone Co condones that usage. Or encourages it. But, you know, you could. Find out more about them and go shopping at http://motorcitydroneco.com/ Segment three was all about RhinoCoders. They're a group of people in the information technology industry that are trying to get kids more interested in careers in IT as they grow up. They do that by getting them in a hands-on environment teaching them HTML, CSS and Javascript in a series of classes. The computers are there. A thumb drive helps the kids bring their work home. If they miss a class, no big deal, there's a whole online syllabus of the course and work to keep them caught up. It's a pretty damned cool initiative, and it was great talking with Matt and Jon last night. Go learn more about RhinoCoders and get your kids rolling with classes starting after the holidays at http://www.rhinocoders.com/ And then, as always, segment four was all about doubling back on points we might have missed from our earlier conversations, a couple more news items that we didn't get to in the first segment and the usual wrap up stuff. And hey, one more time for good measure - hope you had a great birthday man! It's our inaugural podcast, so we celebrate by discussing the movie that had us leaving the theater practicing our Crane Technique and wondering if we'd ever get the girl. That's right, episode one is all about "The Karate Kid" starring Ralph Macchio and Noriyuki "Pat" Morita. Movie: The Karate Kid Year released: 1984 Director: John G. Avildsen Lead Actors: Ralph Macchio - Danny Larusso Noriyuki "Pat" Morita - Mr. Miyagi Elisabeth Shue - Ali Mills William Zabka - Johnny Lawrence Things of note: Even after more than 25 since the film's release, people still get the reference when you say "Wax on, wax off." Ralph Macchio was 22 years old during the filming. William Zabka directed a music video for the band, "No More Kings." The song was called "Sweep the Leg" and was written about Zabka's character in The Karate Kid. Pat Morita was a stand-up comedian early in his career. Morita's natural accent is American. He faked the Japanese one. The drunk racist on the beach who placed his beer bottles on Mr. Miyagi's truck was played by Larry Drake, best known for his role as the mentally challenged Benny in the TV series "LA Law".
