It’s been another fantastic year for Windsor’s Two Flints… Following on from the recent release of their celebrated collab Double IPA with Ghost Whale’s Ray Hadnett, the brewery has also worked with NZ Hops on their Bract Project initiative. Not only that, they’ve released one of the year’s best dark beers in Heartwood – the barrel aged evolution of their debut Imperial Stout ‘Into the Night’. So with that in mind, we’re revisiting our conversation with founder Alex Kerr from earlier this year. In this episode we speak with Alex to learn about his early influences and how he found a passion for brewing while living in Singapore. We discuss his fascination with hops and the qualities they impart on the beers they brew, the importance of Two Flints' taproom and also reflect on his desire for continuous improvement in everything that they do. “It takes two flints to make a fire” Where did the inspiration for your brewery name come from? For Alex Kerr, founder of Windsor, Berkshire-based Two Flints, he has his own story to tell. And drawing influence from the famous quote from Louisa May Alcott's coming-of-age novel Little Women was just the place to start. Opening at the end of 2022, Two Flints recently has marked its second anniversary brewing in Berkshire. A town that has been the home of Windsor and Eton Brewery for more than 10 years, Alex Kerr and his team have given beer fans another new spot for excellent beer. And soon after in 2023, they would soon be joined in Windsor by neighbours Indie Rabble, the brewery founded by Naomi and Dave Hayward. Since starting out, Two Flints has made its name with a series of excellent hop-forward, hazy pale ales and IPAs such as Santiago, Never End and Big Bash. But they also make superb lagers and other styles, too.

Rev. Cyril A. Stevens – Sermon 1046A recorded on December 15, 1985 teaching from Luke 1:33 – His Kingdom Will Never End. Pastor Cyril A. Stevens emphasizes the preciousness and uniqueness of Christ’s blood as the foundation for His kingdom that will never end, drawing upon a biological argument that the male provides the blood…
The Christmas story reveals Jesus not as a familiar holiday figure, but as the Promised King whose arrival changes everything. When the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary in the unremarkable town of Nazareth, he wasn't delivering casual news but announcing the coming of a king whose kingdom would never end. This matters profoundly because we live surrounded by temporary kingdoms—empires that crumble, leaders who disappoint, and earthly authority that ultimately fails.Gabriel's announcement to Mary reveals how God works: grace comes before calling. Mary hadn't earned this role or applied for special credentials. The angel's greeting that she was highly favored uses the same root word as grace, meaning unearned and undeserved. God doesn't scout the spiritual elite; He seeks the humble and willing. The names given to Jesus—meaning the Lord saves, Son of the Most High, and heir to David's throne—reveal His mission as both divine Savior and the fulfillment of thousands of years of God's promises. Many people treat Jesus as a helpful add-on to their already planned lives, someone to call on for comfort or guidance when needed. But the angel's announcement presents King Jesus as the rightful Lord over our hearts, schedules, relationships, and decisions. Mary's response teaches us how to live under this kingship: she asked honest questions but didn't demand complete explanations before responding. Instead, she offered simple but profound surrender, saying yes to God's will with limited information but unlimited trust. The angel's promise that no word from God will ever fail anchors our faith in impossible situations, reminding us that the same power that brought Jesus into the world can transform our circumstances today.

Andrew Lownie joins Joanna Coles with a bracing account of a royal family in complete public meltdown. Lownie, an author and British historian, lays out why Prince Andrew's downfall is no longer a contained scandal but a widening corruption crisis—one that now stretches from sex-trafficking allegations to financial misconduct, secret meetings with Bahrain, and the Queen and Prince Philip's decades-long blind spot for their “favorite” son. As King Charles battles cancer and Prince William quietly takes the reins, Joanna presses Lownie on whether Andrew will flee Britain, what Sarah Ferguson might reveal, and whether this is the most perilous moment for the monarchy since the abdication. It’s late October, and while the Cubs and Cardinals are long gone, the Team of Rivals crew is still here (for some reason). Ron, Elliott, and Pete break down a marathon World Series game that the media dubbed “the greatest ever” (SPOILER: it wasn’t), rant about Shohei Ohtani worship, and debate how much money is too much for one roster. The guys also dive into MLB expansion rumors, realignment madness, and what thee upcoming salary cap fight could look like. From there, it’s on to Bears football (and Caleb Williams' growing pains) and Ron’s Soccer Minute (featuring Liverpool’s suspicious stoppage time, and a look at Newcastle’s strong week and St. Louis City’s season finale).

Final day of Summer 2025
In a column for PJ Media, publicist and novelist Scott Pinsker wrote that there are no happy endings. As readers and listeners, we never want a good story to end. Here is what Scott wrote:One more time: There are no happy endings! After all, when a story is truly great, we don't want it to end. We need the story to go on and on forever — and for the adventures to continue. When it's finally time to say goodbye, we mourn the loss. And mourning isn't happy. But it's par for the course in storytelling; the immoveable yin to the irresistible yang. Can't have one without the other. As American genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist Tony Stark noted before his death:“Part of the journey is the end.”I remember when the hand-picked substitute author massacred the ending of The World of Time series by Robert Jordan. There were and are so many stories still to tell of that world, but the replacement author simply let the story peter away. So disappointing. But, of course, he didn't have the inspiration or vision that the original author had. He couldn't tell the stories. BUT the publisher should have found some fans that would have loved to continue those stories, to continue celebrating an incredible world populated by very interesting people. I hope there are some fans that will tell those stories. They have my permission — and encouragement — to do so.As authors, we should all have fans that are inspired to continue telling our stories — whether fiction or nonfiction.Stories are always worth continuing. They shouldn't have an end. Why not tell more of your story today? You have the time! And when your time ends, I encourage other courageous writers to continue your stories. Stories without end. Stories that live on and on. Stories that change lives. Stories that move us to greater things.Move on! This is a public episode. SEASON 3 EPISODE 147: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: We have been burying the lede here. Trump. Is. Suing. Murdoch. Trump and Murdoch are at war. Over Jeffrey Epstein. The two worst people in the country, probably the world, at each other's throats, until further notice. Weeks, months, years. Amid rumors Murdoch's people at the Wall Street Journal are upworking ANOTHER Trump-Epstein/Epstein-Trump/Trumpstein story. And that Murdoch is preparing a Defcon scenario in which he turns Fox News against Trump. Because if Trump is stupid enough to try to put Murdoch out of business, Murdoch will have no choice but to try to put Trump out of business. Trump also seems to be doing everything else he can think of to make sure the Trumpstein story never leads the headlines again. Attacks his own people again. Left a paper trail inside the DOJ and FBI of Pam Bondi searching for thousands of Trump references inside an evidence pit the size of The New York Public Library. Changing the story of the latest plot against him for the sixth time in a week. And watching the polls - 17% approve of his handling of the Epstein issue - actually get worse since just last Thursday (89% want everything, not just the almost-meaningless Grand Jury testimony, released). Oh by the way there IS a Trump Client List inside DOJ/FBI. The only part of Trump's claim that there isn't that's true, is that it may not bear that title. There's literally 40 computers, 70 CDs of video, and 300 gigabytes of data. The Trumpstein story will swamp his presidency. For sheer volume it exceeds almost everything else Trump has ever done. It makes Watergate look like the editing out of four words in a 5,000 word document. IT'S WONDERFUL. Trumpstein, Trumpstein, Trumpstein. ALSO: Trump's unpopularity has now reached 1st Term proportions. Tulsi Gabbard is conflating two Russian stories and claiming the one nobody believed (Russia tampered with voting machines) disproves the one Robert Mueller proved (Russia hacked emails and got them to Trump's campaign). How does that work? I'll explain the psychology of morons who want to please their bosses, with the story of Tennessee Ernie Williams. And if you think Trump isn't brain dead he wrote something that must've come directly from a dream about how the Cleveland Guardians (formed 1901, not named "Indians" until 1915) are one of baseball's "six original teams" (Major League Baseball started 30 years earlier; it's HOCKEY with "the original six" and that's wrong too). B-Block (39:15) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: I understand this busts the narrative and reduces our ability to suffer as martyrs, but there is one inarguable and unanswerable fact that disproves the almost-universally accepted premise that CBS cancelled Stephen Colbert solely to appease Trump. It's this: If they are silencing him, why have they decided to keep him on TV for THE NEXT TEN MONTHS? This is the Phil Donahue cancellation all over again. It works to CBS's corporate advantage to make it look like they are sucking up to the psycho. Sorry. This is the least of the reasons. C-Block (1:09:10) MONDAYS WITH THURBER: Haven't done any of his priceless stories lately, and with Trump's new permanent Trumpstein Crisis, it's fitting to do James Thurber's stunningly prophetic saga "The Greatest Man In The World."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Dr. Amy Novatt delves into the complex and often misunderstood realm of menopause hormonal therapy, previously known as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Dr. Novatt is joined by Dr. Liz Lyster, an OB-GYN and midlife health expert, to discuss the history, controversies, and current understanding surrounding hormone therapy. The conversation includes an in-depth look at the impact of the landmark 2002 Women's Health Initiative (WHI) study, which drastically changed the public perception and medical approach to HRT, and moves on to explore bio-identical hormones, safer methods of administration, and the importance of individualized treatment plans. Dr. Lyster provides expert insights into the benefits of hormone therapy, including its role in alleviating menopausal symptoms, improving bone density, and potentially lowering the risks of heart disease, dementia, and certain cancers. Both hosts emphasize the significance of personalized medical advice and the need to consider each woman's unique health profile and family history. The episode also covers practical advice on when to start hormone therapy, the importance of a baseline bone density scan at age 50, and the often misunderstood concept of 'estrogen dominance.' They encourage listeners to proactively engage with their healthcare providers and to consider hormone therapy as a viable option for improving quality of life during the menopausal transition. On a more personal note, Dr. Lyster shares her recent experiences with loss and grief. This segment underscores the broader theme of reinvention and resilience during midlife, touching on how managing one's health can help navigate the emotional and physical changes that accompany this stage of life. This week, Scott sat down with his colleagues Tyler McBrien and Roger Parloff, as well as special guest Claire Meynial, U.S. correspondent for Le Point, to talk over the week's big national security news, including:“Make Europe Aghast Again.” Vice President J.D. Vance stunned the Munich Security Conference last week with remarks that criticized European allies for suppressing far-right and anti-immigration voices while playing down threats from China and Russia. Combined with the Trump administration's past hostility to Transatlantic relationships, many are taking Vance's as a sign of a downgrade in the U.S.-Europe relationship. But is this overstating things? And how far can the Trump administration adjust the relationship on its own, even if it wanted to?“I Would Do Anything for Bove, but I Won't Do That.” (Credit to Robert Anderson, via Mike Stern.) The resignation of seven Justice Department attorneys over their refusal to move to dismiss charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams at the direction of acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove has brought national attention to the Trump administration's apparent intent to use its discretion over criminal prosecution as a policy tool to advance its immigration and potentially other agendas. But what do these recent events tell us about the potential for—and limits on—such a strategy? “Animus Instinct.” The legal challenge to President Trump's executive order banning transgender individuals from military service and halting gender-affirming care finally had a hearing in federal court this week. And in a barnburner, U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes raked the Justice Department over the coals, querying whether the ban was the result of “animus.” But how big a difference will her line of inquiry make in the end? Is there any realistic chance the courts will intervene? For object lessons, Roger recommended a visit to the Holocaust Museum as an opportunity for a sober reflection. When someone keeps hurting you, you might blame yourself and think if you were only better, they'd stop. But as their hurtful behavior continues, resentment builds and you start questioning everything about yourself.
About ten years ago, two of journalist Lissa Soep's closest friends died around the same time. In her grieving, she found consolation in the philosophy of a 20th century Russian literary theorist, Mikhail Bakhtin, and his theory of “double voicing” – the idea that our speech is “filled to overflowing with other people's words." Her friends had not disappeared, instead, they'd slipped into her own language, and that of the people around her. We talk to Soep about great friendships, the mysterious power of language to sustain conversations even with those who have died and her book, “Other People's Words." Guests: Lissa Soep, author, "Other People's Words: Friendship, Loss and the Conversations that Never End." She is also senior editor for audio at Vox Media

Well, that's a record anyway - the longest penalty shootout in English domestic football history, and of course Fulham ended up on the wrong side of it. After a frustrating 90 minutes of action against Preston North End at Deepdale, Fulham's heavily rotated XI weren't able to find a winner, and thus ensued one of the most typical stories you could imagine. We take a look back at the game as a whole, examining the performances of a number of players for better and for worse - Ryan Sessegnon, Reiss Nelson, Rodrigo Muniz, Tom Cairney, Harrison Reed, Sander Berge, Issa Diop, Jorge Cuenca and Steven Benda - before touching on the penalty shootout that dominated the headlines this morning for good measure. Then we head onwards to Newcastle at the Cottage this weekend - traditionally a game we always struggle in - and take a look at what changes Marco could make, and how we can win the individual battles against a Magpies side that haven't been playing brilliantly, but keep finding results nonetheless. There's a quick email to address leadership in this group, before we finish with a special This'll Catch On written specifically about the Drama at Deepdale last night.
