But in a way I didn't imagine at first... Writing my new book, "Reclaiming My Authentic Self: A Journey from Fear to Freedom," has been cathartic for me. Because over time, it's become a tribute to my Dad.

The members of One Direction have paid tribute to their bandmate, Liam Payne. Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles say they are "completely devastated" and "the memories we shared with him will be treasured forever". Plus, the wife of a Conservative councillor has been jailed for 31 months after calling for hotels housing asylum seekers in the UK to be set on fire. She posted the expletive-ridden message on X on the day three girls were killed in a stabbing incident in NW England. And, several UK cabinet ministers have written to the prime minister two weeks ahead of the Budget, to voice concerns over the scale of cuts their departments may face. Steep spending cuts are forecast to plug a £40bn funding gap. In what's an unusual move some ministers are “going over the head” of the chancellor, to address the prime minister directly. In classic ‘80s films like Ghostbusters and Aliens, Sigourney Weaver battled demons and beasts. But to one particular inmate on death row in Georgia, she battled those demons and beasts in real life as well. To Alexander Williams, a convicted murderer, Sigourney Weaver was a goddess – a divine being sent to this earth to do battle with evil. He worshiped her from the floor of his prison cell. And as his day of reckoning drew closer, he waited for a glimmer of hope that the goddess would intervene and change his fate. BEYOND PURPLE performs a showcase of the biggest hits from Deep Purple and Whitesnake, as well as Rainbow and Dio; all born out of the Deep Purple family tree. The band faithfully re-creates the vivid experience of live, high-energy music from what many consider to be Rock's greatest era. Beyond Purple consists of elite musicians with national ties, including guitarist Jimi Bell (Autograph, House of Lords); his amazing skills and prowess on guitar are truly world class. Mike Gill (Livesay, Johnny A.) is the lead voice of the band, with powerful soaring vocals in the style of Ian Gillan, David Coverdale, Graham Bonnet, Joe Lynn Turner, and Ronnie James Dio. His energetic stage presence brings every song to life. Drummer BJ Zampa (Dokken, House of Lords) pounds out thunderous beats with a huge groove that locks in the band on every note; he also contributes harmony vocals. Bassist Brian Camilleri rounds out the rhythm section, laying down the low-end thunder and locking in with BJ, to create a solid musical foundation. Welcome Gary Fox Jr. on keyboards and backing vocals, a long standing member of legendary Led Zeppelin tribute “Physical Graffiti”. His talent is beyond amazing.    Their high energy show fully engages the crowd, with accurate song renditions that capture the raw energy and power that has made this style of music one of the most popular of all time. For gig info clicl the link:https://www.beyondpurpleband.com/gigs

On this episode, Matt and Richard remember several pioneering female drivers from the past; each an inspiring character who competed on equal terms with their male peers and who achieved, against the odds, some incredible things.   Those discussed included Maria Theresa De Filippis (the first woman to compete in a world championship Grand Prix), Pat Moss (the talented rally driving sister of F1 star Stirling Moss), Lella Lombardi (the first woman to score an F1 point), Desire Wilson (the only woman to win an F1 race of any sort), Michele Mouton (a four-time world rally winner), Janet Guthrie (the first woman to qualify and compete in both Indy 500 and Daytona 500), and many more. And after reappraising the past, Matt and Richard bring us up to the present to look at efforts to bring more female drivers into the sport, and they also ponder the age old question of whether female racers will ever become mainstays in F1 in the future. It's the last Friday of the month as we pay tribute to a Ford leader who broke the mold. We also talk about a hot debate over legacy OEMs flirting with DTC models as well as consumer luxury purchases going on the rise. This morning we pay tribute to Don Petersen, a transformative leader who guided Ford through a critical phase in the 1980s.Petersen, who passed away at 97 on Wednesday was at his home near Detroit in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., his niece Laura Peterson told Automotive News in an email., was celebrated for prioritizing quality and innovation, dramatically boosting Ford's market share and profitability.Under his leadership, Ford introduced influential designs like the aerodynamic Taurus and Mercury Sable, shifting industry standards towards more customer-focused products. He was known for fostering a collaborative workplace, which contrasted sharply with the autocratic styles of previous Ford executives. But at times was also said to have had some passionate outbursts. Petersen also spearheaded strategic acquisitions, notably purchasing a controlling stake in Hertz and increasing Ford's investment in Mazda, which significantly expanded Ford's global footprint and technological capabilities."He insisted on teamwork and excellence in the name of customers and guided Ford through a period of revitalization," stated Ford Motor Co.A recent Automotive News editorial is highliging a hot topic we'll be discussing with the President's of NADA and several State ATA's on the main stage at ASOTU CON. Dealer associations are lobbying against direct sales models for new brands like VW Group's Scout and Honda's Afeela, pushing for adherence to traditional franchise systems amidst a slowdown in EV market growth.Tensions rise as dealers threaten to withhold service and parts for brands pursuing direct sales, fearing the impacts on their business model and the established relationships with legacy automakers. The advertisement by state dealer associations in Automotive News underscores a significant industry rift, as they urge legacy automakers to reconsider direct sales strategies that could bypass traditional dealerships."We believe there is a difference between a brand recently born and one seeded, nourished and grown under the protective arm of a legacy automaker," emphasizes the importance of maintaining traditional retail models for established brands.Despite economic inflation, the U.S. luxury goods market has seen a substantial 86% increase in purchase intent from 2021 to 2024, according to YouGov's latest survey. The survey reveals that 26% of respondents are likely to buy luxury items within the next year, a significant rise from 14% three years prior.Notably, 15% of Americans have actually purchased luxury goods over the past year, marking a 9% increase since 2021, with shoes, accessories, and beauty products leading the purchase categories.Shoppers between 35-44 were willing to shell out over $1,000 on their coveted purchases.Hosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email
