It is the final (official) show on the Blind Guy Talks Tech feed and the entire gang get together to share their thoughts on the show, and as usual, everything else! A message from Blind Guy Steven Scott: "It's been an absolute blast doing this podcast for the last year and I want to personally thank you for making it the huge success it has been. Without your emails, your contributions and your commitment to the cause this would never have been possible. And all of that proved to me it was possible to do a daily technology show on the radio which is why I was so pleased and honoured when AMI-audio asked us to do this. I love doing this show, a show that started off as an idea that led to me being laughed out of the office and told that such a show concept would never catch on. At RNIB it became the most listened to show and most commented on, and at AMI Double Tap became so popular it spawned a TV show. Now the radio show goes daily, proving the hunger for not just the information, but the entertainment and joy that I hope we bring to you. Shaun Preece has been a monumental part of all of this, and has supported me in all my wacky ideas leading to this point. He, like me, are humbled by your reaction to the show and your willingness to keep coming back for more. Also, I must thank Tim Schwartz for standing by us all these years, Robin Christopherson for continuing to bring positivity and fresh ideas every day, and to Sally Clay who has given us all the shake we required when we needed it to make sure we make this as relevant to as many people as possible. Thanks to all of you, and I hope you will continue to enjoy hearing all of us on our shared journey into a new chapter." Remember to subscribe to Double Tap on your podcast app or smart speaker of choice, and subscribe to us on YouTube for more content from the TV show and more. And we're also across social media @DoubleTapOnAir.

We know that Mac users love their Macs, and those of us who use the screen reader function called VoiceOver also love our Macs. But even the most hardest of fan folk can admit that it isn't perfect. And that's why we've been having this continuous debate and discussion on the state of the Mac from our points of view and welcoming a wide range of views. There really is no right or wrong in this discussion, but it is good to air our frustrations where they may exist. Listener Zachary got in touch with a lengthy response regarding our previous debates on this topic and this sparks a whole new discussion on today's episode with Blind Guys Steven Scott, Shaun Preece and Robin Christopherson. Keep your comments coming by emailing hello@blindguytalkstech.com or call 0204 571 3354.

It's fair to say that there are more than a few grumblings in the blind community over the accessibility of Mac using Voiceover. The issues range from poor focusing during use to an overall lack of keyboard command support for the most basic of tasks including answering and ending a FaceTime call. Some of the 'bugs' in Mac have been around for some time and on a previous episode of our podcast Scott and David who are both Mac users shared their concerns about the interface going forward. Today we hear from new Mac user Sally Clay and long-time Mac and Windows user Robin Christopherson to discuss these issues and share their opinions, following an article by Devin Prater who outlines some of his own concerns. We will have Devin on our podcast in a few week's time. In amongst all of this the guys also discuss the biggest fashion question of our times - are onesies the answer to everything? As always, keep in touch with the podcast by emailing hello@blindguytalkstech.com or call and leave a voicemail on 0204 571 3354.
Happy face. Sad face. Pile of poo. Those words don't read well when they are spelled out like that but these days the images associated are all the rage. Yes, today we talk on the podcast all about the tiny visual images that are known as emojis. Used widely in texts, social media and in emails, they have become the shortcode for many conversations these days. For the Blind Guys Steven and Shaun this hasn't been of much interest due to their visual nature, but Robin Christopherson joins the guys today to explain how he uses them, and why he loves them too. On Windows, to bring up the emoji options it is simply Windows + period key, but on the Mac it requires a free and cool app called Rocket. Listen to the demo by Robin on today's episode and let us know your thoughts on all things emoji by emailing hello@blindguytalkstech.com or call and leave us a voicemail on 0204 571 3354.

Today on the podcast Blind Guy Steven Scott is joined by Shaun Preece, Robin Christopherson and Tim Schwartz to discuss more of your emails and comments, plus there's a healthy dose of talk around the big topics including the right way to enjoy a buffet, parlour games and when sharing food is appropriate. We all know that we could be doing more to help improve and safeguard the future of our planet, but often it seems such a large problem that anything we do cannot actually help. However did you know that a simple Google search could be having a great impact on the world around us? Or that home working is likely to be just as bad for the environment as working at the office? There are so many interesting stories like this and today on the podcast AbilityNet's own Robin Christopherson (also a cool Blind Guy) joins Steven and Shaun to discuss the various ways our lifestyles affect the planet, and also our pocket. If you'd like to comment on the stories you've heard on our podcast please do email hello@blindguytalkstech.com or call and leave us a voicemail on 0204 571 3354.

There are many apps out there that can help those of us who are blind identify products such as food items, medicine packets and more. These apps use a combination of OCR (optical character recognition) and AI (artificial intelligence) combined with the barcode on the product itself to complete the picture of what it is you are holding in your hand or showing the camera on your counter top. Today on the podcast Steven Scott is joined by fellow Blind Guys Shaun Preece and Robin Christopherson to talk about Seeing AI, Google Lookout and Supersense AI. Find out how they get on identifying random products around the home and share your thoughts on apps you're using too by emailing us hello@blindguytalkstech.com or call and leave us a voicemail on 0204 571 3354.
