Tremaine Edmunds Era Is Over, What's Next For Buffalo?

Moran-Alytics Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 14, 2023 78:48

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Monday was an eventful day for the Buffalo Bills and the NFL as the legal tampering period that precedes free agency began. Patrick Moran is joined by Joe from Queens to discuss some of the more notable moves, including the Bills losing their start middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to the Chicago Bears. The Bills were hoping to find a way to retain Edmunds but that went out the window by 4:00pm Monday when reports circulated that Edmunds agreed to a four-year, $72 million deal with $50 million guaranteed with Chicago. The guys have plenty of thoughts on the situation including if he's worth that kind of money and is Brandon Beane dropped the ball by not locking Edmunds up a year or two earlier. Regardless of how you feel about Edmunds it's a hard look for a team to take a guy in the first round, develop him into a Pro Bowler and then watch him leave without a second contract. The Bills did do some acquiring and retaining on Monday, picking up former Dallas offensive guard Connor McGovern to likely replace Roger Saffold. Buffalo also made investments in retaining special teams guys, including Sam Martin, Tyler Matekovich and Cam Lewis. The guys also talk about some of the major moves around the league, including Jimmy G landing with Vegas, an offensive tackle cashing in with Kansas City and a pair of Bengals safeties finding new homes. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast  Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter:  @PatMoranTweets. Buffalo Bills & NFL Free Agency Predictions Episode

Moran-Alytics Podcast

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Aaron Quinn (Cover 1) for their weekly chat, this week focused on predicting where several current Buffalo Bills and players from around the league will ultimately land in free agency. It's a large free agent class for Buffalo in a process that officially begins next week, headlined by players like Tremaine Edmunds, Jordan Poyer, Devin Singletary, Jordan Phillips and Roger Saffold. Of course, the Bills aren't in good salary cap shape, which means some guys they'd definitely prefer to keep are going to end elsewhere. The guys go through the list and try to pick a handful of players they think Brandon Beane may prioritize, including agreeing that Tremaine Edmunds could very well get re-signed while feeling confident that Jordan Poyer's ready to move on. They also offer predictions for what team will, in Rex Ryan fashion "win the offseason." Also, could Buffalo trade for Tennessee running back Derrick Henry? Could Buffalo surprise people and go after a big-name tight end? Who is the best fit to behind Josh Allen at quarterback next season? That plus their Finish the Sentence segment and much more. On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by popular Cover 1 content creator Greg Tompsett to discuss all things going on with the Buffalo Bills now that free agency has officially begun, with Buffalo have a pretty impactful first day.. As of this posting the Bills have signed offensive guard Roger Saffold to (essentially) a one-year deal from the Tennessee Titans. Greg has thoughts on the 33-year old pro bowler joining the Bills and perhaps why Buffalo decided on him over Darryl Wililams. They also examine Harrison Phillips leaving the Bills for Minnesota with a pair of new defensive tackles signing with Buffalo, Tim Settle (Washington) and DaQuan Jones (Carolina). The guys also discuss re-signing Isiah McKenzie and extending Mitch Morse as well as cutting ties with Williams, Jon Feliciano and A.J. Klein. The guys also take a look around the craziness going around the league, from mega trades to huge early free agent moves by Jacksonville and the Los Angeles Chargers. That and much more!
