Sam from Wave After Wave Blog got together with Ty Thompson and Mario Williams for a special interview, ahead of camp opening later this month.
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by frenemy and recurring guest Joe From Queens and today they're running down and discussing some of the worst contracts given out in franchise history. Every team around the NFL has given out its fair share of awful contracts and Buffalo certainly is no exception. The Bills have seen many lucrative deals go astray and Joe put in the time to list together some of the absolute worst, leading to discussions that include the infamous guard/tackle big plash free acquisitions of Derrick Dockey and Langston Walker as well as quarterbacks Rob Johnson and Ryan Fitzpatrick that quickly fizzled out after receiving significant contracts. Defensive line has seen plenty of bad deals and a handful of them are discussed as well, including Marcel Dareus, Star Lotulelei, Dwan Edwards and Larry Tripplett. Additionally, Charles Clay was a big signing at the time but never elevated the Bills offense. That plus a few recent players being on the list, recollections of the Mario Williams chase, other nostalgia and much more. There were rumors and smoke swirling around USC's defensive coordinator search when Nebraska's, Tony White became the day's flavor. The Cornhuskers are trying to keep White from considering the Trojans' open position while encouraging him to be a head coach. Would Coach White prefer living in Lincoln or working for Lincoln? And does a year or two improving the Trojans' defense get White better head coaching opportunities? Brenden Rice led the Trojans with 14 TD passes and has accepted an invite to the Reese's Sr. Bowl. If Tahj Washington chooses to go to the NFL, there's a chance Lincoln Riley will look to the portal for a veteran receiver to complement his stable of young talent. Kyron Hudson, Michael Jackson III, Dorian Singer, and Mario Williams also return in that capacity. Will a college quarterback be worth more than a backup in the NFL? Right now a good quarterback in college can demand up to 2 million dollars through the transfer portal, and there are a few teams out there that have 6 and 7-million-dollar players on their roster. #usc #uscfootball #Trojans #washingtonhuskies #calbears #FOOTBALL #arizona #wildcats #instantreaction #ncaafoot ball #big10 #big10football #uclafootball #notredamefootball #oregonducks #recruiting #reggiebush #heisman #utah #utesfootball #LincolnRiley #alexgrinch #nfl #nil #top5 #pac12football #defense #impact #mvp #transferportal #ncaa #notredame #sec #secfootball #alabamafootball #georgiafootball #pac12 #uclafootball #survival Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Sunday night Tunnel Vision is back with USCFootball.com's Shotgun Spratling and Ryan Abraham along with intern Jack Smith breaking down the Trojans homecoming victory over the California Golden Bears Saturday night in the Coliseum. USC was one again without the services of wide receivers Jordan Addison and Mario Williams and linebackers Eric Gentry and Ralen Goforth but did see the return of Korey Foreman and offensive lineman Andrew Vorhees. The USC offense punted five times, but still was able to put up 41 points behind 100-yard receiving games by Tahj Washington and Michael Jackson III. But the defense started poorly and finished worse, allowing Cal QB Jack Plummer to throw for over 400 yards, 128 more yards than his season high. The guys talk about what Lincoln Riley had to say after the game about being very proud of getting win No. 8 and how hard victories are to come by, while also acknowledging that they didn't play their best on offense, defense or special teams. This is a podcast version of our video show Tunnel Vision that you can find on our Facebook or YouTube pages. Shotgun Spratling answers your USC mailbag questions about a number of topics spanning football and basketball on the latest edition of the 'Heard It on the Sidelines' podcast. He breaks down some of the interesting trends and participation facts from the Trojans' latest win, a 45-37 win at Arizona. He looks at USC's usage of its dime package and the emergence of Bryson Shaw as well as how the Trojans filled in their openings at wide receiver with Jordan Addison and Mario Williams both missing the desert matchup with the Wildcats. Shotgun closes out the show with a breakdown of the 15 sacks allowed by the Trojans and gives his most impressive offensive play design from Lincoln Riley this season. Sunday night Tunnel Vision is back with USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham and Chris Trevino along with intern Jack Smith breaking down the Trojans bounce-back victory over the Wildcats in Tucson. USC had a bye week to heal up after the physical road loss to Utah but was still without the services of wide receivers Jordan Addison and Mario Williams, linebackers Eric Gentry and Ralen Goforth, rush end Korey Foreman and offensive lineman Andrew Vorhees. Even though Arizona is an overmatched opponent on paper, losing your top-two receivers, top offensive lineman and top linebacker on the road would be challenging for most teams. The guys talk about how Lincoln Riley and his squad were able to overcome those losses (plus some extra adversity courtesy of the Pac-12 officials) and still secure what he called his most proud victory of the season. Quarterback Caleb Williams had yet another All-American like performance with a career high 411 passing yards and 5 more touchdowns to give him 10 TDs over the past two road contests. They also discuss what was another rough outing for the defense, giving up over 500 yards yet again including 141 yards and three touchdowns to Wildcat receiver Dorian Singer. In this special airport edition of the Peristyle Podcast host Ryan Abraham chats with Chris Trevino following USC's 45-37 road victory over Arizona. Chris was in Wildcat Stadium to witness the game in person and he chats with Ryan from the Tucson airport about everything he saw and heard from the Trojans victory. The guys discuss what was a record-breaking night for quarterback Caleb Williams who threw for a career best 411 yards and 5 touchdowns, giving him 10 touchdown passes over the last two games (both on the road). He put up those crazy numbers despite not having his top-two receivers in the lineup with him as both Jordan Addison and Mario Williams made the trip but did not play against Arizona. Williams also had a shuffled offensive line protecting him with Andrew Vorhees out, Justin Dedich moved to his spot at left guard, Jonah Monheim moved from right tackle to Dedich's place at right guard and Mason Murphy making his first start at right tackle. Defensively it was yet another game giving up over 500 yards, something defensive coordinator Alex Grinch can't be happy about. USC was without linebackers Eric Gentry and Ralen Goforth and rush end Korey Foreman and the defense wasn't able to overcome the losses, allowing 7.9 yards per play to the Wildcats. And of course the guys discuss another horrendous call by Pac-12 officials that caused head coach Lincoln Riley to go on a tirade, yelling at the officials as the team was heading into the locker room for halftime. If you have a question for Ryan and Chris you can drop them an email at podcast@uscfootball.com. Please review, rate and subscribe to the Peristyle Podcast on Apple Podcasts! Sunday night Tunnel Vision is back with USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham and Chris Trevino along with intern Jack Smith breaking down the Trojans heartbreaking 43-42 loss to the Utes. The USC offense came out of the gate with a bang, scoring touchdowns on its first three drives despite dealing with the intense crowd noise at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The defense was a different story, failing to get stops and having no answers for quarterback Cameron Rising and tight end Dalton Kincaid. The guys talk about what went right and what went wrong in Salt Lake City, how the Pac-12 officiating impacted the game and if head coach Lincoln Riley could have done anything differently down the stretch. Quarterback Caleb Williams had an All-American like performance, completing 25 of 42 passes for 381 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran for 97 positive yards including a 55-yard scamper in the first quarter, but his total rushing yards was 57 because of 40 yards lost in sacks. Jordan Addison and Mario Williams led the way for the receivers, combining for 11 catches for 251 yards and a touchdown. Linebacker Eric Gentry was USC's leading tackler with 9 stops and one forced fumble. This is a podcast version of our video show Tunnel Vision that you can find on our Facebook or YouTube pages. The hell-raising NFL guard dishes on everything: the bullying scandal, the Bills days, his best war stories, Aaron Kromer, Mario Williams, Derek Carr and finding purpose in life today for 85 minutes. We'll never see another Richie Incognito, that is for certain. You won't want to miss all of the stories he shares with subscribers on our latest Happy Hour, which we're including here on the podcast feed. As always, when you subscribe to Go Long you gain access to these hangouts with players from around the NFL. Not a member? Join our community today: GoLongTD.com. Where to even start? Incognito has stories for days. Many are fun, like his old battles in the trenches vs. Darnell Dockett and Antonio Smith. Many are much darker. Like the night in 2018 that Jonathan Martin was actually en route to kill him. I was sitting next to Incognito in Scottsdale, Ariz., when he saw Martin's threat on Instragram. His next 24 hours were crazy, as you'll hear. He relives it all. Whenever Incognito doesn't have football, things tend to go off the rails. Now that he's retired, is he ready? Our Bills fans here on the pod will also appreciate many Bills stories. The Rex days were wild. He's also bullish on new offensive line coach Aaron Kromer. On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, we continue a series examining the best 10 Buffalo Bills players of all-time, position by position. Today's episode runs down the ten best defensive ends in franchise history and while there's no mystery at the top, there's plenty to debate elsewhere. These power rankings are exclusively the opinions of TBP host Patrick Moran, who doesn't confer with media or poll fans for input. Several factors go into the ranking of these players positionally including productivity, longevity, personal accolades and overall team success. Bruce Smith being at the top of this list was always a foregone conclusion but there's plenty of water cooler debate to be had, including where Jerry Hughes, Aaron Schobel and Mario Williams deserve to land on this list. Of all the positions to this point, Patrick's confident the defensive ends will be the one where most disagree with the positioning of several guys. Here is a list of when remaining episodes from this series will drop. Thursday July 14th (Defensive Tackles) Monday July 18th (Linebackers) Tuesday July 19th (Cornerbacks) Wednesday July 20th (Safeties) Thursday July 21st (Special Teams) ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Twitter: @PatMoranTweets. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Chris Trevino are back in studio for a LIVE edition of the show, talking about what USC head coach Lincoln Riley and his staff are doing to put the finishing touches on the Trojans 2022 football roster. With last week's addition of Utah transfer linebacker Carson Tabaracci and Contra Costa CC QB Jake Jensen, USC has three spots left to fill before reaching the NCAA mandated 85 scholarship limit. Chris and Ryan discuss what positions the Trojans could be looking for in those final spots and how the roster has shaped up over the past five weeks since spring ball ended They also discuss what quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receivers Mario Williams and Jordan Addison had to say at the Clarkson Quarterback Retreat. Mario Williams and Romello Height join the boys in the truck. Mario is a wide receiver for the USC Trojans. He transferred from Oklahoma after a stellar freshman season. Romello is an outside linebacker at USC and transferred from Auburn University. The boys debate their high school football states, transitioning to Los Angeles, answer your fan submitted questions, and MUCH MORE.
In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Chris Trevino return to the studio to put a bow on USC's spring football game in front of a Coliseum spring game record crowd of over 33,000 that was shown live nationally on ESPN. Head coach Lincoln Riley wanted to showcase all of the work the players and coaches put in over the past five weeks and in our opinion they accomplished that objective. The entire atmosphere around the Coliseum was extremely welcoming with events for all of the fans in attendance and the product on the field was also intriguing, with two live 15-minute halves of football that gave the feeling of an actual game. The new players were finally introduced to Trojan fans (and the media) and everyone came away from the game with a better understanding of who those players are and how this team could potentially look when they kick off against Rice on September 3. Quarterback Caleb Williams came in with a lot of hype and he delivered, throwing a pair of touchdown passes to his former Oklahoma teammate Mario Williams. Former SEC linebackers Shane Lee and Romello Height also made positive impressions with their play on the field and leadership off of it. Former Pac-12 stars like former Oregon running back Travis Dye, former Stanford running back Austin Jones, former Colorado wide receiver Brenden Rice and former Washington receiver Terrell Bynum all looked good wearing Cardinal and Gold, giving the Trojans more weapons and more depth while draining some of the talent from the rest of the conference. The guys also dig into the pending NCAA Transfer Portal deadline of May 1, looking at some of the players Riley could potentially add before fall camp starts and how fast and furious things could get over the coming weeks and months. Ryan and Chris will be doing regular podcasts together going forward, so make sure you send in your questions addressed to them at podcast@uscfootball.com. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Chris Trevino return to the studio to break down all of the news and notes from the highly anticipated first day of USC spring football. New head coach Lincoln Riley has been at the helm about 100 days and on Tuesday he got his first opportunity to see his new squad practicing officially on Howard Jones Field. Riley called his roster one of the most unique in college football history with tons of turnover and new additions out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. The guys talk about what Riley had to say about not being finished with his retooling of the roster, with 10 or more players to be added between now and the start of fall camp in August. The guys also talk about the offensive position groups, starting with the quarterbacks and highly touted Oklahoma quarterback transfer Caleb Williams. The media was able to talk to Williams for the very first time in a USC jersey and the true sophomore did not disappoint, holding court in front of a large group of reports. Williams showed off his infectious personality and showed why he was able to come in and establish himself as a leader on this team despite only being on campus for a little over a month. They also talk about the running back room that is down to three scholarship backs at the moment and the wide receivers where several high profile transfers came in, including Mario Williams from Oklahoma. They also talk about the USC Pro Day which featured 15 former Trojan football players including potential first rounder Drake Jackson (who looked much bigger than he did just a few months ago). There was still no Drake London due to his injury, but he plans on doing his own workout on campus in early April. Hour 4: Sneaky Joe tests Schopp and Bulldog on Buffalo Bills that had double digit sack seasons.
No opening take today. Lincoln Riley's appearance on "The Herd" begins the show. We'll talk about Riley later. But first, Lee's changed podcast players & Grant thought the Super Bowl wasn't very good (3:45). Jeff Lebby recently said Dillon Gabriel is OU's quarterback right now. It's not a big deal, but it is a big deal because the last head coach always conducted sham QB competitions (14:10). Lee points to a recent Berry Tramel column praising OU's recent truth telling and how it's refreshing to see some honesty after Lincoln Riley seemed to lie more than he needed to. Grant wishes we had known more about Riley's shortcomings behind the scenes during the 2021 season. Lee will follow USC more closely than any other non-OU team moving forward (25:00). We try to figure out why so many OU fans and media members were annoyed/angry with Lincoln Riley's recent comments on "The Herd" (46:05). Riley's trying to win football games by accepting former OU players into his program. Will Brent Venables continue his standard of not accepting former Clemson players to OU (55:20)? If Riley told Caleb Williams, Mario Williams, and Latrell McCutchin that he would not accept them to USC, would all three of those players still be at OU now (1:03:10)? We get back to the Super Bowl. Why was Samaje Perine in the game instead of Joe Mixon on the final two plays? Zac Taylor's explanation makes sense, but it also doesn't make him look very good. Was the Bengals one of the worst Super Bowl teams in a while? Lee's annoyed that Joe Burrow couldn't move at the end of the game (1:05:25). Chris gives great insights on what went on behind the scenes, coaching decisions, we talk the murders row of insane talent that he played with in Chicago & Buffalo. Chris talks about relationships with guys like: Lance Briggs, Urlacher, Devin Hester, Jay Cutler, Julius Peppers, Matt Forte, Brandon Marshall, Sam Bradford, Stephon Gilmore, Kyle Williams, Mario Williams, Sammy Watkins, Brandon Spikes, Chris Hogan & more. We walk thru the hardest guys to play against, most talented teammates & the famous 2010 NFC Championship game.
In the opening take, Lee likes that Brent Venables has added a healthy amount of analysts to his support staff so far. Then Grant joins to talk about Marvin Mims still being on the OU roster, but could he still leave at some point (5:30)? We take a look at OU's wide receivers and the outlook for 2022 (19:10). Grant got some criticism for his initial Dillon Gabriel take on the podcast. Has he changed his mind at all? Lee also wasn't all that excited about Gabriel when he first committed. Lee tells you the perceived strengths and weaknesses he sees in Gabriel (26:00). Grant is still very worried that OU will not be very good in 2022. He also does not expect the defense to be good in 2022. Lee disagrees (52:30). We transition to OU's interest in Jaxson Dart. Lee goes over what he's seen from Dart on tape. Lee thinks there's a good chance OU gets Dart, while Grant doesn't think it's going to happen. This part gets a bit heated when they debate the stability of OU's program. How will Dillon Gabriel being at OU impact Jaxson Dart's decision (59:00)? Mario Williams and Latrell McCutchin are going to USC (1:15:30). Grant tries to explain why he's playing Devil's Advocate on OU's 2022 season (1:19:35). Roy Manning's back to coaching linebackers at USC. Jay Valai gets Gentry Williams locked down plus Lee praises Valai's Alabama corners vs. Georgia (1:30:30). OU's brought in a lot of transfer players lately. Todd Bates is doing work. Lee's more excited about the transfers than Grant. Keeping with the theme of the podcast. We also talk about OU's new defensive staff vs. OU's previous defensive staff (1:36:20). Caleb Williams still has not decided. What if he randomly comes back to OU? Wisconsin is a possibility? Really? Will we know more about Williams' decision by Friday (1:49:00)? | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonNews9

In the opening take, Lee regrets a bet he didn't make. Then Grant joins to briefly talk Alabama-Cincinnati as that game kicks off during this recording. Total crossfire on how they think the game will go. Then we get into how cool it was to see Bob Stoops coaching in the Alamo Bowl. Was that the most prepared OU has looked for a game all year? OU ran the ball well and Cale Gundy called a heck of a game (10:30). Kennedy Brooks had a great game. What kind of NFL career will he have? Marvin Mims caught a long TD, Drake Stoops caught a TD and had a cool moment with his dad (21:35). Mario Williams had a TD taken off the board, Eric Gray was very involved. We take this time to rip on Lincoln Riley (29:30). Grant says Caleb Williams was very good and there were some areas that he clearly worked on the last month. Jalil Farooq looked pretty darn good and we take more time to rip Lincoln Riley by talking about Charleston Rambo at Miami (35:40). Grant doesn't think the defense played well at all. We hit on some of the players who stood out. Ultimately we are happy the defense will get a total overhaul under Brent Venables (42:15). Okay let's talk Caleb Williams and his future. Is he gonna leave? Grant's super concerned. Lee's not too worried. They have a spirited discussion (51:10). We share your "3 Word Reviews" from Twitter and Facebook. Topics include players committing to schools based off of coaches vs. the actual school, Stoops handing off his visor to Venables, OU getting revenge on Oregon, Taco Bell, no penalties for players transferring, and wrapping up a super weird OU season (1:20:00). Final thoughts on bowl season so far, Grant's super fired up about mayonnaise, and when our next podcast episode will be (1:40:00). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonNews9
