Old wounds don't always fade just because time passes. Sometimes, the things that happened years ago still shape how people see themselves, how they trust others, and how they navigate the world. It's frustrating to feel like something unseen is pulling the strings, making certain patterns repeat no matter how much effort goes into changing them. The past doesn't just disappear, but understanding its influence is often the first step toward breaking free from it. Keisha Henry is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and master social worker (MSW) with 16 years of experience specializing in trauma-informed therapy. She primarily works with women, adolescents, and parents, helping them navigate emotional healing through strength-based therapeutic approaches. As the author of Healing from the Heart: Lessons from My Journey and a doctoral researcher, Keisha focuses on the psychological impacts of father absence on women and girls. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 22nd, 2024, day 357 of our incredible journey through the Bible. I'm Hunter, your host and Bible reading coach, here to guide your hearts and minds toward Jesus. While Heather is away visiting family in Colorado, we gather here to immerse ourselves in the sacred scriptures. In this episode, we journey through John chapters 12 through 14, witnessing powerful moments like the anointing of Jesus by Mary, Judas's eventual betrayal, and Jesus's profound teachings on love, service, and the promise of the Holy Spirit. As we read, we'll explore the gift that Jesus offers—peace of mind and heart—timely words as we prepare our hearts for the Christmas season. So, settle in, open your hearts, and let's dive deep into the living Word of God together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: I just went and did a little Christmas shopping right before doing this podcast. I was looking for gifts as you do when you go Christmas shopping. In today's reading, we hear that Jesus has offered us a gift. Verse 27 says, I am leaving you with a gift. Curious to know what it is? I mean, it is almost Christmas. It's peace of mind and heart. That's the gift. It's unique to him, he says. No one in this world can give you that. Nothing in this world can give you that. Peace of mind and heart. Is your mind troubled? Is your heart troubled? Jesus is offering you a gift today, a living word of God. A man who walked about the land of Galilee, who performed miracles, who raised the dead, who offered himself on behalf of all of humanity, the creator of all things. Creator of that ocean that I walked by today, looked out over. He offers me peace of mind and heart. All those anxieties that I have about my future, about my family, about finances, about health, about my mom, all those things that make my mind very unpeaceful. Jesus wants to give me peace. There in the midst of all that, he says, I have a gift for you, Hunter. Any place in my heart that is not settled or that is wounded, that is confused or injured, Jesus himself today says, I can bring peace there. I can quiet your heart even. So, if you're like me today, let us together say thank you. Let us together find some time to to sit with this generous gift. And allow the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the counselor, the one who is with us now. Help us to open that gift, and to begin to live in the light of it, in the joy of it, in the love of it, receiving all that God has for each and every one of us. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the pair that I have for you. Peace, of mind, and heart. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

Sandy provides strategies for finding balance between the two states and emphasizes the importance of holistic well-being and the practice of yoga in managing responsibilities. Recognize signs of stress and adjust priorities to create space and reduce unnecessary stress. Focus on incremental progress and reflection rather than striving for perfection. In this captivating video, our pastor delves into the profound wisdom found in Proverbs and Ezekiel, exploring the concept of giving one's heart to God. You'll discover the true meaning of the heart in a spiritual sense and unravel its significance in our faith journey. Join us as we embark on this enlightening series. Highlights 1. The Heart's True Definition The heart in the Bible refers to our mind, will, conscience, and emotions. It's the seat of affection, wisdom, and understanding. So, when we talk about giving our heart to God, we're talking about giving Him our entire being. 2. The Mind's Role The heart thinks, decides, and discerns right from wrong. It's where our thoughts reside, as seen in Matthew 9:4 when Jesus knew their thoughts. 3. Purpose of Heart Acts 11:23 emphasizes the importance of a "purpose of heart," indicating a strong and determined will to serve the Lord. 4. Emotions and Joy Our hearts also house our emotions. As in John 16:22, it's where our joy and sorrow are deeply felt. 5. The Conscience Connection Our conscience, an integral part of the heart, plays a significant role in guiding us to distinguish right from wrong. 6. The Inherent Deceitfulness It's crucial to acknowledge that by nature, the human heart is deceitful and wicked. Jeremiah 17:9 attests to its deceitful nature. 7. God's Call to Give Him Our Heart In the main verses, we witness the Lord's call to give Him our hearts. This request is made by our Creator, the Father of all, and it carries immense significance in our spiritual journey. In conclusion, our pastor's message is a powerful reminder to give our hearts to God, surrendering our entire being to His divine wisdom and guidance. "Behold the Heart which has so loved men that it has spared nothing, even to exhausting and consuming Itself, in order to testify Its love” - Jesus to St. Margaret Mary How can we love like Jesus?  What is His love like?  Answering these questions is the role of devotions in the Catholic world.  They help us learn more about God and how He relates to us.  The Sacred Heart of Jesus teaches us to love as God loves and this is a lesson that all families need to embrace fully.  In this podcast, we interview Emily Jaminet of the Sacred Heart Enthronement network and author of the new book Holy Habits of the Sacred Heart.  Our conversation explains how both of our families have been impacted by this devotion and how it has given us a way to proclaim Christ as King, and also to have a place to go as a safe refuge in times of trial.  As we pray to the Heart of Jesus, He can change our hearts to make us more like Himself!  When we learn about how He loves, we can imitate that love which is a path of holiness itself.  Learn more about this devotion, what the Nine First Fridays are, how Jesus blesses families with the 12 Promises of the Sacred Heart and why the Enthronement is a means of evangelization and transformation.   Key Takeaways: This devotion gives “spiritual stability”, focus, and a way to understand the love of Jesus in a concrete, defined way.  It prevents us from making Jesus into our own image, but instead reveals to us how He truly loves. Jesus wants a relationship of love with each one of us and He wants to transform our hearts to be like His.  A great way to reconcile with children or those with whom we have conflict is to say, “I am allowing Jesus to change my heart”. Forgiveness means that we are coming up against “cancel culture” which says that once someone does something wrong they are cut out of one's life.  By following the Heart of Jesus we learn practice forgiveness in our home and communities. The devotion of Nine First Fridays and the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in the home give families concrete ways to understand and come closer to the Heart of Jesus. Couple Discussion: How can we increase our devotion to the Sacred Heart?  Emily mentioned that giving up control and trusting in Jesus is a first step to being docile to Jesus.  What does that mean to us?  How can we practice forgiveness in our home?  Is there anyone in our lives that we need to forgive?  Reference Links:  https://welcomehisheart.com/ https://www.emilyjaminet.com

"Love and fear are the driving forces in life. When we lean towards love, listen to our hearts, and take courageous leaps, we contribute to a better reality for everyone. It's about embracing courage and understanding, rather than succumbing to fear," says Paige Easter, Co-host of the Shift to Freedom podcast. This week, Ben and Paige are digging into their impressions of the beloved Disney classic, Pocahontas! While Ben experiences the movie for the first time, Paige fondly recalls it as a cherished part of her childhood. The hosts explore the film's themes of love and fear, and the thought-provoking interplay of toxic masculinity versus healthy masculinity portrayed through the movie's supporting characters. While Pocahontas may not boast metaphors like other Disney classics, the hosts celebrate the lessons and insights that Pocahontas imparts about having the courage to follow your heart in the face of adversity, taking the time to truly listen to those you disagree with in order to resolve differences, and generally following your heart's call.Key Takeaways:Love and understanding possess the power to conquer fear and turmoilAttentive listening bridges gaps and nurtures connectionsChoosing the path less traveled, coupled with an adventurous spirit, can lead to genuine personal fulfillmentQuotes"I think it is a risky path to ride the river that is less known and that is choppier, and that is less smooth. But ultimately, the willingness to embrace courage, and listen and understand things in your world will serve you in the long run and will amount to much more safety than just following the traditional path where you actually still don't know what is around the bend." (25:42 | Ben Easter)"For me, it was all about love and fear and that when you are leaning towards and allowing yourself to want things and listen to your heart that you take courageous leaps in it contributes to a better reality for everybody who's in it - versus being afraid and fearful and ending up (where) people get hurt." What is it that truly holds your heart? Earthly possessions or treasures of the Kingdom of God? Today, we unpack the powerful teachings of Jesus from His Sermon on the Mount, challenging our devotion and leading us to introspection. We attempt to understand the true meaning of storing up treasures in heaven, and how it stands in stark contrast to chasing worldly possessions. This episode is a deep examination of our value systems, shining a light on the space where our hearts truly belong. The religious leaders during Jesus's time clung to their religion, without letting it transform their hearts - a mindset not entirely different from our own culture's attachment to material possessions. However, the message of Jesus isn't a call for poverty, but an invitation to make spiritual investments. As we explore this concept, we discover the joy of generously sharing our time, energy, and possessions with the church and those around us. This episode is an exploration of our attachments, making us question whether we are hoarding or making heavenly investments. Can we serve two masters? Is it possible to juggle earthly and heavenly treasures, oscillate between light and darkness, or be a slave to both sin and Christ? Jesus's teachings lead us to deep reflection on our loyalties. This episode concludes with an examination of our devotion and surrender, prompting us to evaluate our lives through the lens of Jesus's teachings. By the end of this episode, we hope to inspire you to live a life of service to God and treasure the eternal over the temporal.

Simon T. Bailey is my former Disney colleague, and I can't wait for him to share his entrepreneurial journey! He had four jobs over seven years at Disney, including parking event sales, selling the Braves spring training, handling international wholesale, and being the Sales Director for the Disney Institute. During his time at Disney, Simon was interviewed by a journalist and stated that he saw himself in 10-15 years as the President and CEO of the Walt Disney World Resort and eventually the Chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Company. This statement caused an uproar with his superior! Today, Simon has been an entrepreneur in the content distribution business for nearly twenty years. He started by hiring an instructional designer and investing in developing content. He has since branched out into speaking, coaching, writing books, creating online courses, and licensing content. His main focus is creating content once and using it to create multiple revenue streams. Tune into the interview to hear about Simon's journey as an entrepreneur and his new book, Ignite The Power of Women in Your Life! His new book discusses: Living in relationships that are whole, genuine, and open. Understanding how and why men think the way they do. Being your best, most-vulnerable self. Celebrating and connecting with the women in your life more meaningfully than ever before. Creating new opportunities — and even new definitions — for success. In this episode, you'll hear: Simon's roles at Disney Why he decided to leave Disney and how he gained the courage to leave What inspired him to become a leadership coach and speaker The importance of living a purpose-driven life.
