I launched The Atlanta Beer Boutique in 2011 as a beer blog that evolved into a pop up craft beer experience company. But before all of that, I focused on giving shape to my mission, my vision and my company core values. It wasn't the most exhilarating work, but totally necessary. I learned, in these early planning stages, the importance of being in the moment. Giving birth to our dreams requires us to be in an open and receptive posture. That's how I've tried to approach planning for The Atlanta Beer Boutique since the very beginning. To borrow a quote from this week's guest, Rashan Ali, I was "Flowing & Growing." Rashan Ali is a multi media personality and one of the hosts of an ensemble talk show, Sister Circle Live. But since the pandemic, production of the show halted, the show was eventually canceled, and life has been one lesson of love, gratitude and "what the hell's" ever since! I hope you enjoy our conversation! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Technology and Lifestyle Expert Stephanie Humphrey joins us for episode 122 of the Relate podcast! In this episode, Stephanie and I discuss how there is a divide in how we approach technology. On this week’s episode, Ashley and Marcy talk about sacrifice and suffering and the strong Black women trope that we take on relationships. The Christian internets have been ablaze with this trope since Pastor John Gray’s interview with Sister Circle Live where he disclosed his wife’s suffering throughout their marriage and that she had experienced more pain as she “birthed him” than she had during the birth of their children, and before that when David Mann admitted to cheating and fathering two children outside of his 30-year marriage. While men and women have cosigned these testimonies of “repentance” and “transparency,” mixed reactions online are that this type of rhetoric is dangerous and puts women in positions to make unfair sacrifices for companionship. Listen to this real conversation about relationships, and the sacrifice and emotional labor endured while “birthing” a man.
