DESCRIPTION: The Packers' pre-draft picture just got a lot more interesting — and a lot more confusing. Ryan breaks down the bizarre Juwan Gaston top-30 visit controversy, where conflicting reports from Tom Silverstein and social media posts have left everyone pointing fingers, and the most cynical explanation might actually be the most plausible one. Key topics in this episode: Garrett Nussmeier spine update — A cyst on his spine may have tanked his 2025 season, but a spinal specialist has cleared him with no short or long-term risk. Could he be the Packers' secret QB visitor, and does this change his draft stock dramatically? Jermaine McCoy's sliding draft value — A top-10 talent with a knee concern that could push him out of the first round entirely. Ryan explores the Gannon connection and whether the Packers should pull the trigger if he falls. Gutekunst press conference breakdown — BG admits positional need is "subconsciously baked" into the board, doubles down on best player available, and reveals the team almost didn't show up for Day 1. What does it all mean? O-line, NIL, wide receiver room, and Van Ness — Ryan covers every major topic from the presser with honest, unfiltered takes on what the Packers actually believe versus what they're saying for the cameras. Steve Palazzolo from the 33rd Team joined the show. The in-person visits have wrapped up for the Steelers as we sit one week away from the NFL Draft. Steve does not see Drew Allar as a future franchise QB even though this time last year it looked like he would. Steve doesn't care for player comps during draft season. Steve likes Carson Beck over a group that includes Allar, Garrett Nussmeier and Cole Payton. He said Nussmeier is a QB that can be effective in a dome or nice weather, but probably not in the AFC North. Steve acknowledged the massive risk to Taylen Green, but he might be worth the swing if you trust your offensive coaches. Steve said Vega Ioane is one of the safest picks in the draft and will plug & play Week 1. How does Steve see Denzel Boston, who could be on the Steelers 1st round board? Steve doesn't think it's smart to sellout your draft to select Carnell Tate – he added that nobody in this draft is worth that.

It's a final at PNC Park – the Nats have beaten the Pirates 8-7 in 10 innings. A lot to chew on after Oneil Cruz could have provided the game-winning run in the 9th, Konnor Griffin made his biggest defensive gaffe in a multi-hit performance, and more. The guys aren't happy after this one. More Bucco reaction following an 8-7 (F/10) loss at PNC Park. Should guys bunt more? Is the bullpen overrated?

Live around 5 p.m., Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise weighs in on news that Steelers coach Mike McCarthy personally attended the pro day of LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier this week. Is this a signal of genuine interest in Nussmeier on the part of McCarthy and GM Omar Khan? Or just a courtesy to Nussmeier's father, Doug, who worked under McCarthy with the Dallas Cowboys? How does Nussmeier compare to other QBs in this draft including Drew Allar, Ty Simpson and Cade Klubnik? And how would he fit within a quarterback group that could once again include future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers as well as 2025 backups Mason Rudolph and Will Howard? On the Wednesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Adam Bittner welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Christopher Carter to ponder which NFL draft prospects they'd like to see the team bring in for Top 30 visits of their 2026 selections next month. Is Carson Beck a serious candidate to join the QB room after already making a visit this week? Could Garrett Nussmeier be another name to watch at that position because of his pre-existing relationship with new coach Mike McCarthy? Would Chase Bisontis be a good option at guard on Day 2? Is Lee Hunter potentially the nose tackle of the future next to Keeanu Benton and Derrick Harmon? Could KC Concepcion prove to be a dark horse option at receiver beyond obvious names like Jordyn Tyson and Makai Lemon? And why does Chris like the potential of safeties A.J. Haulcy and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren as long-term options to join Joey Porter Jr. in the secondary? Our duo tackles those questions and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Rich, Matt, and Garret kick off their 2026 rookie prospect reviews with the position that breaks the most hearts every year: quarterbacks. The group emphasizes how much draft capital and landing spot shape outcomes, but also why weak classes can create value pockets in Superflex, especially if a QB can buy fantasy points with rushing. They start at the top with Fernando Mendoza, presenting him as the cleanest profile in the class and the safest Superflex bet. The discussion centers on accuracy, ball placement, decision-making, and leadership, with a debate on ceiling. One view sees him living as a reliable QB1 or high-end QB2 type. The other argues he can climb higher if the team build around him hits and the offense keeps evolving. Next up is Garrett Nussmeier, framed as a tricky evaluation because the 2025 tape looks heavily impacted by injury, while the 2024 tape shows a much more live arm and a more confident, pro-style passer. The group keeps coming back to one key point: draft capital will tell the story. If he lands in the right range, he becomes a real swing worth taking in Superflex rookie drafts. They move into Drew Allar as the “looks the part” quarterback that coaches will want to develop. The upside is obvious in the frame and arm talent, but the concerns show up when the pocket collapses and the processing speeds up. The consensus is that he needs time, structure, and the right coaching situation to see if the tools translate. They then cover Diego Pavia, giving credit for competitiveness and production, but making it clear the size limitation creates a massive barrier to draft capital and long-term opportunity. For fantasy purposes, they frame it as the kind of player where any real playing-time window would likely be the sell window. They also hit Taylen Green as the ultimate “tools vs quarterbacking” prospect. The athletic profile is wild and the rushing upside creates fantasy intrigue, but the concerns are about processing, mechanics, and whether he can consistently function as an NFL passer. The takeaway is that he is a pure swing pick, not a stable bet. They close with Luke Altmyer, who gets credit for playing on time, protecting the ball, and being coach-friendly, but is framed as a capped-ceiling profile for fantasy. Even if he sticks in the NFL as a backup type, the upside is limited compared to the quarterbacks who can generate fantasy points with rushing. Start Using the Film Room Today! Steve and Jeff listened to LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier's media availability at the 2026 NFL Combine.
1. Super Bowl LX Takeaways-DKrom: The last two Super Bowl winners are proof that there's no such thing as too much DL depth-Hal: Seahawks won the battle of attrition and peaked at the right time thanks to their strong depth2. Super Bowl LX Honors-GOAT of the Week (DKrom: John Schneider, Hal: Mike Macdonald)-Dunce of the Week (DKrom: Rams D/ST, Hal: Josh McDaniels)3. Coaching Carousel-Grading the Steelers hire of Mike McCarthy as head coach (DKrom: D, Hal: C-) -Grading the Bills hire of Joe Brady as head coach (DKrom: C, Hal: D) -Grading the Browns hire of Todd Monken as head coach (DKrom: C, Hal: D)-Grading the Cardinals hire of Mike LaFleur as head coach (DKrom: D, Hal: C) -Grading the Raiders hire of Klint Kubiak as head coach (DKrom: A. Hal: A)-Would you be surprised if 2 (or all) of Davis Webb, Grant Udinski and Nate Scheelhaase are NOT head coaches in 2027?-Would you say Aaron Glenn is entering 2026 on the hottest seat of any head coach? -Do you think a potential dumpster fire awaits the Eagles in 2026 (particularly on offense) with Jeff Stoutland no longer in the building? 4. Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026-If the PFHOF doesn't (at MINIMUM) change the selection process for seniors, coaches and contributors back to the pre-2025 system, do we riot (metaphorically speaking of course)?-Outside the Belichick/Kraft snubs, do you think the Hall assembled one of the better classes it has in recent years?-Which one of these three (Willie Anderson, Marshal Yanda, or Terrell Suggs) do you think is most deserving to be enshrined in 2027? 5. Tag or No Tag-George Pickens-Trey Hendrickson-Kyle Pitts-Rashid Shaheed-Tyler Linderbaum-Daniel Jones or Alec Pierce6. Truth or Exaggeration-We will see A LOT more trades than we're accustomed to from March through late August-Either Jeff Bezos or Howard Schultz will end up buying the Seahawks as part of a larger group-Ohio State LB Sonny Styles will hear his name called before fellow Buckeye Caleb Downs on draft night-Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty will lead all NFL skill players in total touches in 2026-Two (or all three) of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Puka Nucua, and Will Anderson, Jr. will receive a blockbuster contract extension averaging $50M per year or more this season -The Patriots OL will have 2 or 3 new starters in 2026-Unless the Raiders significantly move off their demands for a Micah Parsons-type haul in exchange for Maxx Crosby, the Bears should be content to rebuild their DL via the draft and value FA signings-The Los Angeles Chargers will win the AFC West and a playoff game in 2026 7. Offseason Bold Predictions -DKrom: Both Maxx Crosby and A.J. Brown well get traded about a week or so before Week 1. One will end up in Buffalo, and the other will end up in New England. Raiders will end up getting the same compensation the Cowboys got in the Micah Parsons trade and the Eagles will end up getting an extra first and second in 2027. -Hal: Despite only one first-round talent, 3-4 QB's get selected in the first round (Mendoza, Simpson, Nussmeier, Chambliss)8. Challenge Flags-DKrom: Seahawks…only hand out big $$ contracts to in-house extension candidates (Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Devon Witherspoon) and in-house free agents (Kenneth Walker III and Rashid Shaheed). Address your likely FA losses at corner with low-cost, supplementary signings and find long-term answers in the draft-Hal: Bears and Patriots...CONTINUE THE REBUILDING PROCESS
Hour 2 with Bob Pompeani: This is a very solid wide receiver class in the first round. Nick Farabaugh thinks the No. 21 pick will be a wide receiver. Nick thinks Garrett Nussmeier or Drew Allar makes sense in the middle rounds. The Steelers could take a shot on a mid-round quarterback because they're going to have 11-12 picks and there are good prospects who will fall for various reasons.
This is a very solid wide receiver class in the first round. Nick thinks the Steelers will sign a receiver and draft a receiver who can both start. He projects Calvin Austin to make $6-7 million per year and thinks Austin will be back as a WR4. Nick thinks Garrett Nussmeier or Drew Allar makes sense in the middle rounds.
NFL Draft analyst Ryan Wilson from CBS Sports joined the show. With the Steelers in need of another WR, Ryan told the guys it is a ‘deep' group in the 2026 class. Ryan said Carnell Tate is probably out of the question, but there is a slew of WRs behind him that will be on the Steelers board at 21st overall. Denzel Boston and Jordyn Tyson are the top two names Ryan gave the guys. Ryan pointed out some receivers that will be around on the second night of the selection process. Makai Lemon drew comparisons to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who just won a Super Bowl and OPOY. Ryan told the guys why the Steelers should probably stay away from Ty Simpson in the 1st round. Ryan reminded us that he had Will Howard as a 2nd or 3rd round projection last year in the draft, but of course he fell to the 6th round and pick 185. He added that he would like to see what Mike McCarthy can do with Howard as his QB1. If the Steelers take a QB this year, will it be Garrett Nussmeier due to his relationship with McCarthy? Ryan thinks Nussmeier is a Day 3 pick.
The Seahawks traded DK Metcalf to the Steelers and Geno Smith to the Raiders after a 10-7 season along with firing their offensive coordinator after last season, which led to some thinking they were rebuilding. They were just retooling. They made shrewd moves and nailed the draft in the last 4 seasons in pursuit to a dominant Seahawks victory in Super Bowl LX. Being bold paid off – that doesn't always work, but for Seattle it did. Ryan thinks Nussmeier is a Day 3 pick. Donny Football Debrief – What does the salary cap space look like for the Steelers heading into the offseason?
On the Wednesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Adam Bittner welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Christopher Carter to analyze the NFL draft QB class following Chris's trip to the Senior Bowl last week. How does the Steelers' Will Howard compare to guys expected to be available on Days 2 and 3? Is he clearly a better option than names like Garrett Nussmeier, Drew Allar, Cade Klubnik, Carson Beck, Sawyer Robertson and others? Or could one of those guys offer value over him as he competes with Mason Rudolph and -- possibly -- Aaron Rodgers for positioning on new coach Mike McCarthy's depth chart? Where's the ideal spot on the depth chart for Howard if GM Omar Khan gets his offseason moves right? And why do so many fans have such resolute faith in the former sixth-round pick? Our duo tackles those questions and more. Our duo tackles those questions, then ponders Khan's trade options this offseason. How seriously should he consider moving on from Jalen Ramsey, given the corner/safety's hefty cap hit? Is he worthy of making the money Minkah Fitzpatrick did at the position? Could the team get by with names like DeShon Elliott, Chuck Clark, Jabrill Peppers and Kyle Dugger in that spot? Or should it consider drafting a safety like Caleb Downs or Bud Clark to fill the void at a cheaper price? The later, the guys ponder how to handle the Steelers' array of draft picks. Should Khan hold onto all 12 with the goal of building his team's depth? Or should he trade up, even if it's not for a QB? Knowing that it's unlikely he could keep all of the picks on the 53-man roster and that impact talents like USC's Makai Lemon at WR could be available? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
