Guacamelee is a fresh, bright, Mexico-inspired Metroidvania-brawler by Drinkbox. Originally released in 2014, it preempted the comeback of the Metroidvania genre by a few years, but a 2018 Switch port brought it to a new audience – including me. This week, on the Wise Investor Show, Greg goes over five items to discuss with your advisor in early March: 1) COORDINATING your Qualified Charitable Distributions (Charitable Giving from your IRA) with how much you're distributing each month from your IRA. 2) Examining if your Traditional IRAs have basis and are worth converting to the Roth 3) Super Turbo your savings to IRAs by contributing up to this year's AND last year's limits, for as much as $13,500 if you were above age 50 last year. Possibly as much as $27,000 to your IRAs if you're married. 4) Consider the Backdoor Roth IRA concept if you earn too much to qualify for a Roth IRA contribution outright and you don't otherwise have any money in a Traditional IRA. 5) Consider your Asset Allocation and Asset LOCATION. If you're converting money to the Roth IRA, should it have the same time horizon as it did when it was a Traditional IRA? To reach Greg Smith, call 571-203-1600. Welcome to this week’s episode of Character Unlock, where hosts John Miller and Andrew Brooker decide to mark the occasion of the recently announced Super Nintendo Classic by dragging back on their guest from February’s Resident Evil episode, fellow Failed Critic Matt Lambourne rejoins the duo. With a veritable buffet of nonsense to cover, the lads tackle the ridiculous situation that Activision caused for themselves with their insane rerelease of their Modern Warfare rerelease. Moving swiftly into more news of old classics getting awfully misguided releases, the latest Micro Machines game to be unleashed on the world takes a well-deserved beating from the group. Matt rolls the conversation right back around to Call of Duty in his episode’s What We’ve Been Playing section, as he explains why he wasn’t as taken with Modern Warfare as everyone else. While our hosts revisit favourites and faithfuls like a Grand Theft Auto, FIFA and Bulletstorm before delving into our first good, meaty topic in a while. Come join the trio as they dissect the games on the soon-to-be-on-eBay-at-four-times-the-cost Super NES Classic Mini console. From Kirby’s Dream Course to Castlevania and everything in between, the guys take a good hard look at the nostalgia driven console and the games that could make or break it. Join us again in a couple of weeks for more gaming foolishness. In the meantime, maybe come find us on a Twitter, Facebook and Instagram all @CharacterUnlock. Super Turbo vs the Flying Ninja Squirrels by Lee Kirby
It was the most dangerous argument of the entire 1990’s. A debate so bitter, it caused friends to fight each other to the death. Which was better Street Fighter 2 or Mortal Kombat. Both released in the UK in 1995, their cinematic incarnations are put to the test. It’s Lambert vs Van Damme in a fight to the finish. Legendary Arcade and Super Nintendo fight ‘em up Street Fighter 2 was so successful, it spawned countless imitators, practically creating a whole gaming genre. Can the man who wrote the gun happy Die Hard and Commando turn in a good fist fight? Should Kylie Minogue have stuck to singing? And will it be a sonic boom, or will it fire a Blanka? Mortal Kombat was a very different kind of fighter from its Japanese counterparts. Switching from hand-drawn sprites to digitised characters, and shot through with dark humour, it was more notorious for its controversial blood and gore fatalities. Could writer/director Paul Anderson deliver a film to satisfy its fans, but appease the parents of its tweeny audience? Will Talisa Soto avoid the curse of the Bond Girl? And will it be an ice shattering Sub Zero, or just sub-standard? Join us as we blow into a cartridge, break out the six button pads to find out if it will be a Perfect Round or a Flawless Victory. Are all video game related movies terrible? Are there any we should do?
