Daher ist es kein Wunder, dass der junge Commodore Schmidlabb von der Videospiel-Reihe Mortal Kombat angezogen wurde, wie eine Motte vom Licht. Doch waren es allein die ultrabrutalen Super-Moves, mit denen man die gegnerischen Fighter ins Jenseits schicken konnte, die ihn fasziniert haben? Die Frage würde er mit einem kleinen Nein beantworten. Schließlich ist Mortal Kombat ein Schmelztiegel für zahlreiche Einflüsse aus der Popkultur der 80er und 90er. So ist Johnny Cage nichts anderes als eine Pixel-Version von Frank Dux aus Bloodsport. Der Donnergott Raiden dagegen ist direkt dem John Carpenter Klassiker „Big Trouble in Little China“ entliehen und der Charakter Sonya Blade hingegen zieht nicht umsonst den Skorpion-Kick von Cynthia Rothrock aus der Trickkiste. Apropos Skorpion… Haben wir schon erwähnt, dass das Mortal-Komabt-Franchise über Ninjas in allen Farben des Regenbogens verfügt? Wie also sollte ein heranwachsender Martial-Arts-Fan wie Commodore Schmidlabb da nein sagen können? Und wie sollte er sich nicht wie ein Schneekönig (aka Sub-Zero) über das Erscheinen des ersten Mortal-Kombat-Kinofilms im Jahre 1995 freuen? Doch während der erst Film die hohen Erwartungen erfüllte und ein kleiner Kultfilm wurde, sollte es das Filmfranchise nicht immer gut mit ihm meinen. Schon die Fortsetzung Moral Kombat Annihilation war ein echter Dolchstolz und gilt als einer der schlechtesten Filme aller Zeiten. Es sollte nicht die letzte Enttäuschung bleiben… Doch wäre der olle Schmidlabb ein echter Mortal-Kombat-Fan, wenn er seine Mitstreiter*innen nicht überzeugen würde, den Reboot der Videospielreihe als Anlass zu nehmen, das komplette Filmfranchise unter die Lupe zu nehmen? Es gibt nämlich weit mehr Filme, als die breite Öffentlichkeit realisiert. Vom filmischen Fatality bis zum Flawless Victory ist alles dabei. Und haben wir schon erwähnt, dass es einen Mortal-Kombat-Film aus Ghana gibt? Aber es kommt noch besser. Es ist Commodore Schmidlabb gelungen, nicht nur die Kollegen seines eigenen Podcast zu bequatschen. OU opened the season with an impressive 73-0 win over Arkansas State. Lee says he's incredibly pleased with the way the Sooners played. Dillon Gabriel played the best game of his career, and it was nice to see an extended appearance from Jackson Arnold (1:25). The OU pass catchers showed a lot of promise (9:00). Tawee Walker looked like OU's best running back on a day when that group was overall just fine (12:50). Gavin Freeman's punt return TD was fantastic and we hope that leads to more impressive special teams plays (19:40). Grant wants to praise a couple of the young TEs for some nice plays, and Lee has some positive words for Jeff Lebby (22:50). Or you could stay home and enjoy the latest season of televisions greatest show, the Mandalorian. Mando, Grogu, Drax, and Groot, oh my! The Springtime isn't known for giving one the blues but that doesn't mean there aren't reasons to complain. The United States Supreme Court has stooped to a level of corruption previously unimagined. Are there any non-corrupt judges? Judges aren't the only crooked people in authority, just ask the Greenwood Village Police. Not as bad as corruption, but getting sick when the weather is nice, SUUUUUCKS. Just ask Break. Not only does it suck but the way some graduating students are being treated is cruel! Punishing children because their parents can't afford to pay for something that should be FREE. The Sweetoes are proof that Spring is in the air and the pollen is clouding their judgement. Frank can't help but celebrate the good news on the home front. Break can't help but gloat when he sees evil people being punished. Sometimes, there is justice in America. Even more rare than justice is the unexpected team-up of two polarizing politicians, AOC and Matt Gaetz.  Do you still need more proof that it is Spring, then here is proof positive. A brand-new tournament! This time the Grinders start the process of choosing the Greatest Fighting Game of All Time. Not to use a bad pun but the gloves are off!
