This week we have a young chef who has already made his mark on the culinary world at 17! He was on chopped at 14 and hasn't slowed down since. He has struggled with Tourettes his whole life and credits cooking as on of the things that helped him and is now a Tourettes Youth Ambassador! We will also be bringing back Tanner Gers, an amazing athlete, consultant, motivational speaker, and founder of The Athlete Summit. He competed in the London 2012 Paralympic Games and won gold in the long jump at the 2012 U.S. Paralympic Track & Field Trial. But he is not here to talk about his athletics, he is going to share his story of a young man whose girlfriend struggled with an eating disorder, and share a boys perspective. Lorna will be talking to us today about her life journey; At the age of 20, she ran away from her life by jumping on a plane to the other side of the world for 5 years where she didn't know anyone, had to learn a new language and start over. Struggling with her brother's suicide and father's sudden death, she didn't know how else to get away from her depression and loss of purpose. Today she is an international corporate trainer and motivational speaker in how to communicate with confidence, diplomacy and impact - especially under stress. At 15 Jessica developed a cluster of symptoms that were interfering with her health and well being. This included rapid weight gain, cystic acne, hair loss, insomnia, no periods and hirsutism. After numerous doctors appointments and 7 years later, she was diagnosed with PCOS. She began seeking alternative medicine therapies such as Chinese Doctors, Homeopaths, Naturopaths, Dieticians, and Nutritionists when doctors could only suggest going on birth control to manage her hormones. In 2017 after gaining knowledge and independent research, Jessica decided to go off the pill and try and manage her PCOS naturally. Jessica discovered that she couldn't find any user friendly information or videos out there for women with PCOS, especially on Youtube. That's when Jessica Diana was created. She wanted a safe space for women to chat about PCOS, hormones, health, fitness and nutrition, and explore together the many ways in which PCOS has affected their lives. Christa Rasmussen is 33 year old dancer turned nutrition student who believes that everyone has the right to a healthy life- authentic to them and their needs. ‘ I was raised in a health conscious family who believes in naturepathic medicine and eating whole, good, locally sustainable food. My heritage is Scandinavian, Scottish so our plates were full of root veg, pickled preserves, good meats and seafood. Simple food with big flavours. They wanted us to have access and the opportunity to have a good immune system and enjoy cooking. We love cooking, it’s important family time for us. As I grew up I’ve shifted between, eating meat, to vegaterian to vegan to pescatariannow I’m very much an intuitive eater. A balance of meat, seafood, whole fruits and veg- I really listen to what my body needs. Leading up the the last 2 years I was really attracted the health industry so I made a career change. Being a dancer since I was 6 I’ve had my fair share of injuries and health struggles so it was the next natural step to where I wanted my life to go. Now we are here !

Australian actress Kelly Pantaleoni merged her passion for writing and creating purpose-driven content to now make movies with a message. Producing a drama on mental health last year in Vancouver that she wrote and starred in, “40 seconds” is now doing the film circuit and is a finalist in two international festivals. Traveling to Uganda in November 2019 right after she wrapped 40 seconds, Kelly filmed a documentary while volunteering in a village and capturing the stories of village women whom she was helping with her non profit organization Give Backpackers. Her latest corona comedy “50 shades of Quarantine” is premiering at the Portland Comedy film festival in october 2020.
Leah Ruane recently graduated Summa Cum Laude with her B.A. in Theatre with a concentration in Acting for Theatre, TV, and Film, and with minors in Dance and Psychology. Anaïsa grew up all over the world - Mozambique, the US, then France, before moving to Vancouver to pursue a BFA in Film, Video & Integrated Media at Emily Carr University. Subsequently, Anaïsa worked in equipment rentals for 5 years before returning to school for her Masters Degree in Film Production and Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia. She dedicates most of her spare time to writing, directing, and producing her own independent film work, and to helping others make their projects. In addition, she is the administrator of an online network: Womxn Filmmakers of BC, which unites women, genderqueer, trans and non-binary folk working in film. Anaïsa has won numerous awards, including the 2017 Vancouver Mayor’s Arts Award for Emerging Artist in Film & New Media, and the 2018 Women in Film and Television Spotlight Award for Newcomer. In her spare time, Anaïsa enjoys reading, watching TV, drinking tea, attempting to keep plants alive, and spending time with her 2 cats.
Katherine was raised in Alberta and now lives on Vancouver Island with her family and dog! She enjoys yoga, delicious food, walking her dog and traveling- whether it's across the world or even just camping up island. A few years ago Katherine was diagnosed with Trigemimal Neuralgia, a rare neuropathic condition that causes intense, debilitating pain along her trigeminal nerve in her face. Through many many doctors appointments and trying many different healing methods Katherine is now living pain free. Along this journey she faced up to and treated mental health issues and is hoping you find some inspiration in her story!

Ty is open with his struggle with mental health and substance abuse, which began in High School and sent him into the journey of Recovery throughout University. His passion for holistic recovery and well-being led him to a career in social services and he now partners his passion for film with service for others. He now works with the Canadian Mental Health Association & Foundry Vancouver to help youth struggling with substance abuse & mental disorders. He credits his own recovery journey for the gift of helping others.
