Resveratrol + Copper Research, Plus Grain-Free Strategies for Stalled Weight Loss: Leyla Muedin, a registered dietitian nutritionist, answers listener emails. She reviews a small India study (BJC Reports, published September 30, 2025) in which 10 glioblastoma patients awaiting surgery received resveratrol (5.6 mg) and copper (560 ng) four times daily for about 11.6 days, compared with 10 controls; the combination generated reactive oxygen species that deactivated cell-free chromatin particles in the tumor microenvironment and reduced cancer hallmarks. Asked whether this could be prophylactic against cancer, she says it is unknown and requires replication in larger studies, advising supplement use be discussed with a practitioner. She then addresses grain elimination for stalled weight loss: replace grains with more meat and non-starchy vegetables, think beyond typical breakfast foods by using leftovers, and use small portions of starchy vegetables (e.g., squash or potato) if starch helps sleep. She recommends investigating root causes of anxiety and poor sleep and suggests moderation for foods like oatmeal.

On today's Good Day Health Show - ON DEMAND…Dr. Jack Stockwell, a NUCCA Chiropractor and GAPS Practitioner in SLC, UT (866.867.5070 | ForbiddenDoctor.com | JackStockwell.com), covers the the biggest news in the health and wellness space from a holistic, naturopath perspective. In this episode, Dr. Jack dives into the cold and flu season, which also coincide with when most of us are at the height of being Vitamin D deficient. This begins a conversation on the benefits of Vitamin D, as well the symptoms of being deficient, and the differences of synthetic Vitamin D supplements over whole food Vitamin D supplements. Then, Dr. Jack dives into the debate between raw milk and pasteurized milk, the benefits of raw milk, and why it's far more difficult to get. Vitamin D naturally occurs in raw milk, but pasteurized milk has the option to purchase with Vitamin D added, and it's always the synthetic version. Continuing with the conversation on Vitamin D, Dr. Jack shares the importance of getting direct sunshine for 30 minutes a day can give you enough Vitamin D to show benefits. When taken in supplemental form, the best form of whole food Vitamin D is real, pure cod liver oil. Unfortunately, most cod liver oils are now industrially produced from the livers of inferior fish. The oil is heavily treated with most brands removing the Vitamins A & D for synthetic replacements. This is because the natural Vitamins A & D is that they will break down, when it's exposed to air it will oxidize. Doug joins the conversation where he and Dr. Jack address listener questions, including the new upside-down food pyramid, the importance of healthy proteins and healthy fats. In this episode, I'm joined by Aaron, a family physician who explains why most doctors get surprisingly little training in nutrition — and how that gap shaped the way medicine treats chronic disease. Aaron shares how his upbringing influenced his relationship with sugar, why Type 2 diabetes in kids has risen so dramatically.Aaron also talks about the personal turning point that changed his approach to health: adopting his daughter and fighting to support her with real food instead of default medical “standard care.”We also talk about why real food — including healthy fats — simplifies so much of the confusion around sugar and processed foods... and why meaningful change in healthcare may need to come from the bottom up, with patients becoming more informed and asking better questions.Find Aaron's book here.To get personalized guidance to stop emotional eating and break free from cravings, plus support and accountability... apply here to join the 90-day program, Freedom from Cravings Formula TODAY.Do the Cravings Quiz and take the first step to get rid of your cravings! Nutritionist Leyla Muedin discusses the renaming of fatty liver disease to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (M-A-S-L-D) to reduce stigma and improve diagnosis. Dr. Mary Ella's efforts at the University of Chicago Medicine highlight how this change aids in better patient identification and treatment. Leyla emphasizes lifestyle changes like a low-carb diet to manage and reverse the disease. The episode also covers the prevalence of fake extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) on the market, ways to identify authentic olive oil, and the importance of choosing quality over mass-produced options.
In this episode, Dr. Jockers explains why dangerous belly fat isn't a calorie issue but a hormone issue, and why insulin control is the real key to fat loss. You'll learn how visceral fat actively drives inflammation, aging, and chronic disease, even in people who appear healthy on the outside. This sets the foundation for understanding what actually blocks fat burning in the body. You'll discover how elevated insulin locks the body into fat-storage mode and why common symptoms like cravings, brain fog, stubborn weight, and low energy are warning signs of insulin resistance. The episode connects these symptoms to deeper metabolic dysfunction rather than willpower or discipline. You'll also learn the daily habits that flip your metabolism from storing fat to burning it, including how food quality, sleep, movement, and muscle directly impact insulin levels. Along the way, Dr. Jockers shares practical strategies that improve metabolic flexibility while leaving room for deeper insights as you listen. The protocol is erratic and contradicts itself. (8:30) Epidemiological studies are not always accurate. Dr. Mary Newport has been on the show and specifically studies cognitive decline.
