It's something so often spoken about, but never unpacked... until now. Host Darcie McDonald and former NRL star Josh Mansour break down the role an 'enforcer' plays in the NRL. Also in today's episode, Mansour offers Parramatta and rookie Blaize Talagi some fairly blunt advice. The pair also dissect whether Trent Barrett should swallow his pride and stay with the Eels.

The Preview Podcast goes up another gear this week with the launch of the Harvey Norman Women's Premiership for season 2024. The Parramatta Eels have announced both their inaugural squad and Round 1 team as Sixties and Forty20 analyse a team rich in pathways talent and how they line up for a clash against the Sea Eagles. The Flegg, Cup and NRL are all in action against the Rabbitohs this week. For the Under 21s it is now must-win territory after dropping games against the Raiders and Knights. Reserve grade however find themselves just one win outside of the Top 6 and with a huge chance to kick down the door this week against the Bunnies. Debuts for Jake Tago and Charlie Guymer punctuate the preview for the NRL. Trent Barrett continues to tap into the spring of youth amidst Parramatta's struggles as these two debuts follow that of Matthew Arthur last week. Mitchell Moses is fired up and Forty20 thinks that will bring out more of the best in him this week but will it be enough to upset the Rabbitohs?
Michael Chammas and Danny Weidler join Sam Ferris to discuss NSW's Origin camp, coach Michael Maguire's pointed remarks to rival coach Billy Slater, Chammy's in-depth chat with Latrell Mitchell, the Eels coaching search, Shane Richardson's takedown of News Corp and the old Tigers regime and where the NRL will expand to next. Clinton Gutherson and Mitchell Moses are back! The Tip Sheet gets a slight Lord of the Rings theme this week as the boys sound the horn for the return of the King (mixing up movies but who is counting?). How does the team shape up now that the star fullback and halfback have returned? Team List Tuesday yields some surprises as Trent Barrett starts to shape the squad in his image. The club announced the community focused Eels Foundation while the search for a new head coach continues. Round 12 saw some blow out scores and some gritty wins against the odds, which teams found themselves on right side of that ledger? The boys take a first look at the State of Origin squads while the Integrity Unit has made its moves regarding Braydon Trindall and Taylan May.

A week of turmoil culminates in the Parramatta Eels clashing with the team that beat team for the services of Wayne Bennett in the South Sydney Rabbitohs. With Indigenous Round as the backdrop for the Round 12 meeting, can Trent Barrett guide the Eels to a bounceback win? Before that though there are two other games of footy to play with the Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup also in action on Saturday. The Flegg are coming off a global bye and need to find a way to upset the 4th placed Rabbitohs while the Cup are flying high and starting to make some legitimate noise in the upper bracket of the ladder.
The Tip Sheet continues to explore a critical juncture for the Parramatta Eels in the week they sacked head coach Brad Arthur. Forty20 and Clint examine the latest developments on that front and beyond in another busy episode. Wayne Bennett has rejeceted the Eels, choosing to stick with South Sydney...so where does that leave our club? Who sticks out as the prime candidates to helm Parramatta and which ones fit the criteria laid out in the club's press conference on Tuesday? For his part, Brad Arthur continues to be nothing but class after speaking to a host of media outlets on his 50th birthday. Team List Tuesday yielded almost nothing new for fans in a surprising twist. Trent Barrett hasn't rocked the boat in his first week in charge and the boys try to puzzle out the why of it all. The Magic Round debrief covers a hugely successful weekend for the NRL as the boys look at a spread of closely fought games and terrific attendence. The pre-Origin carnage continues with Cameron Munsters and Kotoni Staggs now joining a galaxy of other stars on the sidelines. Another negative news story is circling involving Taylan May and the show addresses the alleged situation before closing out on a positive note with a celebration of the upcoming Indigenous Round.
In this episode you didn't see what you thought you saw. Trent Barrett is the saviour of the Parramatta Eels, Cliff Lyons was really good at Rugby League, the next NRL broadcasting deal and leveraging the NRL's PNG expansion to get the game back on the ABC, South Sydney are really bad at Rugby League, Matthew Johns political commentary is to be ignored and NRL game previews for Round 12. There's been plenty of talk this week about the return of Kyle Flanagan to the Bulldogs first grade side. After spending the first month of the competition in reserve grade, Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett has called him into the first grade team for their clash against reigning Premiers, the Panthers. In the build up to the match, there's been criticism over the decision from the club claiming they're “throwing Kyle Flanagan to the wolves” by naming him this week. But father, former NRL coach and member of The Continuous Call Team, Shane Flanagan has set the record straight and defended the decision. “Kyle couldn't care who he was playing against this week, he just wants to get out there and play first grade,” he said. “I can understand some people's perception that he's been thrown in the deep end against Penrith, but if it's time for him to play, it's time for him to play.” Shane confirmed that new Bulldogs head of football Phil Gould has been part of the process over the last few months. “I met with Gus last year, and we spoke about his plan to reset Kyle, let him enjoy himself in reserve grade and then get him playing first grade,” he said. “And to his credit, the club have followed through and done that.” Click play below to hear Shane Flanagan's comments.
