The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a story for every generation it seems. Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael have become timeless as have Master Splinter, April O'Neil, Casey Jones and The Sheredder. But what about The Turtles final story? Since our season we have discussed covering the highly praised story The Last Ronin. Touted as the end or perhaps a possible end for our favorite Heroes on the Half-Shell. Season 19, Episode 6: Brew Session (Blossoming Tortoise) + Flashback (Spiteful Hexmage) Yertle the Turtle was king of them all. Yertle the Turtle had a great fall. But while he was down there, he also milled a few helpful lands, and set up a game-winning infinite combo. David's favorite card from Wilds of Eldraine takes center stage in our final brew session of Season 19. Blossoming Tortoise boasts the all-powerful Titan clause, combining card advantage and ramp every time it attacks. What's more, the built-in selection from the self-mill finds specialty lands like Mutavault and Lavaclaw Reaches that combine with Tortoise's cost reduction for infinite activations. Is that enough to secure the win? That's the question on our minds as we explore a half dozen ways to unlock Turtle Power in Pioneer and Modern. This week's episode has all the toppings. Kevin Eastman, Jeff Rowe, Tom Waltz, Gavin Smith, Vincenzo Federici, Sarah Myer, Ben Bishop, Esau Escorza, and Isaac Escorza. If you're a shellhead, you're already flipping out. If you're not, you soon will be. There is no better time to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan. No matter your favorite iteration, there is a comic, cartoon, or movie for you. Brought forth from the sewers nearly forty years ago by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman, the Ninja Turtles have since been filtered through numerous creative minds. From the moment the first toy was conceived, reinvention became critical to their success, and with each new interpretation, something radical was injected into their DNA. Currently, we have a new movie (TMNT: Mutant Mayhem) streaming on Paramount+, the monthly ongoing IDW series, the Saturday Morning Adventures spin-off, and several gnarly crossovers, including encounters with Stranger Things and Street Fighter. In February, The Last Ronin II: Re-Evolution will hit comic book shops, satisfying a ravenous craving we've been holding onto since the first bestselling series dropped. We transformed New York Comic-Con into a TMNT expedition. First, we spoke with Kevin Eastman one-on-one, navigating his experience with outside creative influence and exploring exactly how he felt about the changes and additions made to the lore in TMNT: Mutant Mayhem. Second, we moderated the big Saturday panel, "TMNT: The Next Mutation of Turtle Power from IDW Publishing," which featured all the totally tubular people listed in the first paragraph above. Today's episode gets into everything that's cooking over at IDW, from exclusive details about The Last Ronin II to Sophie Campbell's historic climax on the main IDW line to director Jeff Rowe's dreams for a Mutant Mayhem sequel. We've discussed the Ninja Turtles several times before (see the links below), and it's all been building toward this episode. As always, Omnibus, the Digital Comic Store and Reader, sponsors our Referrals segment. This week, we selected two comic book titles on the app that satisfy this episode's themes. We won't spoil what they are here, but if you click the links below, you'll be immediately escorted to the books. Is THIS For Kids? Podcast Episode 4 | TURTLE POWER: Is the New TMNT Movie Kid-Friendly? In this exciting episode of “Is THIS For Kids?”, we're diving deep into the sewers to uncover whether the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is a hit or miss for kids and families — and contrast this one with the 1990 original. Our hosts Jonathan Blevins (@BeardedBlevins) and Katie Ruvi (@MrsRuvi) are here to break it all down! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been a beloved part of many childhoods for decades, but with each new iteration, parents are left wondering if it's safe for their little ones to join Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael on their pizza-fueled adventures. In this episode, we'll discuss: * The film's themes and messages – are they suitable for young audiences? * The abundance of action-packed scenes, and whether they might be too intense or graphic for kids. * The humor and pop culture references – will parents be laughing alongside their children? Join us as we slice through the pizza, dissect the ninja moves, and provide parents with the information they need to decide if the new TMNT movie is a family-friendly flick — or if it's better suited for a night out with the adults. Whether you're a lifelong Turtles fan or just a parent seeking guidance on the latest flicks, this episode is sure to leave you informed and entertained.
