Welcome to Eyes & Teeth The Worlds Greatest Variety Show, Season 15 edition 6 with the one and only Harry Hill.Harry is about to embark on a new UK Tour with his new musical Tony Blair the Rock Opera. So today we catch up and talk about his work as a stand up comedian, musical producer, admirer of ventriloquists and their dummies, Sean Lock and much more. Harry's success on television brought him awards and millions of fans but it was his decision to end the TV show that made him a household name as the schedule was gruelling and besides he is now able to tour his Stand Up show, write more books, collaborate with Steve Brown on exciting projects as well as be at home with his family instead of watching 12 hours of TV dramas and soaps for little comedy nuggets. Until I read his biography FIGHT I didn't know how much hands on harry was in putting together these clips but that is the main reason he wanted more freedom after a good 10 years on ITV. My wife Nina & I loved the show so much we went along to one of the recordings to see the magic happen and he had us in hysterics as usual. One thing Harry does have as well as his successful career is that he has his charm laid back nature and I was delighted he agreed to our chat on Eyes & Teeth and its just in time to mention that the Tony Blair Rock Opera is now on sale at the Leicester Square Theatre and is on from April 15th to my 21st before going on a National Tour.Oh while I'm here my theatre Tour Ventriloquest – A Life in the Day of Arthur Lager continues April to August and can be seen in Hunstanton, Southampton, Hastings, Bungay Norfolk, Saddleworth, Verwood Dorset, Eastbourne, Chelmsford, Stafford, Axminster, Shanklin IOW, Ivybridge, Bromyard midlands, Haverhill Suffolk, Paighton and Ilfracombe in DEVON.Got to www.thestevehewlettshow.com for dates. Now its time for a special edition of Eyes & Teeth with Harry Hill

This week we review - Harry Hill's World Of TV (Series 1 Episode 4)Whether this is one of those programmes that defies description, doesn't inspire people to write more than the title or just so obviously "does what it says on the tin", the most that we could find written in explanation about Harry Hill's world Of TV was "Harry Hill takes the lid off a different genre of TV each week'.In fairness, he does use amusing clips from the archives to have a laugh at different genres of telly, such as soaps and medical dramas, so that does pretty well sum up the show.Very obviously drawing from the successful formula of the ITV show Harry Hill's TV Burp and despite the similarities, the BBC have perhaps wisely chosen to exclude the titular gastric expulsion.Written by Harry HillProduced by David Price & Sam TerroniDirected by Barry CastagnolaA NIT Production for BBC.Harry Hill's World Of TV is available here: https://bbc.in/3hjHSAg The Comedy Slab Podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spreaker, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, Spotify and Youtube. You've also seen him in the new Mortal Kombat as Kano, along with roles in The Eleven O'Clock and Anchorman 2. Lawson is the writer-director of the romantic comedy, Long Story Short. The movie stars Rafe Spall and Zahra Newman. I'm Philip Holden and this is Ideas in Writing - the podcast where we talk to people about words and books and the how, why, when and where of writing. The guests bring along a word and so do I...it's all downhill from there on...In this episode I talk to the award-winning writer David Quantick whose TV credits include The Day Today, So Graham Norton, Harry Hill's TV Burp and Veep for which he won an Emmy. he's also written and presented shows on radio and TV and has now written several novels and books about the craft of writing.Given that I was speaking to a comedy writer, there is a spectacularly badly judged and poorly delivered joke at about the 1 hour mark..from me. If you are of a sensitive disposition etc etc...The word David brought along was wednesday not in itself an interesting definition, but it leads on to the curious word 'hebdomad'. My word, absurdism isn't there, but absurd and surrealism are both so you can explore these words at the fun Visuwords dictionary just by clicking them. Take a look at the links below to order David's books or some of the other titles we mentioned.Ideas in Writing is produced with the support of Mr Books Bookshop in Tonbridge - the home of inspiring, imaginative and intelligent books, gifts and conversation.
