Send us a textSeason 2, Episode 38We are delighted to welcome this weeks guest Angharad Binder(Public Health Nurse) in the agricultural sector, delivering the Rural Communities Cancer Project with Farming Community Network (FCN) & Macmillan in the South East of England.Resources (‘Nip it in the Bud' campaign)People in rural communities often have more advanced cancer when they are diagnosed and are 5% less likely to survive than people in urban areas.Farmers often won't get checked until the last minute. We need your help to change this. This campaign have developed a range of resources which can be utilised to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage early detection, and to back our campaign. Resources below are free to use and can be widely shared and printed off.Download our ‘Nip it in the Bud' campaign pack and help them to raise awareness of cancer in farming and rural communities. This contains key messages and information about how to get involved. The FCN are involved in a UK-wide partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support which is helping to improve the support available to those living with cancer in farming communities and rural areas. As part of this partnership FCN is working closely with Macmillan Cancer Support, including raising awareness in rural communities of the signs and symptoms of cancer and building referral bridges to and from Macmillan's services.Farmers, farm workers and people living in rural communities can have lower access to cancer services and support due to the nature of their work and rural life in often isolated areas.Farmers can be particularly at-risk of certain types of cancer – such as skin cancer, prostate cancer, or cancers caused by exposure to carcinogens.Cancer can impact a family business that may employ many people and can have significant impacts on an individual and their families – including their housing and extended family situation, or immediate welfare issues for livestock.FCN can be contacted in confidence on 03000 111 999, 7am-11pm, 365 days of the year. Speak to an empathetic volunteer who understands farming life. The Macmillan Support Line is available on 0808 808 00 00, seven days a week, 8am to 8pm.Further information about cancer and support available is available on FCN's FarmWell websiteNo Joke of the week this week but Martin has something very special lined up for next weeks Podcast, don't miss it.Check out our website at www.whostomanddick.com

Send us a textEpisode 32 of Season 2Another special guest today Tom Richard who has Hirschsprung's Disease and runs his own Podcast called "The Hirschsprung's hour with Tom Richard" and can be found on all Podcast platforms.Today Tom tells us all about Hirschsprung's Disease, he was diagnosed with as a newborn baby, and how it nearly took his life. Tom's tells us openly and honestly his story, his life growing up with this disease, how he managers it today, what the future holds and how he has turned into a positive within his life through his Podcast connecting across the world with others who have this disease. What causes Hirschsprung's Disease muscles of the bowel are controlled by nerve cells called ganglion cells. In Hirschsprung's disease, ganglion cells are missing from a section at the end of bowel, extending up from the anus (the opening in the bottom that poo passes through). For some reason, the cells did not develop in that area when the baby was growing in the womb. It's not clear why this happens, but it's not thought to be caused by anything the mother did while she was pregnant.A number of genes are associated with Hirschsprung's disease and it does sometimes run in families. If you have had a child with it before, you're more likely to have another child with it.#HirschsprungsDisease#HeartTransplant#EbsteinsAnomaly#RareCondition#HealthJourney#LifeChangingDiagnosis#MentalHealth#Vulnerability#SelfCompassion#PostTraumaticGrowth#MedicalMiracle#BBCSports#Inspiration#Cardiology#Surgery#Podcast#Healthcare#HeartHealth#MedicalBreakthrough#EmotionalJourney#SupportSystem#HealthcareHeroes#PatientStories#CardiologyCare#MedicalJourney#LifeLessons#MentalWellness#HealthAwareness#InspirationalTalk#LivingWithIllness#RareDiseaseAwareness#SharingIsCaring#MedicalSupport#BBCReporter#HeartDisease#PodcastInterview#HealthTalk#Empowerment#Wellbeing#HealthPodcast#ChronicIllnessCheck out our new website at www.whostomanddick.comCheck out our website at www.whostomanddick.com
Send us a textSeason 2 - Episode 31In the ring withParkinson's diseaseThe boys are out on their travels again but this time they are visiting a Centre set up for people battling Parkinson's Disease through a Boxercise session.Parkinson's disease is a progressive brain condition that affects movement, balance, and coordination. It's caused by the death of nerve cells in the brain, which leads to symptoms that can worsen over time. After years of progress, a disease that was once considered untreatable has come to show promising advancements when placed in the right hands of Movement Disorders specialists. Equipped with the right tools and an increased understanding, specialists now have the power to vastly improve the quality of life for the patients affected. Dopamine plays a vital role in regulating the movement of the body. A reduction in dopamine is responsible for many of the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Exactly what causes the loss of nerve cells is unclear. Most experts think that a combination of genetic and environmental factors is responsible.Today the boys have the opportunity to speak with Head coach Carl Ambrose about the valuable boxercise sessions he provides for people with Parkinson's Disease and the impact it has on their lives. The Boy's also speak to two participants of the class today, Lisa and David who both have differing levels of Parkinson's disease, they tell us about their illness, their coping mechanisms and what the Boxercise class means to them. This was an eye opening experience for both Martin & Patrick and certainly reinforces how exercise in any form can help illness and just as importantly the mind helping to have a positive mental attitude.#Leemack#Stoma#HeartTransplant#EbsteinsAnomaly#RareCondition#HealthJourney#LifeChangingDiagnosis#MentalHealth#Vulnerability#SelfCompassion#PostTraumaticGrowth#MedicalMiracle#BBCSports#Inspiration#Cardiology#Surgery#Podcast#Healthcare#HeartHealth#MedicalBreakthrough#EmotionalJourney#SupportSystem#HealthcareHeroes#PatientStories#CardiologyCare#MedicalJourney#LifeLessons#MentalWellness#HealthAwareness#InspirationalTalk#LivingWithIllness#RareDiseaseAwareness#SharingIsCaring#MedicalSupport#BBCReporter#HeartDisease#PodcastInterview#HealthTalk#Empowerment#Wellbeing#HealthPodcast#ChronicIllnessCheck out our new website at www.whostomanddick.comwww.milestonefitness>ukCheck out our website at www.whostomanddick.com
Send us a textSeason 2, Episode 30We are firmly in the new year of 2025 and today the boys have another special guest Sue Hughes.Sue is a specialist in the plant based wonder treatment successfully used all around the world Aloe vera.Aloe vera is a succulent plant of the Genus Aloe.It is widely distributed, and is considered an invasive species in many world regions. An evergreen perennial, it originates from the Arabian Peninsula, but also grows wild in tropical, semi-tropical, and arid climates around the world. It is cultivated for commercial products, mainly as a topical treatment used over centuries. The species is considered attractive for decorative purposes, and is often found indoors as a potted plant. The leaves of Aloe vera contain significant amounts of the polysaccharide gel acemannan, which can be used for topical purposes. Aloe skin contains aloin which is toxic. Products made from Aloe vera usually only use the gel and NOT the skin. There are many products containing aloe vera's acemannan, including skin lotions, cosmetics, ointments and gels for minor burns, skin abrasions, insect bites, and windburn and now a drink which can be consumed.Oral ingestion of aloe vera extracts which include the skin can be dangerous, because it causes reactions which are not yet fully understood. It is especially dangerous for pregnant women. Some people have allergic reactions, even when the aloe vera is applied only to the skin. The genus name Aloe is derived from the Arabic word Alloeh, meaning "bitter and shiny substance" or from Hebrew ahalim, plural of Ahal. The specific epithet vera comes from verus meaning "true" in Latin. #HeartTransplant#EbsteinsAnomaly#RareCondition#HealthJourney#LifeChangingDiagnosis#MentalHealth#Vulnerability#SelfCompassion#PostTraumaticGrowth#MedicalMiracle#BBCSports#Inspiration#Cardiology#Surgery#Podcast#Healthcare#HeartHealth#MedicalBreakthrough#EmotionalJourney#SupportSystem#HealthcareHeroes#PatientStories#CardiologyCare#MedicalJourney#LifeLessons#MentalWellness#HealthAwareness#InspirationalTalk#LivingWithIllness#RareDiseaseAwareness#SharingIsCaring#MedicalSupport#BBCReporter#HeartDisease#PodcastInterview#HealthTalk#Empowerment#Wellbeing#HealthPodcast#ChronicIllness#AloeveraCheck out our new website at www.whostomanddick.comCheck out our website at www.whostomanddick.com

Send us a textSeries 2, Episode 21Today the boys have another special guest Federico Barbarossa who is hoping to make a documentary on Homophobia especially in the popular seaside town of Brighton England. Using his personal experiences Federico is hoping to pitch his documentary to mainstream TV here in the UK, having already recorded many interviews with friends, special guest and local business owners. We address today Homophobia in Brighton and generally in our communities and are surprised how this seems to be on the increase mainly down to social media. What is the official definition of homophobia? The homophobia definition is the fear, hatred, discomfort with, or mistrust of people who are lesbian, gay, or bisexual.Homophobia, like most phobias, is distinguished by an irrational fear of gay people or gay behavior. Gays have fought long and hard for the rights we have had recognised under our Constitution...but make no mistake about it.... homophobia and anti-gay attitudes are alive and well across our land and around the world.Coined by George Weinberg, a psychologist, in the 1960s, the term homophobia is a blend of (1) the word homosexual, itself a mix of neo-classical morphemes, and (2) phobia from the Greek φόβος, phóbos, meaning "fear", "morbid fear" or "aversion". Weinberg is credited as the first person to have used the term in speech.#getheartcharged#charliekirkman# Stroke# Subarachnoid hemorrhage#Mediastinal Germ Cell Tumour#Prostate Cancer#Bronchiectasis#CharcotmarietoothDisease#Emphysema#The after life#Ghosts#Spirts#Ouija boards#Mediums#Psychics#Reincarnation#HeartTransplant#EbsteinsAnomaly#RareCondition#HealthJourney#LifeChangingDiagnosis#MentalHealth#Vulnerability#SelfCompassion#PostTraumaticGrowth#MedicalMiracle#BBCSports#Inspiration#Cardiology#Surgery#Podcast#HealthcareCheck out our website at www.whostomanddick.com
Send us a textIt's already Episode 20 of Season 2 as we roll into winter 2024.Again this week the boy's are lucky to have two Guests Bethany Keime and Charlie Kirkman, both have different heart conditions, Bathany and twin sister Hannah both suffer from Hypertropic Cardiomyopathy whilst Charlie has Arrhythmia.Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a condition in which muscle tissues of the heart become thickened without an obvious cause. The parts of the heart most commonly affected are the interventricular septum and the ventricles. This is is most often caused by abnormal genes in the heart muscle. These genes cause the walls of the heart chamber (left ventricle) to become thicker than normal. The thickened walls may become stiff and this can reduce the amount of blood taken in and pumped out to the body with each heartbeat. How is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy treated?Activity limits. ...Preventing dehydration. ...Medicines to treat shortness of breath and chest pain. ...Medicines to help prevent abnormal heart rhythms. ...Anticoagulants. ...Septal myectomy. ...Alcohol septal ablation. ...Implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).An Arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat, is a problem with the rhythm or rate of your heartbeat. Your heart may beat too quickly, too slowly, or with an irregular rhythm. It is normal for your heart rate to speed up during physical activity and to slow down while resting or sleeping but with Arrhythmia this can be irregular anytime. While Arrhythmias can be a serious condition that can affect your health, there are also treatments available to help. By following a treatment plan and making heart healthy lifestyle changes, you can learn how to live with a cardiac arrhythmia. In today's Interview Bethany & Charlie tell us openly and honestly about their conditions from diagnosis to how the deal with it today and in everyday life.Bethany & sister Hannah are two remarkable twins who have taken this illness head on and realised there are others like themselves undiagnosed. Their experience as young teenagers soon discovered there was little information available and resorted to Google to explore their condition. Social Media Patient Community did not exist, so Bethany & Hannah set about correcting this by starting their own Social media presence "Heart Charged" in hope to reach out to those with this condition and those still to be diagnosed. They made us aware that as young women it was hard to get healthcare professionals to take them seriously with their health issues, simply sidelining them and saying "It's all part of growing up as a young Women" It wasn't until a member of the family discovered they had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy that both Bethany & Hannah were then checked for this Condition. These young women have gone from strength to strength and this is how they met Charlie through Their social media connections and recent success with the "Sudden Cardiac Art" Exhibition in the UK, now destined for Southern California.#getheartcharged#charliekirkman# Stroke# Subarachnoid hemorrhage#Mediastinal Germ Cell Tumour#Prostate Cancer#Bronchiectasis#CharcotmarietoothDisease#Emphysema#The after life#Ghosts#Spirts#Ouija boards#Mediums#Psychics#Reincarnation#HeartTransplant#EbsteinsAnomaly#RareCondition#HealthJourney#LifeChangingDiagnosis#MentalHealth#Vulnerability#SelfCompassion#PostTraumaticGrowth#MedicalMiracle#BBCSports#Inspiration#Cardiology#Surgery#Podcast#HealthcareCheck out our website at www.whostomanddick.com

Send us a textSeason 2 - Episode 14This weeks episode is all about Stroke's a subject we have yet to cover. What is a stroke, In medicine, a loss of blood flow to part of the brain, which damages brain tissue. Strokes can be caused by blood clots and broken blood vessels in the brain but in todays case it was a Subarachnoid hemorrhage that was the cause. Today's special guest Lesley Atherton tells us her story and her road to recovery in remarkable time purely to her grit and determination and with the support of her professional team family and friends not forgetting her dogs.A subarachnoid hemorrhage is bleeding in the space between your brain and the membrane that covers it. Most often, it occurs when a weak area in a blood vessel (aneurysm) on the surface of the brain bursts and leaks. The blood then builds up around the brain and inside the skull. We are so blessed with our guests and today is no exception, Lesley tells us her story from the moment she realised something was wrong right through her treatment, rehabilitation and to present days. She explains what drove her to her recovery, where she found inspiration and what she had to do to get back up on her feet and start living live again after a Stroke. How to identify a strokeThe FAST acronym (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) is a test to quickly identify if someone is having a stroke.Face weakness: Can the person smile? Has their mouth or eye drooped?Arm weakness: Can the person raise both arms?Speech problems: Can the person speak clearly and understand what you say?Time to call 999: if you see any of these signs.Thank you all once again for listening and we thank Lesley for joining us today and openly and honestly telling us her remarkable story# Stroke# Subarachnoid hemorrhage#Mediastinal Germ Cell Tumour#Prostate Cancer#Bronchiectasis#CharcotmarietoothDisease#Emphysema#The after life#Ghosts#Spirts#Ouija boards#Mediums#Psychics#Reincarnation#HeartTransplant#EbsteinsAnomaly#RareCondition#HealthJourney#LifeChangingDiagnosis#MentalHealth#Vulnerability#SelfCompassion#PostTraumaticGrowth#MedicalMiracle#BBCSports#Inspiration#Cardiology#Surgery#Podcast#Healthcare#HeartHealth#MedicalBreakthrough#EmotionalJourney#SupportSystem#HealthcareHeroes#PatientStories#CardiologyCare#MedicalJourney#LifeLessons#MentalWellness#HealthAwareness#InspirationalTalk#LivingWithIllness#RareDiseaseAwareness#SharingIsCaring#MedicalSupport#BBCRep#bbcupload#papyrusCheck out our new website at www.whostomanddick.comCheck out our website at www.whostomanddick.com

Claude Francois was one of France's most popular recording artists, notably responsible for composing the original version of My Way, amongst other wonderful memorable compositions. This television appearance opened up a new market in France for Nobby's music, taking him on a detour into French films when in 1980 he composed the film score The Big Sky which can still be heard in French cinema's today. The following three years were spent managing a recording studio and rehearsal rooms in Edinburgh's West Saville Terrace, producing many early recordings for artists who later became successful, including Billy McKenzie from The Associates. After a spell of acting in comedy musicals, such as I'm sorry the bridge is out, you'll have to spend the night and A slice of Saturday night. for which he received a number of complimentary reviews, including the theatrical newspaper, The Stage, Nobby took some time out to concentrate on his personal life, before setting out to write and record his first solo album for many years. The album entitled If Only was arranged and produced by his long time friend David Paton who's own band Pilot achieved world-wide success with songs such as Magic, January and Just a Smile to name but a few. He followed up with Going Home, also produced by David Paton. He now presents his third solo album On The Inside. All three albums contain songs that show Nobby's depth of feeling in his lyrics and haunting melodies. His involvement with other artists has continued, working with Kenny Herbert and Rab Howat on their last two albums 8-1-2-1-9-8-0 (to which Nobby contributed the song Slow Down) and playing harmonica and backing vocals on their latest album Songs of our Lives, produced by David Paton.Nobby's concern for the environment has seen him involved with various groups and committee's investigating the best use of renewable energy in the domestic field. He has been fighting for greener areas, where over the years there has been an erosion of playing fields and open spaces. Send us a Text Message.Series / Season IIWell we can hardly believe it, we are kicking off Season 2 (Series 2) with a bang.Martin and Patrick get together for a chat and a discussion all around; The after lifeGhostsSpirtsOuija boardsMediumsPsychicsReincarnationA very interesting discussion (Both serious and humorous) around the part Mediums and Psychics can play after someone has lost someone close.Afterlife is there such a thing? reincarnation does it really exist? There are so many sceptics (Patrick is one) but is he right to laugh it off when so many take these subjects so seriously including Martin who has had his own eerie happenings.Mediumship is the pseudoscientific practice of allegedly mediating communication between familiar spirits or spirits of the dead and living human beings. Practitioners are known as "mediums" or "spirit mediums". There are many types of mediumship or spirit channelling, including séance tables, trance, and ouija.Psychic is a person who has strange mental powers and abilities (such as the ability to predict the future, to know what other people are thinking, or to receive messages from people who have passed) : a person who has psychic powers.Afterlife, continued existence in some form after physiological death. The belief that some aspect of an individual survives after death, usually, the individual's soul is common to the great majority of the world's religions what do you think?Reincarnation is the religious or philosophical belief that the soul or spirit, after biological death, begins a new life in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual depending on the moral quality of the previous life's actions and beliefs.Ghosts, soul or spectre of a dead person, usually believed to inhabit the netherworld and to be capable of returning in some form to the world of the living.OUIJA, used for a board that has the alphabet and other signs on it and that some people believe can be used to communicate with the spirits of dead people.Have you got any thoughts on the subject, if you have please let us know by visiting the website and leaving us a message with your thoughts.Martin's Joke of the week isn't spooky but is it funny, we'll let you decide.#The after life#Ghosts#Spirts#Ouija boards#Mediums#Psychics#Reincarnation#HeartTransplant#EbsteinsAnomaly#RareCondition#HealthJourney#LifeChangingDiagnosis#MentalHealth#Vulnerability#SelfCompassion#PostTraumaticGrowth#MedicalMiracle#BBCSports#Inspiration#Cardiology#Surgery#Podcast#Healthcare#HeartHealth#MedicalBreakthrough#EmotionalJourney#SupportSystem#HealthcareHeroes#PatientStories#CardiologyCare#MedicalJourney#LifeLessons#MentalWellness#HealthAwareness#InspirationalTalk#LivingWithIllness#RareDiseaseAwareness#SharingIsCaring#MedicalSupport#BBCReporter#HeartDisease#PodcastInterview#HealthTalk#Empowerment#Wellbeing#HealthPodcast#ChronicIllness#joepasquale#mywishcharity#comedy#funny#jokeCheck out our new website at www.whostomanddick.comCheck out our new website at www.whostomanddick.com
