Roy Wood Jr. has long used humor to discuss topical issues and get at deeper truths. As a correspondent for The Daily Show, and now as the host of Have I Got News For You on CNN, he brings his own unique sensibility to political comedy. In his new memoir, The Man Of Many Fathers, he goes deep on his complicated relationship with his father, and the role food played in crucial moments of his childhood. Roy tells Dan about elaborate breakfasts he ate in the car with his mom, his father's favorite on-the-road snacks, and the final meal that he made his dad — which left Roy with more questions than answers. This week, Katherine's Telling Everybody Everything about how lovely it was to be back hosting Have I Got News For You on the beloved BBC. How foolish she was to think that it would be calm and uneventful, as feathers were ruffled by the use of 'the C-word'. But hasn't the meaning changed? Is it not fine to say? Oh... Violet nearly gets in trouble as she fancies her self the Mayfair Ja Rule and throws a HUGE halloween party. Katherine remembers she's in a Christmas film. Diplo shares that he was romantically with BOTH Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau. Also, your letters on passive-aggressive baby helpers and being unsure about how to move forward with an unplanned pregnancy. x Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

On the Insurance Coffee House podcast, host Nick Hoadley welcomes Nick Wealthall, Founder of Yellow Door, a leadership and commercial growth consultancy helping insurance organisations and their people unlock performance through better communication, decision-making and mindset.Speaking from London, Nick shares his fascinating career journey from wealth management to professional poker, to comedy writing on shows like Have I Got News For You, before founding Yellow Door to coach senior executives across major insurance firms. With a background spanning finance, broadcasting, and entrepreneurship, Nick brings a unique perspective on how professionals can think and act more like business owners, whether they're brokers, underwriters, or corporate leaders. He explains how lessons from the poker table translate directly to leadership and underwriting: making confident decisions with incomplete information, assessing risk and reward, and maintaining composure under pressure. Drawing parallels between poker, business and insurance, Nick highlights why the most effective leaders are those who embrace uncertainty, make active choices, and refine their process rather than fixating on short-term outcomes.Nick also discusses how brokers and carriers can drive commercial growth and differentiation in increasingly commoditised markets, by deepening client understanding, taking an “outside-in” perspective, and focusing on delivering long-term value rather than transactional wins. He shares practical insights on building trust-based client relationships, fostering entrepreneurial thinking inside large organisations, and leading with intention and self-awareness.In the Espresso Round, Nick reflects on his journey from performer to coach, offering lessons on humility, resilience and curiosity. He encourages insurance professionals to take ownership of their impact, ask “how can I help more?”, and build businesses that grow through genuine human connection.Connect with Nick Wealthall on LinkedIn and learn more about Yellow Door. The Insurance Coffee House Podcast is brought to you by Insurance Search. We are a global Insurance Executive Search Consultancy, supporting Insurance and Insurtech businesses to attract and retain the very best insurance talent.Find out more about showcasing your employer brand as a guest on the Insurance Coffee House Podcast or sign up to our News and Insights.Or follow us on LinkedIn, Twitter or Instagram.Insurance Executive Search Consultants in USA, London and Bermuda.Copyright Insurance Search 2025 - All Rights Reserved.

Special Guest: Ria Lina CheapShow is dabbling in a “little bit of politics” this week when Paul and Eli are joined by special guest, Ria Lina! In a new “Gannon's Golden Games” segment, Paul pulls out a board game based on the topical comedy panel show “Have I Got News For You!”, so luckily the politics and news stories only go up to 2005. Who wins will be anyone's guess! There is also the added bonus that Ria has appeared on HIGNFY herself, so will her experience help her in an off the cuff board game version of the 34 year old TV show? The answer is probably not. Elsewhere in the episode, Ria must take the rites of passage that all first time guests must endure… a classic Price of Shite with Gannon going all out on the tat. How will she fare? Will Eli go easy on the first timer? Can Paul ever be trusted ever again? You may know Roy Wood Jr. from his long stint on The Daily Show, his new CNN comedy show Have I Got News For You, or from his new standup special Lonely Flowers, which you can watch on Hulu. He also got a lot of attention hosting the White House Correspondents' Dinner in 2023, and I got to know him a bit this past December when he was honored by the Alabama Humanities Alliance. Roy lives in New York now, where he often appears on late night talk shows, but he built his career in the South. He studied broadcast journalism at Florida A&M in Tallahassee and worked as morning news reporter in Birmingham, but his true passion was going out on the road for weekend gigs at comedy clubs around the region. Sid talks to Roy about why his mom is the funniest person in his family, his brief obsession with the Popeyes chicken sandwich, and how his Southernness informs his comedy.
