Send us a textLegendary comedian, actor, and writer George Wallace is making his highly anticipated return to St. Louis this weekend for a two-night run at Helium Comedy Club, July 11–12, 2025, with shows at 7:00 PM and 9:15 PM on Friday, and 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM on Saturday. With ticket prices ranging from $41 for general admission to $61 for front row seating, fans are guaranteed an unforgettable night of comedy from one of the most iconic voices in stand-up. George Wallace whose lightning-fast wit, observational brilliance, and unforgettable storytelling have made him one of comedy's most respected figures. Known affectionately as “The New Mr. Vegas,” Wallace enjoyed more than a decade of success headlining his own show in Las Vegas—an unprecedented run that solidified his status as one of the greats in stand-up entertainment.Unlike any other show on the strip, Wallace's performances were interactive, heartfelt, and wildly generous—audiences could walk away with everything from diamond necklaces to tropical cruises, gourmet dinners, and even a new car. His spontaneous audience interactions and “anything can happen” attitude became his signature. Now, Wallace is stepping into a new chapter with Prime Video's upcoming comedy series Clean Slate, where he stars alongside Laverne Cox. The half-hour show—produced by Sony Pictures Television and developed by the late, great Norman Lear—was greenlit on Lear's 100th birthday and stands as a historic final project from the legendary TV pioneer. In Clean Slate, Wallace plays Henry Slate, a traditional, outspoken Alabama car wash owner whose world is turned upside down when his long-estranged child returns home—not as the son he remembers, but as Desiree Slate (Cox), a proud and resilient trans woman. The series explores themes of family, growth, and acceptance, all with Wallace's signature blend of humor and heart.Don't miss your chance to see a true comedy legend LIVE in St. Louis at Helium Comedy Club on July 11–12, 2025. No two shows are ever the same, and with Wallace, one thing is certain—you'll be laughing long after the curtain closes.http://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and brought to you as always by The Barn Media Group. In this week's Hollywood Stories, Richard Rushfield sits down with TV comedy legend Nell Scovell — creator of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and writer for everything from The Simpsons to Late Night with David Letterman. Before breaking into TV, Scovell sharpened her voice at Spy and Vanity Fair, where editors Kurt Andersen and Graydon Carter taught her to “be funnier, go harder, be meaner.” She shares how she defied her agent to leave Vanity Fair and dive into the boys' club of TV writers rooms, a dynamic she was still battling decades later — even on The Muppets in the 2010s.She also opens up about her sharp, hilarious memoir Just the Funny Parts, which she jokes she really wanted to title, “Penis, Penis, Penis, Penis, Me, Penis.” (Scovell: "It would have sold more.") Richard calls it “one of the best memoirs of working in television I've ever read.” Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful Spring. I'm so excited for you to listen to today's episode! If you're a fan of Schitt's Creek, then you know Sarah Levy from playing Twyla in the show-- she also happens to be the daughter of Eugene Levy and the sister of Dan Levy. I had such a fun time hearing the inside scoop on that show, which is one of my favorites of all time, as well as what it was like to grow up in such a funny family. Sarah is currently starring as Aunt Ida in a new horror movie called The Monkey, which is adapted from a Stephen King short story and directed by Osgood Perkins. We talk about how much fun she had doing horror (if you haven't seen the movie yet, it sounds TERRIFYING). Sarah lost her home in the Palisades fire, so the conversation starts in a vulnerable place— but I'm so glad it did, because we get to go deep pretty fast, and I feel like I made a new friend! Be sure to stick around for the hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I talk about the episode and respond to listener fact checks from the Mail Sack! This year marks the 50th anniversary of “Saturday Night Live” – and while many of the “Not Ready for Prime Time Players” have gone on to achieve remarkable careers, few have had as fascinating a journey as Dan Aykroyd's. As the youngest member of the 1975 original cast, Aykroyd quickly became known for his iconic sketches, including parodies of Julia Child and Richard Nixon, the beloved “Two Wild and Crazy Guys,” and the absurd “Bass-o-Matic.” His sketch “The Blues Brothers” not only became a cultural touchstone, but evolved into successful feature films and a live musical act. Aykroyd's talents also extend to behind the camera, as he wrote and starred in the comedy classics “Dragnet,” “Coneheads,” “Spies Like Us” and “Ghostbusters.” Aykroyd's career has earned him numerous accolades, including an Emmy Award and Grammy and Academy Award nominations. He is also an entrepreneur and co-founder of the House of Blues music venues and Crystal Head Vodka. In this conversation, host Alec Baldwin speaks with Aykroyd about the early days of “SNL,” the evolution of his career into music and dramatic roles, and how his upbringing helped shape the creation of “Ghostbusters.”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
