Action Movie Anatomy hosts Ben Bateman and Andrew Ghai break down Drive! Drive is a 2011 American neo-noir crime thriller film directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. The screenplay by Hossein Amini is based on the 2005 novel of the same name by James Sallis. It stars Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks, Ron Perlman, Oscar Isaac and Albert Brooks. Like the book, the film is about an unnamed Hollywood stunt performer(Gosling) who moonlights as a getaway driver. Prior to its September 2011 release, it had been shown at a number of film festivals. At the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, Drive was praised and received a standing ovation. Winding Refn won the festival's Best Director Award for the film. Reviews from critics have been positive, with many drawing comparisons to work from previous eras. Drive no es sólo la sangrienta venganza de un conductor sin nombre, es algo más, es un conflicto interior, es la imposibilidad de escapar del pasado, es la negra estrella que se cierne sobre un grupo de vidas solitarias, es una historia de robos y sus consecuencias, es el retrato clásico de unos perdedores, pero sobre todo es una historia de amor, es una vida que se escapa en un parpadeo, pues la vida es movimiento, cambio, agitación, ya sabemos que solo los afortunados olvidan...contada con estética y pausa, con amor por el cine y riesgo por fusionar nuevas formas de conmover, pues al final es eso, si una peli te conmueve, te deja dando vueltas a la historia, si tienes ganas de volverla a ver, es que es cine, con letras mayúsculas y para mi Drive lo es. Una atmósfera impecable, tempo pausado, un montaje lleno de elipsis, dejando que el espectador entre en la historia y la complete, una obra brutal y violenta, tan sublime y delicada a la vez, que la mezcla de dolor y belleza se vuelve arte, se vuelve cine. Kino är på stockholms filmfestival den här veckan - och möter några av filmskaparna som är aktuella där. En av Stockholms filmfestivals hetaste filmer är Drive. Filmens regissör, Nicholas Winding Refn, belönades med regipriset för Drive i Cannes tidigare i år, och sedan dess har den gjort ett segertåg över hela världen. Kinos Lisa Bergström fick träffa både regissören Winding Refn och huvudrollsinnehavaren Ryan Gosling på filmfestivalen i Toronto tidigare i år. Ett par vars bromans skapat kärleksbarnet Drive. Nicholas Winding Refn är inte den enda skandinaviska regissör som gjort internationell karriär. Festivalens öppningsfilm i Stockholm var ju Tomas Alfredsons internationella debut, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. En film som utspelas under det kalla kriget på den brittiska underrättelsetjänsten, där ett rykte plötsligt sprids om att det finns en dubbelagent - en mullvad - i organisationens topp. Filmen bygger på en roman av John Le Carré som regissören Tomas Alfredson själv tyckte var klurig att förvandla till långfilm, berättade han när Roger Wilson mötte honom. Två av årets festivalfilmer tar på olika sätt upp fenomenet hysteri, denna märkliga diagnos som sattes på kvinnor för lite mer än hundra år sedan. Det är dels David Cronenbergs A Dangerous Method och dels den romantiska komedin Hysteria av amerikanskan Tanya Wexler. Under tre veckor så granskas och diskukteras den svenska skolan i ett trettiotal program där alla tacklar frågan på sitt sätt. Här i Kino har vi med jämna mellanrum besökt skolgården. Bland annat har vi diskuterat jämställdheten i skolan förr och nu när vi jämförde Peter Schildts långfilm Tusen gånger starkare från 2010 med tv-serien tjejerna gör uppror från 1977. Ett klassiskt skräckexempel från filmens värld som ofta lyfts fram när kunskap och lärande ska diskuteras är Alf Sjöbergs film "Hets" från 1944 med Stig Järrel som ondskefull magister, med rynkade ögonbryn och pekpinnen som vapen. Det är ingen slump att han fått öknamnet Caligula av klassen. Här på Kino har vi denna vecka fördjupat oss i en annan, betydligt vänligare lärarfigur, nämligen Magister Flykt, Peter Cohens och Olof Landströms tecknade barnserie-klassiker från 1984. Serien visas just nu i SVTs Barnkanalen och Nina Asarnoj träffade Peter Cohen för att prata om Magister Flykt och vårt förhållande till skolan.
