She feels fortunate to have had an incredibly varied and diverse dance career before crossing over to the agenting world. She worked internationally in all media - from stages in Seoul, Korea, to film sets in Rome, Italy; from the Los Angeles Opera to Cher at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. Stephanie had the privilege to dance with many music artists, including Panic at the Disco, Cher, Tina Turner, Jessica Simpson, Hole, Chemical Brothers, and Macy Gray. She danced in numerous television shows, including Dancing with the Stars, Penny Dreadful, Veep, Dead to Her, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, American Housewife, and Lucifer. Some of her film appearances include La La Land, Valley Girl (2020), The Muppets, Gangster Squad, and commercials for Ford, AT&T, Subway, Pepsi, K-mart, Chase Bank, and The Gap's iconic "swing khakis" commercial. Her experience on stages and film sets naturally led her to add ‘choreographer' to her list of professional achievements. Her choreography can be seen in the films Give Me an A, Too Late, and Mafia!; in the Green Day "Last of the American Girls" music video, and commercials for Chase Bank, K-mart, Jell-O, and Burger King. As a dance educator, Stephanie was principal faculty at the Academy of Musical and Dramatic Arts (AMDA), and previously on faculty at Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles and Broadway Dance Center in New York City. In early 2024, she enthusiastically jumped into the role of dance agent and now works for Bloc Talent Agency. She's excited to continue exploring the entertainment industry through a new lens and sharing her love of dance and her vast industry experience with up-and-coming professionals and professional hopefuls. Take 124: Ryan Gosling In Review Pt. 5- Blue Valentine & Gangster Squad.
The GBGBs are back with our review of GANGSTER SQUAD (2013). What, you don't remember this movie? C'mon it has Gosling, Emma Stone, Sean Penn, Thanos, The Falcon, Crossbones, Ant-Man's funny friend Luis.... Really?? Well it's about a ragtag team of mavericks who are trying to take down a mob boss in 1940s Los Angeles! It was also critically panned and was a box office flop. Not all of Gosling's movies are winners, but with a hit rate like that guy, we had to go for a stinker this week. Ryan (our Ryan) also guides us through the arcane art of "remote viewing" a technique used by the CIA to locate UFOs buried under the Denver Airport *citation needed*. Thanks for stopping by!

Mireille Enos followed her brother's footsteps into acting at an early age, which eventually led her to New York City to study acting. Today, she's best known for The Killing, World War Z, Sabotage, Gangster Squad, Big Love, Hanna, and now, Lucky Hank. In the latest project, Lucky Hank, Mireille plays Lily, the wife Hank (Bob Odenkirk), an English department chairman at an underfunded college who toes the line between a full-blown meltdown and the offbeat chaos of his personal and professional life. This is one of three Lucky Hank interviews, so be on the lookout for my chats with actor Diedrich Bader and creators Paul Lieberstein and Aaron Zelman. We also discuss her work with Veena Sud, who can you listen to in Episode 94. In this interview, Mireille talks about dealing with rejection, feeling embraced by New York but not Los Angeles, scripts you feel like should be yours, the unusual trajectory of The Killing, using the camera as your witness, and advice for writers to create roles actors desperately want to play. And, if you haven't seen Lucky Hank yet, there is a partially spoiler for Episode 4 around the 27:00 minute mark. Want more? This week's episode is proof that you can actually meet genuine people at comic cons. One half of "In Love, with Movies" hosts, Nic, comes on the show to chat about Ruben Fleischer's only undisputedly good feature "Zombieland". CatBusRuss and his guest did not take a lot of notes suggesting that it maybe one of the best paced comedies of the current century. Watching the feature was more than a pleasant palate cleanser after visiting "FeaDotCom (.com)" for Ally's Accessories Shop on Etsy's "Trash Feature Revue". The two end up realizing the kind of comfort cinema sci-fi comedies can be. It is only appropriate that it pulls so much from "Ghostbusters" with very little shame. Zombieland's characters may not evolve, but like the three NYU professors who got into paranormal investigation, they do not have to. If they did, the audience might leave feeling betrayed (which may explain the lack of success of "Gangster Squad" and what CatBus feels is an underappreciated sequel "Double Tap"). If the premise is enough, why mess around with it too much? Of course this film got a crappy television show when Amazon said hold my beer.
The finest of the Emma Stone/Ryan Gosling dating trilogy. Sure LA LA LAND won Best Picture for thirty seconds but then there is GANGSTER SQUAD. Which leaves us with this ensemble film starring Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, Marisa Tomei, Lio Tipton and Kevin Bacon as the bad guy... but not really. THANKFULLY there is no ambassador of the movie posters full of squares in Greg Kinnear. For that would be death. So come with us as we celebrate the death of our First Date Trilogy and move on to... Gangster Squad never equals the sum of its parts. Featuring a stacked cast—Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, and Emma Stone, to name a few—it's never more than a middling mob flick. And that's a problem. Why? Well, there are dozens of films in this genre, many of which capitalize on their premise far more than this does. Gangster Squad is essentially a 21st Century Untouchables without any of the style or substance that made that movie so great. Thus, despite strong efforts from the aforementioned cast, the material is never elevated. Hence why critics hated it, 30% on Rotten Tomatoes with 207 reviews; and audiences avoided it. On a budget of $75 million, it grossed just over $105 million worldwide. One wouldn't move up very high on the ladder of underworld henchmen with those sorts of receipts. So, sit back, peel the cap off a Blah Blah Blah IPA from 21st Amendment Brewery, and live dangerously in the City of Angels! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Capt. Cash, Mayor McCheese, and Chumpzilla are putting together a team of unflappable lawmen to take on the mob. This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – You lose everything and you win the war, you're a hero. You lose everything and you lose the war, you're just a fool. (00:00) Lingering Questions – After a word from our brothers in beer at Hop Nation USA, we discuss the exact moment Sean Penn believed he'd win the Oscar for this. (37:26) The "Alcatraz" Trivia Challenge – The Double Turn Podcast rumbles in a Chinatown "Street Fight," and then I challenge the field to trivia about the movie. (58:19) Recommendations – We offer our picks for the week and next up: We continue "Hops and Star Powered Flops" with the woefully miscast Prince of Persia. (1:08:39) And, as always, hit us up on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram to check out all the interesting factoids—the controversy with the film's first trailer and more—from this week's episode! Prey reignites the Predator franchise in the best ways possible. It's more contained—focusing on the story and characters, rather than feeling the need to go bigger. It's the hit the series desperately needed. After a slew of middling to outright mediocre sequels (and sidequels), Prey optimizes the formula for the alien hunter's antics. It takes the creature back in time—the northwest plains in 1719—and utilizes the incredible landscapes to set a tone and atmosphere the films have been missing. This is Naru's journey just as much as it is the Predator's. She, like the extraterrestrial, is out to prove herself. That is the heartbeat of the movie—one woman's quest to demonstrate her worth as a hunter in the eyes of her tribe. Hence why Naru (Amber Midthunder) is the best protagonist we've had since cigar-chewing Dutch in the 1987 original. Yet, a Predator movie cannot be complete without some murderous mayhem. And there is plenty of cannon fodder to be had. Prey gives us gore by the bucket load. The mandible menace has never been more intimidating or dangerous than in this movie. And when it wipes out an entire horde of folks, it does so in incredibly gruesome and satisfying ways. Simply put, Prey is a must-watch for fans of the franchise. So, sit back, crush a can of Hop Venom from Boneyard Beer, and cheer on the Predator as he massacres some French fur trappers! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Capt. Cash, Mayor McCheese, and Chumpzilla are doing our best to avoid getting snared in any of the Predator's excruciatingly brutal man-traps. This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – It knows how to hunt, but we know how to survive. (00:00) Lingering Questions – After a word from our brothers in beer at Hop Nation USA, we discuss where in time we'd like the Predator to head next. (28:03) The "Kuhtaamia" Trivia Challenge – The Double Turn Podcast loses a "First Blood" match to a bear, and then I challenge the field to trivia about the movie. (45:51) Recommendations – We offer our picks for the week and next up: We begin "Hops and Star Powered Flops" with the excellently casted, but poorly scripted flop Gangster Squad. (56:17) And, as always, hit us up on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram to check out all the interesting factoids—the original cast's love for this movie and more—from this week's episode! Vincent Pastore on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson I usually know our guests... it's always a little nerve-wracking to meet someone for the first time Live on the air. It's the seventy-second episode of On The List with Brett Gursky. This week's guest Ruben Fleischer talks all about his career as a director. Ruben and Brett talk about his latest movie “Uncharted”, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, which was just the #1 movie in the world for 2 weeks in a row. Ruben gives Brett all the behind-the-scenes stories about the making of the film, including what it was like filming in Berlin during a global pandemic… especially when their original start date was March 16th, 2020. Then Ruben takes Brett back to the beginning, from growing up in Washington D.C. and making home movies to attending college at Wesleyan University as a history major. Ruben talks about his first gig as a P.A. on “Dawson's Creek”, which was followed by a job as director Miguel Arteta's assistant. Ruben explains how he got to direct his first movie “Zombieland” in 2009, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Woody Harrelson, and Bill Murray- and how it catapulted his career. Then Ruben tells Brett how he chose his next film “30 Minutes Or Less”, starring Jesse Eisenberg again, alongside Danny McBride, Aziz Ansari, and Nick Swardson. From there, they talk about Ruben's third movie “Gangster Squad”, starring Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, and a reunion with Emma Stone. Ruben also discusses directing the pilots for the hit NBC show “Superstore” (which he also produced), the ABC sitcom “American Housewife”, and the Netflix series “Santa Clarita Diet”, which starred Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant. Then Ruben shares stories about the making of his next two films- “Venom” starring Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Riz Ahmed, and “Zombieland: Double Tap”, which reunited the original cast 10 years later. Of course Brett asks Ruben if there will be more “Zombieland” and “Uncharted” movies in his future. Last but not least, Ruben shares his advice for aspiring filmmakers. Be sure to check out “Uncharted” now playing at a theater near you.
