Friends In Film Graduate Vic (Animal Planet Network, A&E Network) has a serious discussion with me on the importance of building your connections and networks during this time (especially those of us who already have lots of videography experience). The key thing to remember here is Videography Is Not Production. And never think PA work is below you because you're "good with a camera". If you don't want to be become decrepit carrying around equipment and working into the wee hours every night editing someone else's project in 20 years, watch this.
On the thirtieth episode of ATFT, I talk with former broadcaster/ executive producer/ writer/ actress/ proud cat mom, Vesta Millard! Vesta Millard has had an incredibly vast and impressive career in show business, so much so that those titles don't cover every job she's had! She was a radio DJ for thirty years in some of the biggest markets, including New York and New Jersey. Vesta ranks among the top ten percent of voice actors worldwide and has lent her voice to a range of projects including, but not limited to, documentaries, animated television shows, and video games. Some of her most prominent clients have been Coca Cola, the A&E Network, and Sirius XM. Vesta has appeared in commercials as well as short films "Covington", "Fruit Cake", and most recently "Life is Torture" in which she won two awards at OIF last month. Off camera, Vesta led the charge behind creating an anti- stalking law that remains in effect today and has significantly helped many people. In recent years, aside from voice acting, Vesta has created her own independent fantasy short films. Vesta's latest short film, "Time Will Tell", is the fourth installment of “The Witches Diaries” following Vesta's character, heroine witch Tara Ward. In this thirty- minute short, Tara travels back to the time of the Salem Witch Trials in order to save her bloodline. She is aided by fellow witches and pirates as Tara becomes a part of history. "Time Will Tell" be soon be submitted to film festivals but the film will have a premiere at Epic Theaters in St. Augustine, Florida on November 10 at 2 pm. Vesta's third installment, "On Blood Moon", will also be shown at the premiere. Tickets are $10 and there are raffle prizes will all proceeds going to Ayla's Acres, a nonprofit no- kill animal rescue. Also be sure to check out Vesta's work through her website!: https://www.vestavox.com/ This is Vesta's first appearance on ATFT! Thanks to the incredible Danielle Bowman for recruiting me to join the crew as a production assistant/ craft services/ film extra, I was able to meet Vesta on the set of her fourth and latest short film, "Time Will Tell", almost a year ago. The whole experience was such a joy, in large part due to the joyous and hard working environment set and led by Vesta. Since being on set is very much a work environment, there's not often much time to get to know each other. I was lucky enough to sit and have a quick chat with Vesta not long after filming wrapped, which is when I asked if she would be a guest on ATFT sometime. In that conversation, I was stunned by Vesta's stories from her career… some we didn't even get to mention in this interview! In preparing for this interview, I learned those stories were just the tip of the iceberg. I was very nervous for this interview. I had so many questions that, even though this episode was originally around 140 minutes, many questions were never posed. Hopefully there will be a part two in the future! This episode was recorded on October 2, 2024. In this episode, Vesta shares stories through the years from growing up in a show business to making independent fantasy short films today. Vesta also talks about the terrifying situation that drove her to create an important anti- stalking law. We also discuss the importance in portraying women over 40 in cinema, the making and reflection of her short films, and her appreciation for Martin Scorsese. All this and much more on the latest episode of All the Film Things! Background music created and used with permission by the Copyright Free Music - Background Music for Videos channel on YouTube.

Photographer and Pediatrician, Greg Gulbransen joins me to talk about his book, Say Less, published by Gost Books. Greg and I talk about how facing tragedy in his personal life and being a children's doctor all lead to this exploration of gun violence. Greg is a unique guest in that he is both a full-time working doctor and had great success with fashion photography. He approaches his medical work and his documentary photo work with similar ideals and practice and we talk a good deal about that. Just a small trigger warning, the life-altering event Greg describes from his own tragedy and the story and descriptions of Malik, the paralyzed former gang leader from Greg's book, are intense and have some graphic detail. https://www.gulbransenphoto.com | https://www.instagram.com/greggulbransenpeds/ | https://gostbooks.com/products/say-less This podcast is sponsored by the Charcoal Book Club Begin Building your dream photobook library today at https://charcoalbookclub.com Over the course of three years, Greg Gulbransen photographed Malik, a set leader of the violent street gang, the Crips. Malik was shot and paralysed in 2018 by the bullet from a rival gang, and as a result his world now centres around his small Bronx apartment in New York, where he is cared for by his family and fellow gang members. Gulbransen, a practicing doctor, had been photographing in the Bronx during his spare time and had got to know some of the local kids. He began to notice a lot of young men in wheelchairs with spinal injuries and was professionally curious. He was told they had all been shot. He wanted to speak to someone in a wheelchair and was introduced to Malik through a fellow Crip. Greg started out shooting fashion but transitioned over to documenting the lives of unique individuals with interesting stories. Greg loves meeting new people and tries to preserve their legacy with photography. Greg also enjoys the solace of cold weather wildlife. His images have been published in the New York Times, Daily Mail, ELLE, Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar, Northwell Health, The Weather Channel, Spirit and Flesh, Grazia and Pandora to name a few. Some of Greg's documentary work has been featured on the A & E Network's History Channel. Karl and Tonya visit the true crime genre this episode as we review the new documentary that attempts to answer more questions about the death of Caylee Anthony around July 2008. Her mother Casey was ultimately found not guilty of her child's death but was charged with lying to authorities. Few people, aside apparently from the jury, seem to believe she wasn't at least heavily involved. Since then, Casey has turned on her parents, her father in particular, and has leveled hideous accusations against him. Now, A&E Network has given Casey's parents a lie detector test and the results are in... Come to the gray area with When It Was Cool.

Bob Enyart urges prayer for the public schools to not reopen on time for the next school year (or ever for that matter). And as programming notes, Bob mentions that producer Tim Mahoney may be on the show this week heading toward Friday's online premier, Patterns: Red Sea Miracle II and also that last week's guest, Bevelyn Beatty was arrested along with her partner in crime Edmee Chavannes and our longtime BEL friend Ken Scott, for not wearing masks to a Cape Coral city council meeting where it was decided, thankfully but ironically, to not order mask wearing! Then Bob concludes his "train-up your mind" clear thinking segments using the atheist "Euthyphro's Dilemma" argument. Google ranks Bob's Christian reply #1 at kgov.com/euthyphro. Euthyphro Part 1 introduced Socrates' argument. Part 2 evaluated the Divine Command View. Part 3 introduced the Recognition View. In Part 4 the Recognition View Met the Trinity. Part 5 turned Euthyphro's Dilemma against Bertrand Russell and the atheists. And Part 6 concludes the matter answering succinctly, Is something good because God commands it to be good? No. Is something good because God recognizes it as good? Yes. And is that standard external to Himself? No. But then, how could that work, and not be logically inconsistent? Tune in, especially to Parts 3 and 4, and today's conclusion, as we demonstrate how the Triune God fully answers what turns out to be not ours, but the atheist's dilemma! To hear the full series, start at kgov.com/euthyphro-1. Today's Resource: Does God Exist? (Debate)Bob Enyart Bob Enyart pastors Denver Bible Church. Bob began his professional life working for McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Company designing simulation software for the Army's Apache AH-64 attack helicopter, and then went to work for U S West, Microsoft Corporation, and PC Week. Bob eventually left his computing career to work fulltime in Christian ministry and to host a talk show. In 1991, Bob Enyart Live began airing on Denver's KLTT radio, and can still be heard there weeknights at 7 p.m. During the mid 90s, Bob's show moved to television and was available in eighty cities from Honolulu to Orlando. More than 50,000 copies of Bob's audio and video teaching tapes have been sold. And a few thousand people have read the overview of the Bible presented in The Plot manuscript which is Bob Enyart's life's work. Bob launched www.KGOV.com in 1999 with the purchase of O.J. Simpson's Hall of Fame Award and football jerseys, burning those items at the largest single-event press conference in the history of the LA courthouse. And Bob has organized a mobile protest of President Bill Clinton following him from Martha's Vineyard to Auckland, New Zealand with over 1,000 protests in 147 US and foreign cities for Clinton's sexual abuse of women. Bob has worked with parents of slain Columbine students to close down memorials to murderers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, and was glad to see the destruction of two crosses on Rebel Hill and two trees planted in West Bowles Community Church memorial garden. Bob has been appeared on over 100 TV and radio shows, including multiple episodes of ABC's Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher; Fox News Channel's O'Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes, CNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews, and various appearances on MS-NBC, the BBC, XTRA, Michael Reagan, E Network, etc. including on scores of radio stations from LA's KABC to NY's WABC.Zakath Zakath, a two and a half year veteran poster on TOL, is an atheist with a past.
