A tale of a round trip flight that was a no good, bad ,terrible, awful experience. It is also a  tale of celebration. I could have let my emotions take over and made the situation so much worse, and ruined my trip in a number of ways. And yet, I didn't give in at any point. In the losses, I'm taking the win. There are also cameo appearances by "Susan" and "Dude Karen" (with apologies to those named Karen who didn't ask for this and have every right to speak to a manager).Thank you for visiting, please like, subscribe and shareTo find more of my content (writing and podcasts) please visit To support:Venmo: richlevesque10Cashapp: $richlevesque10Social links:https://instagram.com/misfitwandershttps://twitter.com/misfitwandershttps://tiktok.com/misfitsandwanderershttps://linktr.ee/MisfitsandwanderersThe purpose of this episode is simply to inform and offer ideas and possibilities for further exploration. Love Persevering: Exploring Grief (Legion of Misfits Episode #2)

Love Persevering: Exploring Grief Legion of Misfits Episode 2 hosted by Rich Levesque “But what is grief if not love persevering?” -Vision (from the Marvel Studios series WandaVision) In this episode will focus on grief. I was inspired for a couple of reasons, the first being that the 12th anniversary of my mom's passing is approaching as of the release of this episode. Also, I've come across a number of people who have been struggling with the idea that their own grief processes are taking longer than others in their lives (in some cases themselves as well) have the patience for. Truth is, when we lose someone close to us, the mourning never fully ends; we simply learn to carry on as we are ready and build around the hole that the loss left in our being. It never does truly fill in, we simply learn to adapt to the hole. Of course grief doesn't come as a result of death, even though it's the first thing we naturally think of. But there are grieving processes that result from loss of all kinds. Loss of a home, a job or career, ending of a friendship, even the ending of a way of life as we know it, as we've all experienced to some degree in the last couple of years for obvious reasons. Be aware, this episode does contain occasional strong language in the form of occasional cuss words used (would probably fall into a PG-13 or TV-14 rating in the US). This episode of Legion of Misfits is dedicated with love to the memory of Sandra (Ross) Levesque, 1/12/51-4/21/10. Love you and miss you Mom! Sections (not counting intro and closing) 1. Legion of Misfits with Rich Levesque (New Season, Sorta New Name) Episode 1 Emotional Sunburn: Exploring Rejection Sensitivity This episode is called "Emotional Sunburn", and it focuses on how for many of us, the understanding that rejection has nothing to do with us and can serve to support us on our path, while true, can be a devastating thing for the brains of many of us to process, and we can not only struggle with regulating emotionally but it can really hold us back with taking steps in all areas of life. While not an official diagnosis (DSM, etc.) it is recognized by many as a neruodivergent symptom known as rejection sensitivity dysmorphia (RSD), in particular with ADHD. It can also be seen as connected to CPTSD as well. Please not that while there are still clearly things that science and medicine have yet to make consistent links with for multiple reasons, what is clear that a number of us are afflicted with this and just for knowing that we aren't the only ones, let's talk about it. Maybe knowing that this is a real thing can help us to know what is going on in the moment and give us just enough to realize that what is happening is something we need to allow to pass rather than react from in the moment. From there, it's information and possibilities that we need to explore further, through research and also through connecting with our medical and mental health professionals to understand our own unique situations. Feeling seen, feeling understood, feeling like not only other people are truly listening to you, but that you're able to be fully present for yourself. It's a simple act in theory but it can be very hard in practice for a number of reasons. Sometimes the manner somebody is trying to be seen violates boundaries. In other cases it forces us to look at things within ourselves that we quite frankly would rather not. This gets a bit scattered admittedly, but there is so much to this and it is very hard to do any justice in a small amount of time. This involves many hard conversations and a lot of very powerful, difficult work. That work is so important. It's not necessarily the solution to any one thing, of course. But it's the first step to EVERYTHING. Whether it's a universal conflict or an internal struggle. Macro or micro, it's the same. We can't fix anything if we can't understand what we're all seeing. Does it mean we have to agree on what we see? Of course not, we all have different values and life experiences and we will never all see the world the same way. But the openings come when we understand each other and why we see things the way we do. It starts with seeing. It starts with feeling seen. Most do, actually. We grow together, and often we grow apart. Very few are “lifetime” connections, and most are “reason” or “season” connections. Follow Michelle at facebook.com/morphingenergetics To connect or learn how to work with Michelle, use her email: morphingenergetics@gmail.com Michelle and I talked about a number of different ways we're at a crossroads as a species and as a society. Life has shifted in a permanent way, and we are still in the process of learning what that's supposed to look like. The unknown is scary, and if you find yourself in certain information bubbles, you're primed to be afraid of different things. Our fear is leading us to be unable to see the humanity in each other, especially those who trigger our fears the most. What is that leading to? How can we shift that? What would that even look like? Some questions to ponder: What if at the end of the day we are all just a bunch of scared little kids trying to figure it all out? If we are all equal, then don't we have more power that we give ourselves credit for? What if we shifted that power into building instead of dividing our communities? What if we sought the common ground (and don't believe the news or social media, we all can find common ground) instead of fighting over words and concepts that if we can find solutions to in an overnight if we just cut out those who benefit from…well, this? Limit Breaking: Online and In Person with Kyler Borthwick Kyler and I recorded this episode the day after the Great Facebook and Instagram Outage of 2021, so it was natural to start there. The conversation went from how it affected our days directly to what we as humanity could learn going forward. Also, what would happen if these big platforms suddenly went away? How would we reconnect? (we're tribal and social animals, we would ultimately find a way. We talked about how important the internet is not only for our social connection but in our day to day lives…using Uber as an example (who would have thought taking rides from strangers would be so profitable after what we learned as kids, but here we are). How working in gig economies can show us what other entrepreneurial possibilities are there for us. Whether we follow that path or we are happy in a current job or career path, we are ultimately selling our time, and we are becoming more aware of this and responding accordingly. That shift in mindset is beginning to shift the entire paradigm whether we are ready for it or not. Welcome (back), fellow Misfits & Wanderers. On this episode, I was honored to hang out with Noah Chute (AKA Noble). Noble is the host of his own podcast, Noble Dreams. We started the conversation talking about the community he created at the outset of the pandemic, The Quarantine Circus, when I first got to connect to Noble. We shared why community like this was so needed, and also how to navigate the situation when some is out of line, and many are screaming to “eliminate” the “problem”. We went from there to talking about communicating in general, how we can clearly see the results of our society being unable to have hard conversations is having (look around). We also shared our experiences with how sometimes we appear as messy and imperfect, complete with tics, stammers, stutters, “ummm”s and “you know”s, how it can be triggering to hear the imperfections form ourselves, why it's important to get over it, and even more important to not let anyone else's triggers keep your voice contained. I want you, the listener to feel like you're at the table with us while we're having a conversation. Would love to hear what comes through while you listen, and what conversations you may be inspired to have going forward. Because your voice deserves to be heard, no matter what. Welcome to Beacon Road Show with Rich Levesque Today’s guest is Logan Nellis Logan is a Divine Masculine Leader and Coach Inspiring People through Aligned Inner Wisdom, Love, and Intuition This was a powerful conversation where we discussed what is meant by Divine Masculinity, what it is and what it is not, and the struggle to find that level and balance. Of course, we need to find balance with the Divine Feminine but we also need to allow our masculine to feel seen and truly explored in order to feel whole. I invite you to listen in with us and to share what comes through for you while listening to our conversation. I only wish it could have been longer because there is so much to discuss on the subject. In Logan’s words… “It is my highest honor, privilege, and excitement to work with men from all walks of life meeting them where they are and as they are while empowering them to step into who they have always wanted to be. Utilizing the body's innate intelligence, we will create access, understanding, and coherence between the mind, body, and soul so that they leave our sessions feeling touched, moved, and inspired to step into their Full Body F-- Yes!!” Connect with Logan via e-mail: innerwisdomwarriors@gmail.com Schedule a free 30-minute Discovery Session with Logan: https://calendly.com/innerwisdomwarriors/discovery Connect with Rich: Beacon Road website – Rich’s blog, emergency and wellness resources, and buy cool stuff. Welcome to Beacon Road Show with Rich Levesque Topic: TRUST This can be tough one to untangle, it has multiple meanings and like most concepts, has different perspectives for each of us. But we’re going to try it anyway in this coffeehouse chat. We’ll start with what the meanings are of trust we are working with (Source: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/trust) From there I’ll proceed into a couple of recent stories that served as general reminders for myself. One includes a pair of kite surfers at the beach and how trust appeared from my eye to guide each of them. The second involves an incident in the woods where what I trusted externally failed spectacularly and I was forced to trust within. Next we’ll break down Brene Brown’s Elements for Trust B- Boundaries R- Reliability A- Accountability V- Vault I- Integrity N- Non-judgement G- Generosity (Source: https://daretolead.brenebrown.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/BRAVING.pdf) From there, we’ll jump into some feedback left when I posted the following questions… 1. How does someone GAIN your trust? 2. How does someone LOSE your trust? 3. What does it mean to trust YOURSELF and what does that look like? Feel free to weigh in on these in the comments or message me directly. ------ Thank you for watching or listening, please like, subscribe and share Connect with Rich: Beacon Road website – Rich’s blog, emergency and wellness resources, and buy cool stuff. Self-Connection Through Song: Beacon Road Show with Guest Eliza Rush

Welcome to Beacon Road Show with Rich Levesque Today's guest is the amazing singer-songwriter Eliza Rush! This conversation brings a number of amazing lessons Eliza shares from her own experience of taking leaps of faith that took her along the way, often with unexpected surprises along the way! Oh, and we also recount our experiences learning to surf in Venice Beach, California a couple years back. Eliza also performs 3 of her original songs for us: “Daughter of the Sun”, performed solo, approximately 10 minutes in “Come This Far”, followed by “You Are Worthy”, both accompanied by percussionist Mike Wojik. These songs begin approximately one hour and 10 minutes into the show. This is a little longer than my shows usually go but it’s worth the time because it connects inspiring lessons, entertaining stories, and amazing music all rolled into one. I may be biased but it’ll make that long trek to the beach just a little more amazing. --------------- From her website: Classically trained and steeped in the rich musical culture of Canada, Eliza Rush is no stranger to performing but is a relative newcomer to the acoustic scene in the Lehigh Valley. Pulling from all styles of music, she is a finder and interpreter of songs that beg to be shared. Her hauntingly beautiful and evocative voice paints landscapes in song. Reminiscent of Annie Haslam, Eliza takes a pop song or an old standard and makes it all her own. A blossoming songwriter, she will sprinkle in her originals while adeptly performing as an acoustic band, duo or solo artist. When you see her perform, her voice and presence will pull you in. Coffeehouse Chat with Rich, the topic: WHAT IS HOME? When you think of the word “home”, where does that word take you? Is it a place, a mindset, a memory, an emotion? All of these? None of these? I posted this question recently to my social media and in this episode I share a story regarding where this question took me recently (back to school, literally) as well as share and reflect off of the comments I received. It seems as though this topic, like many, has a unique answer for everybody who responded, and there are likely an infinite number of other answers that could be explored. I would love to hear what this brings out to you when you listen to it. What is home to YOU? Respond in the comments, on my social media, or drop me a line at beacon@beaconroad.net. I get a lot of ideas for written pieces, videos, and podcasts from connecting to you and hearing what you have to say so please feel welcome to stop by. “Just a reminder that you’re doing the best you can today with what you have to work with. Whether it feels like it or not, you are enough, and you matter. Please take extra special care of yourself today and every day.” On Beacon Road show everything is intended to come back to this message, to wrap around this message. Because ultimately, we’re all doing our best to be our best and to be seen and heard. Both by ourselves and by the world around us. The goal for this show is to honor that by speaking of how that works for us and how it can look. We’ll share stories of how we’re navigating that journey. We’ll also talk about skills and tools that are available to help us along in our own journeys. That’s the thing. There’s no ONE way for anything. We each have to find what works for each of us, in our own ways and on our own terms. Like all things, treat this like a buffet table. Remember those? Take what clicks, leave the rest. In whatever way you came about finding this little corner, and however you choose to use it, it’s an honor to have you spend some time here. It was a tremendous discussion regarding how the practice of staying in the present offers the opportunity to allow the emotions we’ve been avoiding for years and decades to be seen and felt. Once this happens they do what they need to and move along. The message is that we do not and have never needed to be fixed, just truly seen in our entirety. In the end, that’s really what we’re all trying to do here, be seen and understood. It starts with being seen by our own selves. Beacon Road Show 6/24/2020 “Screw It, Let’s Do This!” For a lot of us, there is that mechanism in our bodies that on occasion, takes over for our minds and we just find ourselves taking an action, taking a step, making a commitment that our minds have been talking ourselves out of, sometimes for years. These moments can be simply calling out of work and taking the kids to the beach for the day because you all need it. Or they could be as huge and intense as walking away from a career and doing the thing you always dreamed of. These may look ridiculous to the outside world, and on occasion even to ourselves. But they are what we need, and sometimes it feels like we’re just watching our bodies act on the think over the objections of our minds. The other day I posted the following on social media: Tell me about a time where you just said “F___ it” and did a thing. Did it work? How did it feel? Today we’ll work through the responses and comments and talk about how this means different things for different people. Like most things do, of course. Gear Change Life throws things at us fast. Suddenly, what we thought was going to be the focus of the moment can turn to dust, and something else takes over the entirety of our plate. It may be that all of our effort is needed to address the sudden situation. It may also be that it takes all of our energy to be able to process what we just saw, heard, experienced. It may be light and fun, like a great song. It may be silly and awkward like a fart. However, it can also be really heavy, painful and scary. It can also become a sudden matter of life and death, a medical emergency or bad accident. It is amazing how we are really quite adept at being able to change gears on the fly the way we can.
