This weeks episode is all about the Romans with our good friend, Nathan Senior! We talk about their religious practices, and what they would do when they invaded a new area. What effect did they have on the people there? We then look into the Romans rule in the Levant, in Israel. We look into how the people dealt with occupation and how they got there in the first place.   Acknowledgements Special thanks to Laura Sewall for providing our art, Laura does illustration at Edinburgh university, if you want to get in contact with her; Her website is laurasewall.com Her instagram it's @laurasewall96 And her email for enquiries is laura.sewall@live.co.uk Get in contact Hasitcrossedyourmind@gmail.com   Social media https://www.instagram.com/lukeholehouse https://www.instagram.com/jerome747 https://www.instagram.com/hasitcrossedyourmind   Sources https://study.com/academy/lesson/roman-civilization-timeline-facts-contributions.html https://www.britannica.com/biography/Augustus-Roman-emperor

The Book of Job's author is not known, its origins date back to as far as Abraham (2000BC) in the land of Uz (Canaan). But once you read its contents you soon find that the context is insignificant. Job is a humble man living in the ideal situation. He has a family, a huge farm and a faith in God. But then his life is turned upside down when everything is taken away from him. What follows is a story of suffering, injustice and distrust. It makes us ask the question, is God really just? And, do are material possessions determine how satisfied we are with God? We discuss this all and more with our friend Toby Shearn. This episode we look at the old testament prophet Elijah and queen Jezebel in their conflict of devotion to the God of Israel and the false gods. We cover themes of tyranny, idology(the belief in idol worship) and look at how God works through his people. Elijah was a prophet. A man that spoke for God. His job was to bring the people of Israel who had turn to worship Idols, back to knowing and living for the one who freed their fathers from slavery in Egypt. Lord over Israel and all the earth. He was the quintessential prophet. A lonely, zealous man, single mind in his fidelity to God and Sinaitic Covenant. He erupted from the desert wastes whenever Yahweh's battles had to be fought, clad only in the hair mantle of his calling. At this time the King of Israel, Ahab, married Jezebel a woman who had intention to overthrow the land with the false God Baal. She dedicated time to killing the prophets of Israel. She was so evil that even the prophet Elijah fled from her and wanted to die.
