Get To Know Real Police, The Homicide Hunter. Special Episode. For fans of true crime, few names are as synonymous with justice as Joe Kenda. Known to millions as “The Homicide Hunter”, Kenda is a retired police detective lieutenant who solved 356 of the 387 homicide cases he worked during a 23-year career with the Colorado Springs Police Department, a staggering 92% closure rate. But for Kenda, the numbers are only part of the story. In an interview on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast, he opened up about the emotional toll of hunting killers, his unexpected rise to television fame, and his compelling book, Killer Triggers. Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Medium and most all social media platforms. “If you kill someone in my city, I will find you,” Kenda once declared, a phrase that became the chilling mantra behind his Investigation Discovery (ID Channel) hit series Homicide Hunter. The show, which ran for nine seasons, became a staple in the world of true crime television, captivating viewers with its gripping real-life investigations and Kenda's unmistakably calm, resolute narration. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. The TV series Homicide Hunter offered more than just entertainment, it provided a window into the psyche of a seasoned detective who never lost sight of the human cost of murder. “I don't want to tell these stories. I need to,” Kenda said, reflecting on the unresolved trauma from his years on the force. As he reopened his “Murder Books”, the folders containing all the details of the cases he solved, he also reopened long-suppressed memories, and in doing so, offered audiences a rare, raw look at what it really means to live in the mind of a homicide detective. Get To Know Real Police, The Homicide Hunter. His book, Killer Triggers, goes even deeper. “This book offers my memories of homicide cases that I investigated or oversaw,” Kenda explains. Each chapter explores the psychological trigger behind a killing, whether rage, fear, revenge, money, lust, or sheer madness. “I chose this theme because even though the ‘why' of a murder case isn't always essential to solving it, it can sometimes lead us straight to the killer.” He adds that even after solving a case, the question of motive lingers. “The why still intrigues us, it disrupts our dreams, maybe because we all fear the demons that lie within our own psyche.” Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium, Blogspot and Linkedin. Born in Herminie, Pennsylvania, Kenda's journey into law enforcement began in an unlikely place: the Pittsburgh Zoo. A childhood encounter there sparked an early fascination with criminal behavior. After earning a degree in political science from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's in international relations from Ohio State University, Kenda considered a career in intelligence before ultimately joining the Colorado Springs Police Department in 1973. Kenda rose through the ranks quickly. By 1977, he was a detective solving cases other officers had deemed unsolvable. His instincts, sharp eye for human behavior, and relentless pursuit of the truth earned him a reputation that eventually led to a new chapter, one in front of the camera. Get To Know Real Police, The Homicide Hunter. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. His unexpected entrance into the world of television came long after his retirement. “I never thought I'd be on TV,” he admits. But after being approached by producers, Kenda agreed to share his stories, and Homicide Hunter was born. Now, in addition to that flagship show, he also hosts American Detective with Lt. Joe Kenda on Discovery+, continuing to bring real police work to television audiences across the globe. Off-screen, connect with him through our social media including Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn, and during the interview on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast. You can listen to his stories and interview on our website for free in addition to platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and other major podcast platforms. Despite the fame, Kenda remains deeply grounded. He speaks openly about the impact his career had on his family, especially his wife, Mary Kathleen Mohler, whom he married in 1967. “You can't see what I've seen and not come away changed,” he says. “But I tried to leave it at the door. Not always successfully.” Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Medium and most all social media platforms. With decades of cases behind him, a bestselling book in stores, a loyal following across TV and podcasts, and a reputation as one of the most effective detectives in modern law enforcement history, Joe Kenda has become much more than just a name on a screen. He's a storyteller, a protector, and perhaps most importantly, a reminder that justice, though often elusive, is always worth pursuing. Get To Know Real Police, The Homicide Hunter. The interview is available as a free podcast on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast website, also available on platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most major podcast outlets. The Gospel Manifesto in the Book of Romans, Pt. 3 The Grace of God in the Gospel, Romans 3:21-5:21 By Louie Marsh, 5-11-2025   Intro: 9 slides about silly laws – last one cactus.   1) I'm made right with God BY FAITH not the law.     21  But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22  the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24  and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25  whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26  It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Romans 3:21-26 (ESV)   2) I can MODEL my life after Abraham.     1  What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? 2  For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3  For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” 4  Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. 5  And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, Romans 4:1-5 (ESV)   · Why does Paul keep repeating this?   13  For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith…16  That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring—not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all, Romans 4:13, 16(ESV)   3) Some results of being justified by faith:   1  Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2  Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3  Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, Romans 5:1-3a (ESV)   ·  PEACE with God   A Colorado man who has been “fighting with his computer for the last several months” finally had had enough. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, officers responding last night to a 911 call about shots fired discovered that a “fed up” Lucas Hinch took his computer into a back alley and “fired 8 shots into the computer with a handgun, effectively disabling it.” Hinch, 38, was cited for discharging a firearm within city limits, according to a police blotter entry that includes the summary description “Man Kills His Computer.” When asked about the shooting, Hinch told TSG, “I just had it,” adding that he tired of the balky computer's “blue screen of death.” Hinch said that he whacked the computer with a 9mm Hi-Point pistol recently purchased from a Craigslist seller. The gun was seized by police, who left the computer behind. The late Dell XPS 410 model is survived by a monitor, a keyboard and a mouse. ·  LIVING by grace   · Joy in the HOPE of God's glory.   4) By faith I can walk the PATHWAY OF GROWTH.   3 knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4  and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5  and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:3b-5 (ESV)   · I have a REASON to rejoice in suffering   3 knowing that… Romans 5:3b (ESV)   · Suffering produces cheerful ENDURANCE   suffering produces endurance, Romans 5:3c (ESV)   · Cheerful endurance produces PROOF of character   4  and endurance produces character, Romans 5:4a (ESV)   · Character produces biblical HOPE   character produces hope Romans 5:4b (ESV)   · Biblical hope doesn't fail because the Holy Spirit POURS God's love into me.   5  and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:5 (ESV)   5) Where sin exists God's Grace will OVERFLOW to me.   20  Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 21  so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 5:20-21 (ESV)

In the months before her death, Cassandra had taken out personal ads in a local newspaper. She received more than 80 responses and made contact with several men, but no evidence could be found to link any of them to the murders. Years later Police looked at a former soldier named Philip E. Wilkinson, who is currently  sitting on death row  in North Carolina for the 1992 triple slaying of a mother and her two children. It is good to be back. I had to take a break from the podcast so I could finish up edits on Ty Benhoff two. I also wanted to change some stuff around on the podcast so thank you for your patience. Getting right back into it though, tonight I'm talking to John Wesley Anderson about his new book Lou and Jon Benet, an outstanding story about Homicide Detective Lou Smit, and his quest to find Jon Benet Ramsey's killer. John Wesley Anderson, MBA, is a published author, storyteller, and TEDx speaker. He enjoyed a 30-year law enforcement career and was twice elected Sheriff for El Paso County, Colorado (1995-2003). Prior to serving as Sheriff, John was employed with the Colorado Springs Police Department and retired at the rank of sergeant (1972-1995). After being term-limited as Sheriff, in 2003, John went to work for the Lockheed Martin Corporation, where he focused on corporate and homeland security initiatives and advanced technology development. In 2012, he retired from the corporate world to launch a consulting company, JW Anderson & Associates, LTD., allowing him the freedom to pursue his passion for writing, history and the arts. Although John has traveled around the world, including several adventures on a catamaran sailing the Caribbean, three corporate security assignments into a combat zone on the Horn of Africa, and landing on an aircraft carrier at sea in the Pacific Ocean, he remains most fascinated by the rich history and art discovered in his own backyard in the American Southwest. John and a team comprised of retired detectives and the Smit family continue the hunt for Jon Benet's killer. Please consider donating to their GoFundMe at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/JonBenet-Lou-Smits-family-searches-for-justice. About Lou and Jon Benet. On Christmas Night 1996, six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey was murdered in her family's home in Boulder, Colorado. A ransom note was found in the home, but it was hours before her father, John, found her body in the basement. She had been strangled with a garrote and her skull was fractured. The media sensationalized the tragic death of the “child beauty queen” and public speculation and rumors ran rampant. What followed was one of the most notorious unsolved murder investigations in American history. Boulder police fixated on JonBenet's parents as suspects. Needing investigative help, the Boulder DA brought in legendary homicide detective Lou Smit. However, he was soon disenchanted with law enforcement's obsession with the Ramsey family as the primary suspects, excluding other possibilities. Smit resigned but continued to work on his own time, and at his own expense, determined to find justice for JonBenet. He determined the Ramsey family was not involved in her death but died in 2010 before he could identify the killer. Thousands of people attended his funeral service, including John Ramsey, and the detective's lifelong friend and colleague, John Anderson. Along with a handful of retired detectives, Anderson and Smit's family continue to pursue justice based on Smit's work. Now, for the first time in LOU AND JONBENET, Anderson tells the story of Smit's investigation and why the Smit family team now believes that the killer can be identified. His family lived in a quiet neighborhood of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and were in the habit of leaving their doors unlocked. No one heard anyone come in and take Christopher that night, but by morning, he was gone. Panic immediately set in when no one could find the baby. They ran downstairs to find the front door left open. The investigation focused on the family for a long time, but in recent years, a person of interest has been identified. At four minutes to midnight on the eve of Trans Remembrance Day, a young male shooter, Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, allegedly burst into the Club Q nightclub in Colorado Springs, CO, with two guns, including a long gun, according to city's police chief, Adrian Vasquez. He left at least five people killed and at least 18 injured. Those numbers are expected to grow. According to Lt. Pamela Castro, PIO of the Colorado Springs Police Department, The police received an initial call about a shooting at the nightclub at 11:56 p.m. Within six minutes, officers had entered the nightclub, Club Q, and had taken a suspect into custody, she said, adding that the suspect was also injured and being treated at a hospital.Colorado Springs police chief, Adrian Vasquez, said in this morning's news conference that the gunman had used a long rifle. Two guns were recovered at the club. Officials are actively investigating a motive. Those with injuries were taken to several local hospitals. Lieutenant Castro indicated some victims also drove themselves to seek treatment, making the exact number of injured uncertain. Not all of the injuries were from gunshot wounds.During this morning's news conference, the F.B.I. said it was involved in the investigation, and several Colorado lawmakers condemned the shooting. In a statement, Gov. Jared Polis praised the “brave individuals” at the nightclub who had “blocked the gunman.”In a statement on its Facebook page, Club Q expressed that it was “devastated by the senseless attack on our community.” Attacks on LGBTQ+ establishments are, unfortunately, nothing new to Colorado. Here is the article referencing the deadly arson of a Fort Collins tavern from 1986, referenced in the podcast that took the life of two community members. The case is being investigated through the “lens” of a hate crime, but that has not been definitively determined. But the suspect, Anderson Lee Aldrich, has had a previous run-in with law enforcement, including firearms and threats to his mother involving explosives. According to an article written on June 18th of 2021 on KOAA.com, when the sheriff's department responded to a report of a bomb threat in the 9800 block of Rubicon Dr. The reporting party said her son was threatening to hurt her with a homemade bomb, multiple weapons, and ammunition. She was not at home when she made the call and was unsure where her son was. The event was eventually resolved later that day when the negotiators were able to get Aldrich to comply with orders, and he walked out of the home's front door and was arrested. We will follow this story and update you as more information becomes available. Tonight I will be speaking about the dangers of violent extremism in a new documentary film premiere on MSNBC that was produced by Time Studio and Trevor Noah titled Spilt Screen, The Turning Point. February 14, 1985. Colorado Springs, Colorado. The two females were sexually assaulted and beaten and all three victims have been strangled to death. Since Cassandra had placed some personal ads in a local newspaper and received responses from a number of men, there is speculation that this might be connected to the crime. Years later, Philip Wilkinson, an inmate serving time on death row for the similar murders of another family, is looked at as a possible suspect, but there is no conclusive evidence to implicate him or anyone else. He's here to discuss his new book called Killer Triggers that's available now on Amazon! The most common triggers for homicide are fear, rage, revenge, money, lust, and, more rarely, sheer madness. This isn't an exact science, of course. Any given murder can have multiple triggers. Sex and revenge seem to be common partners in crime. Rage, money, and revenge make for a dangerous trifecta of triggers, as well. This book offers my memories of homicide cases that I investigated or oversaw. In each case, I examine the trigger that led to death. I chose this theme for the book because even though the why of a murder case may not be critical in an investigation, it can sometimes lead us to the killer. And even if we solve a case without knowing the trigger, the why still intrigues us, disrupting our dreams and lingering in our minds, perhaps because each of us fears the demons that lie within our own psyche -- the triggers waiting to be pulled. Lt. Joe Kenda, a twenty-three-year veteran of the Colorado Springs Police Department, spent twenty-one years chasing killers as a homicide detective and commander of the major crimes unit. Kenda and his team solved 356 of his 387 homicide cases. ·      Amazon   ·      Bookshop   ·      B&N Seven - Our podcast for the jaded ones that need wicked stories in their lives!
