Couple Investigating Crime In Thailand and Across The World. Special Episode. In the dimly lit streets of Thailand's red-light districts, and the hidden corners of bars and brothels across Southeast Asia, an ordinary couple has been fighting against an extraordinary evil: human sex trafficking. Matt and Laura Parker, the co-founders of The Exodus Road, have made it their life's mission to expose and dismantle sex trafficking networks. Their journey is one marked by immense courage, unwavering determination, and a significant impact on the global fight against human trafficking. Listen to the interview with Matt which is available as a podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, our website and most major podcast Platforms. Matt Parker is the guest on this special episode of the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast. He tells the amazing story of how he and his Wife Laura became accidental undercover investigators in the violent underbelly of Sex Trafficking in Thailand. And how this became their life's mission. Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and most all social media platforms. The Beginning of an Unexpected Journey, Couple Investigating Crime In Thailand and Across The World. The Parkers' path into the dangerous world of undercover investigations began in an unlikely place: a children's home for girls in rural Thailand, where they were working as directors. There, they confronted the grim reality of sex trafficking and its devastating impact on vulnerable children. Witnessing the heartbreaking consequences of poverty and exploitation strengthened their resolve to take action. Matt started collaborating with local law enforcement, aiming to protect at-risk children from falling into the hands of traffickers. His efforts led to his deputization by local police, allowing him to work directly on anti-trafficking operations as an undercover investigator. Equipped with hidden body cameras, Matt assumed the dangerous role of a "john"—a potential customer seeking to purchase sex. This undercover work enabled him to gather vital evidence, which helped law enforcement identify traffickers and rescue victims. While this work was far from what the couple had envisioned when they first arrived in Thailand, their commitment only grew stronger. They saw firsthand the urgent need for intervention and realized how ordinary people could make an extraordinary difference. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, MeWe and other social media platforms.  Articles about this are on Newsbreak and Medium. Founding The Exodus Road In January 2012, Matt and Laura founded The Exodus Road, driven by their belief that justice is achievable through the efforts of ordinary individuals. Since then, they have built a diverse team of staff and volunteers who share their passion for ending human trafficking. The organization has expanded beyond Thailand, establishing operations in multiple countries and becoming a key force in the global anti-trafficking movement. Couple Investigating Crime In Thailand and Across The World. Central to their approach is the understanding that training and education are crucial in combating sex trafficking. The Exodus Road's TraffickWatch Academy program provides comprehensive education for law enforcement, NGOs, students, and community members. By leveraging expertise from leaders in the counter-trafficking field, this program equips more people with the knowledge and tools to identify and prevent trafficking. Listen to this interview as a free podcast on our website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. A Focus on Intervention and Rescue Over the past decade, intervention has become a fundamental component of The Exodus Road's strategy. The organization has developed a robust model for assisting law enforcement in locating and rescuing trafficking victims, while also arresting traffickers to ensure they face prosecution. Their intervention efforts include training local investigators, identifying victims, building strong legal cases, and supporting law enforcement during operations. The results have been significant. To date, The Exodus Road has contributed to numerous successful operations, leading to the rescue of hundreds of victims and the prosecution of traffickers. However, their mission extends beyond rescue. The organization also provides vital aftercare support to help survivors rebuild their lives after escaping their captors. media platforms for the latest episodes and news.  Aftercare: A Vital Component of Recovery. Couple Investigating Crime In Thailand and Across The World. The Exodus Road recognizes that a rescue is just the beginning of a survivor's journey to healing. Their aftercare program addresses not only the immediate needs of survivors but also offers ongoing support tailored to each individual's circumstances. This trauma-informed approach is designed to be collaborative, working alongside other NGOs to provide comprehensive care. The organization also understands the emotional toll that undercover and investigative work can have on its team members. To ensure their frontline workers continue their crucial work against trafficking, The Exodus Road provides crisis care and mental health support to their staff. The interview is available as a free podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, our website or most major podcast platforms. The Global Scope of Human Trafficking Human trafficking is a pervasive and complex issue that transcends borders, cultures, and socioeconomic divisions. A United Nations report estimates that approximately 1.7 million children are ensnared in sex trafficking globally. Sexual exploitation remains the most prevalent form of human trafficking, accounting for 79% of cases. While women and girls are disproportionately affected, it is also alarming to note that in some regions, women are significantly involved as traffickers themselves. Couple Investigating Crime In Thailand and Across The World. Forced labor represents the second most common form of trafficking, making up 18% of cases. However, this number may be underestimated, as forced labor is often hidden and less likely to be detected than sex trafficking. Traffickers typically prey on vulnerable individuals, luring them with false promises of employment or financial stability. Once caught, victims find themselves trapped in a cycle of exploitation and abuse. Stay up to date by following us on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, MeWe, Pinterest, Newsbreak, Medium and other social media platforms. A Digital Era of Exploitation The rise of the internet and social media has opened new avenues for traffickers to exploit their victims, particularly children. The online sexual exploitation of minors has surged, with traffickers using platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to groom and exploit their victims. These crimes often involve live-streamed abuse, directed remotely by offenders around the world, creating new challenges for law enforcement and anti-trafficking organizations. Combating Trafficking with Awareness and Technology. Couple Investigating Crime In Thailand and Across The World. Organizations like The Exodus Road recognize the critical role of awareness and education in combating trafficking. By utilizing social media platforms, they aim to reach a broader audience and raise awareness about the harsh realities of human trafficking. In addition, they leverage digital tools and technology to gather evidence, conduct investigations, and coordinate rescue operations. This amazing interview is available as a podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, our website and most major podcast Platforms. To further their mission, The Exodus Road has launched podcasts on platforms like Apple and Spotify. These podcasts share powerful stories from the front lines, survivor testimonies, and expert insights, all intended to educate, inspire, and mobilize a global community to join the fight against trafficking. A Call to Action for Everyone. Couple Investigating Crime In Thailand and Across The World. The efforts of Matt and Laura Parker and their organization, The Exodus Road, serve as a powerful reminder that anyone can be part of the fight against human trafficking. By combining undercover investigations, education, intervention, and aftercare, they have developed a comprehensive approach to combating this severe crime. Their work emphasizes that the fight against trafficking is not solely the responsibility of governments and law enforcement; it requires the active involvement of communities, businesses, and individuals. Check us out on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, MeWe and other social media platforms.  Articles about this are on Newsbreak and Medium As human trafficking continues to affect vulnerable populations worldwide, the call to action is clear: learn, engage, and take action. Most tasting rooms in California involve wine, but at Laura Parker's Taste of Place events in the Bay Area, you'll find yourself with a glass of…. dirt. The idea is to smell soil from local farms, then eat the produce grown in the same soil so you can see how the aromas in the dirt affect the flavor of the food. During this sampling many have said that you can actually taste the pasture that the goats ate in the cheese made from their milk. How cool? In the Bible, 2nd Corinthians 2:15 says that we should be the aroma of Christ to those who don't know Him. So, with that in mind- What fragrance does your life emit?  Hopefully your “aroma” causes others to discover what the Bible says about the Lord – “taste and see that God is good!”

Judgy Crime Girls

Subscriber-only episodeLaura Parker was a quiet 14 year old girl, who lived with her parents in Lindenhurst, New York. She had been in choir, active in church, and a softball player at her high school. She disappeared on May 25, 1984, but most people believed that she was a runaway. Laura's parents knew better and wondered where she was, searching everywhere. Four months later, her remains were discovered a few miles from her family home. Her killer has never been found. Around the same time, three other young girls fell victim to disappearances/murders in the same area and it is believed that Laura could be connected to these cases. Sixteen-year-old Theresa Fusco, fifteen-year-old Kelly Morrisey, and nineteen-year-old Jacqueline Martarella were all predicted to have been taken from walking down the same road. Laura Parker's story is a tragic one, because her community wasn't helpful at the time of her disappearance, and many of the students at the high school were unwilling to talk to the police. There were a great deal of conspiracy theories surrounding her case, and rumors flying around about what had happened to the young teen. People claimed that she had overdosed, while others claimed she was murdered. The police said it was natural causes. But what truly happened to young Laura Parker? It is nearly the fortieth anniversary of Laura's death, and there are still so many questions surrounding her death. This is an unsolved murder that is currently under investigation. Labour faces a huge challenge, not just to win power but to use it to transform the country. The old politics that allows the domination of elites and swing voters constrains what we can do in the face of huge challenges like climate change and economic instability.A new politics, unlocked in the first instance by proportional representation, disperses power to the people, communities and workers and puts our dream of a good society on the map. Yes, it means working with others, so we can achieve 80% of what we do want and not have 100% of what we don't.Win as One is the campaign to change politics for good with Labour taking the lead role in delivering power to, for and by the people. Come and join us in the biggest conference debate about making democracy a first order issue.Live from Liverpool Town Hall, Progressive champions Beth Winter MP, Peter Marland, Frances Foley, Clive Lewis MP and John Harris shared their reflections on the PR motion and their experiences of the progressive movement. Many of the people that we have worked with here at HTYC tend to go through several career changes on their own. They try many of the traditional job search methods, and they don't see lasting results. Usually, they start excited about their new role, but then, at some point, start realizing that something is off. Sometimes the role or company doesn't match your values. Sometimes the role doesn't match your strengths. Laura Parker used to work for a global law firm for 12 years, and made a change to this technology company 2 years ago. It didn't take long for her to realize that she needed to make another change, and that's where she found this podcast. But I'm getting ahead of her story. We need to jump back and see why she needed to leave the law firm in the first place?

Today on the Art Seeker Stories 13th episode I invite Laura Parker to Art Seeker Island. Of her Art she says: Art is like a strand of her life that has developed as she's grown older (She'll be 70 in 6 months' time!).  For many years, art was something she loved and studied, gaining a degree in History of Art & Architecture at 45, but it had never occurred to her to try to create her own work.   At fifty, Laura began painting portraits and the human figure in oils. She explored landscape painting, going outside to paint ‘en plein air'. Currently Laura finds greater self expression in working more abstractly, capturing a sense of ‘landscape' that is less representational but more emotional, expressive and authentic to her artistic vision. Laura's use of colour and mark-making is vibrant, creating an energy and vitality to her paintings, offering the viewer a personal interpretation of the world where our individual sensibilities might meet. Laura takes us on wonderful magical journey beneath the sea, The 3 artist  artworks Laura takes with her for company on Art seeker Island are;1. By a woman: Jenny Saville – the visceral impact of her Reverse at the RA Summer Exhibition2. Of cultural significance: We are going to Australia with Brett Whiteley, looking at Rembrandt's portrait, an 18 panel painting: Alchemy and paintings of Sydney Harbour3. May we begin to care less about power and money and more about one another. Guest Bio: The Exodus Road began through the work of co-founders Matt and Laura Parker who, in 2010, operated a children’s home in rural Northern Thailand. During that time, Matt and Laura were exposed to marginalized people groups – targets for human trafficking. Eventually, Matt began networking with news media and local police to learn about the problem at the ground level. After a period of research, he was deputized by police and started working personally to find those trapped in slavery. Today, they lead a team of 70 staff members, many of whom are national operatives who work closely with vetted police partners.
